From Wellington it was just a short drive, so we took the chance Smile Very nice area, we would have loved to stay longer and to explore it. So this was our "first oldest found cache in a country". TFTC

Another milestone. This time-honored cache was an important stop on our tour. And today it was searched for, found and logged. What's more, it was a beautiful walk in glorious weather that brought us here. One of the "most beautiful" old ones in terms of location!!We're happy to leave a favorite point here for its preservation and care. Many thanks to the owner and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany

Today we came across your Cache and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals and Earthcaches. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache. Found this one with TTO1 and TTO2 today. TTO1 and I are touring New Zealand with TTO2 for a couple of weeks and our travels brought us by this cache. So, we just had to stop and find it. Well, of course we had to stop for this oldie - It was one of the reasons that we are visiting this area. I really enjoyed the hike out to this one. We took the road on the way out and the trail on the way back. Very nice area for a cache. Favorite Point from me.Were really enjoying our visit and have been exploring lots of cool spots. Im sure that we will still have a lot that we didnt get to see on this trip, so I look forward to coming back again some time to see some more of this beautiful country. Thanks for the fun!

EN : May 2000!!! Our trip to New Zealand was decided very quickly, following the cancellation of another trip. We then thought about the different caches we could look for during this trip without bothering the group we were traveling with. It is by reading logs that we learn that this cache was present in New Zealand . And, impeccably, it is in Wellington, where we have a free day. We noted the coordinates of the parking lot (S 4116.515 E 17458.375); We still had to book an Uber to take us to the start of this very easy little hike. This morning, 9:00 a.m., wow, we're leaving by car. 9:30 a.m.: we arrive at the hike parking lot. Very quickly, we arrive at the suspended footbridge then at the waypoint of this cache. The box is spotted immediately. Yessssss!!! We open the cache and add our nickname to this logbook. Of course, we did not fail to take several photos to immortalize this superb moment. So happy!! We leave a favorite point before closing this box where we only discovered 3 Travels Bugs while 4 should be present according to this sheet. We take 1 and drop 2. Out 1 In: 2 Thank you Kevin Anderson for installing and maintaining this very old cache and we wish it a very long life.

Hello, and may you last long! A must for us, the oldest fund so far and one more step closer to the holy jasmer - which is not that easy to do when based in Europe. Thanks for keeping it going, everyone!

Found with Gazania Rigens, as per her log and with so much appreciation for Eriallos kindness in giving us so much of her time, the comfort of her car and her wonderful company. A true pleasure. We enjoyed the tranquil beauty of the forest walk to GZ and its always fun to find a venerable cache such as this still going and in good condition.FP and TFTC!

We had considered using public transport to get to this cache, but local cacher Eriallo very kindly offered to take us in her cachemobile. We had a nice time walking through this pretty landscape with both native and imported plants. We didn't meet all that many people on the way to the cache, but it got busier on the way back. Sorry to hear about shonkylogic's hire car troubles, but good that you managed to get to the cache after all. It was not the quickest find for us, but once my phone had settled we spotted the good sized container. Thanks to the CO for keeping this very old cache going. FP and TFTC!

Came to NZ to help fill my jasper grid. This one along with a couple near Dunedin have filled in 3 squares. I originally had a hire car booked today to drive here but had issues with needing to pay a huge deposit of a few thousand on a debit card as I don't carry a credit card. So gave up on that and caught public transport here. It was fairly easy with a lovely walk at the end. No need for a car at all. Now to catch the bus and train back to the city...

After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done ??. In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ??) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. Fangsoki and I did an overnight stop in Wellington on the way from Brisbane to the Mega to find a few special caches. This was one of the special caches on our list.We had thoughts of a reasonably short walk and we were surprised that access to the area was restricted by a locked gate about 1km away bur we were unperturbed and headed up the bitumen and crossed the suspension bridge and soon found the cache in good condition. Thanks wainuiomata and Kevin Anderson for keeping this old cache alive.

