I knew what I was looking for but still didn't stop be going to a different "watch and view" place. Once I ma aged my GPS, I worked out where it was and easy find! I love these types of hidden caches. TFTC. Good to get this one ticked off!

#333.Managed to park approx 130 metres away to snare this nifty little hide. After retrieving and signing the micro log easily the returning the log part back in casing proved a little difficult for me. After unrolling and re-rolling log I managed to get there lol. Experienced added and for that, the location, and the cool hide, this deserves a favorite point.Another Kiwi marked off.TFTC.

Day 7: We ( TeamARF, Gcoven and myself) have travelled over from Brisbane, Australia to have a visit since we were not able to make it to the Mega. We have spent some considerable time solving puzzles and making plans in preparation. We have a gigantic list of old, interesting, highly favourited, challenges and a few Geo-arts to try and collect over the next 10 days. There is a good chance we got lazy with our logging, or space saving depending on the log size and do some joint variation of our initials - TGJ, GJT or JGT.

Today the plan is to work on collecting things of our list - some of the very old caches in and around Wellington and trying to complete Kiwi Geo-art. We are also picking up a few challenges (will check qualifying once home).

Please excuse the generic log, just have extremely little data to try and survive on it for the 10 days. However, you can be assured that if we have found your cache it was special to us for some reason or in a special location - so thank you for contributing to our holiday.

I will edit logs when back in Brisbane to add more details to those that need more details and of course I will be adding favourite points as I go along.

Another day in the land of the long white cloud. TeamARF, JACSTeam and I headed south to Wellington. Lots of rainy caching but still some awesome caches and spectacular locations. Thanks to all COs!!

19-Apr-23
After checking in to our accommodation it was time to get a start on the Kiwi geo-art on this very wet afternoon, and its only getting wetter. So the aim of this afternoon is to clear out what we can before the sun goes to bed.

Thanks to all the COs involved in putting this geo-art series together.

Was down from Northland for a few days visiting daughter who has moved into a new flat in Porirua. The weather wasn't that flash on arrival day, but the following days were quite nice, so managed to get in a little caching.

The Kiwi Geotrail puzzles were nearby and I had made a point of solving them all in the last month, so they were the prime target today. As luck would have it, fellow Team G0LD member Lis was driving through Porirua today, on her way to the South Island and she still had a few Kiwis left to find, so we teamed up for a few hours, to see if we could knock the series off.

This could have been tricky, as whilst feeling around, we dislodged the cache and then spent another minute with a tott extracting it. Luckily we were successful, so were able to sign and replace carefully in the right position. TFTC

28-May-22
F2F!!!!!!!! Wooooohoooooooooo... only the log though. Not the actual cache. But we can all dream of finding a cache for the first time of its life. Lol. Another fantastic placed cache. Sat and had a nice yarn with KTG while we signed the log. TFTC

28-May-22
We’ve finished the kiwi’s legs, hurray! A couple of cheeky caches grabbed on the way home from elsewhere today. A nice quick find at this spot, and a handy place to perch to admire the view and sign the log with . TFTC. KTG

Like others had trouble finding space to sign the log, will log maintenance request. Can be a tricky extraction but got there in the end. Continuing the progress towards turning a kiwi gold. TFTC and the awesome series. I am slowly making progress. Love having a bigger goal, big thanks to all the COs.

05-Oct-21
Found thanks to my daughter’s eagle eyes Smile The log is completely full and needs replacing. I did find a tiny spot to write in, but not in the right chronological place . Nice spot to visit.

I have lost my notebook! Sad When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a notebook or, as in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks. I mean, I can see the final on the map, and sometimes that sparks a memory, but mostly - no.
Many thanks for a great geoart. I have been saving this for when I can do the whole lot in one day.

04-Jan-20
Running around Pahatahanui Inlet today to capture a family of Kiwis roaming around here. Yes and Kiwi #51. Cheers
Thanks to The Seagnoid for his puzzle solving abilities.

Day 23 - Saturday, 4 January 2020. Wellington. It the Kiwi series at Paramata today thats been on The Seagnoids 'must do' list for some time. Then The Seagnoid ships out. Sadly our 3 week holiday to Taranaki is over today.
Seen heaps, done heaps. Loved it. The Kiwi series is our finale. Cheers

Another great afternoon with MightyMicra pitting his wits and new Garmin against my old cell phone, still about 60/40 in my favour. Get in quick, only 3 spaces left on the log and no room for more paper. TFTC.

23-Nov-19
Another great day out with RedEcho finding caches round this side of the inlet. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches.

