Logs
Hanging around Stradbroke with my friends Simon and Amanda and had a beer and feed at the cafe before quickly grabbing this cache.Cache container needs attention - log is quite soggy after the recent rains.Beautiful day to be on the island.TFTC
Tftc. As we stopped here during jet ski safari, of course I checked if there's cache hidden here. And yes there was. Thank you.
Found this afternoon with LC85, great spot to stop for lunch and a play for the kids. Tftc.
Wee trip out by jetski - easy find but no pen with us photo of log as proof.
Just finished lunch and realised a cache was close by, found quickly. Log is wet. Didn’t have anything to replace.
What better way to celebrate your birthday than with a surprise trip out on the waters around South Stradbroke Island finding caches?!?
It was a stunning day to be on the water and the company was brilliant. Joining us, forming a motley crew, was EeePees, Peppa and Snickersallan. We set off early from Jacobs Well, weaving our way through the islands, flying over the wakes of the giant “look at me” boats, avoiding the shallow sandbars along the way.
Beaching nearby we headed off on foot and soon had the cache in hand. Tftc Herbz

There was a plan… a grand plan… a secret plan…
It involved months of messaging, hiring a boat, importing a driver from Tasmania, making a list, solving some puzzles, an event with an ulterior motive & an early start…
Leaving the BeaverFinder at Jacobs Well, we boarded the Blue Woggle for a day of high seas adventure from Coomera Island North to Crusoe Island and many points in between…
The crew consisted of Snickersallan, Davinells, EeePeas and myself… electing not to abbreviate our names the logs were signed in full…
A perfect day aboard the SS Beaverlicous, sponsored by the South Stradbroke Auto Group - we specialise in used Volvos…
Having visited Couran Cove and Coomera Island we’re now heading north… after dodging the boats and jet skis we found a good spot to beach and soon after had the cache in hand…
Thanks Herbz

We were here - Joodie & Joodax
after work walk, wine and relax!
Herbz Thanks for the cache and yellow dandelion.
While planning our holiday in Australia, we couldn't miss the Fish and Cache series to keep us busy. After preparing almost the entire series, we started looking for a boat. There are great people here so in the end we found out that renting a boat that we don't need a license for is useless because the currents are strong.
We ended up at the Tipplers shuttle service, which is based here. Immediately after arrival, we caught this beautiful box.

Během plánování dovolené v Austrálii jsme nemohli minout sérii Fish and Cache, která nám dala zabrat.

Over on the island visiting my Mum and decided to look for caches whilst I’m over here. Was a lovely walk. Log is a bit damp but was still able to sign. TFTC
This was our lunch stop after finding some Fish and Cache in the morning. The boat hire company told us we could use the public pontoon. Definitely no big demand for the pontoon today with only one other boat. In Tipplers it was just us. Must have picked a quiet day...
While we waited for lunch I went off to look for the cache. It's conveniently placed to make a quick grab when this becomes seafarers central. It couldn't have been further from it today. TFTC Herbz.

Anchored off here overnight on a boat delivery trip. Took the chance to go ashore for a cold one and a cache. Damp log
Thanks for the cache, travelling north by boat so hopefully will be the first on many finds
On school excursion came over with Hugo, Nikki and Sophia to collect the bounty. All good here.

The weather is wet & overcast, the guys wanted to go fishing & I wanted to do some geocaching.
With my brother as skipper we headed out to Stradbroke Island.
I was dropped off at #3 & walked with my muggle sister in law down to #10 before getting picked up again. The genuine fishers only had one small flounder for their effort.
The boat stopped here on our way home & hubby did the duty of going to find thid cache
Thankyou Herbz for placing this cache.

Out with karicka and chamad chasing down the Fish and Cache series, and any others along the way that looked interesting.
This was our first find of the day, after pulling up at the jetty and wandering past all the jetski riders having brekkie we located the cache.

Thanks Herbz for giving us a reason to visit.

