Day 8 of my road trip for WENZ Mega. Out with Downsouthinv and AnnieLin today.
The outer is empty.
Please cache fairy, can you confirm? Everything else matches and we don't think it is a decoy.
Will send through a pic so as not to give it away

Should have read the notes before coming as managed to get up the tree to an empty bucket.
GB Leader and I have spent today on a caching spree, starting in Featherston, then doing the triangle to Martinborough, Carterton and Greytown, and finally (as the wind starting really whipping up), back to Featherston. There were some really tricky and quirky caches around. Great fun! Final tally for the day: 23 finds (a new daily record for me), 3 DNF’s and one “not sure.”
This one is the "not sure". Too high to reach, or is it a decoy? Found a stick to help, but it didn't. So, as darkness was falling, we called it a day, unsure whether the cache fairy was laughing at us, or whether there was something we missed. Probably should record it as a DNF. But, I reckon we'll be back.

Mmm this was one of those!! I did not have the necessary to grab this one!A half day at the conference so i could nip away and travel down to greytown to locate a few more caches in this area/ a total of seven which i located 3 dnf or did not attempts once i saw what had to be done. and another half hearted attempt at one of the history multis which i did not complete. I did have added a few more caches to the souvenirs buit i am only aiming at 50 + knowing i will not get to 100.
Thank you for these caches behind greytown -to the CO who put them here.

Found it but couldn’t put back in container because it was in a tree so we threw it but it landed in the Holo part of the tree
Phew! This was a mission! At GZ I could see how the cache was put together. I attempted a shimmy, but didn't get far enough. My wife was sitting in the car, oblivious to my predicament. I managed to get back into a state of safety and considered other options. I had a bit of a fossick and found something that appeared to be ideal (presumably left by a previous finder). I managed the first part and then spotted the second part. Success! Signed the log and successfully reset the cache. Very enjoyable. TFTC+Fav
After a disastrous effort last time we returned, this tie with a proper GPS and lo and behold we were directed to the opposite side on the road from where we had searched last time. A bit of jiggery pokery and the inner cache was on the ground and a fair bit of water on my shirt. A quick bit of Steven Adams magic (well it worked on the 4th attempt) and everything was restored back to the way it was.
Another FP from us for this one.

Easily found not so easily reached. Fortunately we were on our bikes so could step up. TFTC.
Fear not gentle reader, whilst venturing forth into into the deepest, darkest Wairarapa today EthNZ and I chanced upon this hitherto unexplored location. After much discourse, a method of acquiring the prize was devised, and put into operation. However, imagine our horror, when the receptacle proved empty, "Alack, what shalt we do?" was our lament!- We devised another strategy so that others should not suffer our misfortune, when with a sideways glance, the original casket was spotted lurking in the grass almost at our feet! Oh such Merriment! so, without more Ado, I added my Autograph to the list in the visitors book, returned it to where it should be and went on our way... TFTC. No 5 in the race to 50 in a day.
Found the container, figured out how to get and replace... but no logbook inside :(
Found with TregearP. Took a bit of a search, and then some ingenuity to retrieve the log. Found two log sheets in separate bags but both sodden. Have photos of Mr Darcey's heart which I'll upload when back in Wellington. Will also post a maintenance request.
Thanks for bringing us to this very English looking spot, and the effort into positioning the cache.
The third cache of twelve visited by Susan's Birthday TB on my birthday.

Clever little hide, was returning cache to safe keeping although SJT_NZ suggested it was not the recommended method. A slight hiccup but got there in the end.
Log sheets sodden and not exactly sure if its mechanism is as you intended. I rethreaded the wire handle and have put back as I think was intended, but as it was basically hanging sideways off the broken handle may be not. Definitely needs a new log sheet, and you may want to review the mechanism. Also no lid, so the pail will fill when it rains.
Unless there's a red herring involved here, this is _not_ a T1.5. With my bad knee, I am avoiding any caches that involves climbing of any kind (which T2 and above usuallu indicates) and the previous logs indicate, that that is indeed what is needed here. Shame, It looks fun though, but.. if no red herring is involved, please rate it appropriately.
Out for a day around the Greytown area to catch up on quite a few caches that have sprung up in the last little while. Not too bad a day for it, and a good chance to get the mtb out on the river trail. Good to have fozzmiester along for the day too.
Bit of a stretch to get this one, but managed to retreive and replace.

