Continuing on our adventure after attending the Alexandra Mega Event, we found ourselves spending a few days on Phillip Island. While we tried to take advantage of the many great places to see on the island, we were pre-occupied with trying to complete the qualifying requirements for a particular challenge cache we had signed in Ballarat prior to the Surf Coast Mega Event last year. It really does pay to check the finer details of a challenge cache before you decide to look for it We had thought you needed to have found 100 caches in Victoria, but it was only when we came to log it that we realised the 100 caches in Victoria had to have been placed by the same cache owner
Anyway, initially we thought we would complete the challenge by doing the Mt Disappointment caches, but then friends who knew we were heading to Phillip Island told us we would easily qualify for the challenge there, and they would be much more interesting caches Well they were quite interesting, and some of them were downright sneaky
In the end, we had an enjoyable couple of days exploring Phillip Island and finding a variety of cache hides, with some great walks along some of the beaches and other places
Thank you Gonefishen07 for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Two DNFs in a row and the rain starts. Not having much fun anymore. Thinking about it I probably should have believed the terrain rating more than where my phone was sending me.
I offered up my Uncle duties to the three kids for the day but they had plans so I threw the bike in the car to head down to the rail trail series again. I didn't see many people on the trail today but even better was the lack of flies. They really got to me last time I came here.
27 cache finds and 3 dnf's.
Not bad all in all. The weather was great and the exercise was much needed.
Time to finish off this section of the rail trail. No need for crying here, a quick find and back on the bike to the next one.
Thanks Gonefishen07

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches. I have got a nice streak going and hoping to let it run for as long as possible. I usually cache on my own but sometimes I will collect my nephew stinky bob and my brother stinky tom who both enjoy this hobby.
A big thanks goes out to all the cachers and cache owners without whom this lifestyle would not be possible.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

I tackled the last part of the Bass Rail Trail starting and finishing at Mc Garth Road. Another good cycling experience with plenty of caches to keep me amused the along the way. The ride back to the car was a nice downhill run. Cheers and TFTC
I am heading NE along the rail-trail. Thank you so much for this string of caches. I couldn't find some which I will aim to report on. It is a poor morning for caching with constant light rain - unpleasant for caching.
Started a new leg, where I drop geo-hubby off and then I head off to a pre-determined pick up spot. It is so great to be able to make consecutive finds, after all the "Wonthaggi Specials" we have encountering this weekend. TFTC
While out in the company of the McLookers we set out to get a start on the trail with bikes ready & roaring, plenty of water and snacks packed we were off. The sun belting down made for a hot ride but with sunscreen applied and our helmets for protection we enjoyed the trail and all caches on offer. Most caches were found with only a few DNF'S as we kept the pace up ...pedal, search, sign, pedal!
Thanks Gonefishen07 for your efforts put into this rail trail series, we had a ball.

I am not crying now but I was earlier when stepping high through the grass.
In the area on bikes with The Tritonz with the aim of completing the Rail Trail. The grass was very, very long in many places. Fortunately we did not see a snake...I am not sure how as it was a very snakey kind of day. Thanks GF07, it is a brilliant picturesque trail that gave us the opportunity to see another very pretty part of Victoria.

Steve and Erin out and about on our adventure day, decided to come back to Kilkunda and have a meander down the historic Bass coast rail trail and grab some caches while we are at it. TFTF )

All about the numbers today in the rain today, it was cold and wet but meant the track was nice and empty! This was 8 of 32 of the series signed off today. Tfts