Not a lot of caching done of late with all the lockdowns, closures, hotspots and so on but we did manage to sneak south today to visit our son who has been unable to escape Australia & get back to work in myriad Asian countries.
Nothing planned really, just a visit to the Grand Hotel for a brew or two and a bite to eat, standard practice for a visit south but little did I know that other plans were afoot.
Mrs VC had been prewarned to bring a change of clothes for us both but no more information was forthcoming and I had been left completely in the dark.
On arrival I did notice a new addition at our son's residence ... a jetski was sitting, ready, attached to our grandson's fourbie … but he was at work.
Hmmmm?
A quick hello and we were hustled back out the door and straight into the fourbie ... why do I get the feeling we could be about to get wet?
Sure enough our next stop was at the nearby boat ramp where a quick launch had the jetski heading out of Biggera Creek and turning north ... carrying a combined load of about 280 kgs consisting of 3 bodies, clothing, safety gear & a variety of electronic gadgets.
Now this particular jetski was not the type we were used to, those with a wider hull and therefore a more stable ride ... no, this was a sleeker racing hull, built more for speed than stability at a crawling pace.
Things could get interesting, especially in the slower 6 knot areas.
It wasn't long and the speed picked up to a point where, looking over two sets of shoulders, I could see the needle nudging 130 ... not too shabby considering the load!
A few brief bouts of turbulance where we teetered side to side (at high speed!!!) & a few spots where the jetski was acting more like a panicking kangaroo as it bounded across the peaks and troughs of the water, several episodes of being face whipped by Mrs VC's hair (she was directly in front of me on the jetski) and only one broadside where we got a little damp but not too badly soon had us slowing again, to 6 knots as we approached Tipplers.
Wow, that was an adrenalin pumping 13 kilometres I wasn't expecting today! LOL ...
A feed and a couple of cold brews, with a wallaby sitting up on the bench nearest us and cleaning up someone's leftovers, and I was primed for a visit inside ...if you get my drift.
Having taken care of business I returned to the great outdoors to find I was alone ... I could see our son in at the bar but Mrs VC was nowhere in sight.
Being quite confident that she wouldn't be too far away I wandered down to the water to play tourist, soak up some sun & admire the water views.
I looked back and spotted the others back at our table so made my return ... to find Mrs VC smiling and holding a cache log in hand, signed and ready for replacing.
Mrs VC reached out, placed the log in my hand and said "I found it, now you take it back but I'm not telling you where."
Fair enough, game on!
I headed toward GZ & soon had the log safely snuggled back in place.
Do we get to claim two finds? LOL ...
On my return, to the others, it was decided to hit the water again & we had no sooner kitted up with vests, stashed our gear securely & kicked the jetski into gear than we were joined by dolphins.
Ahead of us, to the left & right of us, they were all around us ... and all our phones were in the watertight compartment!
Nooooo, I thought, no photos!
Our son had , however, kept his phone in his vest so the proof is on record after all.
A great experience and I think the trip back was even faster. LOL ...

My friend's boss has a boat, so we went to do whale watching and after that had a quick stop here, tftc!
Enjoying a day out on Straddie at Couran Cove - avoiding the crowds at Tipplers. A wonderful walk up the Island to Dux and beyond. TFTC
There it is. Nice day to be out on the water. FaceTime with the family here at tipplers. About to enjoy lunch
I was lucky enough to be invited by 4ando for a run around Jacob’s Well on their jet ski and I was loving it. We had found a few of their Fish and Cache geoart and the time had come for some breakfast.
I had heard a lot about Tipplers being one of their regular haunts, so I was keen to visit. We drove/skied in and set up for a bacon and egg roll which came recommended. There’s no point counting calories out here, and my arse was big enough to begin with.
After smashing down some food Mr 4ando said there is a cache just here so I wondered off for a look. I wasn’t prepared to walk into the sprinkler in case I got wet. I didn’t want my salt water musk ruined. In the end I had to walk into the sprinkler to stamp the log. tftc

I found myself here with a boat full of muggles. While waiting for ours beers to arrive I snuck away for a quick find! Thanks for the cache. In good condition. Nice area.

