Another quick find on the road to Stanthorpe. A large bearded dragon on the nearby fence post sat and watched me do the caching thing.
As per baby&Mrs gopher's log some TLC is required for this cache.
Thanks for the cache Rainforest Cookie.

Another fine day for a drive and a few caches on the way to Texas.
Not many muggles around today, and a good quick find here.

6598 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1140. Plenty of parking at this location and a surprise of what is located at this hide. Cache container has a small hole in the lid so placed it with the hole towards the bottom. SL Tnx Rainforest Cookie
Spending a few days in the local area and decided to pick up a few caches whilst out and about with geo friends. Very sad to see the seat, oh so young, RIP Bobsy. Thanks Rainforest Cookie for the neat hide and TFTC
This is an interesting location for a memorial. Our GPS took us away from the seat and towards an object with many potential hide locations. However many of the possible hide locations were stuffed with either empty stubbies or cans and there was quite a deal of broken glass - the irresponsibility of a small number of people was very disappointing. We finally located the cache in one of the possible hide locations. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Rainforest_Cookie for the cache.
Very interesting spot, do hope all those bottles belong to passengers and not drivers. Sun is out again today and have seen a few lace monitors dashing across the road. Took nothing left nothing (getting low on swaps) TFTC
I had unknowingly pulled up right next to Bobsys memorial. A fitting tribute to a mate and I'm guessing by all the bottles underneath, his mates must come here regularly to share a moment and a beer with him. Good on ya boys.
I hadn't actually zoomed in on my phone so I started looking at the carving for a cache when I realised my mistake. With that sorted I was straight onto it and soon enough another name was on the log.
Thanx again Rainforest Cookie

Back in Stanthorpe for a few days to clean up after Mega, where we spent most of the time on the Apples.
What a strange place indeed - a gate to nowhere (photo) - a strange park bench roughly hewn out of timber (photo) and a cache ion a fallen object. All interesting. I must say Bobsy's mates must spend a lot of time here judging by the large number of empty beer bottles under the seat!

Great seat - guess one could sit and watch life go by ? Sorry I can't waste time doing things like that- there's caches to be found and there's one close.
Signed logbook 11:23 am and replaced all as found.

had no idea what the name meant till we were leaving GZ and saw the chair, bit sad really, but happy that we found the cache mega quick, many thanx for the stop
Interesting place to stop. With 3 of us caching, it is making the finds a lot easier. Thanks Rainforest Cookie
Out for a great day of caching with Gram4380 and DarthKitty. An interesting memorial. Cache was found and signed. TFTC.
A beautiful old seat. It did look like it was used a bit as a drinking spot with bottles everywhere. After pulling up we headed towards GZ. A few GPS lessons in the process and the cache was soon in hand. Found in good condition. Thanks again Rainforest Cookie.

Day 6 of QLD MEGA for me.
I have to head further afield today to find a few caches.
I have enjoyed the MEGA and today seems to be cleaning up the remaining caches.
A quick find here and I had to try out the bench.
Thanks for the cache.

**this is a late log** I have recently made a major upgrade to my GSAK license and found this lovely feature that automatically tells me what caches I have marked found in GSAK but never logged on geocaching.com!! Yay, Clyde, you can have my money anytime! So, I attended the Stanthorpe mega at the request of several members of the organsing team. Having been to every event designated "Mega" in Australia up to this time I almost felt an obligation to oblige. I knew I would have fun catching up with the many friends I've made Australia-wide and that caching would be done -- and done it was! These are the finds I made while in the area and I enjoyed all of them despite the rainy and a tad cold weather. I cached with Uni, Shonky, and SX as well as Moneydork throughout the weekend. Thanks to all who placed caches in the region, they were all enjoyable.
We couldn't help but build a detour to Texas into out MEGA trip as we were caching with SEMIK, who is initially from Texas USA.
Well constructed tribute to Clayton . Wouldn't have known the story behind it if not for geocaching . Thanks Rainforest Cookie .
Passed this one on the way out but decided to do it on the return journey. Started raining again as we were looking but that is not a problem. What's a little water to cachers - just a minor inconvenience and a chance to cool down.

