#3903 An outing with DeadThief and injuryman to pick up as many caches as we could physically manage along Mt Tennant, Bushfolds Flat and Blue Gum Creek Fire Trails. Parked the vehicle of the day (injuryman-mobile) and hit the trail at 7.15am. It was a fair hike all on foot and returned to the car at 3.45pm. No idea how many kilometres in total but my body is starting to contest my ownership.
As injuryman had found this cache on a previous visit, we temporarily parted ways to head up for this one. Coordinates were spot on and after logging rejoined injuryman at the trail junction. TFTC. Definitely keen to come back and tackle Tennant once I recover and my body allows my mind to retake control.

Long day hiking, more then 25 KMs done under great weather conditions. Had more planned, but my hike was unfortunate interrupted by 2.5 hrs, only made it back to the car just before sunset. Most caches we're in excellent condition.

**This Cache**

The title of this cache didn't quite make as much sense as the others did! Maybe I missed something, but either way it was a quick find once the GPS eventually settled! Time to head off the track and onto the Bushfold Flat Fire Trail! The rest of the Tennant Trail is to be completed coming up from the other side of Tennent on a future visit! Big Grin

**Today:**

Decided to make use of the cool, dry weather after a couple days of rain to come on a hike down in Namadgi! I can't even remember the last time I found myself hiking in Namadgi, I struggle to find the time for it amongst other geocaching adventures but I hope to do more soon!

Sent an invite out to sebass as well, after discovering he was keen to go caching with some company! Always good to have another friendly face to enjoy the experience with and looking forward to caching together in the future, we already have future plans to tackle the second half of the Tennant Trail! This trip we started on the Tennant Fire Trail, grabbing the first 10 caches in the series that follows it, before diverting along Bushfold Flats Fire Trail for some more unique caching in a new area! Couldn't keep up half the time, despite walking 30,000+ steps and 24km, Sebass was still powering at god speeds by the end of it!

Thanks Tankengine for the adventure

I had meant to come up here a month ago with the CO and friends on a maintenance run; alas, I was feeling bleh after my Covid vaccine so gave it a miss. Fast forward a month and today found the GeoKids and I getting a bit of the school holiday boredom, so we packed up and parked in the usual spot off Apollo Rd (spying the cars of our caching buddies StarsAlign + Contesta there too!).

We set off along the fire trail on what turned out to be a superb winter's day. As always a spectacular, although steep in parts, walk. It's great to see the regrowth after the destruction of the fires, but also sad to see the damage caused which is very apparent when looking across to Deadman's Hill and Booroomba Rocks.

All the 25 caches we found today were in (unsurprisingly) excellent condition and were quickly located at GZ with the assistance of bespoke coordinates and generous hints. All up we walked 17.68km return with an 820m elevation gain. The trip took us 6:20hrs which included generous breaks for snacks and fo me to get my great back (the GeoKids charged up and down the mountain!) as well as a short diversion into Bushfold Flats hut.

This is a superb caching trail, Tankengine - thank you! We all enjoyed it immensely.

Cache 7604 on 5 Jun 2021.

Out with a bunch of geocachers to climb Mount Tennant on a Sunny but cold winters day. The bunch of cachers being Joolay, Isopedia, Contesta and the CO. The CO needed to do maintenance, so we decided to join him on a walk/bike up the hill. All caches found (as originally placed or as replaced today) in accordance with the hints unless otherwise indicated.

Lots of uphill trekking! But good to stop while Contesta found the cache!

Thanks Tankengine for the caches, the exercise and the fun!

Hard going but another one down.

Found with Tankengine, Isopeda, Contesta and AngelG27, venturing up Mt Tennant. Not sure if I am crazy or not. Fabulous day to be out and about.

After a freezing start to the day, was lucky enough to be part of the ‘official maintenance crew’ - signed as JICA - assisting the CO to check on the Tennant Trail series.

Decided on taking the MTB as it’s not had nearly as much used as I would have liked in recent weeks so any excuse is a good excuse right. Up up and away! Great adventure to finally find this series after the fires.

Grateful thanks Tankengine, for placing and maintaining so many great caches that continue to bring joy and entertain me on my journey.

Let me catch my breath.

Out on the trail with Tankengine, AngelG27, Joolay, and Contesta to find caches with owner maintenance. First time back in this part of Namagi after the fires.

30,000+ steps, 27 caches and a leisurely (though hard work at times) 6 hour trip to Tennent's Tip and back with dty73 and Tankengine.
Luckily the weather remained kind to us throughout the day and the rain stayed away (and it's always easy to find a cache with the CO in tow!)
Thanks for placing this series along the trail and inspiring me to ascend the mountain today. I definitely appreciated all the stops to search for caches, though it was difficult at times to convince the legs to start moving again!