07-Aug-19
I solved all of the Kiwi GeoTrail puzzles earlier in the year, but haven't had the chance to head out this way to find them yet. (If I recall correctly this was one of the harder puzzles to solve - not all the information was easy to come by.) Today I put a couple or three hours aside to grab a few of them, and managed 15 (plus some that weren't part of the series. This is my very first and was a nice quick find (a one chance in four of picking the correct spot first!). It was also a lovely sunny sheltered spot (and it didn't stay that way - it was quite overcast and cool when I finished my walk!)

26-Jul-19
Last day of our 2019 North Island Trip and a nice stroll. to grab this one. Nearly missed it but got there in the end. TFTC Smile

26-Jul-19
Had solved these before heading North on our holiday from the South Island but weren't sure if we would get to them - hour or so to kill on the way to the ferry means we can nab 1 or 2 - thanks for puzzle and cache Smile

30-Jun-19
Today is the 14th day of our journey to the south island. I had planned to complete the Kiwi Geotrail before we head to Wellington to take the ferry to the south island. Having arrived near the Lake yesterday I was able to pick up seven of the series on our way to the campsite after visiting Rivendell and eating dinner in the Upper Hut area. We spent the night at the edge of the lake and after eating breakfast I started to collect the Kiwi Caches at around 9:30am.
I mannaged to find 55 caches today, 54 of which to complete the Kiwi. It took me a total of 10 1/2 hours to complete the trail at 8:00pm in a rather slow pace.
This was # 17 of 55 caches today.
Another puzzle I had solved around 2 weeks ago.
We parked the car and entered the walkway midway walking to one side and then the other picking up 6 of the Kiwi caches along the way. Following the GPS I arrived at GZ and made a quick find. Different to the others in the series but a good hide. Tftc.

08-Jun-19
I was out and about today as part of Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ), working our way around the Pauatahanua Inlet finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail series of puzzle caches, plus a few selected others along the way.

In spite of the recent bad weather, we were lucky enough to have mainly sunshine today although the blowing southerly certainly left the air very fresh at times. I had already found a few of this series, as had Gr33nslime, but for the sake of ease whilst logging, all logs today were signed 'Team GST' regardless of whether we had found them before or not.

This one was a swift find at GZ. All was fine with this container and the logsheet, so it was signed quickly and replaced exactly as found before we headed onto the next .

Thanks for the Puzzle, and the cache. A great way to help me celebrate 2 years of caching.

08-Jun-19
Team GST (Gr33nslime, Stardust718, TwigNZ) got together again for another caching trip. This time with a focus on finding all the Porirua Kiwi GeoTrail. We had a lovely drive around the area over 7-8 hours in which I found 70 caches. The parking at times was quite tricky and crossing the busy road was even worse but we all ended the day mostly unharmed (except for a few scratches from gorse).

I started solving all the kiwi caches only 2 weeks before our trip. Fortunately most of them were quite straight forward and the information that was required was almost immediately obvious.

#8 of 70 today. Another quick find.

19-Apr-19
We were staying in Upper Hutt for the week over Easter break and hoped today was finally the day we finished off the Kiwi Geo Trail. Our first go was in Oct 2013 and we did roughly 1/3, we did some more in Oct 2016 and finally wanted to finish it today. We DNFed this in 2016 when it had gone missing so it was a quick find today. Although longer to retrieve as it had been pushed right back. Mums genius idea of using abit of tussock to pull it forward worked perfectly and we soon had the log signed. Thanks to both the original owner and now the adoptive owner for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy. Smile

Hallo!

Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks

21-Oct-18
Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

21-Oct-18
TFTC. Kiwi GeoTrail was oe of the targets for three keen MEGA attendees. KotukuSI and warfi were great companions and puzzle solvers in prep for this adventure.
We manged to complete the caches in a day (minus 2) and were truely warn out after our activities.
thanks to the original placer and the cachers who have taken over maintainence of the trail.

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... Our big focus for today will be to clear out the Kiwi Geo Art trail around the Pauatahanui Basin. We are expecting some challenges here - narrow roads and lots of muggles. With Gap (of Fap and Gap), NZFlossy, and McJandals...

Sunday: We were a little more relaxed today, since there were no pressures to be at certain places on time... Onto the Kiwi Geo Trail. We enjoyed solving each of the puzzles in this series. Each one provided just the right amount of challenge. What a great variety of authentic kiwiana puzzles...

We managed to find most of the Kiwis in their hides. Some were in a lot better condition than others, and we can imagine how challenging it might be to maintain some of them. We found the speed and flow of traffic, and tight parking made things difficult at times. We learnt to be resourceful and resilient as the day drew on. In all, thanks to each of the COs for your input into this series... Apologies for the cut and paste logs. TFTP and TFTC.

