This one rocked! Nice to tick this one up. Good find. Tftc!

14-Jul-24
Solved this series years ago and found some then. In the area today so headed for a walk to this one. A quick find at gz. Thanks for keeping the series going.

12-Feb-24
Fast find, cache is good order. Found with geotween, Aurora11511. Very much enjoyed this series, TFTC Smile

20-Dec-23
Replaced container & now has a new log. Please use the rocks to re-cover.

07-Dec-23
#332.It's a pity this cache was not in the best condition (the log) was mushy and not signable. As for the location well that was superb.Another Kiwi marked off.TFTC.

23-Oct-23
Great hide - original container seen better days but outer one all good. Lovely day out. Many thanks

13-Oct-23
Search and sum.Um, I borrowed someone's driveway to park. And made it a park & run & and grab, haha.Wanted to make this as quick as possible before the car was seen. Was a bit hindered as the log was a bit wet, and the inner container has a broken lid.Managed to dry and sign the log, which was damp. We ran back to the car and vanished without being seen.Perhaps Friday the 13th doesn't give bad luck?Nah, that would be silly.Cheers.Sleepy was here!

29-Sep-23
On a mission to finally make a concerted effort to knock off some more of the kiwi. So I concentrated on this side of the lagoon. Lots of walking and running between caches as I parked my car at convenient locations. This wasmy first find for the day. Yay. Tftc and series.

Day 7: We ( TeamARF, Gcoven and myself) have travelled over from Brisbane, Australia to have a visit since we were not able to make it to the Mega. We have spent some considerable time solving puzzles and making plans in preparation. We have a gigantic list of old, interesting, highly favourited, challenges and a few Geo-arts to try and collect over the next 10 days. There is a good chance we got lazy with our logging, or space saving depending on the log size and do some joint variation of our initials - TGJ, GJT or JGT.

Today the plan is to work on collecting things of our list - some of the very old caches in and around Wellington and trying to complete Kiwi Geo-art. We are also picking up a few challenges (will check qualifying once home).

Please excuse the generic log, just have extremely little data to try and survive on it for the 10 days. However, you can be assured that if we have found your cache it was special to us for some reason or in a special location - so thank you for contributing to our holiday.

I will edit logs when back in Brisbane to add more details to those that need more details and of course I will be adding favourite points as I go along.

21-Apr-23
Another day in the land of the long white cloud. TeamARF, JACSTeam and I headed south to Wellington. Lots of rainy caching but still some awesome caches and spectacular locations. Thanks to all COs!!

20-Apr-23
After a big day cache collecting around Wellington we got back here about 4PM. Our aim is now to collect as many kiwi puzzles before the sun goes down, basically our last opportunity before heading north tomorrow. Some DNFs but this was not one of them. Thanks to all the COs for adopting and maintaining part of this series.

03-Mar-23
Cache was an easy find, a fun puzzle. Was a few days back when I actually found this one and it was soaaaaaked through when I did, so might warrant a CO check. Tftc! Smile

01-Jan-23
Took us a bit as the gps wandered but we looked at picture and found it that way

01-Jan-23
Another smiley added to the kiwi! So cool solving and finding this series.

Nice easy find along the boardwalk. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.

Quick find. Tftc

We have a bit of a mystery as found this cache container today as we looked in a random place and went - look there’s a cache. It may not be where it should be but I haven’t solved it yet but where I found it doesn’t link to the clue at all

05-Sep-22
We walked right past this one so had to get it on the way back. Mr M5 went straight to the right spot. TFTC

I'm on a geocaching roadie from Whangarei to Dunedin. I've had lots of puzzles solved for such a long time so geoarts were the main target of the trip.
Now it's time to start writing the massive backlog of logs which is taking a while.

