We found Wilson's Walk: Exploration on a lovely lunchtime walk in between meetings.A lovely little wander brought us to an area we hadn't been before with cache found surprisingly quickly Thanks #SEALTeam4 for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

24 December 2023 6:03 pmOut and about with Brain this afternoon, cleaning up the Berwick area a little bit before heading on over to PinkPiggy7's annual pre-Xmas celebrations. With myself wanting to clean up the gardens a bit we were off on foot in a race against the clock...... but turns out we had a little bit more time than expected as I didn't read the daylight saving opening hours..... ah well all in all the walk in the gardens was good fun with only one snake spotted this time. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

Hooray! With determination and a very big thank you to the CO for replying to my message and giving us a gentle nudge and confirmation of our gathered clues, we travelled back today and made our way to an area we had a strong feeling to investigate. Luckily no one was around when we got to the spot so we had plenty of time to locate the cache. I used a device to check it was safe to grab and today it was, good! Signed log and placed back with its friend. We now know last time we were here, we thought another area was the spot to investigate, we were a little off, as we had passed a key location entirely on our walks to gather the answers to each waypoint, we can see know it can easily be done and why we were stuck. But today, something made sense, and it was time to turn this frown upside down!

07-Jul-23
A fantastic walk around the huge park and today it was a glorious sunny Winters day! We gathered the clues and collected a map because it takes forever for the pdf to fully download on the phone whilst at the park due to poor reception...but the map does not make sense as its a NEW map... so we guessed where this might be instead....but still couldn't find it???
Have sent a message to CO for a requested hint.

On school holidays (being a teacher), so we went for a walk as a family. Decided to knock this one out. The linked map in the description is broken, so maybe this needs to be updated? Luckily we solved it doing the waypoints in order, so as a hunch (again the map didn’t help at all) we stumbled upon GZ and then all the clues fell in to place. I would not like to grab this one during summer!

A day in the Wilsons park with my friends trying to find some of the caches..
Wee almost gave up on this one but just on the way out of the visitors center we saw something there made us go back, because of something we had seen in other logs.

Favorite point for this one..

06-Mar-23
Took us 4 trips here to finally find it!! One last hunch before we gave up.
Nice quite spot listening to the birds we tried to be quite with our excitement when we finally got it!!

I still can't believe I actually managed to find this cache. I collected the info from most of the WPs a couple of years ago. Today I visited again and thought I'd give it a go. I found most of a word in the WP clues, read a couple of logs, and took a complete stab in the dark. Once I was at the 'let's give it a go - this could be it' location I found something that matched the word... A bit more of a fossick around and SOMEHOW I managed to put my hand on the cache. I still think this was an absolute fluke!

This is a beautiful park. Nice paths, but even on a Monday afternoon, we had to be careful of muggles.

13-Feb-23
Young lady muggles squatting the Rotunda, made it hard to look for the plaque. Thank goodness for zoom lens

My middle daughter and I are out and about today exploring Wilsons Botanical Park in company of Manfred and beckNmonts.

Manfred was getting all the attention. We stopped to grab a coffee before we continued our walk around. I did part of it last time I was here but ran out of time to finish so today we had plenty of time to find the Final. Pleasant surprise awaited us when we found the cache. The geo kid liked it very much.

Thank you for the cache here K_Wolf

Thanks for great cache in the park. Started this one a couple months ago when I was in the park for Manfreds Birthday Bash! However being time poor I focused on the ad lab, trads and multi, but picking up any stages that I passed. Fast forward to today and in Berwick for an event, and with such stunning weather a trip to this park was in order. Found the final stages, took a guess and what you know a fantastic cache was found Wink thanks for the great puzzle!

23-Oct-22
Time for a Sunday morning adventure. I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to head down to Frankston for the CITO followed by a handful of select caches.

This was another DNF redemption. This cache was missing last time I searched and has now been replaced. Straight to GZ today and straight to the cache.

Thanks #SEALTeam4 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

I attempted this cache a long time ago and it was missing. Today I’m in the area for a CITO and thought would go for a little walk.

Working from memory I headed straight to GZ and got a fright.

Well that was scary especially after all the snake warning signs..

I searched many other locations and kept popping my head out the window to scream in case this thing was real.. after a little spy with my mirror I braved the creature and the cache was in hand. Phew.