21-Oct-18
Caching the GeoArt trail with purdiepurdie & warfi; we are still at the early part of our trail.
Thanks for maintaining these caches, CaligulaNZ.

Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers

I had planned to spend the entire Labour Weekend in the Upper Hutt area at the Wellington Mega, however my plans changed so I had to wait to the day before to see if I was able to attend. It turned out that I was able to, so a quick plan for the day to attempt eleven different cache types and early start in Feilding, to try and make the first event of the day at the Cossie Club at 9.45am. A good drive down to Upper Hutt - after the drama of the day before on State Highway 1 and made it to the location with a few minutes to spare to see the line forming for registration.

I solved this puzzle many months ago and hadn't managed to get around to collect it. Wandered down to the GZ, where the cache was quickly spotted, but it was a tricky retrieve. Second type of cache for the day (Mystery). TFTC

19-Oct-18
A bit of a target cache for me. Needed at some stage on this trip a puzzle solve from a CO beginning with ‘X’, and we had a few pre-solved that fitted the bill. This filled a hole for Capperz, who had found most of these on other trips. A quick find, TFTC Caligula/ Xbroomstickx.

First day of mega weekend, today was all about the ferry ride and a few targeted caches on our way gradually to Upper Hutt. A few in town, some in Ngaio, and some success in Porirua (but a few fails also) before making our way eventually, and slightly late, to the first event of the weekend. Fish and chips in the park. Been hanging out for that. A frustrating day in some respects, but in hindsight the rest of the weekend was a solid success. Thanks for the caches to all COs.

A quick cache and grab into Porirua for a couple more Kiwi Geo-art for me which ticks a Caches by CO beginning with different letter for Ricardinh.nz. Couple of caches found and all good here. T F T P and C XBOOMSTICKX/CaligulaNZ.

The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

19-Oct-18
Another quick easy find. Tftc

19-Oct-18
Lot of a struggle to remove the cache but I got it in the end. Great spot for a walk. Tftc!

18-Oct-18
We parked nearby and set off for a walk. We've done lots of driving ones with the kiwi geoart so far and now it's time to take the pooch along for a bit of exercise. We meet several dogs along this lovely trail. A quick find here, thanks Smile

18-Oct-18
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Today we were targeting the Kiwi GeoTrail and trying to get fifty in a day which we just managed. This happened to include a lo of driving back and forth around the inlet and getting other side caches. but we managed a few walks in between for some of the other caches. Thanks to everyone who is maintaining these caches and keeping them going.

18-Oct-18
30th of the kiwi geoart puzzle day with gely57. Our 5700th cache find! Real team work here as I could see the cache and I directed gely57 to find it. TFTC.

18-Oct-18
Worked out the co-ords with Teahan Family and as we are both over for the MEGA event we tried to complete the series today. Some caches were found in very good condition (being looked after by SAROC) and some that are in need of attention with wet logs and rusty containers. Really enjoyed the series, thanks CO.

03-Oct-18
I am on a solo geocaching trip. I flew in from Christchurch yesterday. My focus today was my visit to the Dutch Embassy yo renew my passport. Once that was done it was back to geocaching. Concentrating on the Geo art and anything else that grabbed my attention.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

25-Mar-18
This afternoon Gr33nslime, DangerSAM and I went out for another mission to travel the solar system. We blasted back over the hill to the Kiwi GeoTrail series over in the Porirua Harbour area. And this time we had a little more knowledge of where to go and what we were looking for exactly. Again we decided to knock off a bunch of caches clustered around an easy to access area. At first this involved a couple of park and grabs as Gr33nslime navigated us through some windy streets. These were a big change from yesterday, so nice and discrete, giving plenty of time to have a decent poke around for the cache. No muggles about so that was very much appreciated. Do not know why as today the weather was stunning, hardly a cloud in the sky. Well I must have spoken too soon as when we came to the main chuck of caches we intended to do, the fine day seemed to have drawn out all the family walkers and those little dog shaped things that seem intent to poo right where I put DangerSAM DangerPram wheels, all well. We ended up having a great walk around the coast on a very smooth track admiring the still bay and the clear view we had out across the inlet. I never would have come down here if it wasn’t for these caches so I thank the CO for that. After walking past some boat houses, we stopped for ice cream (mandatory for the little one) and set off home. Even then the day was not so quickly over as we managed to grab a few of the series on the way home, with Gr33nslime being a master of the dash, dig and retrieve method, perfect for those busy places. In all a very rewarding day today with only one cache we could not locate, but we will be back.