In Palmy area I wanted the shield series and the 20/20 geoart. Then Wairarapa was stickman (which we ran out of time for), the new M geoart and some archived skindo challenges. Wellington was finishing off the kiwi geoart. Nelson I had a few challenges I wanted before heading to Christchurch. It was family time there and perhaps the smile series but time ran out again. Off to Dunedin for the airplane geoart. Then it was time to fly home to say goodbye to my son heading to Denmark.

My friend Supernanny came along on the trip but today she spent with family. I teamed up with 0B80B8 - a fellow team G0LD mate from Whangarei.

This puzzle series I started years ago. Some I solved in September 2015. I collected some at the Wellington Mega in 2018 but time was against me as well as roadworks on Gray's Rd. I had to resolve some as the puzzles as hides had changed since I started solving them. We parked further along and walked to this one. A quick easy find. Thanks for keeping the Geoart going Smile

Was down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but the following days were quite nice, so managed to get in a little caching.

The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target today. As luck would have it, fellow Team G0LD member Lis was driving through Porirua today, on her way to the South Island and she still had a few Kiwis left to find, so we teamed up for a few hours, to see if we could knock the series off.

We also had a little trouble deciding which was the NE corner, but cache was soon found anyway, so no problems really. TFTC

08-May-22
Great hide for this one. The co-ordinates were absolutely bang on. Another find by the eagle eyed KTG... I made myself useful by standing still so she could sign the log on my back for both of us. Log in great condition. TFTC

08-May-22
Much to ’s amusement, it took me a while to figure out which was the NE corner when at the coordinates here - it would have been faster to just check all four corners A nice quick find nonetheless. The cache was in surprisingly good condition give. The location. Such a lovely part of Porirua, thanks for the reason to visit. KTG

21-Feb-22
Only a few left to find on the Kiwi GT. Stopped this afternoon to grab this one, a gorgeous day by the inlet. Found as per hint. All good. Tftc!

10-Feb-22
Out doing some rehab therapy

12-Jan-22
Nice quick find, took longer to wait for a gap in traffic to grab it. TFTC

13-Dec-21
Joined lots of Guardians and a few other geocachers who each had a section of the Pauatahanui Inlet coastline walkway to clean up. I had the section along Grays Road to Kiwi GeoTrail Toru Tekau ma Toru. Continuing along the circuit this was my last geocache for the day before returning to my car and heading homewards.
An enjoyable day. TFTC and the nights of puzzle solving, way back prior to the WENZ MEGA back in 2018.

29-Nov-21
Found after the beach cleanup event having solved during lockdown 2. Nice hide.
Thanks!

08-Nov-21
This one you are exposed to traffic, both the vehicular and walking muggles kind. Used my nephew as lookout. I must take more notice of the compass points!
Container not water proof, so double bagged log for good measure, all dry and tucked away again. TFTC.

09-Oct-21
Ok this took a lot longer than it should have! how many times does one have to be on hands and knees between muggles to find a cache? Quite a few for this one Smile Lots of muggles and lots of where else could it be? before i finally found it. Awesome work RogerW1nz and XboomstickX - a great little hide and a lovely spot. TFTC.

24-Jul-21
Good place for cache. First thought it had been flooded out but then my daughter found it. Thanks for the cache.

13-Jun-21
Have spent last week solving these puzzles with just 6 unsolved. Spending the weekend in Whitby so decided to start collecting as many as I can today. Ended up walking round the whole loop. Fortunately got my bearing right so it was a quick find. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley.

05-Jun-21
Completed the whole top half of the kiwi! Yay. Been a long haul of solving and getting out here to grab so nice to see it take shape.

28-Mar-21
I'm ticking this series off in dribs and drabs - this is my tenth Kiwi GeoTrail visit which allowed me to grab another five caches, and I am now two thirds of the way through the series. I'm a little concerned a couple of the series have been archived since my Kiwi GeoTrail trip so I hope I get to complete it before we lose too many more.