Crew 153 and I were due to join Pprime in Dunedin for the 2024 Mega. However, we decided to fly into Wellington - primarily to get this grand old cache. This is currently my second oldest cache overall - and my oldest physical cache. It took us 1.5 hours to get out of Wellington airport and get our car. Soon we were on our way toward GZ.We were a little perturbed when we pulled up at a closed gate about 1km from GZ. We kitted up and made our way on foot toward GZ. Open Street Maps didn't seem to have the new bridge on it yet. We made our way across and went to GZ. We soon found the prize - safe and sound.Photos were taken, logs were found and then we headed off back to the car. Mission Completed.Thank you for keeping this grand old cache alive. TFTC Kevin Anderson Smile

This one really jumps out at you when you're in the right area. It was a delight to open the lid and see all the bits and pieces and just enjoy this piece of (slightly adjusted) history. Picked up the TB and will find a deserving "Spot" for its journey.

Coming from the US, this cache was quickly on my list as a must do. We were going to be in Welligton for 3 days so it was not too difficult to make the time for it. The drive was quick and I used parking coordinates S41 16.515' E174 58.375'. The walk was super easy, flat, and I couldn't have asked for better weather. The find was quick and the cache was in good shape. I left a few trackables that would probably rather stay in NZ than come home with me. Thanks so much for keeping this cache going!

What an adventure to get this one!We set out from Napier with a good solid breakfast of ice cream and headed down country road after mountain range after small town till finally we were on the expressway and then making our way in closer and closer to this cache. It was our main goal for the day and as the rainy weather set in we were so glad we chose today to find it as the afternoon in Wellington had a lot of wind in store for us, so much so that the quest building was noticeably swaying! It was a really nice walk to the cache and a quick find once at GZ. Took the bush path in and came out along the road so we got a good look of the area. Thankyou for adopting and looking after this cache, its really great to be able to find caches that were hidden in the very early days of geocaching. I was super excited to find this one and very glad to have it ticked off along with others on the 2000 placed list. TFTC

With BlLbo, travelling to Wellington from our friends', this was down as a **must do** cache on my trip to give me my second oldest overall & 11th from Y2K. It also filled a gap on my *Regular* calendar for today! We parked up as suggested & put on our coats as the fine weather of the past week had finally broken into thick drizzle. So we set off up Reservoir Road at a brisk pace, noting that everyone else was heading in the opposite direction! After a kilometre on the road, my map suggested we turn off but we were met by a ford across quite a swiftly flowing stream where I was expecting a bridge! Fortunately, we'd just turned too soon & were soon bouncing across the suspension bridge. It was then just a short walk along the track before we noted a cacher's trail into the scrub. From there I spotted the good-sized container & after gaining access I signed the current logbook before the obligatory photo. New Zealand is now the sixth country in which I have found the oldest cache. I dipped my *Horses Around the World* geocoin which only visits caches older than 20 years & picked up the resident trackables to move on before replacing everything as found. Thanks for keeping this old one going - it obviously gets a favourite point!Found at 14:04Cache #10445TFTC Kevin Anderson

This cache was the reason to hire a car in New Zealand even if it meant driving on the left side of the road. It has been ok since Auckland and now we, Hippitiainen and me, found this oldie too. Greetings from Finland!

Find number 1000!Our mission today was to find this cache specifically for this milestone. We had to find a couple of others on the way first. What a great area, one which we had never been to before. Which is often the case with geocaching. So cool to think how long this has been here, fun trying to imagine what we were doing when this was put out. Thanks wainuiomata (Kevin Anderson?)

Today was an important day in my Geocaching career. It was time for a pilgrimage to the Holy Grail of NZ Geocachers - the legendary GC46! I'd waited until mid-morning, when the weather forecast suggested the rain would be finished. I started off in lovely sunny weather but, as I wandered along the Gum Loop Track, the rain returned and I was fishing out my showerproof-not-rainproof mac. On the upside, this made for a quiet tramp, which was lovely. FOMO was immediately dissipated when I discovered the cache and due homage was done. Yus! Very happy to visit this cache and kudos to Kevin for his commitment to keeping this one 'live'. (This is Ramble #1, counting towards GC2XBA7 Rambler's Reward Challenge).

We made our way around New Zealand visiting the site and picking up a few geocaches along the way. We definitely had this one on our list, and the nice walk to it was a good leg stretcher. We went through the second Geocacher path into the woods and were greeted by a dead cat, so yay.I dropped a handful of past tags and Geocacher trader cards from years ago from our local Geocaching group in Georgia, USA. The path tags are for people to take log and keep. They are themed either Jaws, Thomas Jefferson, or Captain Janeway. I took two small dinosaurs And signed the log with glory glory to Georgia. Thanks for maintaining this geocache, and we look forward to the next. From Virginia, USA.

