Did this walk 20+yrs ago so it was nice to return to redo it. I had remembered all the steps...... Got to the top & there was nobody else there so made a nice quick find. [TFTC]
First cache Ive had to dig through snow for, Beautiful place for an engagement, I might steal a similar idea
Found it! What an incredible place to get engaged, my wife was thoroughly disappointed that our location wasn't this spectacular. TFTC
Found on a lovely sunny day with amazing views. Congrats TwoSharpe, you are still going strong 10 years later.
A great slow hike up, and even though the tops were shrouded in cloud, the views were still great! TFTC!!
Phew a hard climb up all those steps. Just a couple of noisy ducks and a nice breeze to cool me down as I enjoy the view.

Wow! I came to this one on a wee weekend trip with the missus, along with my sister and brother-in-law, who are visiting from abroad. Hooker Valley walk on Saturday, then this nice one before heading back to Chch. Not many people around here, and the weather was a stunner! Nice views all the way up and down. I found the cache a little exposed, after spotting a likely UPS (Unnatural Pile of Stones) that matched the hint, so I re-hid it there.
Nice to know the CO from home, and to be able to see where his magical married life began.

Fortunately we found this one very quickly. It was a long climb, but now we've earned a smiley. Thanks!
We finally reach the tarn. There was up 50 cm in some places. And the cache was definitely buried in snow. We decided we'll look for it in summer. It is worth the climb.
Road trip from Rotorua North Island. Another South island cache found.
Came back to Mt Cook to do the Red Tarns. Great walk fantastic view. Thanks for bringing us here.

A tricky walk up but worth it for the views. The track around the tarn itself was very peaceful. TFTC
A beautiful day to be in the mountains and a magic spot. Couldn't open log book to sign as it is frozen shut. Attaching photo as proof

We sat in the sunshine and appreciated the view whilst the wind tried to return our hats to the valley. The red tarns are worth the trip, and the view is astounding. TFTC!
After the Hooker Valley Track this morning, we made plans for the coming week (Dunedin and Stewart Island) during lunch. After lunch we went to the visitor centre and dus the two hikes in Governers Bush and to the Red Tarns. Of course we picked the geocaches around. What a view! We took the travel bug with us and we will hopefully find a nice place for it on Stewart Island.
TFTC...
Amazing views, great cache. As others, log book wet, but we managed to write in it. KrickyNinol dropped our trackable from Perth, WA.

I didn't have the best view because of weather, but at least I had the trail all to myself! Decent short trail
The CO’s are right about this track, the views are amazing and get better as you ascend. The Red Tarns were not even a little bit red today, but lovely anyway. Great spot for a proposal. Let’s see if you can still make it up here for your anniversaries as the years go by! The ring is missing, btw, but there is a cute painted rock in both these caches. Thanks for placing this cache.

We have been in National Park Aoraki Mount Cook already for a few days. This is one of two best places we have been so far in NZ. The views on the glaciers and Mount Cook are awesome. We decided to do the ascent of Red Tarns on our last day and then move on. It was a climb of staircases, one after the other. And the view got better all the time. After a while we saw the whole village of Mount Cook. Mount Cook itself was not always that good visible, but good enough. Clouds got worse though. Almost at the top we had our lunch on the bench with the view and the info on Red Tarns. While we were enjoying it all, we got company: two kea’s came flying in! This was so nice. One sat on the infoplate in front of us and began to make sounds that made our heart all mellow.
But we had to move on, we did not see the red tarns yet and the cache had to be found. But that was very nearby now and the environment there is really beautiful and peaceful.

This was our second day at Mount Cook and today we decided to do this harder walk. We shouldn’t complain but it was incredibly hot as we slowly made our way to the top. We had come prepared with plenty of water, sun cream and insect repellent.
Absolutely loved the views and took several photos of the red tarns.
Awarding a favourite for the wonderful story of the CO’s engagement and fabulous location. All is well with the cache.
On our way down we stopped to have a chat with a local who told us all about her UK trip last year. You New Zealanders are all so friendly!

