Well we couldnt drive past without stopping off for an old Tankengine! Alas, we shant be venturing down the fire trail today, but I suppose we will soon enough.Reckon Im pretty close to the Tankengine double ton now! Thanks for keeping me entertained for so long
I'm on my way to do the GeoBash Tidbinbilla Tracking Station tour and thought it be good to come and see where it all happened 55 years ago when I and 600 million others watched what was being broadcast from Honeysuckle (and the Dish at Parkes) of the events unfolding on the moon.A quick find here on my way back down the hill ... thanks for placing this cache.
I found this on our way up to Honeysuckle campground. TFTC which is one of the hidden dates I wanted on this trip to ACT
Out on a country drive. Better stop and collect a few on the way. Unfortunately the container is cracked. I have placed the logs inside a small sturdy zip lock bag inside so they stay dry. I would have replaced it but I didn't have anything like this one. Should be ok for a while.
I'm feeling inspired to do the remainder up the mountain soon. So I'll be back.

Accompanying All7 ride a bike on track other side and hike walked to other side, took us long way wow really long long stroll for series caches, make my legs kill sometimes ache... but awesome enjoyed..
signed it with good dry, TFTC

Long day hiking, more then 25 KMs done under great weather conditions. Had more planned, but my hike was unfortunate interrupted by 2.5 hrs, only made it back to the car just before sunset. Most caches we're in excellent condition.

My last find for the day, and enough to inspire me to come back another day and complete some more of these trails. I shall return!
What an amazing way to start my holidays from work. Geo-events, traveling, meeting up with friends and finding many different caches made it fun! It’s so nice to finally be able to do all these things… again. The following descriptions are my adventures between the days of 12/11/21 and 16/11/21. Each cache has been logged to the end of my adventures for the day of finding them. If you would like to read my full log, please find it on any cache I found on the 16/11/21.
Day #1: I finished work at 4pm and headed over to Wagga for the only GIFF event in NSW. Apart from the CO, I was the first to arrive at the event. It was great to finally attend a Geocaching after many months without them. All talk Geo was had by all until we were told that dinner was ready. Soon after, the popcorn was ready and the movies were on. Congratulations to all the GIFF finalists and they were all a great watch. Also, Congratulations to BMG for receiving the FTF on the event. Then it was time to head home and get ready to head to Canberra for the next few days.
Day #2: I was nearly late to my own event. O’well… It was still fun with the small group of us that turned up. We also discovered many Moveable caches before heading off to today’s main goal. This happened to be finding the ‘A’ part of the GA geo-art series as well as the lone GC caches around the area which I hadn’t found as I pasted by them. I wasn’t alone as AKM came for the walk as well. After finding all but the last two we headed our separate ways as it started raining heavier. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so the event goes ahead but well will need to see. Also pizza for dinner tonight.
Day #3: Today’s adventures included the CCE down in Booroomba and as many of the nearby caches as possible. I didn’t do the walk to the ‘Booroomba Rocks’ but I am still able to log the event. I then headed off with a large group of others to find the nearby caches. After that, I caught a lift with Kittykatch, Joolay, isopeda and Barb2e and we headed down to the ACT boarder finding the caches along the way many caches were found and a new GCA cache placed (Gudgenby – GA25097). It was great to see some ammo cans out in the wild, even if they were slightly damaged by the fires. As we arrived back in Tharwa we had afternoon tea and headed our separate ways. Another great day and so much more to go.
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community enjoyment.

**This Cache**
Yet another familiar TE container, yet another one that I haven't seen for a while! You should bring back some of these different containers, great to have the variety on these older hides!
---
**Today:**
Decided to make use of the cool, dry weather after a couple days of rain to come on a hike down in Namadgi! I can't even remember the last time I found myself hiking in Namadgi, I struggle to find the time for it amongst other geocaching adventures but I hope to do more soon!
Sent an invite out to sebass as well, after discovering he was keen to go caching with some company! Always good to have another friendly face to enjoy the experience with and looking forward to caching together in the future, we already have future plans to tackle the second half of the Tennant Trail! This trip we started on the Tennant Fire Trail, grabbing the first 10 caches in the series that follows it, before diverting along Bushfold Flats Fire Trail for some more unique caching in a new area! Couldn't keep up half the time, despite walking 30,000+ steps and 24km, Sebass was still powering at god speeds by the end of it!
Thanks Tankengine for the adventure

Found at the start of a brilliant day going up Mt Tennant.
Out on the trail with Tankengine, AngelG27, Joolay, and Contesta to find caches with owner maintenance. First time back in this part of Namagi after the fires.