Thanks again dty73 and Tankengine for a fun day out.

30-Jun-19
BoujeeBunny and Tankengine had made plans to come and pick up the caches all the way up to the top. As I hadn't done these yet I asked if I could join in the "fun".

So BoujeeBunny picked Tankengine and I up at about 8am and we were parked at No. 1 just before 9am. 6hrs later we had climbed up and back (approx. 15kms), collected 25 caches (for me as I had done No. 1 & 2 previously), had lunch, seen a hut and met a lot of crazy people who seemed to just climb the mountain for fun of it without getting one cache!! Muggle Madness!! We were even passed by one crazy person who was running down the road - we bet that he had run up it too.

It was a good day for it though. The weather was cool and clear, but I still had to take my jacket off half way up. The rain from the previous night had softened the ground, but even though there were a couple of times one of us would sink up to the laces of our shoe in a spot or two, the road was mainly just soft which I think was better than hard dry ground. The wind at the top was chilly though and once we had stopped and sat down for a little to eat lunch I had to put my jumper back on.

As Tankengine was there each cache of his was checked and maintenance performed if necessary. The couple that weren't his were all fine too.

Thanks for a great day guys and of course TFTC Tankengine!!!

Another one done. Woo Hoo! I enjoyed finding this one at 11:56:30 AM with OzGeoBerries.

I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my 2 boys, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs and see names of my friends who have found caches around the country. Thanks go to **** for making the effort to place this cache and maintain it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and it is very much appreciated.

TFTC! Cheers. *Jump Pilot* Cool

What an incredible hike! An amazing trail with breathtaking views. The weather turned at the summit and we got some lightning and thunder, so our time at the tip was cut short. A great (but slightly wet) walk back down the front. TFTC

17-Nov-18
It was getting about time I explored this side of Mount Tennant - for years I've been ascending the northern face from the Namadgi Visitor Centre, and I'd found all the Tennant Trail caches in the upper stretch. While I knew all along that a trail led up the other side (and have driven past the trailhead plenty of times!), I'd never actually thought to try it.

Given the density of caches, however, I decided not to do the whole thing in one afternoon, and instead followed the track until the turnoff to Bushfold's Flat, to make that the objective of the day's journey. This one was a little way past the turnoff, but I went for it anyway!

Altogether it was a very pleasant walk, not too warm, and completely deserted on the trail! I had a couple of close encounters with snakes, and once with a wayward calf, but came to no harm. Definitely a walk I reccomend!

Thanks for the caches!

02-Sep-18
It had been a while since I'd walked up a good hill (six weeks in the complete flatness of central-northern Victoria followed by a dodgy back will do that) and if you're after a good hill, Mt Tennent is as good as any. I had walked this trail once before without doing any caches - one of those days I just felt like walking without stopping to cache - but today the caches beckoned.

Quite a long, tough walk and a few days of aching legs followed, but it was definitely worth it to summit Tennent on this glorious day. All caches found without trouble. Lyrebirds spotted. Emu tracks spotted. All rather excellent.

Apologies for the generic caches, but you'll understand. TFTC x 20 something Smile

A more strenuous than expected ramble up Mt a Tennant on a rather warm Canberra Day. Three muggles along for the ride. I think this trail is more difficult than the other trail....

17-Dec-17
With the warmer day it was a respectably early start collecting CBR_Grahams along the way that had us starting to walk about 7am. With the cool of the morning the almost continual climb wasn't noticed any where near as much as I had thought it would as we walked upwards stopping as needed and taking a few breaks. The casual approach made for a very scenic and enjoyable walk, taking in the area and its views as they appeared. Good company and plenty of conversation passed the time and although that one last climb at the end towards the summit was felt, arriving at the top and taking in the 360 degree views made the walk completely worth it.

The highlight of the top would have to be invited up into the fire viewing platform with the most amazing views and the very high powered binoculars we were offered to take it all in. Spectacular!

The walk down was a lot slower with the heat of the day and was surprised at how steep it was at times, but overall was a much easier and achievable walk than I could have imagined. The last hill up to the car was by far the hardest of the day but the esky of ice cold drinks waiting for us was very welcomed. Thanks for the cache Tankengine.

Feel like we are fairly high with the planes vapour trails so close. The clouds we had from this morning are starting to burn off and let the sun through but the sweats keeping me cool! Ew!

