A great weekend spent on North Stradbroke with Beardman75, Peppa, wayn0 and NowToMorrow, picking up as many caches as we can. This is my third time on Straddie and have never taken a moment to stop and look at this spot. We found the cache but the log was too wet to sign. Thanks for the cache culture50Find # 6179
Ive never visited North Stradbroke Island in the decades, many decades Ive lived in Brisbane, an opportunity never presented itselfSo when Davinells made the suggestion, I cleared my calendar and packed my best Travel Princess bags with the specific list:- Camping Mat; Sleeping Bag; Pillow; Torch; & Chair The pillow is still at home on the dining table Coming across with Beardman75 the plan involved meeting up with Wayn0 and Now To Morrow after a boozy morning at the local brewery, theirs, not ours That meant we could cache awayThe cache was found without issue, although the log is mush and unusableThanks culture50 Koala Count: 0
Nice cache but the size sort of put me off. Looked around for a bit thinking it was IN the cattle dip. Looked around in the outside of the fence but then I expanded and struck gold! Log was too soggy so I took a photo. Nice one, thanks for the cache! Coolabah OUT!!!
Correcting a DNF from Jan 2021. That was the day I purchased premium for the first time to get some caches on Straddie. Not as experienced we spent 20 mins looking here with nothing. This time is was a minute and it was in hand thanks to Billy. Log is very wet. Signed. Replaced. TFTC. Find number #1238
Apparently I didn't log my DNF last time we were here - but came up with a quick win this time!Found with Gorjess - got a nice map of smiley's now!
Day One on North Stradbroke Island with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Thankfully she let me do some caching as well. It was nice to be finally back on North Stradbroke Island for years. Plus my wife hasnt been here at all. We check into our accommodation the head over for lunch. Oh yes it was a beautiful lunch. Then on the way back to Point Lookout I grab four caches.culture50 thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment
Nice little walk from our accommodation and good spot to read about a bit of history. TFTC My muggle husband strikes again- he said - what about there?, and he was right!!
I did find it I would like to correct my last post that I didn't write on it and it was very small probly a micro
This cache was smaller than usual, and a fun find. Saw a koala on our way over!
Had a good look around but had to resort to the spoiler photo to point us in the right direction

A few humid days on Straddie, but still in the mood for caching! Liked this one, since this was a site I would otherwise not have visited, had to search for a while, but thanks to a spoiler photo back to the same spot I was searching before and found it. Thanks for the cache! Team SBNR
Odloveno při cestě po Austrálii. Díky za kešku, pozdrav z České republiky.
Caught on a trip to Australia. Thanks for the cache, greetings from the Czech Republic.

Good hiding spot! log was hard to get out as there's an old log smooshed into the bottom of the cache.
Over here helping the Geo kid plan an event. Thanks for putting this here as otherwise we would never have stopped.
Second geocache of the day. Had a car load of non geocachers with us and think they had some fun too. Find made by one of them.
Scratched around and it did not take long to find it.
Replaced the log with a waterproof paper
Thank you for hiding this geocache culture50

Visiting Straddie for the weekend with friends. Found after a short search and had the chooks helping me too. Thanks for the interesting cache location.
Driving back to Dunwich, we stopped here to have a look at a bit of history. That cattle dip is deep!
After having a good look around, we made our way to GZ where it was a quick and well secured hide. Nice one!
We have added our name to the log.
While we were searching, a chicken was just 50 cm away and helping us search with its scratching . Photo attached.
Thanks culture50

Out with the group signing under the Team name of Sat 5 for the day. I really enjoyed my time on the island today and plan to bring the family over at some point.
Went on my first full day of caching with Nayfee, Chamad, Willis007 and JACS team.
Quick and easy find for this cache and interesting history behind it.
Thanks for bringing us here

I had organised a short day trip to straddie to do some caching with Willis007, JACS Team, Nayfee and Alycem8. It was a great day, some fun drives, a few short walks and always a few laughs. The day started with a 6 am depart from the Cleveland ferries to Dunwich. It was then a drive around the island in a clockwise direction grabbing caches as we went.
There were a few easy finds and a few that took up valuable time. We got in a nice oldie and a few earth caches. Then there was the drive to Blue Lake, which is no longer a drive to, not happy Jan, so with limited time we will have to leave this one for another day. Thanks to my buddies for the day and to the CO’s for all these caches. We signed the caches as SAT5, however there may be a few that got signed with all our names, lol.
This was our next stop and an easy find and at such an informative location, thanks. With log signed, we were off for a little walk around the rock.

A quick find on a caching day out at Straddie with chamad, JACS Team, Alycem89, NayFee, signing logs as SAT5.
Alycem89 and myself had the pleasure to join Chamad, Willis007 and JACS Teams for an action packed day of caching on North Stradbroke Island.
We hopped on the 6am barge and slowly but surely we made our way over while admiring the beautiful scenery. After a 50 minute boat ride we finally arrived and hit the road in search of some caches.
Quick simple find here. We also took notice of the history that took place here and checked out the nearby structure.
Thanks for bringing us here.

