The road to hell is advertised as being straight and easy, and my map showed an easy route. This morning, however, the tracks twisted and got muddy and a couple of times I ended up walking in exactly the wrong direction before I cut through some wet grass and stumbled onto a better track.
A dawn-light walk past the wallabies later and I was at the mouth of the abyss. I had been warned many times of the quick routes to the afterlife scattered about the area but this was the first one I got to see close up.
I started searching, but I had my early morning muggle eyes on. It took quite a bit of peering to spot what I was looking for. The excitement of the find was followed by a suspicion, which turned out to be true, that the hungry maws had swallowed up the cache!
Thanks for bringing me to a part of Daylesford that I wouldn't have seen otherwise Stooy!

This one lived up to its name . As I stared into the abyss I was thinking I never want to pass through the gates of hell, gnashing my teeth. The whole concept was very creative, stooy and therefore has earned a favourite from us. Thanks stooy
# 3421. Spending a few days in Daylesford with Robmc and today we did a few caches in town.
This was our last find for the day and therefore the last of a few stooy caches too. We drove a few different ways before being stopped in our tracks and when we finally found a spot to park we walked and walked uphill before getting to GZ and noting a couple of good driving tracks going past. Damn. Now for the next part of the challenge - to find the cache. I had all but given up when I spied what I needed to spy and very soon we were rejoicing and doing a happy dance. Success, whoo hoo. Took Nothing, Left a Pathtag.

A lazy day in Daylesford just collecting a few new caches with Bettyboo3747.
We struggled to find a way into this cache, not having reasonable maps of the area.
After playing in the mud for a while, we parked and walked (only to find a reasonable road in!)
If there is a Hell, this would be a good representation of it - blackberries and brambles everywhere! Stuff this fire stuff, that is my idea of Hell!
We stomped as much as we could until BB had some inspiration. Nifty hide.
Thanks, Robmc.

We had seen this one on the map when we decided to cache Daylesford and wondered what it was about. As we drove in to the area, suddenly a bit more sense was made, but it wasn't until we arrived at GZ that it all clicked into place. After a short search I got up close and personal with the abyss and the hide was made. A favourite from me. Thanks for the cache.
I quite liked this cache. Looking for it presented no probems for me although it may for some. Persistence won out and hell had to give up its treasure once more.
We came to hell, gazed into the abyss and lived to tell the tale!
I have a funny feeling this cache will only get harder as the ravishes of vegetation make their mark.
It is true, you can make this one a driveby.
Took the tb.
Thanks stooy

The only cache I found today and I only got out of the car as feathertop claimed that the cache was harder to find than expected. Of course the find was found almost immediately afterwards.
Such a long ways down too.
Great hide!

What the hell!!!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I saw this new cache was on my way today. A quick stop at a traditional I was thinking. You are an evil man Stooy
I passed through the gateway to hell, just, and I managed to return. I wish I could say more but I don't want to spoil the experience for anyone else. In hindsight only, I can say I loved it and it gets a favourite point from me. Also left a TB for the second to do it