Tipplers.. and other places that feel very 'way over there' and for people who enjoy salt water and sand a truckload more than I do. But my displeasure for sun, salt, sand and sunscreen won't put me off getting gross for a day in a boat and grabbing some geocaches that have been staring me in the face for up to a decade.
It needs to be said though, it's a beautiful part of the world and I kinda get the attraction. I should have visited long ago, and indeed a few of us have discussed it vaguely for some time. Fangsoki, Pprime, Crew 153 and I can be vague with our plans and park them all for 'one day'. Though our last boating experiences have been great and at some point a date was locked in, a boat hire company called and the plan more or less set.
While we could have had the hire boat launched at many locations, somehow we began the day pushing off the Heathwood Drive boat ramp in some light rain. And said boat turned out to be very underpowered and topped out at just 7km/h. Today would be a long day without dynamic lift and with only about seven kilometres per hour! Oh well, beats swimming all the way to South Stradbroke!
Having cleared the Coomera River, we were now powering (for some given value of power) up the passage and the next target was another Herbz hide - excellent! Beaches, jetties, boat ramps - lots of options to land. Prime pointed in the general direction and I beached us just south of the boat ramp. And except for a few waiting jetskis, the area is extremely quiet. One of the many joys of winter, no doubt.
Onto the geocache. Idle chatter happened as we walked up the ramp and down the road a little. Nearby shops made me nervous, but again, not a person to be seen. The geocache was quickly spotted and I was sent forth to make the grab - nothing difficult here.
As expected, in good condition. I made myself giggle taking a photo as the logbook was signed. Time to head back to the boat, all over in a couple of minutes. I do wonder what this place is like for a destination in peak months. Thank you for this geocache, Herbz

Fangsoki, Captain Terror, Crew153 and I went to sea. We'd sailed the Coomera River and across to South Straddie by now, and we're heading north now. This cache was on the list, and after pulling onto the beach it took no time at all to wonder up to GZ and spot it. No time at all.
Thanks Herbz for entertaining me at this location.

Pprime, Crew 153, Captain Terror, and I were out floating in a boat when we decided to grab this one.
The area was relatively deserted as we made our way to GZ. I was worried as we approached GZ as we seemed to be getting close to aforesaid nearby business. However, Captain Terror and Pprime spotted the cache quickly - and then I saw where it was. Oh. That's okay then.
We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found. A nice little place to visit in here. I had no idea there was so many businesses on this island. TFTC Herbz

Out on the water with Pprime, Fangsoki and Captain Terror and we were passing this cache on the way North.
We were surprised by the lack of activity at this mooring and can only surmise that the place gets humming later in the day.
We all strolled to the search area and Pprime had located the cache before I had caught up with them.

After a morning out on the jet ski doing the Fish and Cache series with the CO, 4ando, we stopped here for some lunch. I recommend the BLCT. Delicious. Before leaving, I quickly wandered over to make a quick find here. Thanks for the cache
A day on the water so stopped in to grab this one. A few muggles about but none near here so managed a quick find. TFTC!
We made it to the Tipplers anchorage late afternoon, just in time for sunset drinks and an early dinner before the café shut. Much improved restaurant facilities since our last visit a few years ago when it was just the kiosk. The sweet potato chips and fettucini were superb, and even cider on tap, aaaand J's favourite beer on tap, too!
We had sailed (well, sail motored due to the southerly wind direction) down Canaipa passage from Canaipa anchorage last night, stopping at Jumpinpin on the way for a stroll on the dunes. We left the Newport marina on Sunday on our catamaran, Montage, for our week sailing on the bay. Great location.
Cache was a quick find once on the right track. Muggles nearly muggled us but detoured into the bar just in the nick of time.

