A Rocky start with loose rocks and spiderwebbs a plenty. Not a bad little walk up once you settle in.

We are staying for couple of days in Mount Isa, getting a lot to visit due to the many caches in town. For Multis, Adventure Labs and Mysteries we see some places twice, but that's okay.On occasion of going back and forward, we take the odd trads as well. Thanks to all cache owners who have put out the caches. Enjoying my very first visit to Mount Isa in the company of RoddyC, hatzofff, and grannysmith1947. To save space in the log sheets, we are signing as Team Q4.There were a good variety of caches on offer, and the majority were easy enough to find and were in good condition, with no DNF's to record. The scenery was ever changing, and we came across some really spectacular views today. Thank you, growrs, for placing this cache for our benefit and enjoyment. The dam and surrounding area out here were beautiful and a real pleasure to visit ??

Day 19With the QOGM event now over it was time to head up to Mount Isa to a town we had never visited before bringing us higher in Queensland than we have ever been before. Our aim is to do some solved puzzles, multis, the virtual, labcaches and some older trads, not to mention sightseeing. Our first full day caching locally we set out after breakfast to explore the town and surrounding areas. This cache was a must do as it helps fulfil a challenge back in town. The fit Triton headed off with a hat and bottle of water to achieve this. A steep incline walk up to the ridge line. Thanks groewrs for the placement.

On my way to NT via Birdsville Queensland with a few detours for shires. TFTC.
This is a great little series. Starts with nice views and then onto awesome views. Rock scramble and spider dodging is fun. What's with that grass that goes straight through my jeans.

Such a beautiful view from GZ. Blue sky, blue water and in between a band of greenery.
We stopped here for a few minutes to enjoy the views before pushing on to the next one.
A FP added here.
Thanks groewrs

Found at 2:39:00 PM(t) GAFF1.
This one was a lot easier to get to as I found a faint track that took me straight to this cache.
Great views from here and now to get down and enjoy some flat ground!
Thanks groewrs.

Caught our breath after the hill climb and got a great panorama pic. Gps again a little off, using my phone as I didn't check the garmin's batteries before leaving so that might’ve been the issue. Quick find, cheers!

Heading out early to grab the 4 RRR's. Found this one after the challenging hill. Tftc. took nothing, left car & signed log

Bit of a hike to this one, really pulled on the calf muscles. Think i was a little unfit for this but had to battle on as geohusband was ahead

22-Jul-16
While staying at Mount Isa we tackled a few new caches that have been published since our last visit and this was one of them. Today we were up early to beat the hot weather and tackled this series. The second one was an easy find but you had to dodge the spider webs, a thick and strong web tackled Mr "T" as he ventured across the top of the mountain. Off to the next one.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

15-Jan-16
Found with my parents MalDawg and StephLego and my little brother. Long walk with lots of flies

15-Jan-16
StephLego, WillPunkey, the small geokid and I set off early in the morning to tackle these before the summer heat set in. The drive to the parking area was not too bad in our Subaru but I would not recommend doing it in a standard 2wd sedan. Some great views from up here and plenty of flies to keep us company. The walk to this one was not too hard, even with a 2 year old on my shoulders. WillPunkey quickly spotted the cache. TFTC Groewrs

Found with MalDawg and the kids. The walk up the hill is worth it for the view

While the other half stayed at the car & enjoying the bird life on the lake I did the hike up to this 1 – cache didn’t revealed itself too quickly but got there in the end – I enjoyed the views from here – I’m hoping to do the others later on my own – TFTC / TFTH / SL

Trip to the lake this cool afternoon, still the sun was strong. Having been at both ends of the track earlier I has to start with the climb up to the top.
Good views anc it would all have been great if not for the cattle. Not much CO can do about that but they made me nervous.
Found the hide and went for the next.
Thanks for the cache

Hi there groewrs. We found your cache "Rocky Ridge Ramble - How's the views?" at 9:18:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 11089.
[Blue]
Wow, what a walk! Penny enjoyed the first cache, then her vertigo kicked in. We managed to find the second cache before we had to return to the car.

Ian then drove along the track a bit further and attempted the remaining caches from the far end, before scrambling down the rock face to return to the vehicle.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 4m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

On a trip from Richmond to Mount Isa i had to grab this one! TFTC Smile

14-Sep-13
Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 10:24am. Before the sun got too hot we set off for some Lake Moondarra caches. We did this series in reverse but would not recommend it in hindsight. We left the car where it was and walked the ridge along to this cache; great views from here. TFTC

First up a huge thanks to groewrs for the waypoint information they have supplied, also for taking care to ensure that their co-ords are spot on. This earns them a favorite for each of the caches in this series.

We stopped near this one and admired the views and then turned and continued on our way to the next cache. Not having signed any cache log here.

When we arrived near the cache that has the saying what goes up must come down, we looked across the way and saw a trail heading up the other side and had a smile and made a comment to each other - here comes the four and a half star cache as we thought that we would be heading up there. This was when we realised we had missed this cache.

So we took the flat walk back to the car and headed back up to this one and signed the log book this time. Even with doing this one twice the whole trail only took us approx. one and a half hours.

After visiting Mount Isa today, we will continue west, on our 2nd trip around Australia.
This was a great walk along the ridge, most over looking the lake.
With some fantastic rock formations, this is a recommended walk.
Thanks for the cache, groewrs.

After a rocky start at the 'start' of this Rocky Ridge Ramble, I headed upwards Razz
Now this is my style of caching Razz
No trails to follow, just ramble off cross country to the next waypont [^]
And with every step upwards the view just kept getting better Smile

On a coolish day with a nice breeze blowing, I was soon on top of the ridge line and very close to GZ Razz
I had not spilt a single drop of my can of fizzy cola getting here !
So after guzzling down the last gulp, I set about looking for a cachey place.
Well there be one right there Smile

TFTC and views !!

A nice little heart starter getting to this one. Dunno where groewrs gets his evil streak from. Maybe from his parents?
The views were well worth the effort though. Found with Mrs George. Took a little giraffe, and left a small truck. TFTC, groewrs.

I returned a bit better prepared today to attempt this series, but I was still not quite early enough... Kind of forgot my GPSr and had to return home.
I started climbing at 0900, and this part of the series was actually not too unpleasant, spiderwebs and midges notwithstanding. The sun was still well behind the ridge and this entire climb was in shade. But earlier would have been better.
There isn't really a track, so I climbed as the crow flies, I think.
Found the cache easily enough and left a carabiner compass.
TFTC groewrs. I wouldn't have walked this ridge without the lure of 4 caches.