Glad it wasn't at the other end where there are heaps of bottles and cans shoved down the hollow.
An appropriate memorial for Clayton - wonder how he got Bobsy as a nick name?
Thanks Rainforest Cookie.

We have a few days to spend traveling from Bendigo to Stanthorpe for the Mega and we are going via Griffith, Cobar, Lightening Ridge and after a change of plan - Goondiwindi.
Today we are on the road to the Mega. What a lovely memorial to their mate - I particularly like the dead soldiers. It was here that we were first introduced to Farmer's Friend.

What a great memorial for a friend....and it appear his mates have had plenty of drinks with him, all the way to GZ in fact. We were also pretty impressed with the stone driveway entrance with the practically unused grid. Obviously a change of plan there. TFTC Rainforest Cookie.
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the Land Down Under" ...
Quick find as we drive toward Stanthorpe for the Mega 2015.

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We headed out here today to grab the few out along this road, and after a short drive, we soon arrived at GZ A pretty cool spot here, but as we approached GZ, we were a little sad about all of the rubbish. But after a quick search, we soon spotted the likely hiding spot, and sure enough it revealed the cache, so we added our name to the logbook, and headed off for a few more [^]

Second day of Northbound trip to a event (Meet the Canadians Again) Hosted by that Famous Caching Duo "Team Robins" in Stanthorpe Queensland. Thanks to all involved in making this trip so memorable
Found with Tassiegirl13 while on a weekend caching trip to attend the Meet the Canadians event out here.
Interesting little story about why this is here.
If not for the cache I guess we wouldn't have known.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Rainforest Cookie. We found your cache "Bobsys Gone Fishin." at 9:52:00 AM today.
This was our 2nd cache find in a caching run of 5 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9453.)
[Blue]
When we started our cache run today, the weather was absolutely miserable - cold and damp. As we approached this series of caches the clouds disappeared and the sun shone. On our return trip it certainly got colder again. (Maybe we should have stayed out caching much longer.
Every hole in the tree has something in it. Mostly beer cans or stubbies.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Dropped Trackable: "Arizona Desert Rat"
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

A quiet day today with a visit to friends in Texas on the agenda and hoping to pick up a few caches on the way just to keep the numbers ticking over. Thanks to Rainforest Cookie for hiding this cache.
We were pleased to have the opportunity to visit the other Texas today (we have we to the Lone Star State) and managed to find this cache on our way. A big thanks to Rainforest Cookie
This was a roadside memorial with a twist
Usually there is just a bunch of faded flowers, a little wooden cross or a weather beaten motorcycle helmet to commemorate the passing of those who added to the senseless road-toll
But a handsomely carved and well built seat is something different !!

Nice to see a memorial like this to a mate. Someone has also left a beanie in the tree I see, along with the various beer bottles. Good spot for a cache Rainforest Cookie. Cheers.
Progressively working my way south now to go west a little. Started out on the run to Texas at a reasonable hour. Giving the macropod family time to get off the road and back to bed, the live ones that is. Quick find at 1010. Sad story. Friends will remember. Very quiet. TFTC Rainforest Cookie
Well this was something different. We took photos of the seat and read the sad story. We inspected the stonework, closely, but had to widen our search. I have to say this is the first time I've seen both a beer bottle and a bone poked into handy holders. Getting a taste of the wild west as we journey forth.
What a lovely memorial to a young man who was too young to pass on. What a pity. His two great loves were fishing and woodwork. What a wonderful way to remember him. Thanks for bringing us here Rainforest Cookie. We see that his friends visit and have a drink to his memory, and some of those empty containers decorate a tree. We also ventured to the lovely set of stone gate posts that are quite impressive and don't appear to be used anymore. A great location for a cache - NINOSL.
