Not, having a good run of finds at all. Interesting ruins, must have been a difficult occupation but a worthy one. Thanks for bringing us here even though it was not a smilie face on my map.
Great spot!Quick find with Bushnik on the way home from a great holiday in the South-East.TFTC!
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are staying we in Kingston SE for a couple of days, checking out the sights and caches, of course. A fantastic cache location, a fave point from us. TFTC. LNCU
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Staying in Kingston for a few days to grab some finds. Fascinating place. Met a local here who gave us a history lesson on the place. Thanks for enticing us down this track and for the hide. LNCU
May 18, 2024 4:32 PMDidn't really know if I could get close to this one let alone finding it. But let's say attempting this one not having a tyre deflator, or Maxtrax, or an air compressor, or a shovel, or a two way radio and late in the afternoon probably wasn't a good idea and we very nearly got stuck. I turned right at the sign for the ruins thinking the cache was still straight agreed and almost got bogged here as I didn't like the look of the track straight ahead. At this point we tried to bail out but the geomobile wasn't going backwards so I shoveled a bit of sand out by hand then walked up the track towards the ruins where fortunately the sand was shallow and there was a turnaround close by at the ruins themselves. With relief our 4wd did edge forward again and it was only then that Mrs P realised this is where the cache was. I soon found it then we didn't muck around getting out, using a bit more speed to get up those hills. Thank heavens we got out ok or we could have been stuck there for a long time. Cache found and a very lucky escape! Thx, I think, for the adventure! FP for the memories this one will give me.
Well May has come around once again, that means off on a camping trip chasing Yellow Faces . Lucky enough to find many but have encountered a couple Blue Faces .Either way the experience has been rewarding due to the Geocache locations and the beautiful Autumn days in the low 20s.Many thanks go out to all the COs and the maintenance crews around the remote and country regions that make travelling more enjoyable. This was the first trip away after the sad loss of my Pajero, but to our remarkable make believe 4X4 it was up to the quest. Bit tricky at a couple of spots but I reckon if the recovery treds and shovel weren't with us we would of got stuck. Fav Point awarded.TFTC
Exploring today around Robe and Kingston with the oldest geokid. We made it most of the way here but I didnt want to get bogged so we walked the last 300 metres or so. What a great spot and what fascinating history. Not sure Id want to live 8km out on the reef being the light keeper! Fav added for this ripper spot.
Staying near by at Cape Jaffa so had to come to see these ruins, thanks for bringing us here , lovely spot tftc

What a gorgeous spot if history to come and explore! Another spot we would not have come to if not for geocaching ! Easy find with yummy az eats. Tftc
After setting up camp in Kensington SE RV Camp, Pa and I set out in search of caches back down the coast towards Cape Jaffa. This was one of the caches we found on a wet, wild day. We sat in the car for our picnic lunch as the weather was so atrocious, before hunting down this cache and reading the information board. TFTC SL
The cache was found 6m NW according to Sam(sung). Nowhere near the hint.

What an amazing piece of history we would not have discovered without geocaching

It has been many years since we have been in this area. Enjoying our time with the added bonus of geocaching this time.
We took the long way here but got there to find an interesting spot.
Thanks Freddo the Chocolate Frog and Orange Tadpoles for placing for all to enjoy.

Away for a couple of days with Featherwaite.
We concentrated on Kingston, Robe, Cape Jaffa, Beachport and Southend.
We mainly found all the cache we were looking for.
Made our way here with the campervan in tow, all the time hoping there would be a turn around spot. Of course there was at GZ. A quick find in a semi obvious spot.

