Alas, it turns out that this one will not stand the test of time. I no longer live in the area and I will not be able to maintain it after all. I have loved having this cache - I used to walk past it many times a week for many years. I've enjoyed sharing in the experience of parking in Hurstville with you all. But it is time to say goodbye. Yours in geocaching, Smirkwood.
Hi all, thank you for your patience. I have plans to fix this cache up over the next couple of days when I'll be in the area during Christmas time. Hope anyone reading this is well and having a happy and safe holiday period. Cheers, Smirkwood
Thanks to the info from ThomasLiu, I am disabling this for now. I was in the area last week (I'm not here often these days) and noticed that the info had changed and wasn't sure how long ago it was changed. I will try and come by soon to fix it up.
The Carpark at Waypoint 2 has changed and the sign with the required information has been removed. Can the cache owner please check up on the Carpark and update the calculations. Thanks.
Managed to grab this cache after eying it off for a long while - just looked such fun but was never stranded in Hurstville long enough to merit working out the multi.Got the coords from the counting and maths involved and the cache was soon in hand; TFTC!
Needed to be nearby, and then had some time to kill. Walked over here and made the solution, then found the cache in the obvious spot.
Cheers

Found It!
Today the carpark at WP1 had AB cars in it, plus another 3 illegally parked ones as well. Meanwhile the carpark at WP2 was only about half full. I don't understand why people are so desperate to park at the WP1 carpark when there are so many extra parks available only 100m away. Anyhow, I collected the numbers and then wandered over to the final location and found the cache after a quick search!

Busy Saturday morning! Should’ve come at a different time. Would recommend getting out and walking to the different locations. Great hide and enjoyed calculating the final spot. TFTC! (Might need a new log soon)
Fun little multicache. Having experienced the triangle of death many times, we appreciated it log was in good condition but it was a little hard to fish out of the cache. Coords a little off so previous logs were helpful
It was a fun cache to find but in the end could not reach the cache. Saw it and tried reaching for it, but could not pull it out as it was stuck somehow. Had some muggled come ask me what I was doing too!
Did try reaching out to CO about maintenance.

really fun cache!! glad we found it relatively quickly, it was starting to get dark haha
Took a while to find the cache but got it in the end. I was starting to think it might have been replaced but I'm glad I stayed more to dig around. Please note that WP2 parking is now 2P, but 3P but the coordinate still matched up. TFTC!
A friend said the word geocache earlier this week and it triggered a forgotten memory in me
Had an hour spare in the area and decided to try my first cache in 3 and a half years
Hardest part was opening it lmao

Forgot a pen, but glad we found it! Lots of muggles around. Careful not to slip onto the tracks
Had some time to kill before my ride was able to pick me up so set about getting the closest cache to my meeting point.
Once all the info was obtained the cache was soon in hand at GZ.
Thanks

A Friday off work, a beautiful sunny day, time to go on a geocaching adventure.
I struggled with the checker for some reason, so double checked my maths, and I was always getting the same numbers. It helps when you transcribe the correct numbers, the checker was green. Off to GZ for a very quick hunt. Did the legals and replaced as found.

Got the calculations wrong a couple of times until I was able to get the accurate ones.
Finding the cache turned to be a bit harder as the hint made no much sense to me
Finally was able to claim the smiley face

#5788 (3 of 3 today)
Decided to head south, but not too far south for today’s finds.
Here are still a number of caches just north of the Georges Iver I haven’t grabbed. So I picked out three for today’s foray.
lol went to plan and I had no trouble finding any of them. HUZZAH!
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Parked at waypoint 2 with no troubles, and funnily enough even before I was out of the car the vehicles either side of me drove away.
Got my answers and then walked to the published coordinates. Miscounted the first time, but luckily I always count these things twice so I can be confident of my answer.
Calculated GZ and got the OK from the checker.
Quick find at GZ. The container struck me as too exposed - in plain sight to be honest.
Grabbed, signed and replaced as found. Then back to *The Hademobile*.
Yeah, that triangle is a strange car park!

A clever little multi. After jagging a street park I walked to the triangle car park and did the counting, nearly missed one though. Continued on to the second car park and here I found, much to my relief, that parking spots were numbered so only a quick subtraction was required. Found some shade to do the sums before walking off to gz where it was soon CIH. TFTC smirkwood.
Found myself in Sydney for a 4 day course out in Hurstville. Study by day, cache by night (or straight after the day's activities continuing into the night). Staying downtown and commuting back and forth along the T4, inbetween there was time for Skyping with the family back home, eating, showering and sleeping. Other than that, not much else was done.
Apologies for the generic log, specific details added as noted along the way. TNLNSL TFTC
Took the opportunity to head out at lunch to find the only multi about. Muggles everywhere, but used that to my advantage, no watching what i was doing. Details taken, calculations made (sitting down on a car park gutter), then the short walk across to GZ. A quick find, again, no one giving a rat what I was doing.