XXXX is also called the Terror Incognita. The land is inhospitable because the flora and fauna all hate you and there is never any rain. It is a baking-hot land of red sand. The Ecksians generally dig into the ground to get water. The continent is surrounded by a permanent anticyclone. Even in the direction that people can get their boats out into the ocean, they have to remember not to go too far out, because the edge of the Discworld is very near.
Known locations include the major city Bugarup with its magical university and the smaller towns of; Dijabringabeeralong, Worralorrasurfa and Cangoolie.

What a random thing to find here although I’m not sure about the story of the cows swimming across. Sharks would’ve had a field day. Quick find. Thanks for the cache
Great location, had no idea this was even here!
No one on us today so will send photographic evidence to cache owner instead. TFTC

Visiting the island for a few days. Wanted to grab some caches as well. Stopped off here to see if we could find this cache. Short search and we soon had it. Log was very damp and delicate to handle but did manage to sign. Replaced cache as found. TFTC
Back in June I spend a couple of days on Straddie fat bike riding along the beach and the various trails. It was a great time, so great i didn't have time or bother to look for geocaches. (Well the rest of the group are all muggles). Every day we came to the coffee shop right above this cache for a coffee /snack as we started our ride. Didn't even peek at the phone at the time.
Wind forward a couple of weeks and I'm back again with the Fat Bike but solo riding and caching so heaps of time to combine 2 favorite activities. Nice little spot and the coffee drinkers above didn't even seem to notice. They were too busy taking in the views.
Just look hard , it is there.

Also a DNF for me, would like to come back if owner confirms it's still here but leaving soon.
I looked up, it looked down, I did everything but start raking leaves. No sign of the little mouse on the systema or the smaller five in people's pictures.
Not a reflection on this cache: I've really struggled to find anything this trip - and I've even replaced a muggled container too!
But I'm not upset because otherwise I wouldn't not have found this cool piece of history.

Hurrah! Located! Fourth smiley today as we explore Straddie cache by cache! Thank you.
Interest place that we just read about in the museum. Poor Bill North. Retired and ended up in the asylum and then dead 6 years later.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Tftc interesting site for sure. Great container but paper is full and needs replacement.
Easy find a bit of climbing about the clue was good. Signed the log and replaced the cache. Tftc
Fantastic and most enjoyable day spent on the Island with geo friends RoddyC, hatzofff & E_Smiley.
Had to widen our search to find this one, not the size we were looking for.

Hatzofff and I are with E_Smiley and Snickersallan spending a day caching on North Straddie.
Hmmm. Although still at GZ, the cache is not what we would call a small. Nicely hidden though.

Interesting bit of history the cows must have been much skinnier then the ones we have now, nice easy find Not where I expected it be TFTC
Back in my old stomping grounds after an eight year absence (I was a muggle in those days) so have a lot of caching up to do in South East Queensland. Today, our eldest granddaughter wanted to go to Stradbroke Island. We said "sure" but it will involve caching as well as sight seeing. She used to live on Straddy a few years ago. My dad worked there back in the '70s and I used to visit him on weekends, at his caravan at Pt Lookout. My son learnt to walk there, I learnt to drive.....
Grandie had never been here but had wondered what it was from afar. Today was her chance to learn. I had been here before, so knew exactly what it was. In my day, it was not fenced off.
After explaining to Grandie was a cattle dip was, we found the cache and returned to the car. Thanks culture 50. Fave point for an interesting location

Tftc!!! I'm pretty sure I just saw a bull ant... Geocaching in Australia: potentially most exhilarating sport
Didn’t want to poke around too much and something in the area kinda stunk so we moved on.
TFTC! Found by JT and the crew! JT Mum Dad, James Bronte Izzy, Henry and Thanasi! Great hide was smaller than expected but found in the end.
A very wet weekend camping on Straddie. Not many people on island. Very quiet. Found cache ok.
This cache was a quick and easy find.
I remember helping to push the sheep into one of these when I was a child. Dipping sheep is much more sophisticated these days.

Cool thought was a bomb but map in a incorrect spot. Another hint is its in line with the 6 rocks and after the 3rd rock there is a tree and then trees and some where around the trees
No luck for me today, spent a lot of time, probably a bit of cache blindness on my part. A great place for a cache and a little more historical knowledge to take away from the island. Thanks culture 50
Found by geoboy jnr on day 3 of our straddie adventure. What a gorgeous place and this little piece of interesting history for which we would not have stopped but for a cache. Nice hide. Tftc
You know what culture50, I think you should put a cache on North Stradbroke for something different..... Oh
Crew 153, Pprime, Captain Terror, and I went for this one as it was close to where we were cabinning up.
My phone seemed to put me in the same area as the others - but no cache to be found. We widened the search a little and soon came up with the well-hidden prize.
A very worthy area of a cache. I wonder what the area looked like "back in the day"....?

Been a long time coming for me - I've been living here in QLD for almost 25 years, Mrs Prime nearly twice that ... neither of us have ever been to Straddie before. Ever. So the plan was unfolded to spend a few days in the amazingly mighty Suzee on North Stradbroke Island. Fangsoki, Crew153, Herbz and later Captain Terror, Stairman1 and Goldielover all joining us.
This one was rather close to our accommodation, but it was day three before we went over to take a look. Initially some random scratching around, but eventually the neatly hidden little beastie (very little beastie) was spotted.
Thanks for placing this cache, culture50. Found in good condition.
