Was an interesting container. It wasn't in its spot (maybe due to winds) so adjusted that.

After a family get together, parkour son wanted to do some practice driving. Hmmm, how could we maximise this experience for all? Leading into our 900th cache today, it seemed like a good idea to get some of the more elevated of these elusive caches.....#899!
We made our way to GZ and quickly spotted the likely hidey place. A few seconds later we heard "Hey, look at this cool container!" This one is an absolute favourite because of the fabulous container, so we are happy to be the first log in this recently maintained cache. Indeed it was a perfect container, reflective of our youngest son's favourite activity. We will post a link of this activity later for your pleasure and help for this cache! Off now to attempt take on a mammoth tree for 900!

Find # 3141
Streak: 37 days

I have decided to continue my August streak until I have had enough. Today, I saw an opportunity in my lunch break to head out to this one. Last time I was here, the winds were quite fierce and I decided it was better to skip it. Today was nice and calm, not too many muggles about, so up I went. Cache log book needs some tlc as thrre is bits of paper from the log bookspread around container, book is having trouble staying together. Cap on bottom is missing too. Anyway, great cache, gotta love a tree climb!!

Thanks to Sharnedog123 for the cache.

Sitting in my car utterly spent after logging this cache! There are two things that truly scare me in this world...biting bugs & heights. This cache made me confront both. The bugs were in my head (nothing bite me) but the heights... OMG!! Two times during this climb I felt physically sick and wanted to give up yet the challenge of nailing this cache drove me on.

I am mentally spent right now but satisfied that I found this cache. Thanks for the hard work and care in placing the cache. Fantastic!

TFTC!

Out in the area putting out control plates for an orienteering event tonight, oh and grabbing the odd cache as well.
I'm a Life Saver as well. Found the right tree and could see the required location and so up I went, got to the top and the cupboard was bare, what the hell... Looked back down to Terra Firma and what do you know, there is Oscar flat on his back looking up at me. Back I go down to the ground, give him mouth to mouth and some CPR and he's back with us again. Signed the log, packed him up and back up I go. After tucking Oscar in snug and warm, I bid my farewell and off to awaiting adventures. Good luck Oscar.

Gosh, I enjoyed this cache! It's amazing what muggles do not notice. There was a football match going on at the oval, and the muggle males were completely engrossed in it. There was no chance that a single female was going to be noticed tip-toeing through the trees Razz

I had a wonderful time climbing this tree! It was a very windy day, so I had to wedge myself in very tightly while I signed the log (I was NOT going to climb down then back up again!). I was very pleased to make it back to earth without having to draw attention to myself by calling out for help and an ambulance...

I was in the area, having spent the first half of the day picking up puzzle caches with *Cache_or_Check*, who was visiting from Adelaide. Once he'd headed off to do his own thing, I decided to pick up some caches in the area. I live closer to the mountains than to the sea, so I was pleased to have an excuse to go bayside. This was the seventh of twelve traditional caches I picked up as I wended my way back home.

TFTC, Sharnedog123 Smile A favourite point from me!

The girls were happily cooking up a storm, and we'd had a big roast lunch, so I had the evening free for a bit of caching.

After another fruitless visit to one of my nemesis caches in the area (missing, this time; that's what I get for not reading the most recent logs), I decided I needed something completely different. And what could be more different to scrabbling on the ground than shinnying up a tree?

This particular tree has the benefit of being well lit even at night, which left my hands free to contend with the business of climbing. It was just challenging enough to get the adrenaline pumping, and I was just at the limit of my comfort zone when I was able to get a grip on the container. Oh, and such a container!

And of course, there was that mixture of relief and the glow of achievement when I was safely back on Terra Firma. The terrain rating is exactly right.

What a rush. Thanks, Sharnedog123.

Spotted from the ground and with no muggles in the area I climbed up and grabbed the fantastic container! The log was damp, and the logistics of signing it whilst up there were a bit tricky, but got there in the end.

This was heaps of fun. had to climb a few trees but loved the cache! was much higher than expected!

