Logs
All attendances have been logged and all trackables have now moved on. Time to close this one.
Groundspeak allows cachers to log this CITO event for up to 14 days post the event to earn the souvenir. There are still 3 trackables logged into the event that have not been claimed - I know they were picked up because there were none left in the icecream bucket that I took home.
I am keeping an eye on the event to see that all attendees have logged it and (I hope) that all trackables are removed. When sufficient time has elapsed I will archive.

I attended this event with hccatcher11415 and allrounder – they signed my name on the log as geo-munchkin.
I hope you don’t mind but, now that I have an account of my own, I’m backlogging these caches under my new name!
It was fun to clean up the area with Gabby and Bella - we picked up lots of rubbish. It was also fun to kick allrounder's footy around as well!
Thank you for organising the event!

What a great event! Haven't been to a CITO in a while, so it was nice to have one in Canberra again. Nice to mingle with all the familiar faces and chat with some new ones. Cachers are such great people to talk to. A little PT trading too as well as discovering a lot of TBs. Nice to give back to our environment like this, managed to get one bag full as well as a massive bit of cardboard. Loved listening to the stories of what others got too. Also, I was lucky to get FTF and a TB for the event, YAY; thank you very much GLISS!! A fantastic event for the weekend. TFTE GLISS, you did a great job at your first event!
Well, that was a bit of fun (if cleaning up the detritus of human existence can ever be considered 'fun'). I arrived slightly early for the official start, and stood for a while wondering if the event had been 'camo'd' by a string of flags before being intercepted by GLISS! and steered in the right direction. After signing the log I wandered off with Tealby to see if the tree did indeed fit, with enough time to score a find on a new Munzee (helped that it was being held in the owner's hand at the time) before collecting my bag and glove and embarking on the Peninsula purification process.
I was a little surprised by how little rubbish I managed to collect - I was struggling to fill even a single bag, which either spoke of a growing concern for the environment in the general population, or of TAMS' efforts in keeping the park presentable. What there was was of the usual fare - fast food fall-out, broken glass, cigarette butts, prophylactic packaging and small coloured pieces of rubber that I seriously hoped were expired balloons.
Duty done, I slipped away with Justin-2001 to pay a visit to Hal and to rock the view before heading home. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to make it to the Markets before closing, otherwise I'd have to take out a second mortgage to buy lunch from the Café again.
Thanks for organizing the CITO GLISS!- it was great to catch up with familiar faces, meet new ones, and give something back to the environment. If anyone's still feeling enthusiastic, my backyard could do with a mow!

Attended with hccatcher11415 and the geo-munchkin after the Jets won their opening match of the ACT Women's AFL season.
Collected a wide range of rubbish with Bella and Gabby of AlanBegado while fending off the swans.

Having spent the last ten days in Canberra as part of our trip around Australia, we have been very impressed with all the green open spaces and variety of geocaches located here. So we were happy to join the CITO event here and do our bit for the environment. We hoped it would be our 2000th geocache in Australia, but it looks like it is our 1999th! Thanks for organising this event.
After collecting the geo-munchkin on her return from Sydney, we headed out to the peninsula to find a cache or two before the start but only had time for one.
After collecting out rubbish bags from GLISS!, allrounder, the geo-munchkin and I were off. We ended up with a couple of extras after the geo-munchkin made friends with Gabby and Bella from AlanBegado.
The geo-munchkin told me she had a great time and it was much better then she thought.
I discovered a few of the TBs while there. Thanks for organising the event GLISS!, well done!