Thanks for the cache.

Explored this beautiful area with echidna44 and au.fait while we completed this cache. Thanks for taking us around the gardens and enjoying the beautiful scenery. A day well enjoyed!

26-Mar-22
Out with au.fait and pinnacle333, we were celebrating a special birthday in these beautiful gardens.
A great walk around the park showing us points of interest, although reference for GZ seemed a little obscure. We needed a bit of help to get there. Thanks K_Wolf

25-Mar-22
Having a lovely day in these magnificent gardens celebrating a special birthday with family, and collecting caches as we walked Visiting all the waypoints added interest and direction to our exploration of these gardens and a fun solution, but everything ground to a halt at this stage I think we were all too tired to think straight and needed some assistance here TFTC K Wolf

Put a dnf on this 4 years ago. After reading the instructions carefully decided to have another look - finally all was revealed!

Finally found it after a struggle of a hunt, definitely got my steps up for the day. Tftc.

31-Jan-21
As we made our way around (taking a few wrong along the way) the clues came together and we had something. But then the question was, 'What did it mean?'.
We then began a period of aimless walking around. We eventually headed to the information centre for some inspiration, but nothing came. We were just about to call it off when we discovered something promising. A short time after that, it all made sense.
The aptly decorated cache was found in excellent condition.
Thanks K_Wolf for the challenge. It definitely was an 'exploration'.
Chiefton!!!

13-Dec-20
Checked and cache was missing. All good and ready to find with a new container. Will update those details later.

24-Nov-20
This was a novel approach to a puzzle and we attempted this and the wherigo at the same time - quite confusing!

We made it to all the way points and collected the clues relatively fine. Walking back to check the map at the Visitors Centre did not seem to help (although we observed the map has been updated with COVID information). A bit of a potluck wander and further exploration and we think we were at GZ. The final location has a fair bit of rubbish and not sure if the cache is buried within this, as we sadly did not find the cache today.

24-Nov-20
Found all the clues but was a little lost about where this might be hidden. We attempted a location which then proved to tick some boxes. A thorough search however didn’t result in a cache of the size in the description. Unfortunately a DNF for us today.

Thanks #SEALTeam4 for the cache.

09-Mar-20
Found it. Tftc. Found with BDU.

01-Dec-19
So I was on a caching walk through here with day1976, and he knew where this final was so that was very helpful! Lovely park for caching.

22-Sep-19
Our family really enjoyed wandering around collecting the clues today. We even managed to suss out the final GZ first go- just had to think a little bit, and a hard copy of the map helps. I think the little red train driver was very confused when we turned up in so many different places to wave at his passengers. We will probably return just to have a go on the train, now we have cleaned out the area of geocaches.
Thank you to the past and present CO’s. Favourite point from us.

15-Sep-19
Out and about this afternoon for some caching in the Berwick area, had a great time and the rain mostly stayed away Smile. I did the major leg work of this cache a few weeks ago but then had no idea what to do with the collected info and so headed home. Today I came back with an idea and headed towards my hunch and it proved to be correct - whew! When my hand touched the cache I was very pleased! Thanks for a great tour of the park! TFTC.

26-Aug-19
After collecting the clue a while ago we decided to return to this park to enjoy some beautiful weather. We had a hunch where the cache might be so visited this location, only to have a muggle sitting close by doing some work on his tablet. With limited option to search we made a quick call to knight_shift who confirmed we were looking in the right location. We waited nearby and once the area was muggle free we had the cache in our hands quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed finding this one. Tftc

11-Aug-19
With the clue collected awhile ago, we had searched for this elusive cache on each of our visits to this beautiful park. Trying to understand the clue proved a few problems until I thought I had come up with a couple of good possibilities. We met Darkandstormy on our travels, who incidentally were searching for the same cache. Apparently we had made a mistake on one of the questions, which didn’t really make much difference in the end, so they went off in one direction, us the other and only after meeting again at an intersection and seeing the smiles on their faces, pretty quickly realised my brilliant theories were apparently duds. At least we now knew what direction to take and with a little guidance, finally everything made sense and we were able to sign the log.

Thank you #SEALTeam4. This one certainly took us awhile, but was always a pleasure to return to these gardens.

