We planned another vacation to include gambling and geocaching. We made an early start driving form Colorado to Las Vegas. We stoped for only one small string of caches on the way, that being the nut run. We plan to do some caching in the Las Vegas area tomorrow.
Day two of our caching didn't start off as well as we had hoped. On the way to Vegas yesterday we noticed a strange sound coming from our rental car, but after several inspections we could not pinpoint the problem. After another stop Mrs. SDC finally spotted what could be the problem. There was a huge hunk of rubber missing from the sidewall of the tire as well as a piece missing from the rim
. We called the rental car company in Colorado and they said take it to the nearest Budget rental car place and get it exchanged. Well that wound up taking about three hours so needless to say we got a late start. We did however complete our caching task for the day 
.
Day three: We got a fairly early start and worked the North Las Vegas area. The only problems we had was with one of the city's finest. As we crossed an intersection and pulled off the road, he must have kept an eye on us. He made a u-turn and continued to watch us as we signed the log and moved on to the nest cache. He followed us and parked across from the lot that we were in. We began looking for the cache, then he decided to pull up and ask what we were doing. After Mr. SDC spoke to him a while he moved on and so did we. We want to thank all the cache owners for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment. SL, TFTC
Day four of caching, five of our vacation started very early. We got on the road before daybreak as we had a good drive just from Las Vegas to the start of the HMD trail. We decided to go ahead and top off the tank in Parker, as we did not know if there would be any services along Highway 62. It was a good thing we did because there wasn't anything until we got to Twentynine Palms where we planned to stay for the night. Since we weren't planning on going to Parker we didn't load any caches, but we did manage to bring some up with c:geo. For the most part the weather was overcast and mild, but we did hit a bit of high winds and light rain showers as the day progressed. We cached until it got dark. We were amazed with the miles of "rock art" along the railroad bed.
Got another early start to finish up the HMD series and we're glad we did, as it was hotter today then yesterday. We didn't have a lot of issues, just found serval containers at quite a few caches again. For the whole series the only critters we came across was one coyote and a bunch of lizards. Thankfully no snakes or scorpions. It was an enjoyable series being on paved roads, just a little touch and go entering and exiting the road for the caches.

After a 7 day 6,000 km road trip through a bunch of the lower Sates I picked up Adroit Seeker and Rain Willowsnap at the Vegas airport and we headed over to Parker, AZ to hit up the heart of the Mojave power trail.
Yesterday we decided to get a head start and managed to knock off 250 caches before heading back to sleep.
Got up early and headed out and cached our way to Twenty Nine Palms where we checked in to our hotel and grabbed a short nap during the hottest part of the day. After a quick dinner we hit the PT again finishing just after 9:30 pm and logging 765 caches for the day.

Day 2 of our Mojave Desert Geocaching trip with Roman and Rain Willowsnap, where continued on the series from where we left off yesterday. Got into 29 Palms about 3pm and had a rest before we continued and finished the series off.

Second day of our Mojave Desert geocaching trip with Adroit Seeker and Roman. Got a head start with the first 250 caches yesterday, and continued on the series today. Had a rest in the mid-afternoon before heading back out for some more caches after it cooled down a bit.

This road trip was hatched about a year ago by Tycoon Otto and myself. The original plan was to go back down to the US and hit some power trails, but it morphed into a 13 day, 17,500km geo-odyssey. During this road trip I had several highlights:
1) Got my 7,000th cache and well onto my way to 8,000.
2) Signed 1,026 caches in a single day (HMD power trail California).
3) Visited 18 states in one single 24 hour period.
4) Got 12 different cache types in a single day.
5) Visited "Mingo" the oldest active cache in the world.
6) Signed 1,548 caches during this 13 day period.
7) Cached in 48 states.
More importantly, there were several memories and sites I will never forget. I thoroughly enjoyed the town of St. Charles, Missouri and Cadillac ranch on Route 66.
I will post a picture of our track log in GCZ02V (Seeing Seagulls) and GCMQ1X (Weigh up), the first and last caches in this road trip.
As always caching with Tycoon Otto was a blast. Thanks again for a great caching experience.

Day 8 - May 22nd - Vermont, New York (again), Pennsylvania (again), Ohio (again), Michigan, and Indiana (12 caches)
Day 9 - May 23rd - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri (26 caches)
Day 10 - May 24th - St Charles for Geowoodstock XII - 12 cache types in one day - Letterbox, CITO, Event, Wherigo, Multi, Earthcache, Traditional, Mystery, Virtual, Mega, Lab, Benchmark, we actually did a webcam too, but listing was locked by Groundspeak (27 caches plus 10 lab caches)
Day 11 - May 25th - signed "Mingo" cache - Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska (108 caches)
Day 12 - May 26th - completed a 5 cache - 5 state challenge - Nebraska, South Dakoda, Wyoming, North Dakoda and Montana (35 caches)
Day 13 - May 27th - Montana and Idaho, return to Kelowna (5 caches)

Visiting the US as a team for the 2nd time, our mission to complete the ET series but before and after do some more exploring and geocaching along the way. Our tour starts around Barstow and a few days in Las Vegas before caching over to 29 Palms before hitting the ET Highway straying at Rachel and Tonapah.
Our second stage of our trip saw us doing a loop around Wyoming, Nebraska, Sth & Nth Dakota and Montana before finishing back in Los Angles, our finds for the trip totalled well over 4,000 geocaches.