Quick and easy find
We completed the fish series and traditionals around South Moreton Bay Island all by Kayak and walking. We stopped to camp overnight. Was a very enjoyable adventure using sit on top kayaks and hammock tents.
On day 1 we completed in this order, one of the caches may be out of order. We used two cars. One was parked at Jacobs Well and the other at Paradise Point tomsave back tracking. We had a very early start leaving Jacobs Well with the high tide.
Fish and Cache series, 16, 23, 19, 20, 22, Crusoe House Boat, 21, 18, 17, Jumpinpin Passage, Fish Cache Series 24, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 2 Goats in a Boat Fish Series 12.
Day 2
Camped overnight near Fish Series 11.
Fish and Cache Series 11, 57 km from Mexican, Fish and Cache Series 13, 14, 15, Dux's Hut, The Sand Dunes, Tipplers, (we had a break here and bought breakfast from the shops here). As the Sun Sets, Wallaby Lawn, Step Back in Time, The Bora Ring, Easy for Some, Minbalup, and Canoe Tree. We then paddled from here back to Paradise Point.
The adventure was fairly straigt forward, saw lots of sting rays, so make sure you have foot wear on when pushing kayaks across the mud flats which we had to do on afew occasions. I even had a fish decide to join me in the kayak. I quickly put him straigt back into he water. We were both quite exhausted on the final leg back to Paradise Point as we were going against the tide.
All in all was a fun adventure and I would recommend doing it by kayak over two days.

Sunday. The SPs were out again with Mr & Mrs Coolumroo in their motorboat, hunting up the remainder of the Fish and Cache series. Found this one quickly before settling down to a well-earned yet somewhat pricey meal at the cafe of the same name.
This was the 6th of 6 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***Herbz***, for showing us this place.

I've been eyeing up the GeoTour on this island since it was first published. Having negotiated dates, times, work and exams, I decided to bring Jess over for a few nights, after she'd finished her exams and before the school holiday rush.
Today a couple of other geocachers joined us and we'd booked a 4wd GeoTour adventure. We had the super helpful, super friendly Paul as our GeoTour Guide, and couldn't have asked for a better chauffeur! There were the northern caches from the GeoTour to be found plus a few others we wanted to fish out... and lucky for us, today Paul was able to be flexible with the dropping off and picking up and he even helped us find a couple of the caches.
He drove us close to this cache and we were able to make it a park and grab. Well, it took me a minute to spot the cache container but it was still pretty grabby. Thanks for this cache, Herbz!

I haven’t been to this place before, but it would have made a good spot to plan a lunch break today. The cache was nice and easy to find, just as well because I think the local waterways police that are having lunch here may have been keeping an eye on the two shady characters that was with me today.
TFTC Herbz
I may just bring the family back here soon.

It's been quite awhile since I visited Tippers and boy has this place changed and for the better too. The place looks great, it definitely makes me want to get a boat. Quite a few people here today, even the water police were here having lunch. Dam their boats look awesome.
We soon found the cache safe and sound hang around waiting.
Thanx again herbz

Out and about with monkey maker and CoolumRoo having a go at the caches on South Straddy. We started at the top end and made our way south to Couran Cove.
We were a little unsure how we would fare at these GeoTour caches but we had a clean sweep of all the caches to be First To GeoTour getting our names in all the CouranCove caches. All the secret word/phrases were noted on our passbooks and our SouthStraddy Geocoin applications are in the mail.
We had a "Perfect Day" caching out on the water today.
End of Copy and Paste Section
Ive heard of this place but never been here before. The place was alive with activity. There was a very big police presence here when we were here, there was 6 of them in their awesome boats. Im sure they offer free jetboat rides for the right candidates.
Container found nice and easy...Thanks Herbz

South Straddie Tipplers Trek - 2 days of paddling and caching fun with JaffaJ, Carlos the Jackal and geohubby Rob
We set out from Jacobs Well in our kayaks and as the weather was a bit iffy, we decided to paddle down past Woogoompah Island, into the Pimpama River down to North Diamond Head and then across to Couran Cove on South Stradbroke Island. Just before we go to South Straddie, we were caught in a massive downpour, but it was actually really nice as it was a bit of a steamy day. It didn't take long for the blue sky to come back out
We were staying overnight at Tipplers Campground, so before we went searching for the geotour caches we thought we'd set up camp. What a shame that we had to check in first next to the cafe and that we just had to have an ice cold beverage after our paddle, LOL Before we headed over to pitch the tents, we took a quick detour to find this cache. It was a nice easy find and thankfully there weren't many muggles about following the Easter long weekend. TFTC Herbz

