How cute are these quokkas!!
Walking around the boardwalk there were quite a few of these curious muggle creatures. So inquisitive, they were awesome to watch in their natural habitat.
After driving up to Bunbury this morning, and flying to Rottnest Island this morning, we had a wonderful walk around the settlement.
A scrumptious morning tea at the Bakery, then off to the off-road Segway tour out to the Fortress - awesome fun!!
A few additions to the settlement, yet the character of the Island seems unchanged over the years since our last visit in the 80’s.
We found your cache tucked away nicely and with signing duties done and dusted we replaced the cache as found.
Thanks for sharing this interesting place on Rottnest Island.

It was the second time for us in Australia. We stayed in this fascinating country from 11/08/-30/08/2019.
We started our travels in Perth and went in the following 20 days south to Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Pemberton, Denmark, Albany, Hopetoun and Esperance. We continued north to Kalgoorlie, further to the West to Hyden, Northam, Muchea and Cervantes. From Cervantes we drove back to Perth with a final stop at Rottnest Island.
Besides the sightseeing spots we visited and looked for different cache types as
Traditionals, Multis, WherIGos, Letterboxes, Mysteries, Earthcaches and Virtuals. It’s all in the mix.
We could lern a lot about the hide and seek in Western Australia. Maybe we can use the gained knowledge in Germany to hide some caches the way you do in Australia.
We enjoyed these amazing 3 weeks in Down Under as we could do in 2010 and we hope to come to Australia again as soon as possible.

Sorry, the logs are not unique for each cache but we had fun looking for every single one.

Awesome! We found this cache nice a d easily on such a beautiful sunny day. The Quokkas were plenty abound and this beautiful spot made for a nice birthday. Found with ease with SpaceKase.

Once the container was opened, it became apparent that there was no formal logbook as such so, I took the liberty of forming a new one. I do hope the CO approves Smile

I have included pictures of the new logbook

Perth Day 2: Today’s main agenda was to make the trip to Rottnest Island, back to Freo and whatever other caches I can get in between. The weather was perfect for cycling around today with the quokkas, and with that, we picked up many a cache, and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

This is the specific log for this cache:
When I read the question in the title, I was expecting an explanation, and not a pun. Well, after groaning, I made the cycle down the lakeside and reach the boardwalk. It was rather nice and quiet at the GZ with not a soul in sight at the GZ. Did a little searching at found the cache (but no quokkas). TFTC!

Thank you very much for the cache!

gatta nera and Hai Happen married! and what comes after a marriage? ok, her name is still gatta nera and not yet gatta Happen, but would be quit interessting Very Happy

so, next is honeymoon Smile

so, the decision was made, it should go to Australia, with a 12 hour stop over in Singapore to check out the bay area.

on the second day in Perth area, Hai Happen wanted to show gatta nera the cutest animal on this planet - the Qokkas. so they went up at already 6am... uf... to catch the first Rottnest Express ferry in Fremantle to Rotto, grabed some bikes at the Island, biked around, met several Qokkas Very Happy, also some birds, lizards, sea lions, but luckily no snakes Smile
at 4.30pm, the last ferry went back to Fremantle, so it was time to say good bye to this cutys.

all finds on the island were done without any big troubles, even if we've been sometimes unsure, should we look below this bush, this stone...? is there a potential for a snake...? luckily, no snake was seen the whole day.

On our last day in WA we took a day trip out to Rotto. We hired bikes and did the tour of the island - we didn't stop for any of the caches along the way, but got a couple back in the village after lunch. This one was a nice quick find thanks to the not-so-subtle hint in the description! TFTC

Just arrived in Perth from Auckland to stay with friends for a week. First stop Rottnest Island for a day visit, and the chance to find our first Aussie cache. Nice area for the cache, off the beaten track and plenty of quokkas to keep us company while we searched, which didn't take too long. Added bonus was grabbing a TB which we'll take back to the UK with us next week. TFTC

Our last cache to pick up after a our bus ride around Rottnest,
plenty of the little Quokkas here to greet us. this was an easy pick up of the cache
as it was laying in plane sight,
It was a pity that other cachers or muggles just left ice cream wrapper and plastic straws
in the cache, plus no travel bugs located.
rubbished removed
thanks Rottnest Islander

We spent the day biking around the island and petting quokka! The biking was a challenge with a very strong headwind most of the way, but we persevered and enjoyed the views. After making it around, we had a little time left before the ferry left so we headed here and made the easy find. As hubby Jratzlaf was signing the log, I noticed more quokka and headed over to visit, eventually counting 10. Wow! Thanks for the fun!