On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Smile From day 49/74, I was accompanied by my dear son, geocacher Ruupertti, who travelled from Finland to visit me in Australia and to spend a holiday with me in New Zealand at the end of my secondment. Day 66/74, Wednesday, and also my birthday. Smile Finally time for our holiday in the beautiful New Zealand, day 2/7! Smile Today was a long day. We drove from Auckland to Wellington, and experienced some awesome things between, such as Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland, Huka Falls, World's coolest McDonalds and the oldest cache of New Zealand. It was just one day on the North Island and a lot of kilometers, but at least we managed to see some lovely places. We were in Wellington at midnight. A great day!Uh, it was really late, almost midnight, before we got here. But this was one of the most important caches, if not the most important one, for me in New Zealand. A favorite point from me. We had driven a lot and we were really tired, but my dear Ruupertti volunteered to walk with me to the cache in the middle of the night, in total darkness. Together it was fun, alone it would have been a bit scary. I will remember this walk for a long time. Smile The cache was found quickly and we also found one of the dead possums that were mentioned in previous logs. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! A gruesome sight awaited us as we started our little tour today. Two dead possums (which is good) had to be crossed before we found the cache. My kids didnt believe that could be it, but it was TFTC

This cache was at the top of my list to find. I read about it, asked friends about how to approach it, and even got advice from my new NZ geofriends who I met at my event in the morning. I was ready!!I parked where I was supposed to and headed down the road. As I made my way to GZ, I questioned my choice of taking the path along the roadway. Was I supposed to be on the other side of the stream on that path? I pushed on and as I got closer to GZ asked a walker if he was local and could he tell me if I would have a way across the stream from the road soon. He confirmed the existence of a bridge so I felt a lot better as I continued on.Yep. There it was. A new suspension bridge since I could see an older version not too far away. It took me to the path I needed to make my way to the cache. There was no one else around as I headed off the trail and then I saw it! The oldest cache in NZ. Woohoo!! I was happy to add my name to the log. Thank you for the smiley and the fun! Sidenote: I am about a month behind on logging caches since I have been traveling. Just a few days after I found this cache, it was featured on the geocaching Facebook page. My pictures looked almost exactly like the ones they shared. It was so fun to have just found this cache and then see it posted. Geocaching is never boring. The day:Today continued my week-long adventure solo from the U.S. on the North Island. I started out early so I could get as much in as possible before darkness fell. I found caches, met so local cachers, walked for miles, and drove for many more. It was another grand day. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that you are appreciated.

It feels great to have found a cache hidden the very first month.I couldn't resist taking a photo with my name badge. There's plenty of photos showing the cache in the gallery, so one more won't hurt. Thanks for keeping this old cache going.

On our ninth day in New Zealand we visit Wellington.GC46 was the main cache I wanted to visit. Thanks for maintaining this old cache.TFTCHennesAt the end comes the poem of the day.New Zealand By James K. Baxter (for Monte Holcroft)These unshaped islands, on the sawyers bench,Wait for the chisel of the mind,Green canyons to the south, immense and passive,Penetrated rarely, seeded onlyBy the deer-cullers shot, or else in the northTribes of the shark and the octopus,Mangroves, black hair on a boxers hand. The founding fathers with their guns and bibles,Botanist, whaler, added bones and namesTo the land, to us a bridleAs if the id were a horse: the swampy townsLike dreamers that struggle to wake,Longing for the poets truthAnd the lovers pride. Hello from Seattle! After an amazing trip along the southern coast of Australia heading from Sydney to Adelaide to attend a Mega-Event with my fellow Lackey and best Geobuddy Giacaches, we headed over to New Zealand for a week of caching and adventure - as I often say, we've never been closer, so it made perfect sense to plan for a stop. We have a loop around the North Island on the schedule, and I'm so excited to see all the things there is to see! After a great CITO event, we headed straight to this cache. As with so many geocachers heading to New Zealand, this cache was high on our list to find. Once we learned where it was, we soon built our road trip with this cache in mind. The sun came out right as we arrived which made it a bit muggy. The directions were clear and we had no trouble getting to or finding the cache - love that! We signed in with our sticker (discover it if you see it!) Thanks so much for the cache and for adding to our awesome adventure!