Find #36

A satisfying one to finally log today as it was actually the first cache we deliberately looked for / found back in May after Spannaworks got the app and we signed up. (We'd found but not logged a few others previously, using online maps and good old fashioned searching.)

However due to muggleball matches both that day and a second time when we tried again, the area around GZ always seemed far too busy to attempt a retrieve unnoticed.

This afternoon the coast was clear though, so having drawn the short straw I ascended skyward for the retrieve, with Spannaworks and geokids at ground level to provide a cover story if required.

We liked the hide camo, and we REALLY liked the container - nice! Not fancying doing the entire climb twice (hmm, when did tree climbing become slightly daunting?) I moved down just far enough to pass the container to ground level then sat on a limb whilst the log was signed and swaps made, before putting it safely back.

Geokids took cloth scout badge and fridge magnet, left some plastic critters as trade.

Thanks for the cache, Sharnedog123!

#323 a nice quick find after arriving in Melbourne from Townsville.

I found a cache earlier in townsville as I wanted to try to break my distance in one day record. After we arrived in Melbourne(nice and cool), my mum picked us up and we drove all the way to our uncle's house. Fortunately, I had seen that this cache was only a few hundred meters away, and got my Mum to take me there. As it was already around 11:30, it was muggle free and I had the tree cornered in a short time. I didn't know whether the thing up there was a cache or what it is pretending to be, but after seeing some foreign articles at GZ, knew that was the one. A nice container, and looks like you put quite a bit of work into the cache. Thanks Smile.

Thanks for the cache, TBs enjoyed their vist.

Thanks found #3 in the series. Beautiful park and area. Great hide.

Kids match on oval on Sunday morning so more muggles than you could point a stick at. Spotted cache but no was would have been able to retrieve without numerous people wondering what an old bloke was doing up a tree. Will have to return.

Found it

03-Apr-13
Well, after watching the children retrieve the first 2 in the series, Crouching Cranes and TEAM KSBTJ Mums shouted out "this one is ours", I headed up to make the retrieval and Crouching Cranes replaced it. Contents a bit wet. I must admit, I was expecting some more difficult climbing for a terrain 4, but we did have fun. Thanks for the series.

Well I can still climb a tree, much to the kids disappointment that the mums were going to retrieve this one. Quick find and an easy climb. TFTC.

Forgot to log this yesterday. Easy to spot, not so easy to sign. Pulled up in the car and found the tree fairly quickly, spotted the assumed cache, was then just faced with the task of retrieving. Took a lot of hoisting and re-maneuvering and got quite dirty and almost pulled a muscle but the cache was soon in hand. Lucky I had big pockets to take down to sign and carry back up. Great cache (love the challenge of tree climb caches), very creative and fitting container and housing though it is a bit weird to have such a fragile container, not tethered to the tree. Meant to do more in the series but it got dark so we should be back tomorrow.

A friend and I had just been enjoying day 3 out of 4 of a grand final for our Cricket club. The game was being played in Huntingdale, so whilst on our way home I made sure Mum took us to these three new tree caches Smile. I wasn't too sure what to expect from these caches but I did end up enjoying each and every one of them. Both Jack and I enjoyed the climbs, both of us completing the three climbs. This was the 1st of 3 finds today.

This one was a very nice hide indeed. I have been to this park before for another cache (or two) but it was nice to visit it again.

Thanks Sharnedog123 Big Grin

PS, sorry for such a late log (writing this on 28/8/13) but I guess its better late than never!

Spiffy- and my Geokid headed to this, the 3rd of the climbs for the day. Saw the cache and my Geokid climbed up. Clever hide. I signed the log and Spiffy- put it back. Another fun cache thanks to Sharnedog123

Just before lunch on a Saturday and no sport going on here either. Once again very easily spotted what looked like a potential cache from the ground and headed up.
This was a much nicer tree, no harsh scratching bark and no sap and a really cool cache to find on arrival at GZ. TFTC Sharnedog123, my favourite of your new 3 tree climb caches.

