[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there mvyrmnd. We found your cache "Old Murmungee Hall" at 11:26:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 12262.
[Blue]
Today, instead of wearing our behinds off on the rail trail, we decided to make a start on the HSS (and of course all the others we passed along the way). The weather was really nice, and there is definitely a fresh eucalyptus smell in the air. We enjoyed our drive today, and have placed a favourite point on the more "inventive" caches we found (hopefully we remembered them all). We didn't finish the series - but there's always another day, & we ended up logging 51 and DNF'ing 4 today.
[Green]Thanks for placing a large cache here. It is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing. While nanos and eclipse tins sometimes have their place in an urban environment these, along with 200ml Sistemas, seem to be the norm these days even out in more remote areas. It made us feel really glad to find a large, kid friendly cache here.[/Green] [/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: [Red]The cache was soaked, we spent some time drying it out, but it still needs some "Owner TLC".[/Red]
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing in the small ones, and a smiley badge wherever we could fit one.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.[font=Verdana]

Easy find because it was exposed with open lid and full of rank water. We drained it, lightly screwed the lid back on in the hope the air will remove the rank, "minging" smell however that was about all we could do so I guess it's up to the owner to give it some TLC.

Someone opened it and did not replace the lid so we found it full of rank water. Log book is soaked (as is everything inside) so maintenance is urgently required.
Very wet after the lid was left off, we did our best but it will need urgent attention.
We found this one but couldn't sign the log, the lid was off and the container full of water as was the zip log bag with the log book inside, we put the lid back on after emptying it but we didn't have any replacements so I'll add a maintenance. Nice hall though.
Out to see the sights and to have a caching day with our caching friends Biggles of OZ and Mrs Biggles. After stopping at Lake Buffalo for lunch we continued on towards Beechworth. A nice easy find as the cache was exposed. The container was full of water as was the snap lock bag the log was in so we were unable to sign. We did our best but the cache needs urgent maintenance. Our fifth cache for the day. TFTC
TFTC our 100'th. Even meet some of the locals and offered a cup of tea! JDBJ
TFTC. Having achieved of goal of 6 multis for the day, we were heading back home. Passing this hall we stopped in to find that there was a cache here. Very quickly we located GZ and signed the log.
What a great little spot and well kept hall. Geobub was getting impatient and i thought this may lead to a DNF. I went to leave and noticed what i thought would be the perfect area to place a cache, over we went to investigate and THERE IT WAS!
Geobub attempted to assist my log signing by trying to eat the pen while i tried to use it for the intended purpose. After a brief struggle geobub admitted defeat by letting out a frustrated cry that spooked a near by magpie who had been eyeing us off.
Cache was returned to its well placed hide and bub and i returned to the car.

went the long way about this one as is often the case where fences are involved. tftc mvyrmnd
nice sized container found after a quick search. do not see these turnstiles around much. (at all).
What a great little hall, and so good to see it is in such good upkeep. We loved seeing the definition from the old raised path and the trees that lined it. At GZ we easily found the container covered by some rather unusual camouflage.

Our GPS didn't like being under the gum trees, it took Muggle Hubby outside the fence, and then he found an open gate to come back in, and the cache. Left a gorilla to guard the TB I left there which wanted to visit places of architectural importance, thought this one fitted the bill
We have driven past this old hall a few times on our journeys to other places, today I decided to stop in and find the cache.
Geobear9 was with me and we were surprised to see the size of the cache, love those big ones.
We stayed a while and looked around the building, it is nice to see that old places like this are being restored and cared for.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Have been waiting for the renovations to be completed to this quaint little hall so we can access the area. All done now and ready for a big Australia Day Breakfast tomorrow. The hall looks wonderful.

Found at 1:38 PM GAFF1 in the company of xambo4u. Nicely renovated, but the roof kinda appears to be not in keeping with the era? Shouldn't it be shingles or bark?
2 shillings for 2 children per week! Gosh - how did farmers around here manage to pay for that?

Having arrived in Myrtleford yesterday it was with great enthusiasm we headed out today to do this series and as many of the other nearby caches that we could. Phetlern were able to join us for some caching in the afternoon and it was great to be in their company. We loved the variety of hides and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, contented cows and gorgeous old trees. Bruce and I were season ticket holders for the 36ers for several years and it was nice to see some familiar names come up. Thanks to mvyrmnd for placing this cache.

Catching up on some late logs.
Day three of our five day stint in Everton with Alansee and The Drovers trying our luck on some of the power and Rail trails in the area.
It is great to see this old hall still being used, it has a lot more character than a new one could ever have.
The cache was a fairly quick find and our names are now in the log.
To save time and not take up room on the logs we signed as ACDC
Alansee AC The Drovers Team Crackers. (Mainly because it sounded good. )

One of 102 caches found today during a big three day cache run, up to and around Kelly country which included Benalla, Tolmie, Beechworth and Glenrowan. A great three days spent exploring and discovering with a fantastic group of fellow cachers, which we collectively called ourselves 'The Kelly Gang'.
Today being Friday, I spent the day caching on my own as I made my way around the conutryside before meeting up with the rest of the gang at our camping spot for the night at Stringy Bark Creek. I had a nice early start, hitting the road before dawn and the sun rose as I made my way through the Great Dividing Range. A perfect day for caching which included some time biking it around Benalla, before heading for Beechworth to find some 'Challenge' caches and some of the HSS series caches, then back south to Stringy Bark Creek for a fantastic camp fire dinner with some great company.
I parked at hte gates and walk past the old hall to GZ and soon had the cache. Thanks for the hide.

