Found with SSRAT AND GOOSE,They were in Australia for a few days and planned a big trip to smash some smilies over a cpl states and about 4000 lga's !! I LOVE OLD BRIDGES and railway stuff ... this was a COOL TRIP !Lots of laughs had and we didnt even kill each other after 4 days TFTC

24-Oct-24
The toolman seemed to thing we needed a 500m walk to find this one. We could have parked a lot closer but it's true, I do need the exercise. The cache was tucked away nicely! We wondered about some of the older infrastructure here, assuming it was the remnants of an old bridge. Thanks BlatherskiteOur four day boys trip was an 1800km dash from Melbourne Airport into southern parts of NSW, caching in 19 different LGAs. After an overnight near Melbourne airport, the toolman picked us up and we were off. Overnight stops were in Deniliquin, Ariah Park and Albury with a small selection of caches in each LGA unless there some more exciting ones to make us hang around a bit longer. The toolman finally filled his D/T grid. Lots of laughs, lots of insults, a good number of caches, but not enough sleep! Thanks to all the COs that made the trip a fun adventure. The 2nd cache of the trip and another by the same CO and since Goose has a love of multi's this was the other choice for this LGA of Mansfield just in case the last oen didnt work out. This one was a bit of a walk but we needed it do to all the driving we had done and were about o do.This was a mainland trip from Tassie to do a couple of things, we wanted to grab a few LGAs and also the big item was to finish of the DT grid of 1Toolman.We landed late on Wednesday night and after a good night at the Melbourne Novotel Toolman picked up and drove us North for 3 days of caching before he brought us back on Sunday night, we had a great time with lots of caching and lots of laughs.Found on 24/10/2024 at 12:36:00 thanks to Blatherskite for placing this cache for me to find. 16-Mar-23
We are on our way to Wangaratta for a few days caching and are making a few stops on the way for caches. We were able to park reasonably close to GZ and after a short walk we arrived at the likely spot. Initially nothing of interest was seen but with the help of some illumination the container was spotted - but retrieval was an issue. Eventually we were able to sign the log and replace. Thanks to Blatherskite for the cache.

13-Feb-23
This was the first of 8 rail trail caches of yours that I found in the sun today.
This may well have been the trickiest retrieve amongst the web's under there.
But I got there.
Growlers Gully looking damp and stagnant.
Thanks for the series blatherskite.

A trip to check out all the awesome places in eastern Victoria. TFTC.

A very challenging find today with OHC after a car rally in the area. OHC wouldn't give up, even though her knees wanted to! TFTC

12-Mar-22
In Alexandra hosting a weekend of camping and adventure. The car rally this morning was a success and after a nice lunch it was time to head back to camp for some rest before the campfire disco!

I parked nearby and took a short walk to GZ. Covered in dirt and webs I soon located the well hidden cache. With the log signed it was back to the car for the last part of the journey.

Thanks Blatherskite for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

12-Mar-22
Found during a long weekend, camping just outside Alexandra.
After an enjoyable car rally in the area, we stopped here on the way back to camp.
Four of us were about to give up when I spotted the sneaky bugger.
Now looking forward to getting back to camp and laying in the hammock with a bevvy or two.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, Blatherskite

Another tall grass adventure to get to this one a bit of searching ground soon had it found. Thanks

19-Feb-22
Looked around for ages pretending to be a billy goat rather than a sheep who were bleating at us nearby, without any luck. We then spotted it on the ground near the water luckily it was all dry. After signing the log we replaced it up where we suspect it fell from.
Thanks Blatherskite for the placement.

09-May-21
Found at 11:20 am.
With the rumour of a potentially new LGA challenge coming out I had only found 1 whole cache in this LGA zone so today we went for a drive to rectify that problem and mainly spent time parking near the rail trail and finding the rail trail caches like this one. We finished the area with a nice 4WD adventure into that big hill just sitting there.
Fairly quick find once we chose the correct side. Next time we'll both go on opposite sides.
Thanks Blatherskite for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Find #4393. Found @ 16:31

The plan for today was "Centurion Centroid Challenge" [GC59WFG] based, namely finishing it.

I recently was in Chicago for work and before I went I noticed that the center of all my caching finds was around the Kinglake area, approximately 50km from home. The first and second criteria of the caching centroid challenge requires that work out your centroid and it is over 100km from home.

