Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Two: Kaniva to BallaratWeather: still quite windy, otherwise perfect. One of eight caches found along the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail today. This is my third nibble on this series, and I dont think many of todays finds were around last time I passed by here. All good coordinates and most were quick finds. This was the drive by of todays bunch. Thanks for the cache McAdies & Geo_Eddie.
Great little cache. Thanks. FYI, there is a roo carcass nearby with a nice ripe smell.
We visit Swan Hill, Mildura, Renmark, Barossa Valley, Victor Harbour, Tailem Bend and the last night at Ballarat. Stopped for few caches on the way. We had a lot of fun travelling these roads and seeing the farms and wildlife along the way. We found a range of caches. Many thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches.
Thanks Mcadies for re-enabling this cache. Prior to it being disabled it was on my target list and not long before myself and the two youngest monsters started really targeting the BSRT, it dropped off the map. On my way through today I made a quick park and grab which was made easy utilising the helpful hint! TFTC!!
----------### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUESTED PLEASE** ###----------Hi there McAdies,It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is some sort of issue. The recent logs may contain more details about what sort of issues are evident. The cache has been [**temporarily disabled**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235), so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location, until the issues/s can be addressed.**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days,** so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.#What you need to do:-#You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-- **Check On The Cache** - once checked, place an Owner Maintenance log and then enable the cache.- **Place A Write Note Log** - indicating a date when you expect it will be restored. - **Adopt Out or Archive** - depending on whether you want it kept or for it to disappear.Full details for each of the above choices can be found at [**GEOCACHE MAINTENANCE**]( https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/Victoria) on the Regional Policies page. You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned. It would be far better if you decide, so please do something before then. scramping & I made our way to Ballarat for the long weekend on a mission to complete the GeoTour, which we accomplished. Today was home time, we collected a few caches along the way.
We stopped at a couple of the BSRT caches that were close to the main road & to stretch our legs. This is a lovely entrance to Smythesdale.

A quick find with hevwalker on our way home from a great longweekend in Ballarat getting the final GeoTour caches and my #5000 find. Also did 10 different cache types in a day, such a satisfying weekend of caching with great caches to find. Thanks for contributing my caching adventures this weekend. TFTC another cool location.
Had some paper and created an extension for log, treat with care please. Easy find. Tfc
TFTC felt a little exposed with all the traffic going past, def got some looks from some drivers. Such a nice welcome sign to check out
Fourth full day in Ballarat and with the kids still asleep, we continued our holiday tradition of Huntress off on a long run, while I went off geocaching. This morning I was focusing on the Goldern Plains LGA. As such we drove to Smythesdale and while I started geocaching heading South, Huntress started her 20 kilometre run back to Ballarat.
Most caches found in good condition and pretty quick for myself who often takes forever to find a basic hide. Think the total for this morning was 19 finds with only 2 DNF, and that should take my Goldern Plains LGA to over 20.
Thought the hint was just weird until I got to GZ, and it all made sense. Well played.
Thanks for the cache McAdies

After attending a couple of events in Skipton, it was now time to make my way back to Melbourne for a T5 event tonight, as I did have some time on my hands, I decided to find a few caches along the way.
A quick drive by here, the cache was found, log signed and I was on my way.

Found with PapaGrouch. Had me tricked to start with, I had assumed it would be a different type of cache. The log was full but the paper that had been added as well had plenty of room still. The lid of the inner is not doing up anymore, I think the threads have been stripped so you may want to consider a bit of maintenance on it at some time. TFTC
Travelling between Warnambool and Ballarat and stopped off for this one. Thanks for hiding and enhancing our exploration of the area.
SL at 7:35pm. Travelling with bdiaw on our way home from the Whittlesea Mega event. Stopped in Ballarat to get some dinner and have a break. Been past here many times before - such a lovely sign, especially at this time of the evening. Even spotted a double rainbow as we were leaving.
*TFTC McAdies & Geo_Eddie!

First find in Smythesdale! Like a lot of the other logs wasn't what I expected, but a quick find nonetheless. I felt very... watched... here (not because of the highway, but I kept hearing noises in the bark and I'm sure something scaley must have been watching! ).
TFTC!

The last day of Xmas/New Year break so we decided to take out the treadlies and complete part of the BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton section.
A lovely day to spend outdoors and find some tupperware before we are stuck indoors and back to working from home.
The last cache for the day and icecream is calling to us.

With it being such a hot day today, we decided to pick a selection of caches to look for with ilook4geo that did not involve too much walking. This one was a nice quick find and both names were soon written on the log to mark our visit. Thanks go to McAdies & Geo_Eddie for putting this cache into play.
Came along today with goingplaces2 to find some caches around the Ballarat area. Found quite a variety of hides and enjoyed all the finds. Each log was found and signed. TFTC.
Ha ha love the hint! Nice town Smythesdale, very quiet, but pretty. Thanks for this cache which was found quickly
Finally managed a trip away with annual leave I had booked 14months ago. Lockdowns and work hindered this plan, but now I have Ballarat my destination for a few caches.
Up early to get caches before the family wakes. Quick find and a nice sunrise.
Thanks to McAdies & Geo_Eddie for the placement and fun.

After a crazy year, it’s time to get away for a bit of R&R, and of course a cache or two.
Day five: BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton.
Logsheet is quite full on this one.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, McAdies

Find #2372 for me. Found at 4 pm while visiting the area from Bendigo. This was another quick find for me along the rail trail today but I thought the container here blended in very well. The logsheet was full but I was able to squeeze my name in the teeniest gap still left. I think the next finder will have to write on top of other logs though so probably needs a check. Although the cache name is "Welcome to Smythesdale", for me it was more like "Bye Bye Smythesdale" given the direction I was heading along the trail.... Thanks for this cache and the others you've placed along the rail trail McAdies & Geo_Eddie!
Thanks for the find went with my aunt and havnt got them all but we got a good amount!
Tftc. Unfortunately I couldnt sign this as the log was full, and didnt have a spare sorry. Riding the rail trail today enjoying the weather.
Heading to St. Arnaud for the mega event. Day 66 of our trip. Caching along the way. A total of 2 for the day and 1821 for the trip. TFTC
Met up with JooJoo57 for a day of caching and enjoyed every minute. We picked some of the easier to get to, rail trail caches which are always fun to do. TFTC
Having a caching day out with MazzyMay while in Ballarat for a few days. Loved the hint - spot on! Will have to do more of the trail on another visit. Thanks.
Visiting friends in Smythesdale and couldn't leave without finding at least one cache to mark the occasion.
The logbook was full and didn't have a suitable replacement in the shonky car.
Thanks for placing the cache