#6981: After we completed our bike trip around the island we had some time left so we came looking for this cache. I found it quickly and was gratified to see that it was big enough that I could leave my last TB that I had brought from the US. We then discovered the largest group of quokkas we had seen in one place all day--at least 10 of them! TFTC!

Found this one out in open, so I placed it back where I thought it had come from....perhaps the quokkas had pushed it out of it's hiding spot! Saw quite a few of them here. No other people on the walk though, it was nice to discover this quiet part of the island. Thanks for the cache. Picked up 2 TBs and dropped turtle TB that has travelled with me from Denmark, WA.

Who would of thought that a chance meeting at a first to find last week would lead to a massive Rottnest onslaught.
Rottnest has been in my to do list for quite some time now but I never quite got around to it. Speaking to Barnzy12 we both realised we had a day off the following week and plans were made, with Lachlan1.77 joining in on the fun.

Leaving home at 5am we met up and made sure we were aboard the first ferry out of freo - The Quokka1.

Lachlan the experienced cyclist in the group brought his bike across whilst Barnzy and I opted to leave ours at home and hired the electric bikes as I knew my dodgy knees would not stand up to the hilly terrain that is Rottnest.

We trekked across the island in an anti clockwise direction. I had forgotten how beautiful this island really is, making for plenty of photo opportunities Despite being school holidays most of the beaches were deserted and we had very little trouble with muggles and only one slithery thing encountered at 'The blowholes.'

One thing I did notice was how much friendlier the quokkas were away from the settlements in the quieter areas of the island with one group being particularly friendly and the babies quite adventurous and curious of our belongings.

The highlights were definitely the locations but there was still a good variety of hides available and the earth cache numbers were fantastic and much needed. We had come prepared supplying maintence to all caches that required it replacing logs, cracked lids and replacing the one cache that was confirmed missing.

It was a hard slog at times especially trying to do it all in one day but we managed the 40 caches with time to spare which allowed for time to reflect and enjoy a well earned cold one before we caught the wave riding roller coaster home.
TFTC Rottnest Islander the joke in the description gave me a good giggle

Quokka here were very friendly.

A big caching day out to Rottnest Island that has been on the pipeline for too long but never quite eventuated, but with a timeslot open today, plans were set. joined up with locals WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for an action packed day.

We all met in Fremantle at 6am, to depart on the 7am ferry to Rotto. We had done some pre work for this trip grabbing some information on a multi in Bold Park in times long gone by. Got into the Island, and walked over to the bike hire place, to rent an electric bike for WebblyWA and myself, as we are inexperienced cyclists.

We cached the various bays of the Island, starting on the Northern side of the island, working our way to the Extremities of the west end and back to the settlement via the Southern side of the island.

I don’t remember much from my last rotto visit back in 2002, some 16-17 years ago, but the island does look different. The island had some amazing sights, I was shocked that beautiful beaches were deserted, because there was something even more picturesque around the corner.

We enjoyed the great variety of containers on our travels and the amazing locations that the various COs including the Rottnest Island Authority have decided to share with us. The number of Earthcaches really helped complete a fulfilling caching experience.

We completed our days caching around 4pm and retired to a local establishment for a well earned “coldie” before the rough ferry journey home.

A good days effort with all 39 caches on the island found, and another found in fremantle on the way home that we did all the leg work for on the island

Thanks to WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for a great days caching.

Out for a day on Rotto with some other crazy people, with the intention being to nab all the caches on the island. Razz We were worried that time was going to be an enemy today, but we blitzed through them all and even had time for a quick beer (always important) before the boat back to Freo. I ended up with 36 finds for the day, having already previously found 4 caches on the Island. We even found a cache that had been archived for almost 4 years! Surprised We have conducted maintenance for all caches in need, including; replacing logs, lids and caches altogether. All in all, a successful day out at Rotto! [^]

Plenty of adorable quokkas were sighted hopping around near GZ here. They seemed to love this spot! Cheers Rottnest Islander! Big Grin

Our time on the island today was limited. Although we came with the second ferry we had to rent bikes and didn‘t want to take the last ferry back. we managed our way to the most western part very well and still had time to log a couple of caches. Here we dropped two TB‘s and one GC.

The only traditional cache we managed to find while visiting the island. Unfortunately the bus tour went past many of the caches but did not stop or let us out at most on them . This one was a pleasant walk after finishing the tour and before boarding the boat back to the mainland. We saw quite a number of quokkas here, including several young ones.
Thanks for the hide Rottnest Islander.
