The construction work finished last week and access is now open. I checked GZ and found where all the work has been done. The old viewing platform has been demolished and a new, low level one with seating, has taken its place. The area around it has been cleared and grassed. It looks like a very spot for a picnic. To top it off, there is no longer any need to use the old access as a magnificent new, elevated, boardwalk with seats and more viewing platforms has been constructed. It now links up with the parking and picnic area behiond Swansea ccaravan park which has also had a make over.
There is nowhere to place a container near the old GZ so, in the very near future, I will find a different spot and create a new listing and archive this one.

Access still closed due to construction work. Will be away until Oct 3 when I will check it again.
Found where the old cache used to be.
Pretty sure we located GZ doe the new location and poked around the bush but we’re not overly keen to lunge hands into the spikes without spotting it

Our first cache in our new kayak, and a dnf. We searched for a good 40 minutes, but could not find it. If its on that structure, i am a monmkleys uncle, and we did broaden our search to the tree line, but no Hurrah! Its a land lubber cache anyway, so will come back some day.
This one took a while as we concentrated our attention in the wrong place. A nice quiet spot. TFTC.

If the rain and tides and time line up I may get to this one soon. Access can get flooded with heavy rain.
Hi there colleda.
This is the 2nd of 2 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]
We spent quite some time here, but even after being given specific instructions from a previous finder - we still couldn't locate your cache, so here's a DNF from us.
Regards
Ian and Penny

Here we searched quite a while and then phoned the owner. Even with his instructions we couldn't find it.
Later when we returned he told us, that he has been here in the meantime and couldn't find it either.

Found with Mad-Dawg while camping nearby. Very nice spot for a picnic and planning a kayak to get the sand island caches. TFTC!
Not the greatest terrain for a scooter, but we managed. Not where I thought it would be though. TFTC
Tried this one over 12 months ago but thought we come back and give it a try. Didnt look too much at the coordinates and just followed our insticts. TFTC
Went out for a morning walk to try and find this one. Found the mounting and thought I was out of luck. Read previous logs and persisted with the gps. Patience paid off. CIH after 15 minute search of the area.
I was not believing what the compass was telling me and I kept looking in the area of the previous cache. I found the mounting for it. I checked everywhere and found nothing. I decided to give up, as I had quite a few trigs left to find, but decided to trust the compass as I walked away. Damn! TFTC

We stayed in the area for a few days for a family gathering and decided to ration out caches as we needed to fill a few holes in our caching calendar.
This one was a pleasant early morning walk for Mrs Shifter. The cache took a few minutes to locate as the GPSr was a bit jumpy. First place searched was the general location of a cache we found here back in early 2006, but to no avail. The search was widened to nearby locations where we might hide one and it was located quickly.
Thanks for the hide colleda.

Came adventuring through the swamp and water to come across this little pearl, the geo dogs loved it
First find of the day. Came the wrong way in and had to wade. Then I had to disabuse myself of insisting on looking where I'd hide it. Finally trusted the excellent coordinates and made the find. TFTC.
Couldn't find this one either!!! But managed to get wetter, will come back another day.
Out caching with Kingfisher_au in order to collect gems and other caches for the mystery at the museum souvenirs. Headed off the wrong way to this cache but with the tide we managed to only get our shoes wet. Thanks for the cache.
Well we had been doing quite well up unto this point with assieben as i said we had , and we did decide to get the shoes the sox the pants wet for a lonely cache by the water
Found it. Ridden my bike to gab a couple i missed on the Fernleigh Track and end up on Coon Island. Not looking forward to the ride home though.TFTC.
Found with 5531! Tftc colleda!! I’ve lost all my cords so I’ll have to see which I’m missing and do the trail again .... should be easier this time
Checked today. All good. Had this one listed as micro instead of small. That's a change! Fixed it.
Found with Beary_Unicorns on a very hot Saturday morning, in between swimming at the beach, geocaching and swimming in the lake, visited trackables, tftc.

Oz Geo Muster weekend Easter 2018. Day 3. Today I headed out with Fitzy_1965 and Minnek for a lap around Lake Macquarie and lots of caching in the bright sunny heat of the central coast. No luck for us either.
Thanks.

Thanks.

No luck with this one despite a lot of looking (in between muggles). Felt like I should have found it but no.

We attempted this one yesterday by kayak but left empty handed
A super quick check by the CO meant we could attempt it overland today

After looking for a while... the clue finally made sense. But no cache could be found.
After attending today's event and grabbing #7, I was able to complete the series with a quick find on this one, beaching my kayak at a gap in the stone wall close to GZ.
Many thanks for the hide and the series.

Headed up to Swansea to attend the Event and took the chance to complete the Sand Island series. A beautiful morning for a paddle and a really enjoyable set of caches. This was #8 and the final for the day.

Heading over to the Event it was good to see the two disabled ones up and going again. We launch from the south as we tried to catch up with Team Canary and Purple People Eater who had launched before us. Good conditions for padding as we made our way around. We searched with PPE and TC for a while before the hide was found. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Our final find on the water with Purplepeopleater.
We were distracted elsewhere till I explored further afield and made the find.

Thanks Colleda, Found this with some friends on a visit from Newcastle on Tyne. They were impressed with the Newcastle on Hunter area and this location was no exception.
easy find as it was out in the open. Tried to hide it best we could- very windy so fingers crossed the camo stays put!
Find #796
After spending the morning geocaching without finds, we went for some smilies. We hadn't done anything around Pelican/Swansea for a while, so set sights here. The Sand Islands series is very high on our list, we are really now just waiting on an OM round and we'll be there....
We dodged the bees near GZ (Samuel will post coords for the nervous), made a quick find, a newly maintained cache with a crisp logsheet. We swapped a pathtag for a 2c piece. As we got back near the carpark saw a small dead snake on the side of the road....