The "Danger-construction signs" put us off a bit at first, but when the gps took us away from the hall we thought it would be OK. Found the cache quickly and made our exit. The building is being repaired and we did not attempt to access it. A beautiful location and a real feel of history about it. TFTC
What a charming old building. Reading the plaque on the front door, it was amazing to think of those that had settled here so long ago and to imagine what life must have been like for them. Thanks for the cache.

Beechworth HSS trip March 2014 with Mtrax, Sol de Lune and Fitzy. Most of the journey was made up of the HSS puzzles which were all solved before the trip with very little input from me. The collections were made on bike or by car. The various bike legs were the highlight and were very enjoyable. We did manage many other caches in the region and all in all it was a great trip with friends with a good mix of caches and great food at the local pub. Thanks.

I apologise for taking a few days before logging but I've just finished a week long caching/camping holiday with the family. Early on in the week I met up with caching buddies Blacklegend and Roostaman for an assult on the High Voltage and HSS series before leaving that caching duo to meet in Melbourne for another assult on a power trail west of Ballarat. This was one of those caches found with them. Great times as always. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. PS. I apologise also for the generic log, but I don't have a lot of time ATM and I'm back at work ...

The Old Murmungee Hall is certainly a wonderful link to the past. Out and about with Ava from Beavar after school and this one showed up on the GPS a little further along the road. OK one more cache before we head for home to prepare dinner for the hoards. We have been past this Hall quite a few times on caching trips, so it was nice to stop today and find a cache as well. The road is still busy, but today there are school buses and parents driving kids home from school as well as the odd local farmer or two. We drove around the back of the Hall and made the find from there at 4.05pm TN Left: giraffe. A well kept Hall and surrounds which obviously is still valued by the Murmungee community. I like the charm of these old country buildings, could imagine the many gatherings and events that have been held here over the many years its been here.
Particularly liked the timber turnstile entry, can't say I have seen one of those before.
Cache was located quickly, so was signed and we were on our way.
TFTC, TNLN, Cheers.

Found out and about with DazRascal MTB'ing through the Murmungee area today testing out the legs on a few of the hills.
This was the last cache for the day after tackling a few of the hills. Was nice to be on flat ground again.
A beautiful old hall that we have passed many times over the years and nice to see a cache here to highlight it. I;m sure those walls would have a few stories!
Thanks Simo! TNLN SL. Cheers!

Quick find on the way to the mountains for a day expedition with skullracing. TFTC
Out with the family away from home and enjoying one of my favourite drives, along the Buckland Gap Rd heading toward Myrtleford. We had to stop and have a look at the old hall today, and we had plenty of time to do so this trip, so we alighted at the turnstile and walked up to the historic building.
A small community like Murmungee would of treated the hall here as a major meeting place no doubt. As the cache page description says, it was used for virtually everything. I imagine it was last used possibly only a couple of days ago for Anzac Day functions.
The stables out the back further added to prompting the imagination to the activities from the 'darker' times. A resting place for the carriage horses maybe?. Regardless, we took a few photos and marvelled at how good the hall looked for its antiquity.
"Ok kids, it's looking like we might get a bit damp soon, let's go find the cache!". The kids in charge of numbers and Dad following we soon came upon the sturdy container, and SL at 1.35pm. We took Brown Roo TB for a holiday and soon moved on our way, not before a family photo at the turnstile. Glad we stopped off today Simon, a great piece of history. TFTC mvyrmnd.

Found on a family drive while the youngest member collected driving hours. The weather has certainly turned today. Quick find after the GPS settled down SL TNLN T4TC
A small days' caching with Bettyboo.
A very well kept country hall. We entered through the main gate, and only noticed the wooden turnstiles on the way out.
A nice stroll across the grounds to a very large cache in an obvious spot.
Thanks, Robmc.

Visited today with Robmc and dropped in one of my TBs to begin its journey through the caching world. Good luck!
I was on my past, heading for home, so I thought I would check out the hall and this new cache (no FTF to be had, a FTF hound had already been here a couple days ago).
Parked near the main gate and walked a short way and entered through a wonderful old wooden turn-style.
Since it was a very new cache I hadn't yet been loaded it on my GPSr, so I was using my smart phone, took a reading of distance and direction as I entered and started heading towards GZ. I reached the flag pole when I received a call and continued unassisted in the general direction of GZ while talking on the phone.
I knew I was looking for a good size cache but I hadn't taken note of it's rating.
As I was walking I noticed something through the fork of a tree, surely that couldn't be it way up there. Around the other side of the tree revealed a habitat nesting box and I decided that it must be genuine when a bit further over another nesting box was spotted.
As soon as I ended the call I checked the ratings and took another reading. My estimation of the distance I had to walk from the turn-style turn out pretty good and a quick search close by revealed a good size cache.
Great location and community Hall, it is obvious that this Hall is still well loved.
Thanks for the cache mvyrmnd.

# 3057. A cache at last, after a week, whoo hoo. 2nd TF no less. Parked to have a look for this one on the way to have a great ride on the Rail Trail this afternoon. The GPS was in silly mode and had me going all over the place. In the end I tried to scramble through the fence which was not a good idea (I knew I had put on too much weight). Thought I might have been stuck there until the next cacher came along. Eventually got the fence to release its grip and headed for GZ. Now that is a whopper. Took TB that seems to be doing laps in the North East. Thanks Simon - I always admire this little building when I drive past but have never stopped until today.
Wahoo FTF. In town doing Saturday stuff when I read the email for this and thought it would be logged by the time I got home but once home I checked again and it seemed to be still up for grabs. Headed out for a nice drive and a cache or two and decided to start with this one. Very nice size container and a great place to hide it. When we opened the log I was surprised but pleased to see a blank page. This is a very cute hall I can see why the locals are fond of it. sltnl stingray dinos and a TB t4tc