Head a good run on the m5 parking lot this morning so i had plenty of time to spare after driving my sister for an appointment.
So after walking over to the deadly place (i won't park here) i recounted the numbers and calculated a gz on the other side of the bridge than i first had when i attempted this yea's ago.
Thanks for the cache.

Mrs Gaztek was in the area for some work training so came in a bit early for a geocache. Nothing like the coldest morning of the year (-1 in Hurstville this morning!!) to get you moving. It’s been ages since we first came to Sydney and lived in the St George area when Hurstville Plaza was the only mall in the area. Parking back in the late 80s was so challenging that we opted to go to Eastgardens when it opened. Not much has changed! There was a troupe of mature ladies practicing a dance routine in one of the parking lots around 7 today. Made my way to GZ, determined the best level and made a big reach to nab the container. A nice diversion to start the week. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
Based on the hint, I think this container has had cache creep as it way more in plain sight now, but I put it back whereI found it. TFTC
smirkwood I found your cache The Triangle of Death on 25/3/18, 10:18 am. This is my find 1939 and find # 2 today. Couldn't find a park in the first car park but able to in the second one. Did the calculations and came up with a reasonable location for GZ. Unable to check with evince, but my calculations were right and had cih as soon as I got to GZ. Thanks for the cache! TNSLLN
This one took us 8 days to find. This is our first multi cache we have ever found. So relieved after this! Interesting co-ords didn't feel safe at final location! But found and logged and replace. Btw this isn't a micro!!
Well I happened to get a parking spot right in the 'Triangle of Death' so decided to collect the information for this cache at the same time. Walked around and had to double check a few of the numbers, as some were easy to miss. Then came home and worked out the final coordinates.
Back again to find the final cache, and once again I managed to get a parking spot nearby. Walked across towards gz and after reading the hint and some previous logs, thought that this may be a difficult find. But I spotted the cache on my approach and it was a very easy find. Seems that the original cache may have previously gone missing and this is a replacement cache in an easier location. Signed the log and then replaced the cache as found when no muggles were nearby. Another enjoyable multi. Even witnessed a little altercation in the carpark and someone doing the trick mentioned - hazards on noone in the car. We are stuck... Lol
Definatley lives up to its name. Very inteesting as apparently u can park anywhere, doesnt matter if its a spot or not lol. Nice little multi and cords spot on TFTC.
I have been sitting on the final coords for this one for a little while and quite appropriately have been putting off finding it due to a lack of parking in the area. Today as I was driving past with geoson there was a space to park so I grabbed it and we made our way up to GZ. After some feeling around, I could feel the cache and at full stretch I could just reach it. Success! Signed the log and interestingly was the first to sign it since November last year. I guess signing logs is optional these days?
Thanks for another great cache smirkwood.
Very appropriate GZ as I have almost been wiped out in my car a couple of times by other drivers that can't stay in their lane at this triangle of death!

Today I did a tour around Kogarah and Hurstville areas seeing what they are like. And what would be a better way to see places than tour from cache to cache. This cache was along the route and, naturally, deserved to be checked out.
After touring Kogarah, I caught the train again and this cache was my first in Hurstville. The cache name was a bit off-putting but once I started to read the description, it got an explanation. So, onto WP1 during the busy Saturday mid-late morning shopping hour. And, oh my, that's a bit of a mayhem there! People circling that little spot around, stopping, jamming the flow, just making it all - well - not work at all.
Data collected, WP2 targeted. More data collected, and final coords punched in the app. The smartiephone app map dutifully showed a location that was actually very well suited as I was hoping to go that way, anyway.
At the final, did some touchy-feely but soon stopped after putting my hand through spiderwebs. Oh, no, stop! I won't want any spider bites!
Another angle was in order. And that was easily available and the few bypassers on foot didn't seem to care. Container spotted, optimal retrieval angle identified, and shortly after the logsheet was signed. [^]
All good here! TFTC, Smirkwood!

I've had this cache on my to-find list since it was published ages ago. But the thought of trying to find parking around the area has put me off every time. Today, I happened to be in the area completing some multis so decided to take the plunge.
From WP1 to GZ took just under 15 minutes. Finding parking and then getting out of the Westfield carpark took 27 minutes cumulative. What more can we say?
Glad this cache is finally out of the way. TFTC smirkwood.

