We had to wait for two muggles to leave - one who seemed to be in an extended discussion on the phone. We'd almost given up when they also decided to leave so we returned to make a quick find. Magnificent views!
Fantastic views of the waterfall and only 25 mins from home. Thanks for bringing us here.
Reperio 06:12Day 3 of our tour of Tamworth caching trip, and Master Vitruvius and I were up early to continue our way through the caches from Hillgrove and Wollomombi and then back to Tamworth. This was a very cool place to visit early in the morning, and after enjoying the view, we soon located the cache. Thankfully the road isn't closed to this glorious spot! Thanks for bringing us here it is beautiful
Apologies for the late log here (13.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Quite a wild little spot here, without much of a wall to stop you going over the edge, but since I had the place to myself I enjoyed hunting around for the cache. Carefully. Great views.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
ime for another solo road trip. This time it'll be three days from Brisbane to Dorrigo, Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Quirindie, Armidale, Grafton and back. All to find a few choice geocaches see some places I've never been to before, and others I've seen but too briefly. Today is the third day on the road. Unfortunately for me, my too-brief planning meant the itinerary ended when I arrived in Tamworth. But that's ok, some motel wifi and the geocaching map helped me plan out a chilled (if long) drive home. In my looking about for attractions in the area, Bakers Creek Falls and the gorge got a mention. I looked into it and yup, geocache there!
After leaving Armidale, I'm off via Waterfall Way. Getting along the fast bitumen, I made sure my offline list was saved and turned off onto the dirt roads. My little hatchback might be a little unlikely in these parts, but we've done an awful lot of gravel, dirt and dust! After visiting Metz Lookout, I decided to come to this geocache next. I had no idea if the dirt would get worse, but we'll see how we go.
Needless to say, there was no issue and I enjoyed being off the beaten track. The tiny turnoff lead to a hidden carpark and an area I had all to myself. No messing about, I headed down to the lookout. How incredible to have such a view down the length of the gorge. Unfortunately, the sun was a bit low, and the falls while flowing, were in the shadows of the cliffs. I took some time to watch the vista before me. Then onto the geocache.
Just a quick jump down and with a bit of looking carefully about, had the geocache spotted, in hand and signed by 13:10. I replaced as found and have little else to say other than the waterfalls reminded me a lot of Apsley Falls a bit farther south, and that this detour was also very worth the time! Thanks for showing me this place, magpiecottage

Awesome views down the valley. Quick find.

Waterfall was dry today but the view is still spectacular of the Gorge. Thankyou for placing this here.
Staying around the Armidale area to cache for a few days.
Today was a power trail day, we tackled the Gara, Hillgrove-Metz and Long Point trails and started the Chandler Trail. Overall a very busy day of caching.
Another nice little detour from the trail, sadly the falls weren't going today but the gorge was still beautiful. Managed to make a quick find.
Thanks for the cache

We came out to check out the waterfall and grab the cache at the same time.
Made a nice quick find, well I thought I had but there were only 2 names on it. One in April and the other July. Very strange when the last finder was in October per the app. Had another search and found the original. I have removed the replacement cache that was put there when it shouldn't have been.

Out for the morning caching in and around Hillgrove, most were quick finds but spent far too long searching for the two at which we DNFd Great view of the falls

We arrived just after another group so the cameras were used as a cover to look for the cache, just as they left another family arrived so we had to be stealthy again. Thankfully they were not there for long so we were able to have a good look and find the cache, spotted by Mrs Shifter and retrieved by Mr Shifter.
A great view of the falls from here.

Rolled into Armidale on a drizzly morning but soon cleaned up to a lovely day for caching and exploring. Then decided to head out to Hillgrove on a discovery tour Completed the labs as well. Scored a free dessert with dinner. A fun day pour moi
Loved the views and just located the cache as a car pulled up above. Had it replaced before anyone came down. Took a selfie with Violet the Tabby

#7052 Day 4 of our "Dayboro Plan B" trip. mtrax & myself, having decided to ditch the mega came up with a last minute re-route using some of the accommodation we'd already booked and find some interesting caches. To this end we were very selective and only chose caches with sufficient FPs along the route. Today was just around Armidale, but we took a side trip back to Hillgrove after having to skip it due to time yesterday. Glad we did as it was a great place to geocache and we also grabbed a short trail on the way. Weather was more favorable today with some wind but not cold.
Muggles here. Awkward but mtrax got it eventually.
Thanks magpiecottage

Nine of us took the motorcycles on a ten day trip thru Country NSW. I was the only cacher but where ever we stopped I made time to check for near by caches. This was one of them. Sorry for the generic log. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache
Out collecting the various trails and a few extra caches today. A good day in total with only 1 DNF

Today was "trail' day. We elected to complete the Gara Loop, Hillgrove-Metz and Long Point geocache trails. All found logs were dry and had room for more names.