Our 8th day in New Zealand we spend in Mount Cook Village, where we wanted to hike up on a mountain and find some geocaches. Thank god, the weather was nice, a little windy but the sun was out and every now and then we could even get a glimpse of Aoraki. Mostly he had his famous cloud but anyway the sight and his glaciers around were highly impressive.
After Governors Rest we attacked this mountain with it's cache. Puh, first all down again only to climb up again on the other side of the river. The way up was really hard. It's very nicely done with all the steps, however for spa's short legs the steps were sometimes very high. Anyway, eventually we made it and the view from the top was just awesome! The box was then quickly found. We leave a fav point here for the story, the location and also the climb! TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

Blimp and Saz on a sneaky road trip from Oz. Saz was looking pretty tired. Cache is right there
Couldn't find this as there was just too much snow on the ground. A fantastic walk to do in the winter, the snow & the views definitely made up for not finding the cache .
Brilliant place for a proposal.

This was our second walk for today, having just completed the Tasman walk.
At this stage we were unsure if we were going to stick with our plans to stay the night at the camp ground as the weather was pretty rough, so wanted to get one more walk in before dark. We did end up staying, but got no sleep. It was so windy and cold- sooooo cold. One tent blew down before we even got in the sleeping bags but the other survived the night!
This was quite a testing walk with 2 dodgy achilles, but I got there in the end. And it was well worth it for such a beautiful spot. A perfect place for a proposal!
Once the photographer muggle moved on,it was a quick find.
I think I put one of our pet rocks in it, but can't remember which one.
Thanks for setting this up Twosharpe

I had a nice climb up here despite the wet weather and cloudy views. The plants in the Tarns were very interesting. Thanks for bringing me to a great spot to find your cache.
Found during our holiday to New Zealand together with GeoFinn. Touring in a campervan through this amazing country; second time here, now with our son. 5 weeks was over in a blink; already plans for a third time.
Travelling, geocaching, hiking, kayakking, swimming, mountains, lakes, geyers, beaches; it was amazing. CO's thanks for your cache, it made our trips even more fun.

WOW, wow and double wow! What an absolutely magic spot today. A brilliant reward after all those steps. A very inspired spot for the proposal TwoSharpe - you must've been pretty sure of her answer after all that effort. There has ben views to die for everywhere but this has to be the best. Worth several favourite points but unfortunately I can only gift you one. Thank you so much for bringing me up here you Two! TFTC # 11,565
Overnight stay at the YHA so I can clean up the old and new caches in the area. After a late finish at work today wasn't sure I would be able to get to this one before dark but made good time and left the hostel just after 3 . 30 with plenty of daylight left . Wasn't expecting the track to be so busy but I guess it is a long weekend. Didn't bother counting the steps there's just a lot.
Surprisingly I had gz to my self as all the muggles had stopped at the first seat for the view (don't think they realised that the view is even better from here .
Quick find that deserves a fav tftc

After a big cold jog this morning the steep climb to this cache actually caused more sweat. Made it to the top without to much trouble though and found the cache without issue. Enjoyed some time here before heading back to the car. It's a shame the clouds are around today as I'm sure the view from up here would be amazing!
This place was suggested to us as we are in NZ on our honeymoon for a couple of weeks. Great spot!

Thought about having a wander up but just wish I had some a bit of research first. After been up to the muller hut my legs were not happy about it.. Sebastopol looks inviting for the next time I go up. Cheers
We stayed a few nights at the white horse campground in mount cook national park. The weather was not super good, but it cleared up nearly every day and we could see mount cook a few times. We had a great time great time there, it was one of our favorite national park in nz so far.
At the first day it was very couldy, so we decided to go for a short walk right after noon. We did the governors bush and the red tarn loop. Found some nice caches on the way. Nice view from up here!
Thank you very much for this nice cache!

After doing Governors bush walk I decided to head up to the Red Tarns whilst the clouds were still low and the temps were cooler. Timing could not have been better because as soon as I got to that top step the clouds had cleared and I has an amazing view to Mt Cook.
Thank you for the amazing personal story and putting a cache up here - which made me come to this spot. Cache bit damp, emptied some water... no sign of any ring I'm afraid to say.