This was my third find of the series today. It was rather well hidden but I managed to find it reasonably quickly. Nice and snug in its hiding spot. Thanks to the COs and RogerW1nz for maintaining this.

Finally got around to checking this one, and guess what, it’s right where it should be. However it’s quite damp inside, so I took the opportunity to replace the original container with a larger one, with a smaller one inside. All good to go again!

29-Nov-20
Looks like it might have gone AWOL. Will check on soon as I can.

28-Nov-20
Located three caches today, but that was offset by three DNFs, a rather sad ratio really! Spent a few minutes looking for this one but without success. Checked other ’corners’ too in case my sense of direction wasn’t quite right! This one hasn’t been found for almost nine months which, of course, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not there. If it is still there it certainly eluded me today!

28-Sep-20
Kiwi GeoTrail Rua Tekau ma Rima (25) (Porirua) was transferred from WhitbyTui to user RogerW1nz

03-Mar-20
Thanks for the hide.

20-Feb-20
Checked this one again today and great news a replacement cache is in place, not quite under the bridge but certainly under! This completes the Kiwi GeoTrail, many thanks to all those involved with setting it up and maintaining it. TFTC.

I have lost my notebook! Sad When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks. I mean, I can see the final on the map, and sometimes that sparks a memory, but mostly - no.
Many thanks for a great geoart. I have been saving this for when I can do the whole lot in one day.

04-Jan-20
Running around Pahatahanui Inlet today to capture a family of Kiwis roaming around here. Kiwi #25 was remaining elusive. With such good hint we arranged a replacement to keep this one rolling along. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.

Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today thats been on The Seagnoids 'must do' list for some time. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

22-Nov-19
MightyMicra and I have been busy solving many of the Kiwi Geo Trail puzzles and now we are out for an afternoon to see how many of the caches we can find. We spent a long time at this location but returned a few hours later after finding a cache with a theme which we thought would fit with this one. But no luck. Thanks for the effort of setting up and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

22-Nov-19
Out with RedEcho this avo searching for caches round this side of the inlet. Searched everywhere relating to the location and hint but did not find. Will keep an eye on this one in the future to see if anyone logs as found.

Today is the 13th day of our journey to the south island. After spending a quiet night at the Waikanae River Mouth campsite we started the day with a morning walk up the hill to the lookout at the nikau reserve after enjoying a nice breakfast at the river. We located the two caches there before we continued heading south. As we were going to drive past the Queen Elizabeth Park we quickly grabed the oldie there before continueing our journey to Rivendell. After visiting Rivendell we stopped at another cache on our way out before heading back towards Porirua. On the way back we stopped for some dinner and I managed to solve the rest of the Kiwi trail puzzles. As we had planed to get them all before we continue to Wellington we had planed a long day for tomorrow.
On the way to the campsite we managed to find 7 of the 61 caches in this trail. This was #5.
This puzzle was solved during our dinner stop tonight. A nice quick find at GZ with our head torches. Not much traffic around at this time. Tftc.

28-Jun-19
Had a little walk around the inlet after a spot of lunch, picking up some kiwicaches along the way.

Took forever to find this one because I was waiting for traffic. Eventually stopped worrying and just ducked under and grabbed it. Neat spot.

Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 7-8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).

I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.

#30 of 70 today. Nice to find another 'small' sized container. The bag was replaced with one that didn't have a hole.

08-Jun-19
I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.

In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.

This one took us a just little longer than I had expected in spite of looking in the correct spot. The ground was very wet so getting down on hands and knees took a bit more effort but persistence paid off. On opening the container, we found the logsheet had been placed in a form of plastic bag completely unsuitable for the task (it had holes in it by design!) so we replaced it with a better one after signing the log.

Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

20-May-19
Initially I thought this one had gone AWOL but it turned out I just hadn't looked deep enough. Pleased to get the smilely here. TFTC # 13,746

22-Apr-19
Just when I was contemplating abandoning the whining micro-cachers...... Small hands came in useful!