TFTC Collected this one as a driveby on our way home from Honeysuckle today. Don't get to see too many Tankengine caches like this!
Thanks Tankengine for the excellent maintenance you always do on your caches, makes them a pleasure to find. Even the oldies. I'm looking forward to doing this trail soon now that it is accessible again

My first visit to Honeysuckle since the fires. Great to see the campground site survived but still very confronting to see all the damage in the bush. There is regrowth everywhere which brings its own challenges with off-track walking up here.
On the way home I parked in the regular spot, walked down the road and made a straightforward find of this cache in the obvious location. Great to see that at least this little section has escaped being burnt - I don't hold the best hopes for the remainder of this series once on the Tennent climb proper, but will head up Mt Tennent from this side shortly to check them out.
As expected this older TE log and cache was in excellent condition despite being unloved for around 19 months.
Thanks, Tankengine.

30,000+ steps, 27 caches and a leisurely (though hard work at times) 6 hour trip to Tennent's Tip and back with dty73 and Tankengine.
Luckily the weather remained kind to us throughout the day and the rain stayed away (and it's always easy to find a cache with the CO in tow!)
Thanks for placing this series along the trail and inspiring me to ascend the mountain today. I definitely appreciated all the stops to search for caches, though it was difficult at times to convince the legs to start moving again!
Thanks again dty73 and Tankengine for a fun day out.

Attending the Queanbeyan Clear Waters mega event, this was my final day. I teamed up with e.gregory1 today, as we headed south from the city, and geocache in and around Namadgi National Park. Another nice day with great weather, apart from the thunderstorm that rolled through towards the end of a day. It wasn't a day of high finds, but some great targeted caches, awesome scenery, and interesting history at Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station, which was linked to assisting with communicating the moon landing.
We managed to find this cache on our way out from Honeysuckle Creek area. This geocache didn't take long to find, and the cache and contents were in good shape. Thanks Tankengine for its placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today was the final day of the Clear Water Mega event in Queanbeyan. I teamed up with a fellow South Australian geocacher and spent much of the day south of the city in and around the Namadgi National Park.
We had another day of great weather until late in the afternoon when a thunderstorm passed over. Fortunately we were pretty much finished and headed back by then.
Thanks Tankengine for the cache.

Today was based around the drive to and from Orroral valley for the mornings event. I stopped for a few caches on the way down and several more on the way home. An enjoyable trip with plenty of success.
Thanks.

Stopped here with Joolay on our way to the CITO further up the road. A good quick find and we were on our way to the next one. TFTC TE SL
Found with Smittengranny on our way to the Honeysuckle CITO. Great spot and one day will do the Tennant Trails ones but not today. Cache in good condition. TFTC
What an incredible hike! An amazing trail with breathtaking views. The weather turned at the summit and we got some lightning and thunder, so our time at the tip was cut short. A great (but slightly wet) walk back down the front. TFTC
It was getting about time I explored this side of Mount Tennant - for years I've been ascending the northern face from the Namadgi Visitor Centre, and I'd found all the Tennant Trail caches in the upper stretch. While I knew all along that a trail led up the other side (and have driven past the trailhead plenty of times!), I'd never actually thought to try it.
Given the density of caches, however, I decided not to do the whole thing in one afternoon, and instead followed the track until the turnoff to Bushfold's Flat, to make that the objective of the day's journey.
Altogether it was a very pleasant walk, not too warm, and completely deserted on the trail! I had a couple of close encounters with snakes, and once with a wayward calf, but came to no harm. Definitely a walk I reccomend!
Thanks for the caches!

