Following a bit of a trail today down the Old Beech Forest Road. GPS got us to the spot and a telltale little collection of rocks, but alas after an extensive search to and fro, nothing came to hand. Thanks anyway H_3 for the chance.

Found by The Empire + HThe road stretched out before us like a ribbon of asphalt, winding its way through lush rainforests and alongside the rugged coastline. The air was crisp and invigorating, filled with the salty scent of the ocean. The winding road led us through dense eucalyptus forests, the towering trees creating a serene canopy overhead. Shafts of sunlight filtered through the leaves, dappling the road ahead. It was as if we were driving through a natural cathedral. Our car wound its way through the Otway Ranges, and the landscape transformed into a temperate rainforest. Ancient ferns lined the road, their fronds glistening with dew. The air was thick with the earthy scent of wet soil and the gentle hum of cicadas.A couple of quick caches here in town and a toilet stop, than back on the road. Thanks for the cache H_3.- M

Fount it. Nice place to visit while chasing waterfalls. TFTC

23-Sep-23
We had the playground to ourselves today so the kids made good use of it while Dad zeroed in on the hide. Blended in well today but fortunately we had an idea of what to look for. TFTC

Found by Aussie Train Driver 01/07/2023, find number 1696.
Final find for today in the last light of day. There was a fair bit of rain falling when we arrived so I was grateful for the hint allowing me to make a quick find. I was hoping to check out the nearby Balloon Loop but we ran out of time - maybe next time!
TFTC!

AusFox; and I had journeyed down to the Otways on a hunt for a first to find at the California Redwoods and after driving so far for a cache we had to grab a few extras while we were in the area.
AusFox; had already found this one so he stayed in the car leaving me to hunt on my own. I took a wide birth of the playground with a couple of kids playing with their parents cooking at the BBQ. I tried to inconspicuous looking at and photographing the nearby plaque.
At GZ it only took a quick scratch around and I had my prize in hand.
Thank you H_3 for the hide.

Great spot for a stop going back to Gellibrand, been to Redwood Forest which was amazing and needed to do a few caches of course.

27-Dec-22
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Looked all over the garden but no luck

24-Dec-21
All quiet it seemed in town today, with the occasional car. I do wonder how often people would leave to go places such as Geelong, or whether Colac is the furthest they'd travel. It's a beautiful location.

19-Dec-21
Cool hiding spot.
We found it!

Found this cache on our tour of the west coast of Vic. A local was mowing nearby and so I had to use some stealth so we were not spotted. Plenty of decoy rocks about but soon spotted the correct one.
Thanks for placing this cache H_3

10-Oct-19
My heart sank on reading the name of this cache as I imagined a magnetic micro on an old train. But no, a wooden train and the cache nearby with a few nice geotrails. TFTC H_3. Found 10/10/19 3:04 pm. Cache 1773 for us.

15-Sep-19
Took us a while to spot it after turning over a few rocks in the garden bed. Nice stop here on the way to Melba Gully. Interesting history with pictures in the nearby amenities building. TFTC.

What a day! Visited the nearby Redwood Forest (my second visit to a Redwood forest in 4 days!), then decided I needed a cache in Beech Forest to continue the tree theme... and not only did I find a cache but a Monkey Puzzle tree as well! It's a good thing I didn't have a shovel with me or I'd have tried to take it home!
TFTC, H_3 - favourite point for the Araucaria araucana!

10-Feb-19
Childrens' play time kept us from searching too hard here so no find for us today.

19-Jan-19
Upon arrival n0w0rries and I spied a muggle family or two occupying the BBQ, play area and general surrounds. Two grown men scrounging around the garden bed isn't suspicious is it Wink? I'm just glad that the cache hadn't been put in the train in the playground. That would have been an impossible task given the family nearby.
Seeing as how I was now targeting 25+ for the day and getting fairly close, cache blindness had kicked in and n0w0rries made the find here.

19-Jan-19
The smell of lunch cooking on the nearby bbq, a family sitting at the picnic table and a couple of kids in the playground but fortunately we are not at all suspicious looking characters.
Our short search was interspersed with photos taken of the plaque.
Yet another find for leafotwind and myself as I gear up for an imminent milestone, just down the road.
Thank you for placing caches to make this possible H_3.

Sometimes I think I’m going a little loco. We might be lost. TFTC
A trip east to Parkville 2018 had us stopping on the way to collect a few caches and again stopping on the way home. Well that’s what cachers do when they head to a mega don’t they.

Staying down at Lavers Hill for the Glow Worm event. Spent the day walking to waterfalls. Some had caches some not.
Totaled 4 waterfalls and one cascade, all flowing very well.
Had a look at the replica loco in the playground on the way to the cache - very cute.
Thanks, Robmc.

06-Oct-18
Stayed at Colac for the weekend and before I came up I decided to do the Old Beechy rail trail and end up at Lavers Hill for the Glow Worms.
The model train was well done and a nice area to get out and and stretch the legs near the end of the line.
Read the plaque about the Bush Nursing Sisters and after a bit of a poke around I soon had the cache in hand.
I thought that there would be more people out and about on such a lovely spring d@y
Thanks krankitkiwi & H_3 TFTC