# 1047 The Planetary Challenge encouraged me to revisit this series of caches that I had solved about four years ago and hadn't yet got around to collecting, as I had left the area and was now back. I was happy that in four years only four had to be resolved, so that is a great effort for a big series like this!

With DangerSAM in the DangerPRAM and Jimmy NZ in tow, we were heading for a walk along the lovely inlet on a mild sunday afternoon to pick up a few of the kiwi geotrail.. What a lovely track this is and how very popular on a sunday afternoon which makes it tricky to time to extraction of a cache. I love these caches that are pretty much in plain sight. I still for the life of me dont understand what the clue means but somehow I managed to hone in on the cache and it was in the first place I looked. Lucky my fingers arent too fat and was able to extract it. Cache is in good condition!

8/61 of the Kiwi GeoTrail! Thanks to all CO and cachers who have contributed to this geo art and kept it going.

#5389. Out to Porirua to find a couple of caches tonight. The first place had muggles parked up at GZ so had to flag that one away. There were a few people wandering around here but at dusk it was easier to search. Misread the hint so searched in a spot I didn't need to check. Back to the other place and it wasn't easy to spy in the failing light. But a quick shine of the torch and I saw the container. Still took a few minutes to retrieve as my fingers were too fat. So had to pluck it out with tweezers. Signed the log and replaced the cache exactly as found. Great to have finally wrapped up all the puzzles in the Kiwi Geotrail. Started this series ages ago . This one I have been to twice before only to have muggles settled in too close to the GZ. So pretty happy to have a golden kiwi at last. Thanks CaligulaNZ for the cache.

I had to come out his way ti pick up some fish from a colleague. After that was done Isis58 and I came here for an enjoyable wander round the pathways here.

What a neat day - first treated to a delicious cooked breakfast and lazy start to the day, then a drive out the Eastern Bays on such a gorgeous day, then into town for high tea then out here for an errand. parked up and then went for a wander along the foreshore. I've had almost all of this series solved for ages but never seem to get here to find them. Time to knock a couple off today. Thank goodness for the gps because I would've headed elsewhere with the hint. Nice hide. TFTC # 11,817

Sorry for the late log we just remembered we had not logged some of the KIWI Puzzle caches we got late last year. We had them worked out for sometime but just waited for the day we could come down this way and spend time getting this series. Thank you for placing a great lot of puzzle caches and designing into a KIWI fabulous and very well done. Parking isn't always the easiest in Wellington well not for us out of towners anyway. sorry for the copy and paste we enjoyed our day in the area TFTPC and we hope to back in the area to finish the rest and also attend the Wellington Mega in October 2018. looking forward to it.

Out in the dark tonight grabbing a few caches. This one ended up being a straight forward find . The hardest part as usual was getting the log back. Thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache. Another of the kiwi done.

A lovely morning to be out finding some more of the Kiwi Geo trail. It was near low tide so plenty of birds in the shallows looking for food.

Found the new caches on Te Araoa track this morning, now its time to do some more solved Kiwis. A straightforward find. Thanks for the cache.

I figured if gasbottle can find it so can I. Why is it still disabled if it's good to go? Wasn't too sure what form the new cache would take or where it might be moved to. Checked the logical place first and spied something straight away. Did signing duties while dog-walking muggles ambled by. Had to be careful when replacing but otherwise no problem. Final kiwi cache! Thanks to all involved.

I bumped into the CO at today's event who told me he'd just replaced this so I bowled up to sign and claim my find on the last cache of the Kiwi!

Maintenance run - Friday 4.11.16 - Unfortunately the previous DNF-ers are correct - since my last visit in April the Council appear to have totally removed the item the cache was sequestered in/on. I wasn't prepared for this eventuality today, so will need to reconsider this cache hide OR location (which I would rather not change if possible due to the number of people who have solved this series quite some time before arriving to make the finds). Will endeavour to get something sorted ASAP.

After a LONG and boring whole days travel just to get to the North Island we were ready to get stuck into this trail that I had solved over 3 and a half years ago now and the first day of our Mega roadtrip. After checking in to our accommodation and grabbing a quick dinner we didnt have much light left and the days travel hit us harder that we thought it would so we didnt get as many done as I would have liked. Most were signed g7+M in purple.
I knew that this one was disabled as I had been watching it anxiously. We intended to replace the cache for you but we didnt have anything this small to put it at the listed GZ. This one will probably have to be moved slightly anyway.

Disabling cache - time for a serious maintenance run on the portion of the Kiwi Geotrail I have adopted from xBoomstickx.