It had been a while since I'd walked up a good hill (six weeks in the complete flatness of central-northern Victoria followed by a dodgy back will do that) and if you're after a good hill, Mt Tennent is as good as any. I had walked this trail once before without doing any caches - one of those days I just felt like walking without stopping to cache - but today the caches beckoned.
Quite a long, tough walk and a few days of aching legs followed, but it was definitely worth it to summit Tennent on this glorious day. All caches found without trouble. Lyrebirds spotted. Emu tracks spotted. All rather excellent.
Apologies for the generic caches, but you'll understand. TFTC x 20 something

A quick find after coming back from doing the Booroomba Rocks trail. Thanks for putting this here for us to come and see.
A more strenuous than expected ramble up Mt a Tennant on a rather warm Canberra Day. Three muggles along for the ride. I think this trail is more difficult than the other trail....
Thanks Tankengine

So Aquilus1 messages me, "do you want to do the Tennant Trail", for sure... when? "tomorrow morning", hmmm OK, The geowife gave the all clear and I set the alarm to stupid-o-clock so we could get it all done and dusted well before the heat really settled in. So we park the car at 7am and Aquilus1 very patiently waits for me to make the first two finds which she has done before.... right, the real action starts now!
It was a surprisingly pleasant walk up the mountain, though we decided not to kill ourselves and we took our time. We walked past a few caches without realising.... we were way to chatty but these offered things to do on the descent. At the top we were invited up onto the fire viewing platform which offered amazing views, especially with the binoculars that they use.
All in all a long, but very rewarding day. The car never looked so good and there were even ice cold drinks inside...Yay!
This second one was not quickly found, I dont have any excuse and Aquilus1 did have a good chuckle at my expense. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache and the whole series.

I'm out again today with my GeoSchnauzers and my friend's GeoCavoodles, looking for caches and places to walk the puppies. I had decided to drive up here to check out the Tennent track for future reference. This one was right beside the road, so stopped and grabbed it. Easy find, no laws broken. (I didn't park, I stood).
Found with AddictedGamer and Aquilus1 while out for some caching adventures. On the way home and decided to pick this one up on the way as we were driving right past it. TFTC!!!
With the talk of doing this trail sometime, while in the area stopped for a better look, and a cache! Not sure why I expected it to be different, perhaps I have the idea that it just starts at the bottom and you just keep climbing upwards to the top! Can see plenty of climbing but nice to see the flat down there too. Log is full although room around the edges and a sheet of paper added as well. Thanks for the cache TE, logs still working fine but could do with a new one soonish.
Found with Dty73 , Aquilus1 we had found this in a couple of seconds read dty73's log for more TFTC!!! Log full
Wonderful walk/climb with b&s today ... thanks for the cache and the series Tankengine (and apologies for generic logs to follow)
Ok, here we go and the two geokids in ready and raring, they just don't realize how big the hill is (7 and 9 yrs), let's see how far we get as I expect this to be a long climb, especially for short legs. A few caches on the way will be good distraction. Aim is bushfold hut and if we have motivation and energy push on to the top, but let's see how we go second cache was quick in hand. Tftc
The second cache on the Mt Tennent route today. Quickly found. A four wheel drive truck was driving around the fields spreading fertilise or something. The driver waved to us as we passed. TFTC Tankengine.
TikvaNZ and I decided Christmas Eve was a perfect opportunity to undertake a 6hr assault of Mt Tennent, by completing the Tennent Trail series up to the top and plenty of bush-bashing down the other side. 28 caches, 1 small brown snake, 1 blue tongue and 3 goannas!
Quick find for this one. TFTC TE

Out on a geocaching mission with Winterdragon in Namadgi national park and decided we could find the time for a couple more caches on the way back! We did not have time to attack the whole trail, but figured we could make a start:-)
Second of this series for me, and another quick find, once WD cleared away the webs! Thanks Tankengine for the cache - I might even come back one day and do the rest!!

On the way past with AngelG27, and took the opportunity to grab the second in this series. At this rate, I should have the whole lot done in about 20 years! I'd like to come back and spend a day doing it properly though.
TNLN - Thanks Tankengine!