We enjoyed the walk up in the sleet/snow, but didn't linger too long up there. Quick find, then nip down for lunch. The cache nicely encouraged us to carry on to the end of the track. TFTC
OMG! What a cute cache! Great find on the way down from climbing Mt Sebastopol. Magic spot, as always TFTC

As we had come so far I left the Crow sitting on a step, promising to be quick, and went in search of the cache. The GPSr died on us on the way up but the Crow had seen the hint and relayed this to me. Little did I know that there were three hint items on the top and I got badly prickled frisking the wrong ones! When I found the true GZ I was in heaven. It is utterly beautiful here. The Crow thinks I am teasing him up when I say it is my favourite place at Mt Cook village - but it really is the best. There were Paradise shelducks on the pond and I sat on the bench looking out to the mountain peaks. So peaceful. The only possible response to a marriage proposal up here would be "Yes". Eventually guilt got the better of me and I had to speed my way back to the Crow.
As for the cache. It was safe and well, just where the hint said it would be! Ring was also present (see photo). Cache signed on behalf of the Crow and I."
I am disgraced, but vertigo is a horrible thing. I was loving the stiff climb - exercise to the max. While there are barriers to the fresh air drops - trees, bushes, walls etc - I don't have a problem. The higher we got the more sparse the barriers became. We must have been 9/10ths up the climb when we rounded a corner and there was no barrier. I froze, and that was the end for me. I had to let Kitty carry on, I'd already comprised a few other climbs this holiday, I couldn't muck this one up. For the next 200 or so steps I had to slide down on my bottom before I could get vertical again and walk down - slowly.
I was so envious of Kitty's achievement. We've argued at length about my refusal to log this cache as I didn't see it. But to avoid being dumped, under duress, I am clicking the Found It button. Feel very guilty and wimpish though, particularly as this was the last cache in (now) my most favourite area of the world.

[blue][size=1]On a holiday of a lifetime with Mr Crow (San Francisco, New Zealand and Sydney). Day 4 of a 4 night stay in Mount Cook. The weather was at its best today so we re-walked the Hooker Lake path (it had been raining and cloudy when we visited before) followed by the fantastic Red Tarns trail. As it was our last night here we dined out at the Old Mountaineers' Restaurant.

I was down in Mt Cook for the day to do a few hikes in the area. The day began wet, which soon turned to snow which fell until midday and the day slowly cleared after that. By the end of the day the skies had cleared and I decided that I would take the hike up to this cache, so I could clear all caches from around Mt Cook. After a decent climb up to the top of the hill, the cache was soon found at GZ - the ring is still in it too. I then went back to the lookout to take in the amazing views of the area. Thanks for the cache - favourite point added!

What a wonderful place to propose, and well worth the steps (we counted active 1275 to the sign and 17 more to the bench).
We combined this walk with Governors Bush this morning under degrading weather conditions. No views comparable to those great ones of yesterday, but still worth every step.
Congratulations to the one who proposed for being so brave, and to both of you for the decision to share your lifes and share your story with other geocachers.

Mini and Mega's mountain adventures bought us to this beautiful spot. Thankyou for sharing your loving place.
TFTC we have lived here 5 years and swore never to climb those steps again, thanks for the incentive!
Wow we made it. I'm guessing the last 150m is where you got your breath back to enable the proposal. Congratulations on an awesome spot to pop the question. Now to get back down with knees in one piece. TFTC.
Awesome climb under the gaze of Aoraki. Awesome kids kept on going up. Thanks to DillyDragon for finding the cache in the snow! TFTC
Oh those relentlessly upward steps. Surely by the time we reached the top we would be higher than Mt Cook, but no, it maintained its ascendancy. The cache was quickly found and we replaced the sodden log with a dry one in 2 bags. A delightful basis for a cache, and the ring is ok, although its container is also sodden. TFTC
Hey thanks to the last bit of maintenance/ bagging by WEKA ... and we will get down with a new ring holder on our next passing of the area, soon! But on the basis of the below we will log this wee bit of maintenance with thanks!
By distance this cache is not far, but there was a lot of steps, pity about low cloud, not much of a view.
Cache was soaking wet, drained and wrung out sponge, but think beyond salvage, needs new log etc.