Well this one didn't make me cry as I found it easily and was so happy to do so. Thanks for the cache.
Where having a great walk but Trial Bikes now on the track ... Just what we didn't need!!! Found the hide
Spending the day down at the Bass coast with little Ruverbug and muggle husband decided to pay this rail trail a visit, such a scenic area, and find a few caches thank you for this trail
Out for a ride with Mark9375 and 4bait. Quick grab and we were on our way. TFTC
Found @ 17:25 on the 23 April 2016 thanks for this cache Gonefishen07 tftc great caches the cows are still watching
Another nice cache as we peddled along the trail. Log signed and back again. Thanks
EF but this view to this one was beautiful we managed to get the perfect show casing this wonderful place. Tftc with geodude#74
Nice quick find with Lilmissgeo. After signing the log and replacing the cache, took a nice panoramic photo. Good view. TFTC!
We did a huge chunk of the rail today, so much work has gone into this, the variety of hides and types of containers. The weather was good to us, alothou very windy at times trying to blow us of our bikes. We enjoyed the ride and will continue to do some more tomorrow, Thanks for the hides. This one we found approximatly 12 mt out from GZ and the log was wet and mouldy, we stuck out sticker on the container but didnt have any paper to replace, so maintaince is needed.
Back today to complete this trail, in the comnpany of quiet1_au and GJMMelb. This time we had brought our bikes. Q found this cache quickly. TFTC
After just 2 hours sleep, JSando and I got up super early, with bikes and esky loaded and headed to Wonthaggi for the annual New Years event, with a plan to knock over at least a small piece of the rail trail around here. This was our eleventh find for the day. Many TFTC
After a (temporary) DNF at the last cache, we decided to continue on and have another go on the return journey. This one thankfully proved to be less troublesome and I soon had it in hand. TFTC
Container was very wet inside and log book saturated. Log probably needs replacing and something done with the container to prevent water getting in.
A magic day for a nice ride along this rail trail which we wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for this series. It was so nice that the I expected to see a snake or two lounging in the sun but we didn't see any all day.
Found this one pretty quickly but was very wet. Log almost looked moldy so didn't want to touch it so couldn't sign. TFTC.

Think they must have found the old container that I couldn't find. It has been replaced where it should be with a nice water right container.
#849 - My forth and final day down the coast today and I had decided last night that I would just do a few easy caches on my way back up North. As I drove past Kilcunda though, I ended up surprising myself and parking…
I still had half a rail trail to complete and a bike in the back! Even though I was extremely tired and sore from the last three days of intense caching, my mind was made up and well.. Once a Mountain Goat’s mind is made up, good luck changing it!
So off I rode, completing the second half of the rail trail. Even though the sun was out in full force today, there was no muggles to be seen! This was a huge bonus and sped up my ride considerably as I did need to be getting home!
By the time I hit the end of the rail trail, I had been able to put 45 smileys on caches and only had 7 DNF’s which was a good figure considering the rush I was in. Once again the high standard and variety of caches that awaited me blew me away. Such a well put together series that keeps you interested and always guessing!
Thank you again Gonefishin07 for the time and effort you have put into this series.

In Wonthaggi this weekend for a whole heap of geocaching! Hopefully going to hit 900 finds by Sunday evening.
Friday afternoon, wanted to get the rail trail from Anderson to Woolamai completed, and I did just that. About 35 finds (I think) in about 3 hours, so safe to say i'm pretty happy, a good start to the weekend!
Got this one just fine!

Found but it was aprox 8 metres from listed coordinates. It was full of water but log was in good condition.
What a great day to be meandering around our lovely country side with Sixy2Sue. Thanks for the extra excuse to get out and about.
We made the trip down from Cranbourne to Anderson to find all the caches between Woolamai Racecourse and Anderson, having already found 10 a week or so ago. Most caches are easily found although some care needs to be taken whilst walking through long grass for snakes.
This was an easy find, even preempting what the cache was going to be.

Another unique container. I spotted this one pretty quickly as I recognised the connection to a container a few caches earlier TFTC
We were staying in Korumburra for a couple of days with The Drovers with the main gaol of completing this rail trail and also hopefully picking up a few challenge caches.
Today started off windy and rainy but at least the rain held off long enough for us to do the first leg. On the plus side there were no muggles to worry about as we only passed one other person on the entire track.
We had a fantastic time finding some unusual containers and with only one DNF we can say what a ball we had today.
Many thanks Gonefishen07 for not only the trail but for all the work and effort that you have put into the hides.
We apologise for the generic log but are leaving a favourite point on each one to show our appreciation.