17-Dec-17
So Aquilus1 messages me, "do you want to do the Tennant Trail", for sure... when? "tomorrow morning", hmmm OK, The geowife gave the all clear and I set the alarm to stupid-o-clock so we could get it all done and dusted well before the heat really settled in. So we park the car at 7am and Aquilus1 very patiently waits for me to make the first two finds which she has done before.... right, the real action starts now!

It was a surprisingly pleasant walk up the mountain, though we decided not to kill ourselves and we took our time. We walked past a few caches without realising.... we were way to chatty but these offered things to do on the descent. At the top we were invited up onto the fire viewing platform which offered amazing views, especially with the binoculars that they use.

All in all a long, but very rewarding day. The car never looked so good and there were even ice cold drinks inside...Yay!

The name of this cache gives a great clue for where on the track you need to stop, from there it is pretty simple. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache and the whole series.

Plans came together last night to do the Tennent Trail with Fox in Jox. We were both looking for somewhere with lots of caches to bring us closer to our goals for the year. I'd already done the lower stretch except for the newer one, and the top section having been to the top via the scar (and down the AAWT) on a previous occasion. We started walking at 7am and got to the top soon after 10am. It was still and hot. We then headed down to Tennent Termination before 'diving' over the edge and straight down to find Too Many Acronyms, then carried on down to Bushranger Booty And then onto the AAWT to find Assimilate Ver 2. We arrived back at the car just before 1pm - 6 hours all up (and down). I was completely exhausted, and it took a while to cool down and recover. I was drinking lots but probably had not enough to eat. It was very very very hot for the last stretch - I think I was close to passing out! (We had run down part of the AAWT). A successful mornings caching. One small snake, a couple of goannas and some other lizards sighted. TFTC and series.

24-Dec-16
TikvaNZ and I decided Christmas Eve was a perfect opportunity to undertake a 6hr assault of Mt Tennent, by completing the Tennent Trail series up to the top and plenty of bush-bashing down the other side. 28 caches, 1 small brown snake, 1 blue tongue and 3 goannas!

Took a little while to find this one. It was certainly hanging, just neatly camouflaged with some fallen bark. TFTC TE

11918. Today I decided to complete the Tennent trail which I started back on 27 July 2014 !

Public Holiday with perfect weather? Just the right conditions to tackle the far side of Mt Tennent. I did the (original) first 6 with GSC2000 and AwesomeL over 2 years ago, and with the extra 2 added plus the hut it was time to go for the walk up and up to the top.

Parked in the usual spot and walked down and along the first part of the trail. I said to myself "thats going to hurt on the way back" - and it did ! Got to this next one after the Hut detour and had a nice quick find. Signed the log, returned the cache, and continued upwards.

Thanks again Tankengine !!

Great, sunny autumn day to hike up to Mt Tennent. Many thanks for placing so many caches along the way, making an enjoyable hike even more enjoyable.

From memory, a great view back along the track to a conical-shaped mountain from about this spot . . .

4745. Well Relish64 and myself decided it was time to hit the trail, so with backpacks loaded we made a casual start and headed off.
A great trail with some welcome breaks at each cache. No troubles locating each one and eventually we found ourselves at the top with some very rewarding views.
We totally agree that everyone should at least come up here once and we will definitely be back up here again. Maybe a different route.
Many thanks TE for the extra motivation with this trail and apologies for the generic log.... but you get that !!!

28-Dec-15
So, I marked this one as found but I want to call out that the cache is missing. We found the circular impression the cache made in the dirt, and a discarded o-ring, but the cache itself is gone.

28-Dec-15
Found today with some bush walking friends. We walked to the summit of Mount Tennent from the Namadgi visitor's centre, and then walked down the other side of the hill to collect these caches. I think Tennent is actually probably easier form the cache direction, but less scenic. Overall, 1,000 meters vertical ascent and about a 16km walk.

Thanks for all these caches, much appreciated.

13-Oct-15
My only DNF of the day. Had a good look on the way up and again on the way down. I found a couple of likely hiding spots matching the hint but no cache found (although I did find the O-ring nearby). There has been a lot of water rushing down here at some stage so maybe the cache was washed away (or maybe it was disturbed by the road workers). I checked downstream where the water had obviously gone but couldn't find it.

#1228 9 of 24 today.

I have a 'spare' week of leave to use up. Hmmm what should I do ? Sit around at home ? Not likely !

I've had the Tennent Trail in my sights for some time. I've been up here once before on a bush walk about 5 years ago. The view was one of the best I've seen. Time to revisit & claim a few more Tankengine caches. I must be getting close to 100.