A bit of tinkering within GSAK and I worked out that each find I made in Chicago would move my centroid about 1km away from home, so all I had to do was find 50 or so caches in the couple of days that I was overseas. With a day either side of the client visit, and some after work outings I was able to squeeze in 61 finds and 1 event (plus 10 DNFs) bringing my centroid to 106kms from home. Step 1 and 2 complete!

Step 3 was work out the closest cache to that point... uh, a slight problem with that being a T5 technical tree climb with a bonus included of access by boat, making step 4 (find it) an issue. Maybe I'll find some more Melbourne based caches to shift to a more achievable target. Another 21 finds around the Mornington Peninsula and my centroid was moved to S 37° 17.487 E 146° 00.216, with the closest cache being Wilson! [GC5D6AP].

Since I was in the general area and I also had a hole in my find stats for the Mansfield LGA area, I decided to fix that problem as well. A "short" 1 hour 4 minute drive, and a bit of a stroll later and that was fixed.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Blatherskite

Finally got to have a couple of days off so I headed up to Molesworth for a few days of R&R and caching.
After setting up camp I ventured off for the afternoon to find a few caches and tour the country side.
I started this series a while ago so i finally made my way back up to this area.
Well I have cleaned out the spider webs for the next finder as I’m not fond of them but you gotta do what you gotta do to find a cache.
Thanks Blatherskite TFTC.

On day 5 of our annual caching blitz holiday and today we have a mission , to see if we can get our 7000 before the new year. #6989. On our circuit around Eildon. Hoping to be able to get to some of the rail trail ones. This one tested the bravery of spider phobic geomember, resulting in cache being thrown into blackberries when startled. Not to worry retrieved and replaced safely with only minor blood loss. Tftc

Today we rode the Great Victorian Rail Trail from Mansfield to Alexandra which provided the opportunity to seek out 14 geocaches of which I found 11, not being willing to spend more than a few minutes in each search. This cache was a straightforward find, being more or less on the coordinates. Thank you Blatherskite for installing and maintaining this cache.

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.

We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.

Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.

Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

18-Nov-17
In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.

We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.

We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.

We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.

Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.

Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!

Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.

Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.

Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

Alexandra to Benalla - can't be all that far really! It is the little breaks to find caches such as this one which make the trip take a little longer, adding immensely to the interest of the journey. Enjoyed reading the history of the trail.

My wife and I have now finished the Rail trail from Tallarook to Mansfield over at least 3 years (you can't rush these things). We have only used one vehicle so have ridden each section in both directions. We have found nearly all of the caches along the trail. Over the past three days we have ridden from Mansfield to Yarck and finished off with a ride from Yea through the tunnel to Native Dog road. I will log the caches we found from Mansfield to Yarck. Thank you Blatherskite for the caches.

Suscoe had a big day today heading off bright and early to get around here to start the day at this cache, Over 100 kilometres to find the first one and then we found caches one by one on the way back to Eildon.
It was a delightful day, lots of fog early and then a sunny and mild day emerged.
Thanks to Blatherskite for this hide, a nice spot again for a cache.

27-Nov-15
We decided to look for some caches in this area as we came back from Wangaratta to Melbourne via a route other than the Hume Highway. We managed to find a safe parking spot on the side of the road and from there it was a shortish walk through grass of variable length to get to GZ. Once there, accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Blatherskite for the cache.

Decided to get out for a walk and after grabbing the first few in the car , then on foot for the section around the lake, nice series

16-Nov-15
Found with Mtrax on our drive home from Melbourne. We came down from Canberra to attend the Melbourne mega Event! And of course, find a few extra caches while we were down here! It was a nice drive, with plenty of caches found along the way. The only issue was - I had loaded 6000 caches into my GPS (just to cover me for the trip Smile) using a ggz file, but it seems the GPS wasn't happy about that! Luckily Mtrax had a smaller ggz file, so I copied that one, and all was good. We found 162 caches all up over the long weekend, can't complain about that.

Thanks for the cache BK

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Blatherskite. We found your cache "GRHC RAIL TRAIL # 8 (GROWLERS GULLY)" at 3:30:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 10460.
[Blue]
This is our second day on the Geo-tour, so please forgive our boilerplate logs, hopefully they won't detract from the great caches we found today.

Once again our day started before the birds. We watched the the sun rise through the early morning mist and the smoke from the reduction burns that were carried out while we were out yesterday.

Again we started out wearing jumpers as the thermometer said it was only eight degrees this morning, but pretty soon we had our jumpers off and were down to our usual shorts and tee shirts as the day warmed up.

Of course we also had to collect all the other caches that were on our route as well. Thanks for making the day so interesting.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 6m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