I'd read the previous finder's log, so I knew I was in for something special. Finding the cache was easy enough, but getting to it, and returning it afterwards proved more of a challenge. Fortunately I found a suitable implement nearby, and the cache was soon in hand. The same implement assisted in returning things whence they had come. Another FP for Wascox! TFTC.
I was totally unprepared for this one and my initial reaction was that I would have to give it a miss as it was beyond my capabilities. However, I took a minute or two to survey the scene and devise a plan. With some difficulty, I managed to achieve success.
One of 14 in or near Greytown today, a very pleasant winter's day. Pleasant setting. Spotted without any trouble. Took slightly longer to get to it. Note that both logs are very wet! #1178. TFTC.
Geokid no.1 was up high when wascox came along on his bike warning us of muggles. A clever cache and a tricky retrieve. Nice to meet you and that is for the fantastic caches.
A great cache and thank goodness we had nimble kids with us. Great to meet the owner of these fantastic caches.
#143 lucky there was 3 of us ! We probably made this a lot harder than it needed to be but got a lot of laughs doing it our own way
On a special mission to Greytown today to check out a few of wascox's caches that seem to be gathering quite a few favorite points.
Basically had no idea what we were in for en route to this cache. Upon arrival at GZ the cache was soon spotted and retrieved without drama. Dropped off at TB and wish it well on its journey. SL TFTC

Well what a laugh we had at this one retrieving and returning!! Thanks for the fun
Wow what an experience! We were all busy doing the necessary to sign the log and a fire engine comes down the street with flashing lights. Needed to let go and move the car quickly! While this was happening one of us tried to replace cache only to get smashed in the head with the cache. Replacement take one. So much fun so a fav point from us
Ha, I can tell full of pride that this was one of my easiest tree caches ever Even though KiwiExplorer was still surprised to see a cache there and see me get there so fast +1 for this for sure [^]

Out on a short weekend road trip with CacheMike. I've never read the book or seen the TV version but I'm sure that the leafy setting would be perfect. Thankfully CacheMike volunteered to retrieve this one for us.
Thanks wascox for the cache.

this one gets a fav for making me climb up a tree not once but twice! got up there with Dobby watching from the car wondering what I was doing as I opened the container with the log in it, it popped out and dropped to the ground Dammit!! down I went and picked it up signed it was wet so I put it into a zip lock bag. back up I went and popped him back into his egg.
Kjwx and I were hoping for a shirtless Colin Firth (circa 1997) to spring from the bushes, but we were disappointed to find only another excellent (and challenging) wascox hide. It took a few minutes for the penny to drop that one of us was going to have to climb. In our geo-partnership, Kjwx does spiders and water, I do trees and cliffs. So up I went! I had a great time up there - but, alas, still no Colin Firth. TFTC
Another brilliant hide on today's Wairarapa road trip ... Thankfully my companions JardisLikeTardis and geo-dog Coca both love this type of environment so my geo-partner in crime did the honours here. I suspect this was her favourite Wascox find, though it scared me just watching. TFTC
Started out about 10 am this morning on the bikes with a heap of cached saved from when we were down here last, thanks to all the cos and Wilcox for the time and effort put into some of the ones we came across, after roughly 20km we managed 19. Lovely day and now sitting back enjoying a well earned beer. Tftc I have added paracord key chains to the ones I could.
Nice and easy find, a bit more of a challenge to get my hands on the cache though
Had fun retrieving this one TFTC