Our kiwi is growing!

Thanks.

19-Apr-19
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and hoped today was finally the day we finished off the Kiwi Geo Trail. An easy find here but I scratched my arm retrieving it. First to sign the nice new logbook. Thanks to both the original owner and now the adoptive owner for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy. Smile

08-Feb-19
New cache box and log book in place, on that wonderful waterproof paper. Fingers crossed for not getting soaked by a spring or king tide!

06-Feb-19
Can confirm new cache and log book is in place. Please note that I will be going through the old log book (it's still readable) and deleting any online logs which don't tie in with the physical log book.

03-Feb-19
Kiwi GeoTrail Rua Tekau ma Rima (25) (Porirua) was transferred from Cherrys Rule to user WhitbyTui

03-Feb-19
This cache will be replaced on Monday 4th Feb. It's still there but in poor shape. Aros71 and I have a new container sorted, with waterproof paper for the log.

21-Jan-19
Found on a sunny afternoon taking in several of these caches in one trip. TFTC

21-Jan-19
NEEDS MAINTENANCE - there was about half an inch of water inside the container and the logbook was soaked, I had to scratch rather than write my log entry.

21-Jan-19
Find # 203. Found with Aros71 on a quick jaunt out to grab more of these hides. Nearly done with the Kiwi!! Found the cache find, but there was a bunch of seawater in it. Tipped that out but didn't have a cloth or spare log book - will make a mental note to carry these with me next time - so couldn't perform maintenance, apologies for that. TFTC CherrysRule.

21-Jan-19
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

22-Oct-18
Day 9 of my road trip for WENZ Mega. After a rescue mission I was in the right place to find much of this series. Most were solved some years ago.
A quick find here, but I nearly pushed it further under. Yikes! All good though.
Thanks for the smilie XboomstickX and Cherrys Rule.

21-Oct-18
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

21-Oct-18
TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

21-Oct-18
WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...

Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... Onto the Kiwi Geo Trail. We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...

We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

21-Oct-18
Headed to the Nation's capital for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters to visit the MEGA and have a blast hooning around in our rental car. I grabbed TG at 5.30 am to get to the airport and we picked up the car from the airport at 8am. We figured we needed to be back at the depot by 4.30ish. We had a blast we didn't get crazy amounts of caches but we did get heaps of different types and scored the oldest one for TG. We ended up only driving 150km for the day. The weather was good. Caches were fun and bumped into a few cachers on the road.
Another one off the art work.

Thanks for the cache Cherrys Rule.
#5677

Cache number 29 of a total of 52 for today!

21-Oct-18
Caching the GeoArt trail with purdiepurdie & warfi; getting towards the middle of the day now.
Thanks for maintaining these caches, Cherrys Rule.

21-Oct-18
Another nice quick find. We are getting through them. Tftc

21-Oct-18
Talking with TheWanglers, an age ago it seems; that if WENZ made Mega we should look at taking a daytrip up from Christchurch to visit.....It did; and as it worked out - we could. So here we are. Early morning flight in, and a late afternoon flight out. A day trip full of fun, caches, dodgy parking...and more fun.
TW dropped me off and drove down the road....this took a bit of finding as the person before me must have chucked it under...and it was waaaaay under. Found, signed then put it in a nicer spot just under! On walking around to TW he was talking to Bennett24 - they were heading the opposite direction so I told them I'd put the cache in an easier spot to grab that I had had!

21-Oct-18
Out geocaching with Bennett24 day after Mega and came out this way to get a few puzzle caches on the kiwitrail - I didn't solve these before we came out so I've been solving them today so that I can feel justified logging the caches. In the end the solves weren't tricky. Didn't do all of them so just logging the ones where I was there for the ride.

Parked on the far side of the road here on a farm entry which got us well off the road. As we were looking The Wanglers and another Christchurch cacher turned up too (forgot the name of the second cacher sorry), it was nice to finally meet The Wanglers as I've enjoyed some of their caches in Christchurch when visiting there for work.