Well, another week and another legendary Demolition Crew run. I was able this time, to meet up early with some of the crew, north of Melbourne to collect a few caches before heading in and starting on the Melbourne leg of the finds. We collected a few of the recent puzzles which we had solved in the Melbourne area on the night as well. A FTF was part of the mix as well. We met a little later with Quasar3671.

The night was highlighted by many high terrain and high difficulty caches, which included 4 tree climb caches...! In total 48 caches visited, 4 DNF's and a personal tally of 41 finds. A great night with lots of laughs, stories and great company.

Had to wait for muggles to move off, but they did, and another climb was made and cache signed. TFTC, more tree climbing fun.

TDC met up on our Monday night cache run. This week we made our way from the city, where we picked up a couple of freshly solved puzzles, then we headed across to the north eastern outer suburbs. Bikes were a must tonight and we ended doing quite a number of kilometers on the bikes. Lucky for us the weather was fine, although it did get a bit cool at Mt Lofty.
A good mixed bag of caches tonight with a couple of DNF's, a good mix of finds with a number of high DxT combo's found as well. All in all another fun and successful night and thanks to the CO's for their efforts in placing the caches we found.

18-Mar-13
Found on another Monday night TDC run, we lurked around in the bushes for awhile waiting for the Muggles to clear off so we could make the retrieval, I wish that container had off been full of what it was intended for. Thanks Shamedog123 for the cache.

18-Mar-13
I've been to this park before for another GC hide, which is now archived. This one was easily spotted from the ground and waiting for muggles to pass (not a good look being in bushes with torches), we soon had it signed. Thanks.

Run Summary
----------------------
Now that all the hot weather is over, it was nice to have a cool night to cache in and around Melbourne with Blacklegend, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts. There have been a few caches close to Rebel Acts home that have been bugging him for a while, so I decided to base The Demolition Crew's run around these caches as well as pick up a few of our recently solved puzzle caches in inner Melbourne. I started my run north of Melbourne with Blacklegend, and when we noticed a FTF opportunity in Healesville that was still unfound a phone call was made and we were soon moving in that direction. We met up with Rebel Acts there as he had just finished work and we claimed the joint FTF. Soon after we then meeting up with Q3 after he had finished work and started the planned run

Over the course of the day/night run, 48 caches were visited with 4 DNF's and a DxT rating of 4.21 with quite a number of T5's being claimed. The number of unfound caches within 25 km's of home is now signficantly diminished, so another great night for me!

Thanks goes to all the CO's who have put the time into designing and placing their caches. I look forward to next Monday night / Tuesday morning when we will do it all again!

Found @ 23:10. I'd spoken with another cacher earlier in the day about tackling these unfound tree climbs and I was sure he said to meet at this one. When I arrived (a bit later than I'd planned) I figured I'd missed him, so up I went. Turns out this was not the meeting point and some other duo had beaten us to the punch by an hour or so.
I signed in second spot and continued on to the other one.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Sharnedog123.

Find 607 at 22:03. I was out on an evening caching run with Big Blank to clear out some of the caches that were still dotted around our map. In all we ended up with 7 finds for the night and this was our first find for the evening.

I had watched this new series of caches pop up over the last few days and I was wondering when they would be logged as found. We decided to try this one first because it was the latest to be published in the hope that we'd score a joint FTF. It looks like it paid off too! I've had a few difficult tree caches of late, but I was pleased to be able to scale this one with ease. I thought this was a clever way to hide the cache in the tree, and it's obviously comfortable because a possum was sitting right on it! Thankfully he moved out of the way as I got closer to TZ. Thanks for the cache, Sharnedog123!

Find Number 257

Another very hot night meant that chasing caches had far more attraction than chasing sleep. Paired up with PantherX and set out for this one first as it had appeared over the past few days and was still a chance for a FTF.

Quickly established where the cache was and PantherX did a really impressive impersonation of his namesake as he scaled the tree with dexterity. The similarity ended when he politely got the possum sitting on the cache to move on rather than making a meal of him. There was great excitement when I realised this was my debut FTF and to share it with PantherX made it all the sweeter as he has been with me since my very first find.

Thanks for the cache, Sharnedog123