Found on a most enjoyable cycle ride around some delightful parts of the Wairarapa. A rather tricky hide, it pays to be tall. TFTC
What a lot of fun was had with this one. Lucky for us Troy was here and soon had cache in hand, signed and back in right spot.
Another great cache

#68 Another wascox original and another challenge to my height. As we were on a caching challenge we arrived totally unprepared. I could see I could improvise some tools from what was at had but would I be able to appease the cache fairy? I did have visions of the cache self destructing and shooting over the tree tops but with the wife's help I was able to complete the mission with no damage to man or cache. FP.
This is a goodie. Paua handed the tools while I managed the retrieve. Plenty of tools laying around take your pick. TFTC.
After a day of motorsport in a nearby paddock, I decided to pop over to Greytown to retry a few caches I missed last time. I have a certain genetic advantage (see user name) which was a definite advantage for this cache. Made for a straight forward, but enjoyable, retrieve and replace. Great cache. TFTC.
Found with tmann421 and Just-Lookin on a sunny day of caching in the Wairarapa. TFTC
Spent the weekend in the Wairararapa collecting caches and finishing on the Sunday with a hike up to Blue Range Hutt from Kiriwhakapapa. Great weather and a great weekend where I teamed up with tmann421 and Princess-Emily. Lots of fun and enjoyed the variety of caches in the area.
This one definitely required two people, but we were minus tmann on this one and Princess-Emily wasn't having a bar of it. So with agile moves I shimmied, retrieved, logged and returned the cache to its hiding spot.
Another fun cache.

Teamwork was required to get it all back in place. Another really cool cache!!!!! TFTC
Certainly needed a couple of hands and a few to spare, Loved it TY found with Pooke
This cache has 3 parts, locating the cache, retrieving the cache and replacing the cache. I could only think of one way to replace it, managed after a few attempts. Great find in a delightful area. TFTC.
#843 This was the best today ... had lots of fun with it. Glad I met the cache owner last week - the few I had time for then spurred me to come back - Happy we did. My two girls and I loved it. Many thanks... helped break my daily record.
Mr Darcey's heart was found all cold, wet, lost and forlorn in the nearby wet grass. With a litte warmth, tenderness and of course some CPR he is returned to his home and is all set to go. wascox
Took the day off work to go exploring the geocaches in Greytown. Unfortunately the weather didn't play ball and the drizzle and rain made for some less than ideal geocaching. Nevermind, still had a good time and really enjoyed some very well thought out geocaches.
Finally, a cache that I am uniquely qualified for (see username)! Unfortunately, although I was able to easily get the container, it was empty. Well, not completely empty - it did have some water in it that I managed to pour all over myself. TFTC.

#1282 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours. This one proved a fun challenge for us. The cache wasn't located where it should have been- it was only near it so retrieving wasn't too much of an issue- just needed a little nudge in the right direction. Signed the log (cute idea) and then we set about replacing it. This got us laughing! Only took three attempts though and we had it safely where it should've been. Great teamwork! TFTC! Another clever hide that certainly made us laugh.
Found while on a 24 hour caching adventure with Skaga through parts of the Waiarapa.
I really loved this one - in fact I really enjoyed all your hides, they were a true highlight of our entire trip!
The cache was not where it should be but was nestled nearby so retrieving it was, thankfully, not an issue. Returning it took some thinking, lots of discussion and proof that we work well as a team. TFTC and yet more laughs. This really got the brain going!

I'm please I am not vertically challenged so retrieving was no problem. A well thought out cache. TFTC
Note: The log is quite damp.