Met up with Team Crackers for 2 days, to tackle the Rail Trail and a few local caches.
With the threat of rain, we headed out on the bikes.
We found a good variety of hides, with the odd one being a little tricky.
This is a fantastic trail, and we award each one a favourite point.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Gonefishen07, for us and others to find.

Found by Mary & David at 1355. No problems here, and no crying either. Our thanks to Gonefishen07.
Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat, today was moving day.
We were moving closer to attend the Wonthaggi New Years Event. After setting up camp it was nearly 3pm but Mr Felix was keen to make a few finds. Mrs Felix dropped him at the end of the rail trail. By 5.45pm it was time to return to cook dinner so the Anchors were thrown and a pick up was set.
TFTC Looking forward to meeting other geocachers at the next Australian Geocaching Mega event

An awesome numbers run today with a plan to pass 4000 finds by the end of the year. Managed to find 32 all up which had left me with only 13 to go before the milestone cache.
This was one of many caches found today. Some impressive hides seen and this northern section of the bass rail trail now complete. Apologies for the generic logs
A surprise quick find. Log dry thanks to double bag.

We found this cache today at 4:35pm as number 39 of 60 on our Head for the Rails Southern Tour. As we gradually climbed up to Anderson, this part of the trail was our favourite. One because the views over Western Port Bay were a real treat and two, the fences each side meant that the next run of caches meant no more wading through the long seedy polleny grass. Got what we expected here. Thanks from D, HA, H & A B-A.
A beautiful day for a walk in the great outdoors. We set about walking the remaining section of the rail trail towards Anderson left unfinished by yesterday's weather. Apparently opening these caches with your mouth open helps stop the tears. Thanks for another fun find along the trail.
I found this cache walking along the rail trail with my family after we had to stop yesterday when the weather turned bad. Cool cache container. TFTC
Out on a hike today doing the bike trail with dog. Thank you for the day out on the effort with all the caches. Tftc
Out and about with Alansee doing some more of the Rail Trail. This weather was a lot better than at your recent event, which was the last time The Swaggies looked at this trail.

Found with The Swaggies on a beautiful day for a ride. It didn't, and we moved one more cache along this most enjoyable trail.
I had the day off and Trent from KTCvic also had the day off as he is now unemployed ( only for 3 days ) so we decided to go caching somewhere for the day. As these new caches came up over night we decided to come here and then on to The Rail trail from Anderson down to Woolamai, we had a great day chatting and wondering up in the bush here and down on to the rail trail. A big thank you to Leesa for picking us up at the end of the rail trail as we had to get back to Trent's son and pick him up from school, after picking him up we decided to go to the Cranbourne Botanic gardens and grab some caches there as well. Thanks Trent and Campbell for the company and thanks Gonefishen07

Knowing today I wouldn't be working starting a new job Monday, I asked Bounty Trackers what his thoughts on a day caching, which was answered in the affirmative. Was picked up around 9.30 and we set off towards a bunch of newly published caches in South Gippsland.
A bunch of caches were found with a lot of chatting, bush bashing and a good walk between Anderson and Woolamai. Thanks for the day Bounty Trackers had a blast, Gonefishen07 thanks for the lift back to Anderson.
I spotted the cache, but we waited for the muggles to pass before we grabbed and signed the cache. Wow one this big would make you cry!!
Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07!!!

Out on a caching trip from NZ. Rented some bikes from Cowes on the island and decided to have a cycle along the trail. Enjoyed the gentle grade and the different caches. Luckily for us we had no encounters with the wildlife depicted on the trail markers. TFTC
It didn't - Just ! Excuse the mainly generic logging. Down on a mission to ride the Bass Coast Rail Trail over a couple of days. Day 1 meant parking at Anderson's ParknRide but didn't realise that related to another type of ride!
Found! A quick find for me today. yes they do make me cry sometimes, but this hide didn't.
The day started for me at 7:25am & I finished at 5:29pm in Wonthaggi. I had the most enjoyable time seeing plenty along the way & enjoyed the variety of cache hides & containers. A brilliant effort and I thank the CO for the most enjoyable day out!

