Quick find. As others have said though pity the area has been used as a dump. Thank you.
Quick find thank you. What a shame its become a rubbish dump for some. Interesting history. Thanks for brining our attention to it.
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT then over the top of WA to Perth.Interesting detours to Thursday Island, Mabuiag Island, Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Hells Gate, Nhulunbuy, Wadeye, Litchfield Nat Park, Wyndham and the Gibb River Road.TFTC.An interesting couple of bunkers.
Seems that this road is a little narrower than sat image suggests. Still, the van got through, track may even have widened now, poor van! Once past the rubbish the cache was quickly located in good order. An explore, an echo inside, then the longer clearer track back out past the other bunker. Super interesting bunkers.
Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western WA via Kalgoorlie, Wiluna and Marble Bar. After camping out at Shay Gap we headed to the coast and up to our northern-most target cache before returning south towards Port Hedland, finding caches along the way. Thanks for the cache Chan 5456!
Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. We camped at Shay Gap then continued to make our way north, finding a few caches of interest along the way. After travelling up the highway to find the old Eighty Mile Beach cache, we headed back towards Port Hedland, taking a short detour to this cache. Some interesting history here. Thanks Saltie for the cache.
Woe.. very interesting spot. Glad we stopped. Cache quickly found and grabbed some nice sunset photos while we are here. Tftc
Travelling with richlink north to Darwin, then south again down the middle. Today is our last day in Port Hedland, so we have wandered a little further afield enjoying this stunning, arid land.
Interesting bunkers, but what a dump. It seems to be the area to go if you want to get rid of anything. Nice easy cache find though, thanks Chan5456.

Very Interesting location, shame about all the rubbish! Quick find when at GZ! Cache holding up well! Easy access for all! Found with Minergal TFTC
With the smell of death in the air, I walked along the roof as far as I thought safe, stopping when the rusty holes appeared. Then I descended and looked around. A DNF for me.
Ooh tough one but love it! Great to see the old bunkers too, never knew they existed!
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australia and down the coast of W.A. I hope to grab a few caches along the way.
Wandered in through the spinifix and loved exploring the area. Made this find a little more difficult than needed. Loved the area.
Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can enjoy finding it.

Quick find. PP1 is concerned over getting charged excess on the hire car insurance. TFTC Chan 5456
Had an RDO today, so decided to hire a car and venture north from Hedland to see what I could find.
A really interesting piece of history .. well worth placing a cache here. I found it half buried in the dirt and possibly not how it was originally hidden, but i placed it back as found behind the front wall. There are just no covering.

On an Adventure North. We have hitched the caravan are are intending to find some sunshine and warm weather.
Travelling along Hwy 94 and Hwy 1, our destination is Broome, via Karijini NP, then the trip home is along the coast sampling the towns we have yet to visit.
Of course along the way we will be getting a cache of two ......... and lots more.
Got it

Thanks Saltie for bringing me to this location and taking the time to hide and maintain this cache. I found the cache at 10:27:00. This was my Find 26 for today out of a Total number of 50 Finds and 4 DNF for for this Caching Outing. The cache was found in Good Condition and I signed the log and returned the cache as I found it.
This find brings my total number of Finds to 5380.
Finally out of Marble Bar after being flooded in for a week, now to head home and grab some caches as we go. This was our starting point for this trip back to Baldivis, we parked a few hundred metres away on the other road on made our way to go on foot. We spotted the caches as we approached and soon had taken care of signing duties. We returned your cache as we had found it. It’s always good to do a welfare check on one that hasn’t been found for awhile, happy to say this one is holding up well. Had a quick look around and then back to the car with journey ahead. TFTC Chan 5456.
Heading home with axell33 after visiting family in Marble Bar, we have had an extended adventure with our trip going from 6 days to 13 days after being rained in from storms and unable to get out across the rivers. So after our goodbyes, this was our first cache stop for the long drive home! Walked over the top of the structure to gz, an interesting piece of history here. A nice quick find and all well here. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Baldivis.
Another quick find and great place of history. Pity about the 1/2 butchered cow in the middle of the track 50m from gz....tftc
Took nothing but left a bubble wand! Not an easy find. Check the hint if you’re stuck TFTC
We digged the cannister out of the sand and put it back to the place, we think it belonged.

Great cache, it's been vandalised and the area has been ,made a mess of but we moved the cache closer to the GPS and added a little shop for whoever might like some mini shopping on their journey lol.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving from Port Hedland to Broome.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'Chan 5456' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Blast Works' and the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

Wow, interesting place. Looks like copper stripping has been taken place around these bunkers tftc
Another interesting bit of local history that we wouldn't have know about if not for this cache. Thanks Chan 5456
These numbers were amazing. The kids quickly located and signed the cache. We had a bit of a look around before heading off in search of more caches.
Locals were squatting at the 2nd bunker, but they weren’t bothered about me looking for a geocache, it’s still there, same place, pretty cool bit of history
What a fabulous location. I had no idea these were here, and so close to the main highway. I also get to cross off another LGA from my list, bonus I left a pathtag for the next finder. Thanks so much for the Geo
We love visiting places like this and had a bit of fun wandering around. Didn't find anything other than a geocache. It was not covered well but is better hidden now as it was meant to be. Thanks for bringing us here. Fave point.
Thanks for bringing us here, interesting structure! Lid if cache is difficult to get off!