Triangle of a Death is right! Does anyone else find Hurstville difficult to negotiate/navigate? So many one-way streets, so many strange angles at tricky intersections. Well at least I managed to get a free park only a short walk from GZ and found the cache quickly. TFTC smirkwood
This one proved a bit tricky as there was some construction work going on at WP1 and I had to guess a couple of times at the number of spaces, and at WP2 I miscounted the number of space at first, so I sent myself on a wild goose chase. After figuring everything out it was an easy find. My lady friend likes to call this place "Worstville" due to the bad layout and bad traffic. TFTC
Been working on this one for a while now, doing bit by bit as I get time. I finally had a little bit more time and headed to the final position to get this one. I must admit this one had me stumped and with a muggle population at a record high I was short on time and the ability to search unhindered.
As luck would have it I found my target, make my legals, replaced in secret and wish the next treasure hunter the best of luck.

This has been one of my closest unfound for so long, it was no longer really one of my closest!
Finally got to do it today, a bit trickier due to the work going on at WP1

As I don't drive I arrived by train - and I'm glad I did as the WP parking options were both full.
At WP1 the construction meant I needed to use an online tool to confirm my thinking. No problems with WP2 info.
Made the short walk to GZ and after s few false starts made the find.
Thanks fur my first wander around Hurstville

That was a drama. Construction at WP1 meant no disabled spots and an area that was probably once parking covered in sand and building equipment. A number of cars were parked in non marked bays created by the construction fences blocking parts of the triangle. Evince rejected my calculations, but when I recounted everything, they appeared correct. I was more confident with my easting, so decided to wander and use cache sense. Intuition and the hint revealed a few likely spots and cache was soon in hand. TFTC
The sweet caching deities were looking down upon me today when they delivered me from the pain and torment that have been The Triangle of Death. I'd collected the required info for this one well over 12 months ago, long before any construction work and had visited the GZ at least 4 times (lots of muggle dodging required) but still this little bugger couldn't be found. I decided the only thing to do was to consult a PAF who was able to clarify some of my suspicions. And then today, under a glowing orange sunset, geodog and I claimed the smiley. Oh joyous caching day (especially because I also picked up a couple of survey markers along the way too). Thanks smirkwood for the adventure, even if the end result (for me) was a long time coming.
We popped here for pork rolls for lunch today and even braved the triangle of death for parking. Wow, that place gets busy! Of course it wasn't to be, and we instead found on-street parking near WP2. Getting info at WP1 was difficult with the construction work going on but with a bit of trial and error we soon found where to go. TFTC!

TFTC - currently streaking, #61. I decided on this guy today, as I had time & it's near the train line. After getting to WP1, I had to PAF as they have half of the car park closed for construction works. Soon got some numbers, headed to WP2, more numbers, before getting GZ location. Found with no issues, argh no pen, photo of log as proof, before replacing and heading off to work.

Finally! After three attempts I can tick this one off the list. Had all the coordinates worked out just kept picking the wrong beam! Well hidden cache but worth it in the end. Having short arms doesn't help when making the grab. And so much muggle traffic (both on foot and in cars) means stealth is required. Thanks to Kid Ron Satan for some tips. And TFTC Smirkwood. You really tested me with this one. #90. Brewmaker
The fenced off section at WP1 makes counting the non-disabled parking spaces difficult.
5/09/15. 3:59 PM. Cache #2928. Streak day #440.
4th of 4 this afternoon.
The previous cache that I found today was also a multi ("Friday") and that one took ages, involving quite a bit of driving. This one, I hoped, would be quite a bit shorter.
I managed to score a parking spot inside the triangle, and then worked on the first set of numbers. Walked over to WP2 where I did the same (while witnessing a rear-ender between two cars leaving the carpark). Tried evince and got rejected. Just as I suspected based on Brewmaker's log - the fenced off part of the triangle threw off my calculations (by 3 as it turned out).
With no green light from evince, I tried the Blue Mountains caching hotline and got through - I received some good directions as to where GZ was and managed to make the find! After signing and replacing, I calculated the coordinates of where I was and reverse calculated that AB was too low by 3, which must have been the number of fenced off spots. Anyway, glad I managed to clear this one! Now time to head home before heading out again for the Swans game. TFTC.

Ventured to WP1 and WP2 by bicycle on way home from work. Checked all the car spaces and times and did the maths. Submitted them into the Coordinate Verification. Reply: "Sorry! The coordinates you entered do not match the coordinates specified by the cache owner". Hmm? Headed anyway to another nearby triangle in search of cache using my calculated GZ. A very high muggle area with many pedestrians and car activity at traffic lights so after a quick search and digging around no CIH. Wasn't too sure about the beam hint, but thought I had the right area, despite the roses been a thorn in my side. Will try again if I happen to get the right coordinates. PS: There is some work going on in WP1 and some spaces are blocked off behind a fence! This makes counting a little difficult!
The parking situation here is why I usually come to Hurstville by train. Meeting today and decided to have a go at this one before catching the train back to the city. Easy find with a surprisingly good view once I did the calculations. Beautiful day today. Thanks for the cache.
I recall one night trying to track this one down and thought I had things nutted out but to no avail. This morning I was back after a review and before too long the cache was in hand. Glad to have been able to tick this one off the list! TFTC!
There is a kind of irony in doing this cache. Take one car park already inadequate to the needs of the local community, and then send a bunch of geocachers in there, also looking for a place to park and a cache. We were in two separate cars today. By some miracle, Canary managed to get a car park immediately, but we were not so lucky. The WaywardWoman was doomed to circle the car park like all the hapless locals while Canary and I did the calculations. At the second car park she was forced to park illegally while we wrapped things up. Makes us grateful to live in the mountains! Thanks
I turned into the carpark and straight into a spot!?!
The multi was a nice simple one with easy maths and a short walk.

