In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

Out on our day together with my daughter (kaddy124) and Grandson in Wonthaggi thought we would lay assault on the local trails. Tyftc.
Found with WeRAmused. On the bikes today investigating area, very enjoyable. TFTC
Finally an easy find at a good birdwatching spot. Bird of the cache- Cattle Egret. Wish I'd brought my binoculars for this walk. Muggle with dog to friendly and wanted to chat even after she'd left me.
We were walking at about 100km/hr trying to finish off these last few caches as the sun seemed to dip lower and lower by the millisecond.
We scratched around for this cache and it was found fairly quickly. Since nothing eventful happened at this cache I will tell you a funny story from our drive between the B&B and the start of the trail....
I was navigator and Hera was the driver. I was telling her to which way to turn into Reed Crescent when she said "ok so when you say to turn LEFT, which way do actually mean?" To which I replied "I actually mean RIGHT". Maybe you just had to be there but it was pretty funny at the time.

Found in the nick of time - we were on the clock trying to get to Cutler's beach before sunset.
Suscoe decided to spend a second day visiting the caches of the Inverloch area.
It was significantly different temperature wise today, about 20 degrees cooler in fact.
Clouds accompanied the day, but it kept dry until quite late in the afternoon.
We continued to enjoy finding these caches, a delightful range of hides, containers and locations.
We decided to make a late afternoon trip to Wonthaggi for a short ride.
Well the end was not really near for Mr. S as he had to ride back to the car.
Another quick find, that you for that.
You certainly have dome another delightful trail along here.

Hi there Gonefishen07.
We found your cache "Rail Trail-The end is near!"at 1:06:00 PM today, & this now makes our find count 12665.
Today we chauffeured Gonefishen07 around the countryside as she wanted to do a maintenance run on some of her caches. She's a hard task mistress - we had to find each one without any help whatsoever.
We covered a lot of ground today and found a variety of cache hides, visited an "off grid" totally solar powered house, and even found a cache we DNF'd the other day. When we finished our run we found that we had logged 19 and DNF'd 0 caches.
Coordinate Accuracy: We found this cache around 2m from where our GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Just booked out hotel and grabbing a couple of extra before bedding down. Today has been a huge day and were feeling a bit sunburned, however it has been an enjoyable day. the cache variety, the types of hide and thinking of the maintenance on all must be huge task. we highly recommend this series. Not too difficult to ride fighter. Thank you for placing these for all to enjoy.
Filling in some gaps from previous visits, so thought I had better knock this one over after a walk along the track. Quickly found. TFTC TNLN
Visiting from port Macquarie NSW
a quick find before I had to leave for the flight home, great hide. TFTC

A trip down memory lane here for me, as this old railway line was included in my stomping ground growing up as a kid not all that far from here. As we walked along here today, a few different visual things were there that I remembered from my childhood, a dam here or a sandy rise there. All memories now, locked away where no one ever knows or cares about.
The End is Near, except we were going the other way, but bought a smile as were changed the cache name in the Garmin. This was an easy find after the ones we'd found so far today and we were soon moving on.
Thanks for the cache and placement Gonefishen07.

Sorry for the late log. We had a lovely couple of days away as a family, the last for a little while as the house build finally commences. Out on the bikes for this one. Lots of fun. LuvanAva. TFTC
After finishing work in Wonthaggi, I grabbed a few caches along the Rail Trail, nice walk on a cold winters day. sl Thanks Gonefishen07 for another cache along this great trail.
TFTC. Our stay I this area is rapidly coming to an end. The day is cool and dry ,time to do this section of the rail trial. The variety of hides makes this hobby all the more worthwhile.
Clever hide and camouflage. This one was quickly to hand.

On a weekend visit from Geelong, I thought I would grab a few rail trail caches while out and about enjoying the sights. Some were easy, others took longer to find. The variety of cache containers and the different types of hides was mind boggling. It is always a pleasure to cache with accurate co-ords and all of the hides were spot on. I couldn't believe just how hides many there are on the trail. It will take a few more visits to knock these off !! I can't wait to return. TFTC Gonefishen07.
nice little walk to take the toddler on. And walk he insisted on doing. Was rather pleased with his discovery of this one - and happy to put it back in its place which was a plus. TFTC.
This cache was quickly spotted from afar but the best part about it was its kid-friendliness - that the geotoddler was told where to look and he came up with the container himself is fantastic. We've got a future cacher on our hands! Hooray!! He was quite proud of his find, enjoyed putting the top inside the bottom while we signed the log, and replaced it to the best of his abilities (we added the finesse when he wasn't looking). TFTC Gonefishen07.
Had some special moments with some cows on the way good find.

We were getting a little nervous as a muggle coming from the other direction just told us he spotted a brown snake crossing the path! Nice container once again. TFTC
Met up with Team Crackers for 2 days, to tackle the Rail Trail and a few local caches.
Day 2 and back on the bikes again. The weather was windy but sunny - very different to yesterday.
We found a good variety of hides, with the odd one being a little tricky.
This is a fantastic trail, and we award each one a favourite point.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Gonefishen07, for us and others to find.