Another big day of caching with @itsonlybarney, @TeamPQS and @hubbyandmrs. We decided that we would head out to Hillgrove from where we were staying in Armidale. We had a great time on the Hilllgrove-Metz trail, then we headed into town, luckily we had lunch with us and stopped off by the little playground for the geokids to be able to have a run around to stretch their legs. Once lunch was done we collected all the caches in Hillgrove and then headed out to complete the Long Point Trail. Loved all the Hillgrove history with all the signs indicating what was originally there. The Oyster Saloon sounded yummy. TFTC.
Tamworth and Amrmidale Trip March 2020. Day 6. I headed north with Fitzy_1965 along the New England Highway towards Tamworth. This was our day to get the cache trails to the North and east of Armidale, it was a long day with rain showers on and off all day. The day was mostly roadside caches, but they were all of differing levels of challenges, especially when you have to deal with Farmers Friends and Stinging Nettles at almost every cache.

Day 6 of our trip. Enjoying the luxury of staying in a hotel room after our campsite booking got cancelled, it was a nice easy start to the day. Headed out to where we finished last night for what turned out to be another big days caching. We aimed to finish the various trails around Armidale. Next stop for the day, and we came up with a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then headed off to the next one.

Staying at the BlazeAid camp in Yarrowitch and today we were rained out from fencing, so it was a good time to head for Ebor camp to pick up some bits and pieces and see some sights and find some caches along the way. Since it was the Waterfall Way and there had been lots of rain, that was where I focussed my efforts. Waterfalls were pumping today, with many locals and tourists out enjoying the sights and the rain after such a dry spell.
The long-drop here was more like a pond-drop with a torrent flowing through the cubicle. Hope it doesn't flow down the hill !
Very wet around the hide and some contortions required to extract the cache without getting very wet myself, but managed and made the first log in the replacement.
Thanks for the cache and the reeplacement !

I did my first drive and grab geocaching tour. Coming from Switzerland, normally we would go for a walk to look for caches. So thos was intersting and I finally got the hang of it. I did the Gara River Tour, did some hikes and finally took a detour through Hillgrove following the magpie cottages trail.
With our base established at Uralla we headed out to different surrounding localities finding caches as we went. We enjoyed exploring the area and this was one we (us and Snakepiters) targetted and found. Thanks to magpiecottage for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Serious day caching around the Armidale greater area with Liz and Bruce. Good country dirt roads with the car again covered in dust. No DNF's today and some creative caches or great hides were given fav points. we didn't get all the caches in the two days here so we will be back to enjoy the locals hospitality.

There are so many really good caches to be found in this part of the world and we wanted to spend some more time here. Today we thought we would work out a run to find more of the Hillgrove-Metz series.
Hillgrove is an interesting town with all the signs indicating where the businesses used to be and the fact that some buildings have beem removed and erected again in other places. We found all the caches we looked for, signed each log and replaced all as it had been found. Thank you to maggiecottage for a prolific contribution to the caching game and for adopting this cache.

Magnets in place again. Positioned within 3m of GZ due to proximity of 'Farmers Friends'. Happy hunting!
On a geocaching weekend to Armidale with Ozglory. Had a lovely time and saw some beautiful countryside & buildings. I'm definitely falling in love with Armidale.
This trail was our target for the weekend and we got back out today to finish it.
What a stunning view!!! Shame the waterfall wasn't running but super impressive non the less.
A couple of motorbike riders were also enjoying the view so waited for them to head off before having a look around. A nice quick find today.
Thank you so much for placing this cache.

Wow.... we hadn't expected to find a gorge when we stopped, I so wish we could be here when the falls are full of water.
We first found the magnets stuck under the boardwalk and thought the cache had fallen and gone missing. After removing heaps of Farmers Friends I continued the search just in case I could find the cache, then suddenly I spotted it. We placed the magnets back inside the cache but it wouldn't stick to the metal so we carefully placed it in a secure place near GZ.
thanks for sharing this spot.

Our second time out this way and doing the Hillgrove-Metz loop this afternoon. We had a good time finding the various caches as well as visiting Bakers Creek Falls and the view from Metz over to Hillgrove was amazing. Thanks magpiecottage for this series - we appreciate the time setting up and maintaining these trails!
Today was our second day around Hillgrove during our stay in Armidale. The weather was great and hopefully we find the caches we are looking for!
Apology for the generic email. The caches on the country roads are always great to do and some of the sights, gorges and waterfall (with no water falling) were fantastic. TFTC magpiecottage

Day 2 of the trip the Geo-Muster mega next week-end. I am travelling south from Toowoomba with my Caro.
Today, Caro wanted to find 25 different D/T combination for a challenge cache in Brisbane. I have already completed the challenge but was happy to go along as I was going to spend today caching around the greater Armidale area anyway. [^]
The day started out this way with 8 different D/T combinations found before heading back to Armidale.
A short search for his cache before Caro found it.
Unfortunately there was no water flowing over the falls today.