Greetings from Seattle! I traveled down under with jtcoffee to attend the Great Leap Forward Mega-Event in Adelaide on Leap Day. Of course, a trip from Seattle to Australia just wouldn't be complete without a detour through New Zealand Per usual, We're squeezing in as many extra activities as we can, including, but not limited to: Logging our geocache finds in the southern hemisphere Finding Australia's oldest, [GC3E](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3E) at Lane Cove, and the first-ever Earthcache, [GCHFT2](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCHFT2) Enjoying the spectacle of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Sydney Cruising along the scenic Great Ocean Road Completing a challenge that requires finding 31 Earthcaches and 31 Virtuals in 31 days ([GC32TBZ](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC32TBZ) and [GC32TC2](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC32TC2)) Finding the oldest cache placed outside of the US, [GC46](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC46) Exploring the iconic Lord of the Rings filming locations across New Zealand This was absolutely a "must-do." Thanks to all who have played a part in keeping this cache in play all these years and thus contributing to our epic adventure

Got into Wellington yesterday. This was the first order of business for today. Made the drive around the bay to the parking lot about a mile from GZ. Nice gentle walk between the ridges! Eventually crossed the nice bouncy bridge and I was at GZ shortly after. I followed a geotrail right to it. This cache marks the 57th of 114 year 2000 caches that I've found! I'm halfway there! Pretty park.

Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we took the bus from Rotorua to Wellington. Thanks for this geocache. Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

Third day in New Zealand ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary country and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. After a stopover in Qatar and 8 days in Australia, our journey continued from Auckland to Queenstown with various stopovers.A visit to this cache is of course a must if you are in the area. After arriving in Wellington, a small group chartered an Uber to take us to this oldie ??. It's always a special moment when your name is in the logbook. Thank you for laying & taking care all this years Smile.Dritter Tag in Neuseeland ??.

# 21510Whau, I am on a three week trip with Cacher-Reisen and a bunch of fellow geocachers to Australia and New Zealand. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting. The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature.Today we had a long drive from Rotorua to Wellington. In Australia we stayed for more days in the same place and travelled by plane between stops, but in New Zealand we went by bus and only stayed one night in the same place. I would have loved to have more days in New Zealand to really see the country, the nature, the likeness and differences from home and just to be at peace with the country. We had a bit more time on the South Island, but the North Island is also beautiful, and I hope to come back to visit New Zealand again. This is one of seven remaining caches from May 2000, and for that reason it was high on my list of priorities for this trip. I was beginning to feel a little under the weather, but I could pull myself up for this. It will be my fifth cache from May 2000, and I hope to find the last two also, which are Beverly and Geocache 612 in USA. We left the hotel in small groups to fit in various Ubers and we arrived at the parking area with some intervals, and we could hike out to the cache in our small groups and enjoy finding this old cache in our own speed. Such a nice walk in a beautiful area, and blended off for most traffic. We had a nice leisurely walk to the cache. We had different opinions on the bridges/'water-cross-ways' in our little group, and we each could take the route that suited us best. I had to take the old wobbly bridge SmileTak for cachen til wainuiomata.

We are on a trip in New Zealand. A wonderful country with a lot of (old )caches. There are too many caches so we limit ourselves to the (old) gems or where we happen to make a stop. We drove to this cache directly from this boat from Picton. It should have been a 30 minute drive, but due to traffic jam and roadworks it took us 50 minutes. I hoped to park close to the cache but that turned out not to be possible. We parked at the parking coordinate of GCADZ09. From there it was more than a 20-minute walk. The cache was quickly found and signed. This cache completes my 2nd Jasmer. Very happy with it. This trip there were 4 planned for the 2nd Jasmer and we succeeded. Now I can go on holiday.??Kevin Anderson, thank you for this cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction. ??

A group of 38 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland - Team Downunder24 - are traveling for 22 days from Frankfurt/Main via Doha to Australia and New Zealand. I was able to discover many wonderful things and irretrievable experiences are burned into my memory. Wow, another old cache that I absolutely had to visit. ...and here I had the chance. Thanks to Kevin Anderson for the cache, luring and caring for it - kind regards from Switzerland ????
