Switzerland is divided into 26 cantons. Welcome signs as they can be found in the US are very rare.
However, here is a sign, which marks the border between the cantons of Zurich and Aargau.
The sign symbolizes the flag of the canton Aargau, depicted on the third image. The flag was introduced in the year 1803. The waves stand for the river Aare, which also gave the canton Aargau it's name. The three stars stand for the three districts, which founded the canton.
Since 1963 the three stars are not arranged vertically anymore (see also image #3).
The two pictures were taken on 3:10 pm local time.
Thanks for this interesting cache with a wide variety of nice pictures!
Best regards, PicoKnirps (Switzerland)

We found this stateline sign at the top of the Newfound Gap along highway 441 cutting through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park from Tennessee to North Carolina. The GPSr is in both pictures, my left hand, but I guess the dark blue gloves and black rubber bumper on the front of the Venture make it difficult to see in the picture, but it's there nonetheless. Thanks for the find!! Happy caching!!

18-Dec-05
CT/NY Line. Note the mountains. I love it here.

17-Dec-05
This is a "THE STATE OF ILLINOIS WELCOMES YOU" sign that is on the I-74 bridge, which crosses over the Mississippi River from Bettendorf, Iowa to Moline, Illinois. It was tricky getting both the sign and my GPSr in the same photo, but I promise that's the corner of my Garmin GPSMap 60C in the second picture! Thanks for the cache! ~ozarksjim - Nixa, Missouri

I was making my way to New Hampshire, so I have passed several state borders. I was surprised that no one logged the sign on the NJ-PA border along the NJ turnpike. This sign, Welcoming us to New Jersey, sits inland a little bit on the NJ side of the Delaware River.

26-Nov-05
This is the sign welcoming you to Iowa. It is located in the middle of Omaha Nebraska. Through some strange river border issues Iowa actually protrudes into Nebraska.

#297, I95 South - Delaware/Maryland

Several days or weeks ago a request was put forth for a simultaneous acheivement of Geocaching milestones, as well as the companionship of the road and friends. Our goal: THE APE Cache, Maryland, and whatever adventure we could find along the way. Brywalker, 1NatureMom, CTKayak, and I set off prior to sunrise - well, most of us set sail together, to be joined *later* by the other Razz Off we went, enjoying new conversation, getting to know one another, and an awesome lack of sing-a-longs Red Face Cache to cache, with a shady transmission Twisted, and a constant shift of seating arrangements, we made our way down the I95 corridor. As the day drove on, we discovered our boundaries, or lack thereof, with one another, and managed to grab a bunch of finds along the way. All in all, 726 miles, 6 states, many beers(etc.), a lot of caffeine, a meal or two, a couple of shared surprises and secrets Red FaceTwistedWinkBig GrinSurprised[8)][^], an amazing 22 hours later, I found myself battling Sleep Monster in an attempt to set my alarm clock for work 2 hours later [|)][|)][|)] I hear I wasn't alone! Ultimately, the real question is *when* do we get to do it again? [?] Thank you, my friends, for what turned out to be a very pleasurable and memorable road trip!

This is our 150th cache. And a good one for that too.

Here you can see the boarder from Germany to Poland on the island of Usedom, in the city of Ahlbeck.

This is a good cache for no. 150 as my family came from Poland and were refugees during WW2. For a long time it was not possible to visit Poland and than only under very many restrictions. Since a few years we can pass the boarder again and now Poland even joined the European Union.

Greetings
Christine, Julian and Shane.

The people at the CVS One-Hour Photo booth must think we are REALLY thrilled to be entering Pennsylvania, because this is the 3rd or 4th time I had a photo of a "Welcome to PA" sign developed there. Unfortunately, they were all signs that had been logged by other cachers. This time, we found one that no one has logged yet, but the GPSr is right in the way! Well, the cache description DOES say that "if there is no GPS in the shot, your log will be deleted," so I guess we've got that angle covered! This sign is located at the border between PA and NY, on Route 167. As you can see from the "Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful" sign in the background, this is the sign welcoming drivers into Pennsylvania. TFTC, it was a doozy!

06-Nov-05

The Lincoln Tunnel.
The Lincoln Tunnel hs three tubes. Each one has two New Jersey/New York signs. This is one of them: In the southern tunnel.
I've been trying to log this one for months! It's hard to take pictures while the car is in motion. We finally hit a traffic jam, and here are the pics.

15-Oct-05
This sign is on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester County, NY as it crosses the NY/CT border into Fairfield County. The name of the highway changes to the Merritt Parkway once in the state of Connecticut.

On the other side of the highway is a Welcome to New York sign. I thought about taking that photo to but decided to be nice and leave it for another cacher to claim; as there aren't too many "border" signs left unclaimed for this cache in the greater New York metro area.

14-Oct-05
We have found this sign on the Czech/German border.

We took a little road trip today and found caches in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska, before heading back home. A long but fun day.

We found a couple of state border signs that were on back roads and probably hadn't been logged before, but we chose this one since we recently became CO residents. This is on hwy 71, leaving Nebraska and entering Colorful Colorado... specifically Weld County... not too far from the middle of nowhere!

This sign was found on our way from Vermont into New Hampshire, the Granite State. We were on Hwy 9 and had just crossed the Connecticutt River. This is where my 6 state NE caching trip may have been catching up with me. I could have sworn this sign said "Welcome to Massachusetts", obviously I didn't know what state I was in - at that point. I really enjoyed our trip across New Hampshire to return to Portsmouth - so I'm glad I wasn't in Mass.

02-Oct-05