Our first CITO event! And excellent it was too. Great to wander around and pick up rubbish. Overall it did not seem too bad but there was some bottles near the edge that would never have been found otherwise. Thanks GLISS! for the organisation.
Stopped by with W6R after a bit of shopping. My first time to one of these events. Took a while to fill my bag with rubbish, it was pretty clean where I was looking.
Arrived a little bit early, so I could find the nearby caches first ... just to make sure I got my official 100th while here for that - found 2 before this started - number 99 and 100
... So this is Geocaching 101? - lol
Good event, great turnout ... pity about all the rubbish some grotty people drop/leave on the ground/etc.
went looking for one other cache just before the start time, but didn't find it in the 2 minutes I had spare ... Or in the other 3 or 4 minutes I looked - so was a few minutes late signing in ... but there was a lot of rubbish near that cache, so I went in that direction to collect - seems a few others had the same idea though, but ended up still finding what had been missed among blackberries and at the shoreline and under bushes ... and I found the elusive cache on my way back past with the bag of rubbish at the end - lol
TFTC - well organised, and well attended, and fun as well!
Brought a TB for a visit, and discovered a few others ... Possibly missed some too ...

What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The weather was perfect, after we collected our bag and gloves we headed out in search of some rubbish. Was a slow start which could be seen as a good thing. Once we reached the water line we started to see some rubbish caught in the blackberries. Seems you can't avoid them in Canberra. Nothing much of interest, a green windcheater. Soon we had a full bag and the 30 minutes was up. We returned to the meeting point to see the pile of rubbish growing. Great job by all and it was good to catch up with the familiar fellow cachers and meet some new interesting characters.

Thank you GLISS for a well planned and well organised event. Reading the logs below everyone sounded like they enjoyed the event and the location. This does not surprise me after gradually getting to meet the members of the local geocaching community, they are friendly lot and enjoy any excuse to get togehter. Nice to meet vombatus2 finally.
GLISS you must be very pleased with the attendance and the result.
MajuriHathi and I teamed up and went for a walk, chat and a collection of rubbish. The main arena was very clean and tidy, like others have indicated. Sadly once we got close to the shoreline the volume of rubbish increased in amongst blackberries. As for the medical breathing apparatus I cannot claim credit for that discovery, the credit for that find must go to MH.
Many thanks for organising this event and I am looking forward to May the Fourth.

1981. Great to catch up with some familiar faces and some new ones. After grabbing my bag it was off to fill it up. We ran into some muggles that were impressed by our efforts, given it wasn't even clean up Australia day. I wrestled with more blackberries than a TE cache, but managed to fill my bag.
Thanks GLISS! for organising the event and the great weather.

Was delighted to be a part of this really enjoyable and well arranged event, thanks Gliss. As Wombat has logged we teamed up and once at the south eastern shore edge I soon tore my bag and glove on those blessed blackberries so we were operating with one bag. We quickly filled it with typical party items including the already referred home made medical breathing device.
It was great to speak with some really experienced cachers and share our interests as all the bags were collated.
Thanks for bringing us together on this really beautiful afternoon. Well done Gliss!
Cheers

Thanks GLISS for organising this.
Took the opportunity to do a bit of caching with GeoDaughter (Bronnie1990) before the event.
Managed to find a stereotypical caching trail down to the water's edge. No caches, but there was a lot of rubbish.
Good to meet up with everyone as well.

The park is very busy today - gorgeous weather. I'm at one of the picnic benches close to the co-ords wearing an akubra. See you soon.

A lovely walk around the park, meeting lots of new faces, and some old friends as well. Thanks for the event Gliss!
On the surface all looked spick n span, but a little poking around the shoreline uncovered a very full bag of waste. Collectively I think we made a big difference, and uncovered some unusual items too! Thanks for organising Gliss.
Arrived at Black Mt ready to collect heaps of rubbish but not a lot to be found. Which makes me proud to be Canberran and live in this beautiful city. Nice to talk to lots of you again. Great to catch up and swap TBs and pathtags. Hope to see you all again on 4/5. TFTE Gliss!
6931. [green]So I found an old cassette player - and then a bright yellow cassette that some(Tealby)body managed to miss. Also found the outer cover of a plastic weight which was really unexpected. Got back with my second bag as things were wrapping up. [/green]
[blue]Thanks for the cache GLISS! and the difference made. [/blue]