Found on a >41 hour non-stop geo roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland via Cape Palliser and a whole bunch of skinny winding Wairarapa roads, in the esteemed company of slieschke, mike-miss and cretti. We picked up our rental car, dubbed the Idiot Box, and assumed our new identity as Team CRT, shortly after 8am at Wellington Airport and headed north.
We first headed to Porirua Harbour to take on the resident Kiwi geo art trail before heading over to the southern Wairarapa and Cape Palliser where we visited the light house at about midnight and tried our best to avoid seals while searching for a few caches along the southern most shore line of the North Island.
We headed up past Greytown and Carterton, focussing on caching areas west of SH2 this trip. There were some highlight caches, particularly around Carterton (I think) and some way up in the hills looking over the whole area from Masterton to Martinborough.
It was daylight again by the time we hit Masterton and we decided to hit fast forward and skip a planned area (will just have to come back again!) and shot through to Palmerston North where we got back into the swing of things.
We took the back-road up to Mangaweka, discovering some really fanstastic little places along the way, like a picnic area and waterfall way down in a canyon, and then we continued via Taihape, across and up through Owhango, to get some really old caches, and then north through Te Awamutu and back to Auckland to drop off the Idiot Box at the airport.
And of course, despite it then being after 1am on Monday morning, and raining kinda heavily, slieschke and I couldn't resist driving over to the North Shore for an FTF on a cache published earlier in the evening.
Thanks to all the cache owners along the way, even if we couldn't find your cache - all part of the adventure! Sorry for the copy/paste log, but just too many caches to remember *all* of them individually.
Enjoyed this one, so giving it a fave point. We were stumped for a minute until I got out of the car and said wouldn't it be that and pointed to it. Ah ok, yep. TFTC!!!

Found in the company of Cretti, funkymunkyzone and mike-miss on a crazy Wellington to Auckland road trip in the idiot box. We traveled via the Kiwi GeoTrail in Porirua, the Wairarapa including Cape Palliser, the Manawatu, and back to Auckland via the western side of the Central Plateau. Signed as Team CRT. Despite very little sleep the weekend was a blast!
Loved this one, it was a truly a team effort to retrieve!
Thanks!

A plan was hatched for yet another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend from Wellington to Auckland. This time, Cretti and slieschke joined in on what turned out to be another epic road trip with myself and funkymunkyzone (our third trip this year).
We all met up at Wellington Saturday morning as i ended up being on an earlier flight to the rest of the crew. Jumped in our rental which happened to be a Ssangyong SUV this time round and headed straight to Porirua Harbour to hit the Kiwi GeoTrail. From there on, we zig zagged our way through Wiararapa to Cape Palliser, back up through Martinborough, Masterton, Ekatahuna, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Taihape, Te Awamutu and back home to Auckland in the early hours of Monday morning.
To save time and log space, we signed the logs as "Team CRT" travelling in the idiot box for the weekend. Lots of laughs were had over our 1500km+ / 41 hour road trip which consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure.
Another awesome cache thanks wascox! A favourite point added, TFTC!

Cool day out with Dad and my mate LPRP1608. This one was really cool - we had to let wbond1116 do the hard work on this one, but it gets a favourite point from me
I took two likely lads out today for another day in the Wairarapa. Today was a little shorter than other recent days, however enjoyable nevertheless.
Another wascox special, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed as I expected to find a creative cache that surely earns a favourite.
The boys had me do the hard work on this one.

Fortunately the rain had retreated the Rimutakas. I gave Darcy a strong prod and his heart fell into my hands. Had to create a tool from natural material to put Darcy together again. Very much enjoyed the challenge. A favourite from me.
Managed to wangle most of a weekend in the Wairarapa. Knew it was coming up for a while so had put in a bit of an effort solving some puzzles. Had a great couple of days and wound up with about 300 finds. Hardly scratched the surface really - I'll be back!
Found this one some months ago while solo caching but took metal-art along today for the retrieve.
Another day caching in Wairarapa after last evening's Carrington Park Finnish Event. Thanks for the cache.
last day of christmas break so decided to head over the hill and have a big geocaching day in the Wairarapa ahead of the Finnish Carrington Park event. Great day of caching around the back roads, and seeing parts of this area we've never been to before.
