Logs
Wet day, lots of logs lying down the hill, almost gave up then found it. Thanks!
Second find for the afternoon, after grabbing the first O'Grady's cache. I still don't know why I didn't find these previously when I found the other 2 caches further along the track.Found after getting stabbed by some old dead fall. I believe this cache may have been placed according to the Tasmanian Geocache Placement rules ver 2.0.Thanks for the cache!
Today we went caching along the Bracken Lane Fire trail, the OGradys Fire trail and the Betts Vale track, to find the four caches in the OGradys series. We found all four, and got to walk along some tracks that we hadnt been before, and good weather meant that it was a great day for caching. We spent a long time looking for this one, and were about to give up when a likely location was spotted from the track. The log is a bit damp, but still able to be signed. Thanks for the cache OldSaint!
A sneaky hide but got lucky and spotted it after a short hunt. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
We think we found the spot but no cache there in think this needs checking up on
Found the tricky little fella after a bit of searching. The log could do with a freshen up but all good.
Spoon many muggles strolling and zooming past nearly gave up but found a break in traffic and had spied a potential hide from tye track so swooped in and got it done! Nice lil container invention btw, never seen one like that!
After easily a 15 minute search i was all at sea trying to locate this tricky hide with there being at least 4 or 5 logs that were laying downhill. So much woody junk under some of those logs i thought to myself: "This has gotta be easier than this environment" and after widening the search more toward the bigger tree close to the path it was Cache in Hand and i was chuffed as!
Located the rock and the wee cache that has relevance to that soft drink we all know and love that accompanies Bourbon like Man and Wife i was SL at 10:57 on Monday 31 January 2022.
The cache is in A1 condition but as per normal in this environment up here [even in Summer] the log was a wee bit moist but still signable
Re-hid as found

Given it was show day, we thought it would be good to get some caches we have been meaning to get in the Fern Tree area. This took a while to figure out which one was the right log but once we got that, the cache was an easy find. TFTC
Today we decided to head to South Hobart and surrounds and towards Mount Wellington to find a few more caches that we have not found and to make them a smilie. A great day out, not too cold, sun out allowed us to enjoy the great outdoors.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

This caused us some problems. We looked all around and could find nothing helpful. So we gave up. As I was walking away putting the next cache in my GPSr I saw something. We had to investigate and there was a cache. It felt good to find this cache.
DNF for today’s mess trees fell as can’t see rock on log , looked like stuck ...
Cant go there again till CO maintenance …

Tasmania Day 1: Hobart and Mount Wellington
Flew in from Melbourne in the afternoon, so spent the rest of the day around Hobart visiting some of the scenic spots around the city. After lunch, headed to the Royal Botanical Gardens for a visit before heading up to Mount Wellington for the views and a bit of hiking. Went to the city of dinner and to pick up a couple more caches. Great first day in this hilly city with magnificent views.
This is the specific log for this cache:
I must say, I don’t often approve of micros hidden in the woods, but this one has a nice title and the hint was helpfully precise, and a nice walk through the woods too. So, I am happy with this one. TFTC!

Today we thought we'd take a little walk to O'Grady's Falls, a beautiful spot that we'd visited before, but not since taking up caching - a perfect excuse for both a fun walk and a bit of caching!
We found this one relatively easily, but unfortunately forgot to bring a pen, so we were unable to sign the log. We can forward an image of the cache as proof of the find if necessary.
Thanks for giving us a great excuse to visit this great location again!

Had a pair of muggles ride past me on bikes while I was signing the log here but fortunately I had the cache palmed behind my drink bottle by the time they got to me so they couldn't see what I was doing. Another pleasant stop on a glorious day. TFTC!
Mr and Mrs banian's visit to Tasmania for a bit of a look around and a cache or two.
Gave a pair of Canadians a fright, they saw me disapear off the track and not knowing what i was up to he picked up a stick. I didn't try to explain geocaching, let them wonder what i was doing.
Signed log, TFTC .

This cache container could be seen from our approach at GZ . There were no stones covering the opening. We replaced the stones that were there, to cover the hide. Tftc
Out for a group adventure and figure a few caches along the way will be fun. Many thanks!!
Out on this crisp morning to get a few of the caches which have gone down since our last visit to Tas. TFTC
We set off early today as it was going to be a very warm day to collect 8 caches in the area and this was one of them. A nice quick find with the aid of the detailed hint. An enjoyable walk collecting caches along the way to the falls. TFTC
Good evening OldSaint, TFTC. Dropped by here on the way home after work and made it to GZ before the next shower. A quick find, a quick scribble, a quick replace, and a quick dash back to the car as that next shower began. Two more minutes and I would have been soaked! Drove home in the rain. Cheers.

TFTC! I like the creativity of this cache. In our mind its trash but another’s... it’s a cache... and we like it more being a cache..
Me and Mrs SSRat headed up the mountain to have a walk but after a short distance we turned back due to the cold and the wind so we stopped off on the way down to grab a couple of caches this was the second one and anotehr quick find
thanks for the cache.

Found before our trip up Mt Wellington. Did all 4 in the series and went to the waterfall.
Thanks for the cache.
#47 of Julz and Cathy's great Tassie Geocation.