It was great to be able to help clean up Australia and make our caching grounds cleaner and safer. After collecting our bag we commenced looking for rubbish. We mostly picked up smaller items, lots of cigarette butts, balloon bits and bottle tops. We also were able to remove some hazardous items including broken glass and a pair of scissors located near the play equipment. Miss Stormcatcher was even lucky enough find abandoned money There was a few strange looks from onlookers but all the hard work by the caching community will benefit all who use the park. Thanks GLISS for organising the event.
Joined in the fun, collected over one bag full, of some strange stuff. Nice to meet the Gliss team, and everyone else too. Well done on organising the event.
A great day for an event, I missed most of the happenings at the end but overall was able to collect about 2 bags and a half of rubbish. Some interesting finds of the day for me included; half a fishing rod, a WHOLE bag of beer bottles and boxes behind a tree and a small tower of bottle caps all picked up. Glad we could make a difference today, happy we could make a difference! TFTE GLISS!
Thanks everyone for your assistance in making this event a success. We filled a wheelie bin plus 3 large black garbage bags.
When I work out how to get the photos off my tablet and on to the computer, I will edit this log.
Most "interesting finds" award is shared by LuckyL10n & Wombat for the hand crafted medicinal/recreational purposes container and "G" from GLISS! for the collection of multiple brassieres.
As always at these events, it was great to see familiar faces, put faces to familiar names and also to welcome newbies.
FYI - There were 29 individuals listed on the TAMS volunteers sheets and 28 on the GC event logs.
A special thank-you to Jasmine Foxlee & Shelley Swaine from TAMS for their guidance and support. If anyone if planning a similar event in the future, I recommend getting in touch with Jasmine - she was very helpful.

Thanks GLISS for organising this event! As Tealby said, to glance at the peninsula, it looked pretty good, but on closer inspection with gloves on and a bag in hand, there was rubbish everywhere. I picked up waaaay too many colourful balloon bits, I'm guessing leftovers from a serious water fight and/or party. Managed to almost fill a bag in the area I cleaned up. Feels good to make a difference! Enjoyed catching up with some others I only see at events too.
Thanks GLISS!
Thanks GLISS!
Yay! That was a lovely event!
Filled up two bags full of broken tiles, that someone had dumped near a carpark. Had a car full of people just watching me..and laughing (presumably at each other, but you'd never be too sure!).
They were also the people that had left most of their rubbish on the ground. Which i filled my third bag with!
I'm sure we've helped quite a bit, this afternoon. Job well done.

#463 - 15:30; TFTE GLISS! and also for the 2TF GC. I will hook it on my GPSr and they can travel together from here on. It was nice to clean up and then to catch up with some old and new faces, having met some of those present at the recent Puzzles and Coffee evening. Was also nice to grab a few caches too. Congratulations on a well organised and supported event.
We'll be there! I love this area so it will be nice to be part of the clean up. Thanks Gliss!
We are two geocachers from the UK who are touring Australia and are currently in Canberra. We will attend the CITO event this afternoon.

Team AlanBegado intend to attend - Gabby wants to swap some of her new pathtags
I am hoping to attend ... but can't be 100% sure about that, or anything, at the moment ... my life is a bit upside down/inside out, due to something unforseen causing me to have to re-organise my whole life ... have not even found found any caches lately (although I did look for one, because I was in Cicic for something and realised I was right next to where I had looked when I didn't find it last time ... so I had another look ... and didn't find it again - lol)
... Hmmmm - I wonder if attending this event counts as a "find" ? ... If I find 4 more between now and then, it will be my 100th (but if I actually just happen to find time to find more than 4 ... Then I guess one of those will

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will atend $$$$$$$$$$
Sounds great, it'll only be my second CITO event - and my first in daylight!
I'll be there, unless something goes horribly wrong somewhere - and I'll try to pick up the 3 in the area still on my unfound list as well.

Sounds great, esp if the weather is good. Black Mt Peninsula on a sunny autumn afternoon is gorgeous. Looking forward to it.
FTWA! Will be there to help clean up the environment. Thanks GLISS, well done on organising your first event!