We did this one on the way home as part of a recce for a future trip. Keen to check out the start to know what to expect, this spot was quickly found by the geodad after the geokid gave up. We look forward to the return! The log was full so I put an extra pocketbook sheet in for the next entires. Next time I come back I will bring some proper geocaching paper, or if someone reads this note, please do so yourselves and let us know. TFTC
Heading down the hill from my overnight stay, another quick stop for this roadside cache.
Thanks

Plans were set in place with StrangeTrousers and mtrax to make the nab on some of the more challenging and higher terrain caches around Booroomba Rocks. A lovely sunny but cool day made it the perfect day for geocaching out here!
Another quick find on the way home from an epic day of caching! Thanks to StrangeTrousers and mtrax for their excellent company-it was a great day!

Beautiful autumn day. What better way to spend it than hiking up to Mt Tennent. Many TFTC!
4737. Well Relish64 and myself decided it was time to hit the trail, so with backpacks loaded we made a casual start and headed off.
A great trail with some welcome breaks at each cache. No troubles locating each one and eventually we found ourselves at the top with some very rewarding views.
We totally agree that everyone should at least come up here once and we will definitely be back up here again. Maybe a different route.
It was quite funny to See Relish64 swinging on the gate that she thought was locked!!!
Many thanks TE for the extra motivation with this trail and apologies for the generic log.... but you get that !!!

Grabbed this one today with OutRangerous, saw how steep the walk just to get to start of the hill trail was and changed my mind. Will come back when I am fitter. TFTC
found quickly. looked at the trail we had to take for the series and balked and decided to go for an easier day's caching elsewhere.
Great point to take a couple of photos before heading off on the day's journey. TFTC Tankengine.
Found today with some bush walking friends. We walked to the summit of Mount Tennent from the Namadgi visitor's centre, and then walked down the other side of the hill to collect these caches. I think Tennent is actually probably easier form the cache direction, but less scenic. Overall, 1,000 meters vertical ascent and about a 16km walk.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.
Done the tennent trail, except somehow missed the easiest one, this being it☺ tftc.
Not being winter, I waited for a cool day to attempt this series. Just looking at the road made me feel tired before even starting! Although considered a "walk in the park" by many cachers, I found this tough going with its relentless uphill climbs. I think I was a teenager when I last climbed this hill so it's been a long time. Overall a great day out, just a pity about the roadwork crews that were grading the road and making lots of noise. 3.75 hours up (lots of stops!), 1.5 down.
Reminds me of the Lakes walk at Charlotte pass. A big hill to climb when returning to the car tired!.
Thanks

#1221 2 of 24 today.
I have a 'spare' week of leave to use up. Hmmm what should I do ? Sit around at home ? Not likely !
I've had the Tennent Trail in my sights for some time. I've been up here once before on a bush walk about 5 years ago. The view was one of the best I've seen. Time to revisit & claim a few more Tankengine caches. I must be getting close to 100.
I was a bit worried about doing the Tennent Trail today after waking to wind & rain, but the forecast was for clearing conditions, so I thought I'd delay the start & head out anyway. I'm glad I did. As I climbed higher & higher the conditions progressively improved. By the time I reached the summit, clear blue sky, a few gusts of wind but otherwise lovely, uninterrupted, breathtaking views - with no muggles.
Another quick find at what feels like the true starting point.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine.

Last when in the area for the earth cache at the old tracking station we saw this bush power trail and thought that looks like a good leg stretcher so we had it in mind for today but things got away from us a little bit on checking the forecast we figured we could still get up and back prior to night fall. We parked and headed over to the gate for the first of the finds we had targeted (we are on a bit of a diet to avoid 1.5/1.5 caches. The creek looked to have a bit of water flowing in it but as we got close we could see it was very shallow and our shoes would be water proof enough for a quick dash. We started to get a feel for the hides but skipped two on the way up as the school had a camp setup happening but we got them on the way back down. We also could not find two others on the way up and rather than use up all our time searching instead of reaching the top but found them quickly on the way down. A walk with plenty of Roos around for a round trip of just over 3.5 hrs. A couple of damp logs but all signable and we drained what we could from a few containers. TFTC.
Another one done. Yay! I found this as part of a daily streak I am working on - over 2 months now. The first month wasn't so bad, the 2nd month got harder, and now it's getting more challenging to make sure I don't miss a day.
Thanks go to Tankengine for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated. I enjoyed finding this one with Jackson Lightning and 4yo geokid. This cache was another "Found it" for me.
I enjoy the challenge of the cache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hidden gem. My new GPS is working great and it has really improved my geocaching experience. TFTC! Cheers. [Blue]Jump Pilot[/Blue]