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 20. After Broome I continued South via Port Hedland to a riverside roadside stop at Yule River. Lots of Driving today.
The things that make up a mining community never cease to surprise me. At least they have left the old sheds to show what came before. No problems with the cache here.
Thanks.

Followed the quarry road and around to the back of the fenced yard. Walked 120m through scrub not realising we had taken the wrong track.
You can avoid scrub walking. So definitely look for the other track that drives right up to the bunker.

Had an early finish so went caching, have been meaning to grab these ones for a while TFTC
After camping at De Gray River free camp last night we were heading to Dampier caching along the aim and thought that we would drop into Port Headland to see how it has changed since our last visit.
We didn't read the cache page properly on this one and missed the first turn in so went to take the second one which only took us to a currently used explosive storage yard so back out and then third time lucky for us we found the right road.
Obviously since the cache was placed things have changed as the bunker with no cache had no doors just a mound of dirt in front of it and is now being slow filled with rubbish from what looks like parties happening in there. Then heading to the next one there was rubbish strewn all over the place, looks like people having taken to use this as the local tip which is a real shame in such a historical area. The second bunker has also had it's door pushed in, we didn't look inside that one, we were more interested in finding the cache which was happily found right where the GPSr was pointing and our name has now been added to the log.
Many thanks Chan 5456 for the cache and for showing us this historic site.

I remember exploring this site on a previous trip several years ago and was interested to see if there was any changes. The entrances have been blocked off since my last visit, but it still appears to be being used as a dump - pity! And what appears to be an explosives dump in front is new. I found the cache at 13:20 this afternoon. TNLNSL TFTC Chan 5456
Day six of Barnzy12 and Cravo10 adventure to the Northwest of WA, filling out boots with LGAs, rare DT, old caches, and good old fashioned red dirt!
Today we travelled from Karratha to Port Hedland via Cossack, Roebourne, Whim Creek, south hedland and various other detours along the way.
We started the day retracing our steps from the night before going out to Roebourne before turning off to Cossack to complete the three awesome multis out that way and a few other caches before turning back to Roebourne to continue towards Hedland.
We continued along the highway collecting all bar one of the smileys along the way, which was a DNF and one was unable to be reached in our 4wd. We pulled into whim creek, just to check out the pub, ended up having a beer whilst there, and a quick game of pool, we even had a national celebrity turn up in the form of Pauline Hanson and her entourage who had stopped in to get a drink and pose for photos with locals, which was most surprising.
We continued into Port Hedland and really hit our straps here collecting urban cache after urban cache making up bucket loads of time that we lost with one cacher enjoying a snooze in this morning!
Huge day again with 25 plus caches reeled in and another LGA picked up along with some older caches too! Thanks to the local COs we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly today!

Such a shame to see this place become a dumping ground. Cache was in good order. We wondered if it would be disturbed as it appears sand has been pushed up to the bunker doors recently. All is well, and there was a lovely dead animal here when we visited haha!
Another smiley added here today on a 5 week Pilbara and Kimberley break, a nice quick find TFTC
A quick find today after driving in (with the caravan as well). Fooled at first but found the real container after moment. SL and replaced. Thanks to Chan5465 for the cache.

Good hunt at GZ to no find, definitely need long pants for this hunt!
Third cache for the day and the second didnt find, not doing too well here. Re-read the logs to ascertain correct location but alas another ellusive one. When we arrived it was unfortunate that we caught some illegal dumpers in the act, dumping industrial rubbish. Sad thing is that they are a local business, so no doubt some words will be had with certain people.

Visited and the cache is missing as there has been some earth works.
There had been reports of heaps of rubbish and probably as a result the magazines have now been blocked off with piles of dirt and the attraction of visiting here has been significantly diminished.
I am disabling the cache with a chance to review if I can locate the cache nearby so you all can see this historic site.

It looks like the shire has back filled the entrance with dirt. The cache was just sitting on the dirt. I have placed in behind concrete wing wall if you want to rehide mate. Still trinkets in there though.
Didn't find as about 6 carloads of backpackers are squatting there and making a huge mess....
When I approached GZ in the car there was already two less than nice looking cars present so I was a bit hesitant and then when I got closer I could see that some backpackers or someone had set up camp inside the bunker so I passed this one up and kept going.
Arrived mid sunday afternoon. Have to be honest, the place is a tip, bottles, cans, rubbish everywhere. Looks like it is the regular haunt for drinking sessions by the less fortunate. My phone app was inticating the cahe was behind a pile of " rubish" Didn't like the idea of rumaging thru this detritus, so passed this cache in.
Mr Bunyip.

Second find for the day. The ferals loved hearing the echos, but we were all pretty grossed out by the amount of rubbish. Awesome place we never would have been to if it wasn't for this cache. TFTC!