Found with Team Waldron on our way home from a trip to the SE that targeted Kingston, Robe, Beachport and Southend, and searching for other caches along the way. Thanks for the cache Freddo the Chocolate Frog and Orange Tadpoles!
Just about to give up and leave it for archaeology lovers then… bingo after lifting a rock and finding a scorpion under it!!!
A pleasant walk with great views but unfortunately no luck finding the cache.
Found, after a lot of scrambling around, looking for likely suspects, and after ignoring the published hint. Wherever the container was originally placed, it’s not where the hint suggests now. Replaced where we found it.
What a wonderful place this cache has brought us to. We would never have known this spot was here. TFTC

What a fabulous historic site. Took a while to locate but eventually saw it in plain site. Thank you for bringing us to tis great spot.
Ocw the Bebes. Nice track into the cottages with the 4WD. Followed the hint but misled us a little. Tftc

Headed to Cape Jaffa, really enjoyed the tracks we took to this one.
The last DNF had me worried but I didn’t see that until we arrived. No need to worry though…PDG spotted this one quickly.
It was hidden in a way that was respectful to the structure.

Read and re-read but could not find and we're not amateurs.. spent over an hour looking but walked away ..
Good walk up, great spot to see the old light house and beach! Tftc, found with waffles2183
Our Last day at Kingston and after hooking up and heading off we stupidly did this one with a 3T 21.6 foot Caravan on the back. After a few hairy moments along the track, we arrived at the ruins. Interesting spot and had no idea that the Lighthouse now in Kingston was 8Km off shore from this location! TFTC
Was here yesterday with visitors n didn’t even think about looking for cache until we’d left the area. Love this place, think it’s going to become inaccessible (ie roped off) before too much longer, sadly, so it’s been good to discover the treasure while still able to access. Tyftc
Visiting the area for a golf tournament and taking the opportunity to explore using geocaching. Walked along the path to this one, pleasant sunny day if not a little windy
Well this was a tad out of the way, god spot to find on our travels, just a little nice ruin. Thanks for the cache
Yep this is a great cache. Cache was out in the open. But it back as per hint.
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
Freddo, I found Candy Coated Orange Flavoured Chocolate Goodness today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

On a little weekend escape with Purrfect Di and Jack after a long week at work.
Why not go caching to wind down and mostly stay away from people [:o)]
Love the way caching takes us to these places we never may have seen otherwise. Had a good look around the ruins and imagined what it would be like, sitting here isolated from the world, watching the waves, while chewing on those candy coated orange flavoured chocolate goodies...
Can't imagine why they moved out! A nice solid cache that wasn't a mint tin!
Thanks heaps to Freddo for hiding and looking after this cache on our SA geo game map

Hunting around each and every day finding and signing using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Plenty of that actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*
---
Please do stay as safe as possible when caching.
Keep a lookout for bogs, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Much appreciation of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thank you for reading all this addition to the log word count!
Into the second month of Twenty Twenty Too Enjoy!!!

Found as we wandered around the ruins. Thanks for placing a cache here Freddo, as we love hides like this, taking us to interesting places we would have otherwise never found if it wasn’t for Geocaching. A fav point from me. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC Freddo

Found out caching with Wollaston. An adventurous 4x4 drive on a loose sandy track, neither of us can imagine what it would have been like to live here, the accommodation looks like it would have been quite sophisticated for the times and with limited building materials.
Container condition good
Log condition lots of room
Thanks to CO’s for taking time to set out and maintain hides and for showing us your very special part of the world

No internet service out here but we had read the clues and description before so it was an easy find
340m before it had to stop because a dangerous hill very soft sand and I was gonna get bogged small spot to turn around just before hill don't go on unless in a 4x4
Another beaut location. Fascinating history. We could clearly see the old platform out at sea.
Cache is in good order.
Thank you.