After completing a successful lonely cache mission, ZQX & I stopped off at the rest of the lower Tennent Trail caches I hadn't yet found. After slogging up the hill pushing the bike, I set to to find the cache. I was unsuccessful. The hint didn't help me much as I hadn't found #1 yet. But ZQX had and he quickly retrieved it for me. Time to finally get round to doing Tennent Trail. I have been looking forward to this one for a long time.
Started a bit warn out after doing "Gudgenby George" which I didn't expect to be difficult. I haven't been up this track for quite some time. Last time was for a night cache (now archived) on push-bikes.
It's a continuous "up" power series, so it was just a matter of keeping going. Finished the lot and did a couple of extras that were along/near the trail.

It's a continuous "up" power series, so it was just a matter of keeping going. Finished the lot and did a couple of extras that were along/near the trail.
TFTC Series Tankengine.
Signed log and over the gate we went.
We were amused by how many locks there are on the gate.

Knowing that I would be very short of time, I skipped some of the initial caches in the series to make sure that I'd get to the peak. To stop me changing my mind, I didn't even put into my GPS. Then on the way back to the car, I said to myself ''if you can find it without the co-ords, and without the description, and without the hint, in 1 minute - ok". And what do you know
We had planned this series for last Saturday, however a poor weather forecast changed our plans and we spent the day solving puzzles instead. But we didn't want this series to fall back on the ever growing to-do list; Pagan had his usual Wednesday off and we decided Loki could take the day off as well and make a day of it.
This morning was also quite overcast but we weren't skipping it twice so off we went. Arrived at the parking area and headed in to #2, our first for the day. A quick find in the logical spot @ 9:46:00 AM.
Thanks Tankengine

Quick find to finish off the day . I will do the rest next time I'm in the area - TFTC - Docadoo
I have come to visit one of my favourite spots in Canberra (Honey Suckle Creek). I grabbed this one while driving past. Will come back another day to do the walk up Mt Tennant. Quick and easy find. TFTC
Haven't been up Tennant for nearly four years. Since the time of the one smiley on top there is now a great collection. Started late, so hiked up the Southern face as quick as possible with Fit02, lunch at the top (great hot chocolate thanks to Fit02). Rapid decent with caches along the way.
Hey hey, found this last year using Sherlock skills but had to wait until I activated premium! Tftc!
8547 + 990 = 9537. With some spare time up our sleeves - but not too much - I decided that a walk about a third of the way up would suffice today with GSC2000 and AwesomeL.
After number 1 we headed on down the road to the gate where AwesomeL did the honours with this one. It was then I pointed out to them where we were going - lol - priceless !
Thanks again Tankengine !! Its been a while since I was up this way and the kids first time !
TNLN - TFTC !!

#84 The second cache of the day whilst climbing Mt Tennent with my dad. After grabbing the previous cache at the carpark, we began our journey and headed off to the start gate. There were a few cyclists out today and we spotted a couple of hikers from the cache. Got to GZ and then it was a quick search to make the find! Cache signed and replaced, TFTC Tankengine!
Down in the ACT to visit family, who are all working today, so I've decided to climb a mountain!!
I left a bit later than I was intending on and made a stop at the visitors information centre to learn a bit more about this beautiful area of countryside.
When I got to this gate I was initially concerned about going through but I guess the gates were designed for accessibility.
Found the cache quickly and started off on the adventure. As I walked down the trail I noticed both paddock gates were open and not being a country person, I was keeping an eye on those cows!! Do cows chase you?! Argh!!