11-Aug-19
Wandering the park in between showers, we ran into Knight_shift also wandering about between showers and strangely enough looking for the same cache. After exchanging thoughts and ideas on what and where to search for this cache, we soon parted ways and continued on to our searches separately. With Ana the geodog leading the way we wandered into an area that we hadn't been before and thats when I it became obvious that we had found the cache hide. TNLNSL. TFTC. KKAms

This was fantastic.
A gorgeous stroll through an essentially unpopulated paradise on a lovely autumn day.
Sweet little puzzle at the end.
I'd come here today to make some calls in peace. Received an interesting offer on the work front - and that was cause for a smiley.
Thanks so much to K_Wolf and #SEALTeam4. I really enjoyed this beautiful walk. ??

28-Feb-19
This was a long time in making as I had been around and collected all but one of the waypoints. I must not have paid much attention at the time but I was doing the other caches in the park and the Wherigo. But I only added one in to cache notes so the others must be in my notebook which is not with me and as I had some time, although it is extremely hot, I decided to walk the park and collect the information. Such a nice park and a lovely walk. After gathering the required information I looked at it stupidly with no idea where it took me so I kept walking to discover some other areas and this is how I stumbled onto the hide. I though it could be but no idea where to start looking and as I was walking out I spotted it and after some more searching had the cache in hand.

Thanks K_Wolf for the cache.
Found at 7:03 pm on 28/2/19.

Having completed another previous dnf in the park, my buddy and I decided to search for the final of this previous dnf. There was an area we had not ventured into and looked promising. Sure enough what we were looking for revealed itself and we were able to turn this cache into a smilie. Thanks Teamoss5

17-May-18
My Friend , BonnyBlack and I were here a couple of weeks ago and walked away empty handed , as we could work out where the clue was meant to lead us . We just had to have another go . We explored another path which we didn't do first time round , found the answer and low and behold there was the Cache . Thanks Teammoss5

After a very long sleep in this morning in a lovely warm and comfortable bed, Rex and I had a quiet but tiring [|)] day walking around the Wilson Botanic Gardens Cool[^]
We started with a chicken and coleslaw picnic brunch before entering the gardens and then left the area at 6pm as the sun set [|)] and still had not finished all the caches in this park SurprisedRed Face[|)][xx(]
So I decided I'd be back again in the morning in an effort to try and find all the caches in this park!
The only real shame was that with so many dogs in here, there was nowhere that the dogs could be let off lead to play together and run themselves ragged Sad
Today I found 5 Smile caches and had 1 Sad DNF

I can promise that by the time I left this park today, I was tired and sore as I'd walked up and down hills and around and around but both Rex and I had a good day though Cool[|)]Cool
We saw plaques, we saw birdlife, we saw aquatic life, we saw a rat, we saw dogs and we generally explored... as this cache intended. [^]
At GZ I looked for a while until my phone went flat Sad Being short, some things are harder for me than other people and eventually my searching was compromised further by a lovely lady and her wonderful 2 children!
The lovely lady had a phone which wasn't flat and as a result, I can log this cache as found after she and her children helped me find the cache in its hidey spot! Cool[:X][^]
The children loved Rex and they all loved the concept of an 'adult treasure hunt' Cool

This mystery Cache took us to many good places around Wilson Botanic Park . Took Time out to find other Caches whilst enroute. Collected all the clues needed to solve this one , but couldn't find the answer even after more research at Home afterward. Thanks anyway K_Wolf . Will have to try again

04-May-18
Found all the info, but today was not the day for hunting down the final. Another day maybe.

29-Apr-18
Found all the pieces, but the clue didn't help at all.

20-Mar-18
We collected all the necessary answers and it did make sense - but what to do now?? We re-read and re-read the listing, went back to the info center to look at the map and to re-check the POI and then it clicked!! With the idea that we thought that made sense, walked back and around and around and couldn't find anything. Then we found something else - but no luck either.

Our tummies were grumbling and time had run out so we had to give up...... We'll just have to come back again.....

Its with a little sadness and reluctance that I will be adopting this cache out to Teammoss5. I have moved a little further away from these beautiful gardens and can no longer care for these caches in the way that they need to be cared for. I feel very strongly about preserving K_Wolfs great little series in the wonderful park and hope the survive and bring caching happiness to cachers for a long time yet.