I was a bit worried about doing the Tennent Trail today after waking to wind & rain, but the forecast was for clearing conditions, so I thought I'd delay the start & head out anyway. I'm glad I did. As I climbed higher & higher the conditions progressively improved. By the time I reached the summit, clear blue sky, a few gusts of wind but otherwise lovely, uninterrupted, breathtaking views - with no muggles.

Thanks for the cache Tankengine.

01-Sep-15
Last when in the area for the earth cache at the old tracking station we saw this bush power trail and thought that looks like a good leg stretcher so we had it in mind for today but things got away from us a little bit on checking the forecast we figured we could still get up and back prior to night fall. We parked and headed over to the gate for the first of the finds we had targeted (we are on a bit of a diet to avoid 1.5/1.5 caches. The creek looked to have a bit of water flowing in it but as we got close we could see it was very shallow and our shoes would be water proof enough for a quick dash. We started to get a feel for the hides but skipped two on the way up as the school had a camp setup happening but we got them on the way back down. We also could not find two others on the way up and rather than use up all our time searching instead of reaching the top but found them quickly on the way down. A walk with plenty of Roos around for a round trip of just over 3.5 hrs. A couple of damp logs but all signable and we drained what we could from a few containers. TFTC.

Time to finally get round to doing Tennent Trail. I have been looking forward to this one for a long time.

Started a bit warn out after doing "Gudgenby George" which I didn't expect to be difficult. I haven't been up this track for quite some time. Last time was for a night cache (now archived) on push-bikes.

It's a continuous "up" power series, so it was just a matter of keeping going. Finished the lot and did a couple of extras that were along/near the trail.

Thanks for the acknowledgement Tankengine, Smile but this one already had a clean logsheet added by somebody else, I just removed the soggy old one. The seal is gone but I left it upright which I think is bit more weatherproof than on its side. Dad's getting the hang of this now. TFTC Tankengine

Haven't been up Tennant for nearly four years. Since the time of the one smiley on top there is now a great collection. Started late, so hiked up the Southern face as quick as possible with Fit02, lunch at the top (great hot chocolate thanks to Fit02). Rapid decent with caches along the way.

#91 The ninth cache of the day whilst climbing Mt Tennent with my dad. As we approached GZ, it was pretty clear where the cache was. Jumped down and opened the cache up to find a bit of water in it but the unfortunate thing was that the log book had more water! I tied to sign where I could but it was drenched! TFTC Tankengine!

Down in the ACT to visit family, who are all working today, so I've decided to climb a mountain!!

I left a bit later than I was intending on and made a stop at the visitors information centre to learn a bit more about this beautiful area of countryside.

Found this one without any drama and felt like my caching intuition had finally caught up with me again!

Was getting a little worried though about my progress up this mountain, It feels much later in the day than it actually is and there are some unusual clouds forming up top of the mountains behind me.

After arranging to tackle this series and a few extras today, the team consisting of Zangetsu, TheSkype and myself headed off on the Mount Tennent trek. After meeting up with the "Tennent Tragics" at the carpark, we split shortly after and made our own way onwards and upwards.
Nearing the top, we met up with Green-martian, who guided us down the rocky escarpment from the peak, down past "Tennent Trauma" and back to the vehicle(s) via the rock/mud slide and following the creek bed nearing the bottom. What an experience it was!
Apologies for the generic log(s), don't normally resort to this but with multiple logs it was to be.

TFTC and the series Tankengine!
Well worth it and thoroughly enjoyed.

Found with the Tennent Tragic Team on a great day's climb. Thanks for a great series TE - had a great day.

Another easy find again quite exposed to view, so after signing the log at 0950 it was returned with a bit more protection. We were greeted by a wallaby on approach to GZ but he was quickly gone. With the cloud cover increasing and the first spits of showers it was beginning to look like the weather might end our adventures prematurely; still, we pressed on. Thanks Tankengine.

It has actually been ages since I have been up Tennant. There had been plenty of plans but no real action for years so this weekend the opportunity finally presented itself for a very full on adventure taking on a wander around Corin and Mt Tennant all in one fell swoop with Noikmeister. Maybe I should say "most found by Noikmeister" because he was usually in front of me.

#9 Pheewww Will push on before another break...Dad And Three GeoKids sent off on an adventure to conquer the Tennent Trail. We headed out with plenty of water snacks and a portable BBQ for lunch on the way. Thanks Tankengine for the series.

Injuryman and I must have been enjoying the walk, because we went straight past GZ and had to double back and find this one.