Found by Mary & David at 0955. On our way to the Event, and the two caches left for us on this section of rail trail beckoned. The camo on this one was a bit light, so spotted it easily. The container was open, too, but the log was fine in its bag. Replaced it all with better camo. Our thanks to Gonefishen07.
We found this cache today at 3:35pm as number 14 of 24 on Our Wonthaggi New Year Event Day Tour. We finally mustered up the energy to get out for a few caches and took our second geocaching walk along this trail. Thanks from D & HA B-A.
Not near the end for us, we have tackled both ends and have the centre to go...didnt know these things were this juicy, but the log is dry and looking fresh
Found! The end was still a way off for me A quick find.
The day started for me at 7:25am & I finished at 5:29pm in Wonthaggi. I had the most enjoyable time seeing plenty along the way & enjoyed the variety of cache hides & containers. A brilliant effort and I thank the CO for the most enjoyable day out!

Was not really up for a day of caching with a cold, but after a phone call with BorisB&Natasha, the thought that the fresh air might do me some good and finding some more of Gonefishen07's high caliber caches I was easily persuaded.
Yum, one of my favourites. replaced wet log.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.

An impromptu caching day saw Nut bear and I returning to the very familiar and always entertaining Gonefishen07 territory.
This was a nice quick find. I have replaced the wet log with the CO's permission. Unfortunately I didn't have a book with me so it is only a log sheet in a new zip lock bag.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.

Found quickly, but log is a little soggy. TFTC What a bad weekend!! Decide to head to wonthaggi to complete the rail trail. We were coming from Geelong and what happens? Our car breaks down!!! Anyway so we are stuck in Cape Paterson with one less car and thought it's ok it's still worthwhile if we find one cache tonight. That didn't happen so today we are attacking the rail trail while we wait for geohubby to come pick us up!
Well don't to my geoteen son finding this one. Putting it back- he said hey look geo sister- a lizard! A quick science lesson was given to son pointing out that lizards without legs are actually SNAKES!! He had found a baby brown snake curled up under the cache. Went to take a pic to post but it had slithered further in... So we left it alone and are now looking out for mumma brown! TFTC!
Arrived in Wonthaggi after lunch today. We set up in the caravan park & then headed out to do part of the RT that was close by.
Another cache found.
Thanks Gonefishen07

We headed out from Wongathi to do more of the rail trail making sure we were heading in the right direction so that the strong wind was pushing us along rather than us having to ride into it. Lots of creative and interesting hides and a really pleasant trail. This was one of the caches we targetted and were able to find. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for the enormous effort that has been put in to enhance of enjoyment of this caching experience.
Out on the bike again with Bruce finding a few more caches along the rail trail. Started at the coal mine hoping to catch a tail wind back to Powlett River. Today we found another 34 caches mostly fairly easy finds with a few tricky micros in the bush. Tip, not all micros are small. Unfortunately we had a few dnf's today, it seemed these were mostly in areas where some cleaning up has taken place and maybe the caches have been taken as well. All up a good day of caching and some exercise to boot. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for hiding this cache.
This was a quick easy find which made up for a brace of recent DNF's. I have seen no one on this trail in over an hour, bliss!
Melbourne parties Friday noon and returned Tuesday morning in Melbourne. I came here to make different trail of caches in the area. It was intense few days with my bike but very nice! I could find caches with superb camouflage, very good ideas from the cachers. This log will be the same for all caches that I made (sorry) But I want to congratulate in particular:
Nut bear & BorisB & Natasha for "Bay Trail" and "Red Hill Express" (Beautiful cover!)
The Three Amigos Geo for "The Pathway"
Gonefishen07 for the great "Rail Trail"
As well as other geocacher who I discovered several caches during these few days.
Thank you very much

Found on our "Making Memories" Tour of Mainland Australia.
Today we explored Wonthaggi and surrounds using geocaching as our guide.
We found a total of 51 caches and this was one of them. Our 48th cache of the day.
As we progressed along the trail we were impressed by the variety of hides and the creative use of containers. Some we found quickly and others needed a little more investigation before they revealed themselves.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for taking the time to place and maintain these caches for our enjoyment. We really appreciate the effort gone into these creative and inventive hides. A great days caching and one we will remember.

First find while on our bike ride with ssmc4 up to Anderson and back today. A nice quick one at 11:45 and we were soon back on our way.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Gonefishen07.

Bogonghazy and I had done some of this trail, todays plan was to bowl over some more of it. Whilst here we had a bit of a look at the Info Centre. Unfortunately, the end wasn't near for us, still so many caches we have to do. We'll still have to come back again another time Thanks to GF07 for the cache and for the entire series.
Another quick find for Sully and I here, but have to report the log is a little damp. (Sorry for the late log)
Thanks again Gonefishen07