This was another very easy find with the aid of the hint. I love the idea of this container. Cheap and easy to make.
This was find #47 of our caching trip around Tasmania. Thanks for the fun

Very cute cache tying in nicely with the cache name! And, yes, we were definitely following in another geocacher's footsteps today - and why not, days are longer, it's a bit warmer. All good! Thanks for the cache OldSaint.
Found with the geo-son during a Sunday morning bike ride down the mountain. Much better on this trail than dodging the cars on the bitumen stretch down from the summit. Many thanks OldSaint
This beautiful day had to be used for some more exploring of the region and good tramping training. 20km uphill from Sandy Bay to the top of Mt Wellington. A great winter day walk with many photos and caches on the way. Thank you to all the owners for giving me excuses for a break!
Walking through waterworks reserve my path was crossed by several Wallabies and many native birds. The tracks on the Mount were often icy, so be careful in winter! Not many people around at this time of the year but the summit view was as good as it can get!

Plan for the summer. Hike, 4wd and Geocache around Tasmania. It will be a great adventure. Cheers for all the caches along the way. I came out this way on new years day with no luck in seeing the sight. As the whole hill was surrounded in clouds. I headed back in today and hiked around a few of the trails. So many to choose from and a lot of caches to follow too. Thanks
Deercheetah, who know these mountain trails very well, took aus2 on a short walk today. The GPS was very unresponsive but his guides had previously found this series of caches so they were able to take him to the various GZs. No help was needed or given to locate this cache.
As already reported the log for this cache was just pulp / mush and fell into pieces, it was unreadable and unsignable. We always carry spare log sheets and bags of various sizes with us. We have replaced this one with a temporary sheet until CO wants to change it. It should last a long time unless it gets wet again.
Thanks for the cache (good name ) Old Saint.

Found on our morning walk. Log paper is a bit soggy. On to the next one TFTC
Found the cache quickly, but the log has pretty much turned into mouldering confetti!
Great little cache container

A nice walk to the cache. Nice container but the log was pretty much pulp. Tftc:)
Saved this one for the way back as we accidentally went past it on the way there. I like these containers but unfortunately the log has almost completely disintegrated. I tried to sign it but may have just made it worse. :/ TFTC
Found it whilst out for a walk today!
The log is starting to disintegrate a bit so could probably do with some fresh paper sometime soon.
thanks for the cache though! clever container

This was our third and last O'Grady's find today (having found one a while back). A very helpful hint made it easy so we found the cache and signed the log quickly. Now to backtrack a little bit and down to Jacksons Bend. TFTC
Found this cache in spectacular Tassie while on tour from Melbourne and headed to Bruny Island for the boat tour .

My grandad and I found this cache while on our first day of our Tasmania trip.
We continued on to this cache from the previous one in the series. It started drizzling and when we found the cache, the rain was much heavier. I spotted the hide almost instantly when we approached GZ. I also like the container - I think I know where the design came from.
We decided not to continue on with this series because of the rain. There's always a next time!
Our thanks to OldSaint and greetings from Canberra!

Great little container, the log is damp and hard to sign. I didn't have any paper with me to replace the log.
Thanks OldSaint

Had to take a quick trip up the mountain to recover the chip I had lost from the GPS 2 days ago on an FTF hunt. Found it lying in the bitumen where i had worked out it could have been lost - unbelievable. To celebrate picked up this cache and a couple of others on the way home.
Very clever little cache.

Dropped geokids and geodog at Springs to walk down finding caches. Located 3 of the O'Grady's series. Well done Old Saint. TFTC
A quick ride after going up and down the Pipeline Track. I had a physics teacher in Year 12 who always recommended using Brand X soft drink because of the reason listed in the name! Thanks for the series.
Another quick find. In fact I spied the spot before leaving the track.
Nice container.

Thanks.

The naming of the cache became apparent once it was found. However we don't really agree that it is always better with … TFTC OldSaint
The lower slopes of mount Wellington have a lot of tracks that can be used for a circuit walk, and today we went from O'Gradys, up Betts then on the north south to the Springs and down Radfords. On checking beforehand it was discovered that the took us past four caches that we hadn't yet scored.

A very neat little cache container. I loved the "obvious to a cacher" hide location that I don't think anyone else would ever investigate. Once again, an excellent hint - thanks oldsaint.
After finding four caches near The Springs, we came down the mountains to look for the four "O'Grady's" caches. As time was getting on, we decided that one of us would go down Woods Track and start from the northern end whilst the other would take the car to Bracken Lane and start from the southern end. Again, accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. TFTC OldSaint.
Another lunch break and another walk along this track. All in aid of completing a cache a day for August.
Shorter walk than yesterday and I was thankful as the weather had certainly turned for the worse.
Cache was found quickly (I had checked the location on the previous day to ensure a quick find today) and the log book was found.
Thanks for the cache Oldsaint. I will be back another day to find the first cache

A bit more of a challenging hide, but we found it in the end !
Thanks for the cache, OldSaint !
Thanks for the cache, OldSaint !
The GPS was indicating 15-20m above the track, but the hint helped us to find the cache without too much difficulty.
After cleaning up the caches on the NE end of the PTPT series we decided to attack this series. We enjoyed the stroll to the falls. A very pleasant path to a very picturesque location. Thanks OldSaint for bringing us here again. TFTC
My GPSr completely gave up and lost its satellite lock, so I had to use the iPhone, which proved more than adequate.
These remind me of JABs' containers.
Thanks.

Today there was enough time for a short afternoon walk and the first aim was to complete the rest of the O'Grady's Falls series. This was the second one and it was found quite quickly - an interesting and appropriate container. TNLN. Thanks OldSaint.
Hello Cobber
It was a very easy pleasant walk along to the second cache in the series.
This time my reading ability let me down again, so I searched in the wrong spot for a little while before reading the hint proper. Then the cache was easily found.
I wasn't as surprised to find an empty log book and another *FTF*.
Now off to the next one.
THANK you for the cache.
