A nice easy find on our way to our Tassie holiday. We decided to kill some time as the boat got delayed a few hours. So we picked out this like as a good spot and I am glad we did. We managed several caches and a good walk with our boys.

Despite whines from our eldest son who is only 5 years old complaining his feet were wobbly, we managed to get to this hide. We were impressed by the construction here. We love a good camo. Well done. + Fav Points from all four Fergzters

Catching up on logs. Quick tour around the lake today. T4 the fun

24-Jan-16
This was in one of the loveliest parts of the lake circuit. After being shielded from view for much of the walk, the vista towards the water which was teeming with bird life was magical! And the shady trees were a lively respite on this warm afternoon.
Geokids were searching away when I decided to have a look and found it straight away. Haha love when that happens.
Very nicely constructed cache here.
Decided this would be the perfect spot to sit and calculate the final, which was successfully completed.
Whilst doing the workings out we ran into fellow cachers - always such fun! It's great to see their faces when you say "we know what you're doing..." Hahaha.
TNLNSL returned as found. TFTC Smile

Our littlest cacher (7 yr old) found this one for us. Love the excitement of finding it and then seeing her workout how to open it. Every cache is unique and special. I loved this one. And more cherries too! TFTC

9/11 They were waiting right near the next cache. I did loud snake-repelling marching and for the first time heard a little rustle beside me in the rocks. nearly jumped out of my skin when I glanced sideways and saw something moving in there till I realised it was the other end of a stick I had stood upon. I got the cache - beautifully made hide. We signed and replaced, with a wary eye on the rocks.

27-Oct-15
Beautiful work on this little beauty - well worth going out of way to snap up a few along the trail.

After picking up a few in the HX area both Mel & I decided upon a quick walk around the lake - HAHA and quick walk ended up taking us across the other side of the lake - This is the first time I have made the effort to walk it - well worth the effort.
The hide:
A nicely engineered hide - well executed. It put a huge smile on Mel's face when she spotted it - thou she couldn't figure the extraction process - move aside me says .... and in no time the stash was in hand signed and returned.

Shall recommend.

I'm from Tas and I've been struggling to find clever caches in Melbourne to show my Dad! I'm glad we chose to go to Altona today! Thanks!

Being one of the first sunny days this spring, we were very cautious here, especially with a sign telling us of the high risk of the wriggly things. But we saw none and were able to grab this cache with ease. We sat on the nearby seat to sign the log, which was just as well, because a family of muggles appeared out of nowhere. Replaced easily once they had passed. Thank you again mudbrick.

22-Aug-15
Nicely built cache! TFTC

15-Aug-15
Found by Mary & David at 1720. Getting late in the afternoon, now. An absolute dream to see so many pelicans out on the lake nearby. There was also a muggle photographer with a tripod set up to photograph the pelicans and other birds. He was quite engrossed in his work, so we managed to access the cache in stealth mode without distracting him. Our thanks to mudbrick.

09-Aug-15
Decided to head out late in the afternoon for a walk around Cherry Lake with Geofamily. Hopefully we collected enough clues for the Mystery Cache. TFTC & the series!!! Smile

I'd had my eye on this series for a while now and today the chance arose to go for a bit of a drive out this way, so I packed the bikes and 5 year old in the car and we headed off. I didn't even realise this reserve and walking path existed but it's a beautiful space and a nice way to spend a sunny winter afternoon. Not that many people around so we had the path mostly to ourselves which allowed us to move around at a gentle pace to enjoy the scenery and the interesting range of different geocaches. At GZ here we had a great view of a group of pelicans out in the middle of the lake and a close up view of two of the beautiful black swans who swam over to investigate what we were doing. A great deal of effort has gone into the range of hides here and this one is certainly an example of that. Thanks for the cache mudbrick.

