Well I made this one way more difficult than it needed to be. I thought Id spotted the hint item but once I had mountain goated to it and removed the 2 stones all I found was a snail shell. Hmm. Headed back up the hill for an easy find . TFTC
L'ton expedition continues, whilst dodging the wild weather, winds and wain. Grabbed this one on our way out of town to progress a 10 stage AdLab. Got a couple of good pics of the bridge, and the cache as a bonus. Took a little bit of scouting about 5m or so from GZ ? Thanks for this cache on a nice piece of early crafstman build infrastructure. Long may it live !
Swampy and I decided to visit Stanley with the aim of adding Pine Nut (GC52EF) to my list of oldest caches found. After an excellent trip, visiting the Hydro Power Trail along the way, we continued heading North West caching as we went. We found many different type of hides, cache containers and conditions. We fixed what was needed and replaced as found. What they all had in common was getting 2 geeks outside for some exercise. I came back via Launceston and found caches there too. This find, Strathroy Bridge Over Jingler's, brings my total to 1740 and was found at 12:26 on 10/6/2024.Thanks Hilberts for playing the game and giving us another reason to visit this area. Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
This morning, minisqwash and I got up nice and early to attend the Anzac Day Dawn service at Longford. Then off for a few geocaches. This cache was #8 out of 10 for the day, although a few I reviewed so minisqwash could log then as finds more he has his own account. Was a nice and easy find. TFTC. Cache is in excellent condition.
This morning I went to the Anzac Day Dawn Service with geomum Sqwash. This was cache #8 for the day. Really quick, easy and done
Container needs replacing as bottom is cracked and hole in it. looks like it been caught with a whipper snipper or similar.
I had looked for this one before and gave up as the grass was too long and a bit dangerous. Going past this time the grass had all been mowed and an easy little find.
In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find.Dropping one of the sons off at the air port, so great opportunity to make this quick find while passing. Thanks Hilberts for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Found this time! careful as there is a huge bull ant nest next to cache. Wear good shoes- they were climbing my kids legs
TFTC. Due to the vine growth you dont need to go down the slope towards the vines it is on the level area.
Didnt have a good look due to the long grass and snake weather- also the traffic with young kids
Third time looking through the shrubs to try and find this one with no luck. Tricky terrain. Will try again when the grass has been cut shorter by council. A great spot to come to though, glad we stopped by to check out the bridge. (:
Tricky on to get too, but made it! Don't need to go far from the Launceston end of the bridge
Wasnt prepared for all the grass and vines, going to come back another day in more appropriate shoes
Parked the GeoMobile in the handy parking spot some 100m away and made my way back watching for oncoming traffic. A strange grey colored 737 flew in and wasn't visible on FlightRadar24. Maybe the PM was planning a visit to Launceston too like me ha ha.
The cache was found after a slow walk to the spot with all the wet grass after the icy night just gone and the cache was found swiftly. There is a big hole in the bottom end of the container but the bag was doing it's job well so the logbook was dry. The plastic dinosaur in the cache was almost free... if he gets loose Launnie will be in hard lockdown lol.

Had a friend who lived at Strathroy many moons ago so thought I'd pop up and see if I could collect this cache while waiting to pick up a friend at the airport. By the time I got here it was a bit dark to be stomping around in long grass on edge of river, so will have to return.
Today I stopped to have a closer look at the stonework in this old bridge when I happened to checked my geo app. Bonus…. a history lesson and a cache

Found after checking both sides of the wall. Second time looking through long grass.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Didn’t find the cache, I guess there’s more vegetation than when was placed, and the sort of rubbish around is not inviting to just poke your hands in there.
However, it’s a sensational spot. I walked a bit further and the bridge is just gorgeous! The light wasn’t in my favour, but still thought it was worth adding a photo! Thanks for making me stop!

Will have to come back in daylight! Thought we could avoid cars in the dark but didn’t account for the lack of visibility
Did this in the middle the night and looked like an absolute weirdo or someone who was bout to off themselves. Being waist deep in blackberry bushes is not my idea of a good time so left pretty quick. Thanks though.
Tried to stop quickly but given overgrown grass, much traffic and much rubbish and roadkill decided to jog on. Have included picture of one drain hole we could see - and where the app buzzed - but you can see why we didn't persue. It's unreachable from the other side due to height.
The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

Thank you to the person that said 7mtrs back from the GPS coordinate.
Do not go into the waterway.