After golf and I needed to find a cache for the day to cross another day off my calendar, headed over to Hurstville unlucky to get a car park in the car park, but lucked a park in the street. Finished off the counts then off to GZ, it was nice and handy, signed the log and replaced. Thanks smirkwood.

TFTF was going slightly insane with the high muggle traffic on a Saturday morning but finally experienced success!
Second time lucky! It was actually a really good hiding spot, got my hands slightly dirty. Thanks for your help Smirkwood!
I checked the cache the other day and it is still there... Feel free to write me with the calculations and coordinates you got because I do obviously want this cache to be found and enjoyed!

I managed to work out the clues and received the correct coordinates. It was fun counting the car parks I made my way to where the coordinates directed me and may have imagined why you picked this subtle area. But unfortunately I did not manage to find it. I also took notice of your hint. I was sure it was that beam! Had to stop rummaging when a few people walking by were giving me dirty looks.

I gathered information last night, came up with some co-ords, had a quick look in the dark and walked away empty handed.
Checking this morning the checker does not agree but I am certain I have enough information to be able to work out where I went wrong and knock this off before too long.

Whoops wrong cache log below I will have to amend when I return to Papaka HQ
DNF I've been here so many times might send thru my workings for you to check as I'm positive my coords are correct but maybe I missed something !!

Good Saturday mourning multi without any parking issues. My coords were spot on but my checksum tallied up to 23,?? Not 22. Now, When I punched in the coords and looked at google maps, location appears reasonable. I thought I may as well look even with wrong total.
Looked for over 10mins and even climbed to the other side, expanded my search and bam. CIH, thanks Smirkwood

A quick check the other night when I was in the area confirmed it's still there. Come find me!
Nice cache! Lid was open when found. Log is still there but anything else may have fallen out.
This one got a bit tricky for me trying to count past the number of fingers on both hands. Probably why I got it wrong first time but thanks to the checksum I could work it out anyway!
my my, the cords were all over the place when we were searching for GZ. but eventually we overcame the challenge and succeeded.

Nice hiding spot. Had the wrong coordinates for a bit, but found it eventually.

This was relatively easy to find, fun too. I used my Samsung NOTE for this one and it led me straight to the right spot. As a newbie I am enjoying the hunt....... TFTC
First of five for the day - with two geokids and a geobaby in tow, that's pretty good for us. Geomum spent most of her life in Hurstville so no trouble identifying wp1, but never had reason to walk down the street to wp2. Hint was very useful - wish other cache-hiders would do the same. Forgot pen so didn't sign log.
As this one is so close to home, I could not let it go unfound, so today I revisited tre GZ and had the cache in hand within seconds. Can't understand why that didn't happen the firstr time. TFTC.
FTF with JustR. Logging this after 1.5yrs. I wrote a note at the time, then forgot to actually log as found. TFTC
Wp3 had me in the middle if a multistory carpark, without a reachable beam in sight.
Hmm that does not at all sound right. I have had a check and I'm pretty certain my info is correct. I have sent you, steptoe, an email though so feel free to respond to that and check your findings with me.
I was a bit slow checking my email this morning so didn't see the notification until late in the morning. As this is within walking distance of Skink HQ and with a DNF logged , I set off hoping for a FTF. The numbers were quickly found, the calcs. done and checks checked ok so it was off to the GZ. The spot looked promising and certainly not near a multi level car park, but after a lengthy search I had to admit defeat. The eyes weren't with me today.
Well I am not sure what I did earlier today to stuff up wp3, but this time I worked it out right (have not been home yet to read the email about last try).
Anyway I went below, and spotted it easily, making it a quick grab, but not in time for first to find.

Joint FTF with Rat&Brats, who knows the area quite well. We were a bit worried about finding this after seeing Steptoe logged a DNF, but figured we'd give it a try. Found the required info easily, got to GZ, and after waiting for a break in the muggle traffic, retrieved the cache from the first spot we tried. TFTC and the TB smirkwood
A non-geocaching.com TB is in there for the FTF. Unfortunately, I could not fit any of my proper TBs in there but I hope you can appreciate it nonetheless!