This was a great hide, I knew where it was, just had to work out the mechanics of it. Well done Mudbrick, you've set out a great group of caches, thank you for a day out with littlemsminty and sierra117. TFTC

Manzie and I headed out today to complete the caches surrounding Cherry Lake and have a nice walk in the process. When we started our walk there were a lot of muggles around enjoying a barbecue. Please don't let them all start walking around the lake anytime soon ... Predictably, the muggles did enjoy a stroll around the lake, but they were long gone now, so we able to relax and complete the rest of the series without fear of being questioned. We were enjoying the thought that has gone into these caches—nice to see something a bit different! Manzie quickly made this find whilst I sat on a nearby bench and instructed him on what he needed to do to extract cache. I quickly signed the log and we were on our way again—only one more, then just the final to go, TFTC!

I found this cache today at 10:35am as number 9 of 17 on my Altona Morning Ramble. Back down the hill and past my first cache find on Cherry Lake about 10 years ago. went too far back before spotting the cache closer to the path. Nicely made again. With 5 of 6 of the available clues, I put in the co-ords that I had with a guess on the last one, now to see if it comes off. Thanks from D B-A.

For Labour Day, the GeoFamily decided they wanted a geocaching day. Looking around Melbourne, we decided on Cherry Lake and all the caches in the area. This one was our tenth find for the day. Found at 2:03 PM. This one was very easy. A quick find, sign and replace. TFTC.

03-Mar-15
So to continue my 100 in 100 streak I thought I might start making my way through each of these caches around the lake. It is a beautiful area and I enjoyed the partial walk around it today. The cache container is very imaginative with a great view across the nesting area of the lake. Fav point from me for the location and time to make the container, and TFTC

03-Mar-15
Yet another cache we had to wait out the muggle population. It was all good though, a nice big rock gave me quite the comfortable seat. Another great piece of construction, extraction was as smooth as silk. Slowly making our way around this great setting. TFTC mudbrick. Big Grin

Were here on passing holiday and collecting caches, what a great series, seen plenty of rabbits along the tracks, butterflies fluttering around. variety of hides and techniques, when we started it the weather was cooling down after a HOT day and as we were half way it started to rain, how refreshing. TFTC

We have really appreciated the work the CO has put into these cache hides- fantastic. Another great hide in really good condition. We sat on the rock and enjoyed watching the fish jumping, the pelicans and the blue wrens. Thanks again for bringing us here.

This series has been on my list for a while. I was going to watch the last day of the Boxing Day test, but the spitting rain meant that it was on and off. It seemed like a great opportunity to head out and tick this series off. I started in the rain with my coat on, then the sun came out and by the time I got back to the car it was 27 deg C.

Really enjoyed the series and thank for putting this together. Smile

Great spot in the shade for a break nice cache replaced pencil

During my work and travel year in Australia I'm trying to solve my 365 days of caching challenge. Having a moving home zone should make this definitely way easier.

After I found the Altona Story yesterday I got enough time today to walk around the Cherry Lake.
I was a bit worried, because these caches haven't been found for more than one and a half months, but luckily most of the boxes could be found right away and were in a good condition.

A few weeks with fallen leafs and dirt, soI started digging through the stuff. After a while I looked to the side and found the box. Yes Rico, think first, dig later!

TFTC and greetings from Germany

30-Aug-14
This was a fairly quick find but then the muggles came and stayed. Two of them were interested in some shrub right next to GZ, so we were unable to return the signed log and its container to their home. These people must have counted every leaf on the bush but did not seem to be cachers. Hmm, when they finally came out of the bush, while we were still watching the pelicans from the nearby seat, they inspected a sign on the other side of the path. Having finished studying that sign, they crossed back to our side and investigated the sign that advertises the upcoming works to improve the area. When they FINALLY, and slowly, moved on, two more muggles came from the other side.
After sitting around much longer than intended, we were finally able to return the cache and move on.
Oh, and as to the collective nouns: English is an odd language indeed!

24-Aug-14

Lots of new collective nouns that I didn't know.
An ingenious cache that has taken time to construct. Thanks mudbrick.

Out and about with Echidna44 for the day. We did this the wrong way round so this ended up being last instead of first. Really enjoyed our walk and the caches that you have made. There has been a lot of effort to bring a lot of smiles. Nice easy find. The name says it all. What a wonderful park this is but we struck a very windy day.
Thanks for the caches mudbrick
