An unexpected day off work calls for a bit of a hike! My mission this year is to knock of as many caches I can on the walkways around home. Most of which are not just a leisurely stroll!!! A nice quick find here TFTC
It probably wasn't the best decision coming up here today when I had a time limit but I found a couple of caches and had a good workout as well. I will be back for the others another trip. I was surprised at the number of walkers and runners going up and down this track this morning. TFTC # 13,571
Never been up here before and what a great hike. Kiss and dogs loved it. I liked standing still and listening to the birdsong. Tftc
Easy find. Ducked low when muggles ran past. On our way up to the summit. Found with jecissa01
On a walk down from Mount Cargill it was good to have a stop to get this cache. Found with 1sophie1.
While Jo was at a graduation reunion Joe and the dog took the chance to have a walk over Mt Cargill and down the Leith Valley.

I've walked past this several times without looking in but keeping it as an excuse to go for a walk. A pleasant late winter day provided just the excuse for a walk with this as a bonus.
For the longest time, Mr. Rex was scratching his head at the hint item, til Mrs Rex (as ever!), pointed him in the right direction!! TFTC, debs
Discovered this one as a group with eilisrose, Hevic, MrPig, Cj-Curry, and cjsheridan. Decided to tramp up Mt. Cargill which I found was a bad idea.
At this stage of the tramp I was basically passed out, so some solid work by my companions found it before I crawled my way up to it.

thanks for the cache!
thanks for the cache!
When eilisrose suggested a trek up Mt. Cargill before leaving Dunedin, I jumped on the opportunity and planned a day out. So the two of us, plus Hevic, MrPig, safetykat, and cjsheridan went on a hike around from Sawyers Bay to Bethunes Gully taking in as many of the sights as we could before the rain decided to spoil our afternoon.
Of course the rain decided to hit us just before this cache. Nevertheless, we relished the challenge. Finding the hint object was tricky enough, but once we had that MrPig made a beeline for the right spot. We signed and sealed as quickly as we could so that we could continue our epic quest. Cheers!

Easy find, made a little more difficult by the selfish and unsanitary actions of a previous walker, who left an unsightly and unsavoury 'calling card'. Apart from that, all was good, cache was dry, so signed the log and headed on down the hill to the next one.

Good track, and getting to the end of a very long wet day was good to find this one. Will count this for our first ramble towards Ramblers Reward.
Found this one with two friends after a long day Geocaching that took us through North East Valley, up Mount Cargill and down again via Mount Cargill Road and the Leith Valley. We found 16 caches on our 7 hour walk with no DNFs (although we were about to give up on a few). TFTC!!
There seems to have been an upgrade of this track and it's now 'follow the black pointer'. Blowing a gale today but pleasant in the bush. Cache and log all in good nick.
An afternoon walk went further than expected and yielded a surprise cache. Navigating only with a phone so the clue certainly helped in narrowing down the spot. TFTC.
Was up at Mt Cargill so a short stroll down was a nice way to celebrate a warm afternoon. Couldn't resist swapping for the Captain Underpants bookmark!
Looks like the Orgeon 450 has died - definitely not a successful purchase, software full of bugs, don't buy one yourself.

Loved the "points the way" hint. I think this was the only one I found before PC Sniff. I'd looked at the spot and hypothesized about where the cache would be on the way up the hill to Lollipopcat's CITO, but we were running late so didn't have time to look. Found quickly on the way back. Thanks for placing these caches along the track. Certainly adds another dimension to the walk.
I let jrb5050 find this one because it looked as if I might get my hands dirty TFTC
Got nice and muddy negotiating the path. The colour of the plastic drain crossing the path in the hint is now black. TFTC
A great day for a run up the mount today! Stopped to grab this one. Thanks!
Editing date for today not yesterday!

Track a bit muddy and slippery in places which is probably why we didn't see anyone else on the track. Took TB.
Cooling down a wee bit by the time I got to this one, but quick find with the clue. Upon reemerging from the bush I bumped into a club member so we had a good chat about tramping on the way down TFTC!!
Found at 10:47:00 a.m. on 1/05/2013.
It didn't take the kids long to track this one down.

Out for a drive and found ourselves at the transmitter on Mt Cargill. Decided to have a wander down and knock off the two caches on the track that we still need to do (did the lowest one a couple of weeks ago). Unfortunately, while I carry my boots in the car, Mrs UNCLE was ill-dressed for such an expedition so when we found the track in pretty poor condition she turned back while I raced down to this cache and caught back up to her. So still the middle one to go. We seem to be making these three caches harder than they need to be! TFTC.
Just a few wet steps from the walkway, and the cache was easily found. Added a TB to this cache but mistakenly logged it into one further down the hill. Will fix if I can find my written record for the TB. "Travel Bug Dog Tag" Otherwise finder will have to grab it from somewhere else.
Thanks for the cache, Debs.

I found this one without the paper as well (I almost always need the hints). Only took a bit of a look around, and a few possibles eliminated. I left a CD because I could. Thanks, R.
Started from the bottom again at about 9.00AM and made for the top.
A bit cool in the bush but soon warmed up as it got steeper. Lots of birdsong and by about halfway to cache it was getting warm enough for the fleece to come off.
Got to the GZ and made a quick find by the old giant, that'll cause a crash when it comes down!
Left an emergency space blanket, pen, golf ball and magnetic bookmark. TN