All good here, thanks for the cache.

21-Oct-18
Solved this series a while ago, many of the puzzles were reasonably straightforward but a few required a bit more work to get the right answer. We came down this weekend to attend the MEGA nearby so planned to spend a few hours on the Sunday in this area to pickup this series. That proved a little more challenging than first thought as we had plenty of other distractions in Upper Hutt and there is a lot more walking involved to grab some of these caches than we had anticipated. We ended up getting around half of them on the Northern side of the harbour (some of which proved to be difficult to find places to park on the side of a busy road) before we had to get back to the airport. Thanks for this interesting series.

Found with Tuolei - walked back to this one as there was no parking nearby. Sounds like we had an easier find than the previous cacher who we had just met as the cache was way under the bridge when they found it.

21-Oct-18
Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks

21-Oct-18
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, Philip Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers

18-Oct-18
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.

18-Oct-18
5thof the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. New Zealand birds are certainly unique and my favourite is the pukeho! We ended up having a conversation with a dog walking muggle about geocaching. TFTC.

18-Sep-18
It was a nice afternoon in Wellington. I had got to work reasonably early (well before 8am) and, sice it was so nice and sunny, decided to leave a bit earlier than usual to come home via the Pauatahunui Inlet in ordee to do a bit of maintenance on the caches I own that are out this way.

This cache was one of the ones I stopped to check on. The log paper here was sodden and almost impossible to write on. I replaced the log and dried out the container in the sun. It should be good to go for a while now, or at least until it gets soaked again by a spring tide!

Cherrys Rule

12-Aug-18
In the area trying to finish off the Kiwi. A quick find where expected. Log paper very damp and barely writable. TFTC

03-Jul-18
Enjoyed the puzzle, finding the cache was a bit tricky, had to get right onto knees to look and then really stretch my arms, log and cache contents are very wet, tipped out water, JUST managed to sign log

15-Apr-18
Had to be a bit strategic here to time grabbing and returning in between muggles (some with doggles) enjoying a stroll on a nice Sunday afternoon.
As mentioned by previous owners there are damages issues here, I was able to sign the replacement log but it is starting to get affected by the moisture too.
TFTC.

So Gr33nslime had been going on about this solar, universe challenge thing (?) for a few days and with the weekend approaching, we decided it was time to dust off the old geocaching shoes and go out on the hunt again. With master DangerSAM in tow we knew that we would have to be targeted at the caches we were going after and Gr33nslime was the one that inevitably came up with the answer. Tucked away in her geocaching tool box was her list of solved mystery caches. Turns out she had been really fastidious and solved a whole lot of the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. This seemed like a good plan so we started looking for groupings of the mysteries and planned from there. Gr33nslime soon discovered however that some of the caches had moved and worse the puzzles changed! After a few hours though she had managed to correct enough of them that we could make a plan to hit them today. We parked up on the side of the road, got the DangerPRAM out for DangerSAM and headed off a convenient pathway that was next to the road. It was blowing a bit but otherwise the sun was out and the tide was in so it was a really nice day. There was the odd couple out walking a dog, but mostly we were left alone to cache. We had at least one not find and one where we thought it would be to obvious to get the cache while someone was lounging on the deck of their house right next to it. Oh well maybe next time on that one. Again not a place I would have stopped and spent time exploring if it hadn’t been for a cache series to go investigate, so thanks for bringing us here.

08-Apr-18
# 1060 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!