It's really overgrown with long grass, nettles, and ivy. I spent a good while pulling plants away from the wall, but couldn't find a drain. It got too cold and dark so I decided to try another time.
I know this bridge well. It was the part where you'd catch your breath after riding up Leighton Springworks hill. Another source for Jinglers Creek was right near where i used to live. We went for a drive around 1km away, the market gardens and grazing paddocks have given way to sub divisions, although the houses are still there.

after a full weekend of caching this was collected on the way home, an easy find with clues, This old road is just as busy as the new highway, with trucks and buses, not much space either side of the road on the bridge, it was built a very long time ago and still in use, so it was well built. TFTC TNLN log dry, all good at GZ for a 7 year old cache.
Touring Tassie and finding some caches along the way. Today was spent at Evandale to see the penny farthing races and enjoy the festival with Scotjohnos. TFTC
TFTC quick find after a great day in Evandale at the Penny Farthing festival with Stopalot
Suscoe was enjoying our last day in Launceston.
It turned out to be a mixed day weather wise with cloud, drizzle and sunshine later on.
There was also a decent breeze as well.
Thanks to the Hilberts for this hide.
All quiet over this side of the wall.
Looks like some development is planned nearby with council notifications on wooden posts to the north of the bridge.

Got it. Was a bit damp but could still write in the log. Cache number 50 for us!!
Today we decided to head back to Hobart from Devonport after attending 2 events over the last few days. We decided to go via all our solved but unfound puzzle caches and any other caches that we may drive by, this was one of them.
Think we have driven by this cache a few times but not on the correct road! We nearly drove past today but make membsec turned around and the cache was quickly found. We had to be so careful with everything as the wind was so strong it wanted to take away the container and it’s contents!

Hi Hilberts thank you for placing a cache by this Convict Bridge. As others have said and now I have read a lot of history around the build and subsequent National Heritage listing. Parked at the coordinates and wandered along to find GZ on a lovely spring morning. Plenty of traffic on the highway and a easy find thanks to the hint. The cache is hidden well and all nice and dry inside. Love reading activity logs fancy trying to approach the cache from the other side Nataliec1234 love it!
Have spotted this bridge quite a few times from the other road, so this time made sure I was on the correct one. Great bridge - have vague memories of finding another cache near here quite a few years ago. Found without too much trouble, signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache Hilberts.

Tassie Trip Day 180 - Its time for a little drive today we traveled to Evendale and collected some caches along the way whilst admiring the lovely country side that is everywhere.
After driving past this cache on more than one occasion but on the wrong road the correction was made and we traveled on the correct road and made the stop at the bridge and conducted our search and after a successful search the log was singed and then returned to the spot at which it was found.
Thanks Hilberts for this interesting place to stop and cache.

A quick drive by this afternoon. Cache is 7m from GZ
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

We've recently been staying in Launceston over the Australia Day long weekend, and now it's time for us to head home to Hobart - making sure to get a couple of caches along the way, of course!
We've been staying in Kings Meadows, so we elected to depart Launceston via Hobart Rd in order to pick this one up along the way. Unfortunately for us, that meant parking at the wrong end of the bridge. Rather than walk across the bridge (with nowhere to hide from oncoming traffic), we elected to scramble down the bank, across the creek, and back up the other side - quite a challenge in itself due to the long grass and blackberries! It did make for a very interesting view of the bridge, however!
A quick search of the bridge turned up a few potential hiding spots, but no cache. Fortunately the hint narrowed down the location somewhat, and the cache was soon in hand.
This one was a great spot that we've driven past (and over) many times in the past, but never stopped to really pay any attention to the bridge itself. We're definitely grateful for a reason to stop and have a good look at this very interesting bridge!

This took a bit of searching to find, and I spotted the hide on my return from the lower section. I found the cache about seven metres higher up the slope than my GPS indicated. Muddy fingers after retrieving the cache and the two plastic bags for the log are wise, keeping it dry. TFTC Hilberts.
Looking here, looking there, looking everywhere. Stood back to admire like a previous cacher, got an idea - nope..... mmmm well this one is looking like a DNF......had virtually given up when suddenly out of the corrner of my eye, could it be....YES....it was, big smiles. SL TFTC Hilberts
This one had me scratching my head for some time, where was it? So I stepped back to take a nice photo and I realised what I was looking for, so once the nice photo was taken, I wandered back and found the little hidey hole very easily, log signed and on my way. TFTC.
trip to home from devonport for weekend..

Oh dear !!
I was muggled out here by a maintenance worker,
re-pointing the stones on the bridge
No chance of a find today

No chance of a find today
Did not need to do maintenance - a few DNF posts does not mean that there is a problem with a cache
Cache is still there!!! As it’s a bit damp I’ve put a new container but it’s in the same place
Will temporarily disable until I get a moment to swing by the cache and replace. Xmas & holidays away have delayed me unfortunately!
No joy for us today. Thanks anyway Hilberts. We will watch future logs with interest.