10-Nov-17
Still dog sitting at Berwick have about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to grab a couple of caches.
Collected the clues then after a bit of a blank space finally signed the log.
Thanks FTC.

Good hiding spot hard to find not in obvious spot good cache

21-Sep-17

31-Aug-17
I started this cache when I first came back to Berwick a few months ago. However I was coming down with the flu and just not up for finishing it that day. Back today I went for a further search and soon had the cache in hand. Amazing what a clear mind can do. TFTC TeamThommo

11-Jul-17
Had the clues solved for this on first visit but took 3 more visits to get the cache. Somehow had missed it the first time we checked location and had therefore ruled it out but decided to start fresh this time and checked all again and finally nabbed it. Great to finally solve! Tftc

08-Jul-17
Well, I finally picked up the final clue, but I already knew what it was.
Did some back-tracking and running around hunting for this but it's not where I thought it would be, and there wasn't anywhere obvious that jumped out at me...

I guess I'll just have to come back here a different time.

28-Jun-17
Found this one after walking our way in and around the park this afternoon, we set about gathering the required numbers for this challenge and picked up the cache after a short search. Great final gz too! Thanks again TeamThommo and K_Wolf for the cache and also for the walk around this lovely part of the world.

Will definitely be back to finish the the series and show my family this location.

In the area today for Wilsons Botanical Gardens event. A perfect opportunity to find the last few of the caches in here.
Kelly of Mark&Kelly, Jaybeebaby and I headed around completing the wherigo and picking up the remaining trads.
I'd picked up all the clues before, but wasn't sure what to make of them. Today it all came together.

28-May-17
I actually solved all of the hints quite some time ago, but had no idea to do with the result. With the 3 extra brains of OzHockeyChick, Mark&Kelly and S38, we managed to solve this one and earn the smilie. Thanks for bringing me to one part of the park that I hadn't actually seen before.

19-May-17
Popped down to the unofficial event today with a few left to check off the list in this beautiful park.
Had done all this before and had the final clue but it didn't make sense. I even asked the park people if they knew what the clue had to do with the park but came up blank.
Today as we strolled about and discussed this puzzle it occurred to me that many years ago I just may have seen what was suggested and might know where it was.
Well off we went. one quick look and a smile spread across my face. Within seconds I had the cache in hand. Must say that's a different kind of final coordinate. Love the idea, thanks Smile

08-Apr-17
Lots of people taking advantage of what may be the last reasonably warm Saturday of autumn, made getting some of the info a little awkward as there were official groups and professional photography etc. going on.
But a storm came along and spoiled my fun. This was another incomplete find here - I found 5 of the 6 clues. I thought from the clues I had found I knew where it would be, but my calculations were wrong, so in the light rain (that immediately preceded the heavy), I gave up.
Actually properly reading the cache description Big Grin, and looking over the map now, I'm pretty sure I know approximately where it is, so I'll have to come back another day and collect this and some of the other caches in the area.

Found with Lochb and Quiet1_au on a dry but overcast day. We made this cache more difficult by trying to prove that you can do five caches at once around the gardens. Trying to look after two multis I did not read the cache page well enough. We went to each location discovered the answers to the questions. Having the answers I then read the page and Q correctly identified the location, which we had not been to yet (although we had been close). At Gz Q saw what we had expected and Q had the cache while I looked elsewhere. Thanks casey.cachers

Had an awesome afternoon walking around the park with Stinky Bob and Stinky Tom.
Each time I've been here it's been too cold for snakes so I'm looking forward to coming back in Summer and hopefully will spot one then.

Took a while before we found this one but once you know what to do and look for it isn't hard.
Thanks casey.cachers, another well put together cache.

More unfinished business from November. I had the clue figured out last time I was here, but it didn't seem to refer very specifically to any of the 6 waypoints I'd already visited, and I ran out of time to re-check. Like last time I largely examined each of the waypoints in parallel with visits to the various Wherigo zones, some of which overlapped. Despite uncertainty, one general area did always seem to show the most promise, but the cache was not actually at the formal waypoint as such. Turned out it was not toooo far away though, as I found upon (massively) expanding my search area. Thanks K_Wolf and casey.cachers!