With DangerSAM in the DangerPRAM and Jimmy NZ in tow, we went for a sunday afternoon meander along the Te Arapiko walkway. Have to say this stretch was far less busy than the stretch near the boat sheds and we were able to cache in relative piece (apart from a few look out spots where people were picnicking)

This was the last one of the day and we had a good haul of 5 from this series today! JimmyNZ did his shoulder in trying to make the grab here so had to sub me in as a replacement. bit of water inside, and we had already figured out that these containers are prone to leakage from having one of our own of the same. In saying that it is the biggest container we have encountered so far on this series! Signed the new log book. Interesting puzzle to solve too. Thanks. No sign of TB inside Sad

Planetary Challenge completed too! Great to have a series of puzzle cache nearby to help me with that challenge. 22/61 of the Kiwi GeoTrail! Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

20-Jan-18

A quick trip along Grays Road to tidy up some DNFs from long ago.

There was a small quantity of water in the container which I emptied out. The original log is waterproof paper, but the ink wasn't, so many of the signatures are blurred. I dried the log and signed it, and also signed a fresh log left more recently.

These circular Sistema containers are prone to leakage. They're much worse than the square ones. It might be worth considering a change.

The cache had crept a few feet so I replaced it in line with the hint.

I had a go at locating this cache soon after publication but gave up after a few minutes of unsuccessfully waiting for a decent break in the traffic. I didn't really expect things to be different this evening but they were and I was able to go about my mission with only a few car occupants probably wondering what I was up to.

A quick log to sort out the found its from the DNFS, more later when I get better Internet.
A trip overseas was on the cards with a long haul pencil aircraft trip of 16 minutes had me away from the Mainland for a week and a half on a course in Upper Hutt. Luckily I had a set of wheels at my disposal with big thanks to caching friend wb so I wasn't to be stranded at my digs and able to get out and make some local finds. With a whole weekend at my disposal, I decided on a two-prong attack; Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay trail on Saturday, with a couple of earthcaches thrown in and a planned trip around the headland at Porirua on the Sunday. I managed a repsectable half-century of finds on the Saturday, but the weather never played fair on Sunday so pland were amended. A great walk was had on the Saturday with fantastic views all around and a pleasant stroll which, with caching, took over 4 hours and followed up with a quick 8 minute train trip baqck to get the car. Good time caching in the area, thansk to all the COs for their placements, and therefore my enjoyment.

Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [WENZ Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/) and don't forget to log your attendance on the [WENZ Event Page](https://www.geocaching.com/…/GC78NMQ_wenz-event-2018-wellin…)

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

Remember this road when it was metal- now sitting on sitting on the side of it working out the hiding place of this cache. The things one does in a lifetime but like all problems---we solved it. TFTC

On a road trip with my mum (CNAH) last weekend with the primary goal of seeing where my grandmothers grave is at Makara Cemetery. My mum lived her childhood in Ohariu Valley so it made sense to explore this area en route. Had a fantastic time hearing snippets of her childhood as we travelled these local roads - it brought back many memories for mum. From there we shot up to Taita Cemetery to visit another gravestone and then back to our motel in Plimmerton. Could not resist stopping for more caches en route. This is home turf for us. I lived my childhood on the Paekakariki Hill Road and went to the Pauatahanui School (I was the only pupil in Form 2 and there were only about 60 kids in the whole school). Learnt to drive on Grays Road - no traffic on the road back then.
We took longer than necessary to find this and eventually got it. We found it in the SE corner and so replaced it where found. Probably a better, drier spot anyway. TFTC

Doing maintenance around the inlet. Swapped the log for something that will hopefully resist the ravages of the enrolment.

My daughter and I have started a mini streak of Kiwi Geotrail caches. This is the third day. The log is soaked and starting to fall apart. I managed "15/8/17 CR" without ripping the paper too badly.

Thank you

We decided to come Wellington way today as not too many caches to get our direction this is the 3rd for the day so many muggles but we went for the cache inbetween one muggle to the next. cars going past left right and centre maybe not a great day to cache along here but which day would be ? signed the log and placed it back where we found it as quickly as we could before the next muggle appeared. thank you for taking the time to design the kiwi trail and bringing us to all sorts of different areas to enjoy TFTPC.