Both of our muggle teens were sleeping at their friend’s houses the night before, we couldn’t believe our luck they were both going at the same time! They informed us not to pick them up until late Saturday arvo…no need to tell us twice, looks like we will have the night and a full day, cue happy dance.
We got up bright and early to come to our new found playground of Jacobs Well, we did contemplate coming down and staying the night before but as our muggle daughter was iceskating that night we couldn’t be sure that we wouldn’t get a phone call saying she had broken something… we aren’t saying she is a clutz!!!
After zooming around the islands, climbing sand dunes and having a swim off Straddie we headed off to Tipplers, just in time by the looks of things the bar just opened, looks like our brekkie burger is getting washed down with a nice cold beer. Last time we were here we were happy we had worked out the co-ords for a local multi and we completely forgot about the cache sitting right here. We went past the local little roo and went in search, once the groundsman had gone past in his buggy we swiftly went in for the grab before heading back out on the water. Leaving a fav point as this is now our favourite place to pull in the jetski for a bite to eat…

Awesome spot. Luckily it was quiet today....u would have to b really stealthy on a busy day to avoid suspicion. TFTC
Came out on a friend's boat for a late breakfast. Apparently this place is packed on the weekend. Seems we got the best of the conditions. And no one watching as Zonic and I found the cache.
Catching up on some logs when I was in the area for a wedding so in the area for a couple of days but not given much time to cache, also had to rely on borrowing cars to go out. Before I had to leave we had a boat cruise to South Stradbroke Island we stopped nearby with enough time for toilet & cache break
Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache Herbz

What a great place for a cache, right next to the place we stopped on our jet ski safari! Never had so much fun! Thanks for putting a cache here, TNLN TFTC.
I don't always log my finds...... but when I do it's a Herbz cache on an island.
Thanks for the cache. Cheers!
Thanks for the cache. Cheers!
Planned on attending the GIFF event tonight. Repeat/rerun! This cache is nearby, might as well pick it up.
Visiting the island with geo friends for the GIFF tonight and decided to nab a 'nearby' cache - well two hours worth, bit hard with bicycles on the thick sandy tracks!! Nice hide with the great clue, thanks Herbz and TGTC
Out on an adventure with geobuddies as we are attending the GIFF at Couran Cove tonight and couldn’t resist to check this out. Yay found it but had to do diversionary tactics as there were heaps of muggles!!
Thanks for the cache!

Out jet skiing perfect spot for brekky quick easy find tftc Lokky1 September 3, 2017 10:46
Found while having coffee. A couple of trucks were waiting to be loaded on the next barge. SL. TFTC. Left a halfpenny.
Spending a lazy Sunday at Tippers with Nutty144 and thought we would do a spot of Caching
Was easier than expected whereas I was lucky to look in the right direction. Unfortunately no pen. TFTC!
Stopped off at Tiplers for lunch while out for an afternoon of Tubing behind Little Bro's boat. I remember coming here as a teenager in my mate's tinny --- at night...!!!! [xx(] The new cafe and bar area is great --- though the old beer-garden will always be remembered as something pretty special

Out on the water today to try and pick up an unloved multi, stopped here for a brew and find this one while here. Easy find and another smiley. TFTC
We found it and I'm so happy! Our on a houseboat holiday with family and neighbours, my geosister and I made it our mission to find a few higher terrain caches on our way. After we ordered fish and chips from around the corner we started our search, for some reason my gps was making us search in the wrong corner lot of trees. We left unhappy and ate food, jumped in the boat and boated down to it so we didn't have to walk hundreds on meters. A friend who had never been geocaching before was actually first to spot it. We got the log, signed it and returned to the boat. Thanks for this one, lovely spot with good food and wildlife!
TFTC rather sneaky and good hide. Found after a great day sea kayaking up to Jumpinpin.