Found half the clues on our first visit.
Now found the other half and the cache

I walked back to the car with eyes wide open.

One day when my son was at kinder I set off to solve this. I was disappointed at the end as I couldn't work out where it was. UNTIL about 8 months later I was showing a friend from western Victoria around the gardens and then I SPOTTED IT! A bit of a climb and hurrah! But just one problem... I didn't have a pen. So today I came for a picnic, and made sure I had that darn pen!

On a side note, somebody has been using this as an ash tray. On both occasions I have had to remove used cigarette butts which is absolutely filthy!

Oh boy .... I am sooooo glad we have ticked this one off. We walked these paths many months ago and got all the clues, taking photos to make sure we had all the right answers. It was a very LONG morning, lots of hills and back tracking that we just went home. It wasn't until today that we finally put all the pieces together and it was a very nice hide and it all made perfect sense. I honestly had no idea that the park was this big with so many pockets, had it not been for this Unknown puzzle. It really was worth all the hard work and steps we did to make this one happen. A really satisfying one to have under our belt.

Back to the Casey Fields area, a few weeks after the recent Melbourne Mega event to clean up what we missed. Finding the remnants of the C.F. series, well, what we've been able to solve and complete today. We had time to pick up a few strays here and there, this included heading to knock off a couple of Earthcaches in the vicinity. After the earth cache we had a chance to check out this GZ and find the cache -the weather was a little hot and unpleasant, the walk back to the car wasn't great. Thanks for the cache, casey.cachers.

Decided to tackle this one this afternoon as part of our trip to the Mega, and joegleeson_25 and I really enjoyed the walk around some of the main points of interest in the park. What a great idea and well thought out to make sure you get the most out of the walk. Clue for the final took a bit for us to try and figure out.....but we got there in the end on our way back to the car. TFTC

14-Nov-15
As we walked around the gardens collecting other caches, we collected the clues for this one. Unfortunately we ran out of time and had to go to the CITO before making the find. Luckily, we were able to pick up a hint at the CITO and we returned to make a quick find. A well thought out cache and I'd recommend the gardens to other cachers.

Found with Mel_Adz at 1513. TftC

14-Nov-15
Visited Wilson's Botanic Park after attending the Mega Event at Casey Fields. There was almost an issue as I walked around the park at there was a wedding happening at waypoint two. Not sure I should crash the wedding for a clue, so I headed off to find the other waypoints and a couple of traditional caches around the park. Once the wedding was gone I had the clue but was clueless. A visit to a few spots around the park and the penny dropped. Thank you for showing me around the park and for the walk. TFTC!

Today was a very long day, but a beautiful walk in a gorgeous park with Geodaughter and the Geodogs. After realising we wouldn't have time (or energy) for the other two caches we'd planned we decided to concentrate on finishing this one since we had most of the clues, gathered as we'd done some others.

After a nice walk to Ben's Lookout, and a cry when Geodaughter read the poem and we discussed it's meaning and she worked out the age of the writer (yes I'm a sap for a sad war story), we headed back to the last 2 WPs and we had the clue, but what did it mean???

After a trip to the loo and reading the previous logs, luckily we worked out where it might be based on a hazy memory of a previous visit to an event here. We had just enough time we thought to check out our theory before we had to collect my other daughter so off we headed, the 4th time for this pathway today LOL. Success! Thank goodness because we were all exhausted by now after about 5 hours walking around, with a quick drive to Berwick for lunch in the middle.

Thanks for the great walk on a gorgeous Spring afternoon, we had a lot of fun!

Took us a day to think of what the clue meant...have to say we cut some corners on the walk which made it more difficult, even as a local. Enjoyed it - thanks!

We had walked around the park in the opposite way to what we probably needed to find this cache but we were just going to each waypoint as we got close to it whilst searching for other caches. We also wanted to end our walk near the playground so the kids could play. We had brought along some sausages so whilst the kids played and we cooked we worked out where we think we needed to go to be able to sign the log. Lucky we actually hadn't walked to this area yet so we were able to convince the kids for one more walk....and success.... our clue matched and we soon had cache in hand.
Thanks for a fun and successful geocaching day for us Smile Another fav point from us as we like caches that the kids can help us with!