Found it after a while as my compass co-ords were taking me from one side to the other. Eventually decided to just check both sides and located it.
My plan today was for a big day of caching. I had to drive down to Inverloch for work. So i packed my bike into the car and was about to drive off when i found a flat tyre. Off to the shop to fix it and then 3 hours later i was back on the road down to the caches. I only got a few kms down the track before it became too dark to continue on. But thanks for all the caches i was able to find in the time. And i'll drop by here again when i next come down for work.
Its bikes on the trail today so we can pick up a bunch we've missed in the past for one reason or another. After I remembered how to change gears it was all downhill after that and I'm happy to say that we've finished this stretch of the trail now. No crying here...all happy TFTC
We were fortunate today to strike a day that had sunshine and a cooling breeze. We ventured along this well formed track with LazzaL and pet dog Lillie taking in the rural view to the wonderful coastline and making bee-lines for the creative caches. We would read about the next cache on the way and try and guess what item had been used to individualize and create a sense of fun in each hide. We loved it and enjoyed finding this cache. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for the enormous effort that has been put in to enhance of enjoyment of this caching experience.
A big day out on the rail trail today with fellow cachers Liz and Bruce and we managed to find a total of 79 well hidden and thoughtout caches. There was quite a variety of cache containers/hides, often the name of the cache giving a clue as to what to look for. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for hiding this cache.
My plan today was to do the 31 caches that were part of the 2013 extension. I would do them on foot with featherdown meeting me with the car in the middle bit. The weather was cool about 17 degrees with intermittent showers. I thoroughly enjoyed this section, probably paretly because I found them all, easily and I encountered just two other trail users which gve me a nice bit of morning solitude. All up they took about 1hr 45 with 2km of backtracking.
I thought the variety of hides showed great imagination, and every cache name gave me a hint of what to expect. Never a dull moment
Apologies for 31 generic logs through here.
Thanks muchly gonefishen

Melbourne parties Friday noon and returned Tuesday morning in Melbourne. I came here to make different trail of caches in the area. It was intense few days with my bike but very nice! I could find caches with superb camouflage, very good ideas from the cachers. This log will be the same for all caches that I made (sorry) But I want to congratulate in particular:
Nut bear & BorisB & Natasha for "Bay Trail" and "Red Hill Express" (Beautiful cover!)
The Three Amigos Geo for "The Pathway"
Gonefishen07 for the great "Rail Trail"
As well as other geocacher who I discovered several caches during these few days.
Thank you very much

Found on our "Making Memories" Tour of Mainland Australia.
Today we explored San Remo and surrounds using geocaching as our guide.
We found a total of 70 caches and this was one of them. Our 22nd cache of the day - No tears here, made a quick find.
As we progressed along the trail we were impressed by the variety of hides and the creative use of containers. Some we found quickly and others needed a little more investigation before they revealed themselves.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for taking the time to place and maintain these caches for our enjoyment. We really appreciate the effort gone into these creative and inventive hides. A great days caching and one we will remember.

Suscoe's second day on the Island and this morning was set aside for some more of the Rail Trail.
This was find number four of what ended being 25 finds for the day both here and on the island
We parked at Anderson and headed north east and picked up where we had stopped last evening.
Again was had a terrific time finding these caches, such a variety and some tricky hides to go with them.
The views across to the Bay were simply stunning and this morning provided a clearer sky to admire things by.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for providing us with these caches and a morning of enjoyment out along the trail. It was not hard to imagine the sound of a steam engine coming along maybe driven by Mr. S's grandfather who was based at Wonthaggi for a number of years driving trains.
No tears here, they were all shed at the Bison cache!!!!!!!

I was stayng in San Remo on a holiday from Qld and this trail grabbed my attention so I was keen to follow the trail if possible. The afternoon was relatively quiet and the reat of the family were happy enough to be inside out of the heat.
Bee2 dropped me off at Woolamai at 430pm with a promise to come back and get me when I called and hopefully not too late. One foot after the other. I found all but two of the caches along the trail and had a really great afternoon watching the scenery pass slowly and tackling the various challenging hides.
Thanks for the trail Gonefishen07