The great Geoventure 2020 tour....take 2...which is of course now in 2021 Once again it myself and AnyMules doing things that not many sane people would attempt. [:o)]
Day 11: The weather today was fantastic, so we headed north all the way to Kingston SE in search of unfound boxes. Some rather fantastic locations and caches found today
* If anything was particularly interesting then there will be a comment
Here.. What a great place to visit. FP just for the location and history. [:X][:X]
otherwise we found all the caches we looked for and they were in good condition.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks Freddo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

SA Mega weekend with sir_spectre, a huge weekend of catchups and hunting geocaches. At different times over the 5 day weekend we joined up with other teams caching as either the misfits or mystery randoms depending on the numbers of people and who organised.
Unfortunately the weather was very typical of the south east and put many teams off exporing the forests and some great creative caches were only found by a few teams.
For me this was a little bit different than for others as I lived in the south east for 15 years and worked in Penola, Millicent and Mount Gambier. Strangely this also meant I kept running into people I knew each day.
Lots of wildlife seen, wombats, echidnas, snakes, kangaroos and wallabies. Luckily the snakes in particular kept leaving the paths as we were walking.
Thanks to the Mega committee for all of their hardwork organising and the many locals who have placed and maintained caches (this includes me )
Thanks to Freddo from mogni

Detoured here in the 4x4. Mogni didn't want to take her car down the sandy track last time. Nice ruins.
On route to the 2021 Mega at Millicent with Mogni. A run of bad weather before the mega meant a last minute change of vechicles for us. Instead of Mogni's car we took the 4x4 down to the mega. This also meant a change in the target caches on route. Now we detoured off roads to get those caches that where on sandy tracks, high clearance or in locations mogni would prefer her car not to go, less finds and highway drive bys was the result. We got down to where we staying the night with out getting rained on to badly.

After quite some time looking around and an attempted PAF (suprisingly there is a tiny bit of Telstra signal) we uncovered the cache. A nice wonder down to the beach and along the sandy paths, thank you for bringing us here. TFTC

Staying in Robe and today decided to do a day trip to Kingston and Cape Jaffa. Last night looked at the map to see what caches were alonmg the way and saw this had a lot of favourite points So planned to head there and make the find. Arrived in Cape Jaffa and after a look around there headed for the cache. Reached the last km or so and deided to use the 4WD on the sporty pay hero. This made the drive in easy and was surprised at what was at GZ. After finding the cache and signing the log had a quick look around and then continued on the journey to Kingston. Fave for this one.

Definitely a lot bigger than I was expecting. The hint was good but we got distracted looking in places that a cache of this size couldn’t have been hiding. It’s almost a 1tr pot
Really nice spot, sound of the waves is nice background noise while trying to find, thanks
Fun track in was recommended to come out and see the ruins of the cottages, from the volunteers at the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse in Kingston SE
Found with TIC_TAC_TOMMO and Stuart97 while holidaying at Kingston SE.
What a nice location and sandy track in. We even saw some deer nearby. Cache was found in the last spot we looked, and was certainly not the size we thought. Left some swag and signed log. Tftc.

Day 3 of a two week getaway from Victoria for the school holidays.
Today we decided to check out Robe in more detail. We were in the area back in January but didn't have time to really checkout the Robe area.
Mrs P picked this one and let me know there was a 1k 4WD track. We drove in the first 600m no problems. Then I parked so I could see what the track looked like ahead - not bad at all. We ended up walking the rest of the way to the cache, as it wasn't very far.
Really interesting history and ruins. After finding the cache, the kids wanted to check out the beach, so Mrs P took the kids , while I went back to get the car , so I could say I had least driven to the cache. By the time I got there they were walking back to the ruins after checking the beach - so I never got to see the beach here.
We only recently got a 4WD, just before Covid started, and our last trip to SA in January was the first time we had used it in anger, when we did a 20km circuit recommended to us by the Beachport Tourist Info centre as a good track for beginners - it was in Canunda National Park, starting and returning from/to Southend. We had a few scary moments but lived to tell the tale. Today's track therefore presented no problems , was short and fun, and we didn't need to lower the tyre pressure.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Freddo. We would never have known it was here, nor come down this track if it wasn't for caching.
A fave from us. But will have to IOU, as we currently don't have any. Will pay up after we have done a few more caches.
