Logs
Found with JaffaJ while doing some walks while at Binna Burra for a quick overnight stay to support a Scout journey. Fantastic to be back in the area enjoying the tracks after many years. Dropped a trackable and retrieved a trackable. Log book is damp. TFTC
Followed the waypoints in the previous logs in for a nice quick wall and find. Beware of the Gympie Gympie bushes along the walk and at GZ. It got my right thumb and certainly gives pain. Tftc SL. Notebook is wet but signable. On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Found TFTC SL Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
Out on the caching trail again with alphag_25. Going for some old caches today and some others local to those. Easily found today on a quite humid day, wouldnt like to do these in the height of summer. Beware the nasty trees guarding the cache.
On a beautiful Easter weekend, we were staying up on this beautiful area. This was the first of a day spent hitting the trails in search of some caches. Cache was easy enough to find but not as easy to sign. The container and logbook were waterlogged. I did my best to dry it out and leave my mark.
Saw this oldie in the vicinity after trekking out to Split Rock. Very happy to claim a very oldie.
It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since I was last here with Patrol14…
Today, a very last minute’s decision was made to make this our target for the today… so with time constraints this was our only find around Binna Burra…
After enduring PirateLinda’s rally style driving up the mountain, with her steadfastly ignoring my requests to drive in the middle of the road, we made our way down to the cache with me removing slithers of the dashboard from under my fingernails…
The container was found without further issue, and although the log is damp, we were able to sign without issue…
Very happy to finally find this Q100 cache…

Lovely drive up to Binna Burra with Peppa and PirateLinda. Short walk down the track. Great spot. First trip to Binna Burra. Tftf
First find for a weekend away with the girls. Easy little walk off the road in sandals. TFTC
Girls weekend away.
First find of the day. Not your usual caching bunch that’s for sure. I’m really glad to have ticked another oldie of the list. TFTC. Found with Ali, Sarah, Casey and Rach. Muggle and her baby too.

Was out and about today with 1MinnieMoo, SaintsMadHouse and KBreeAHH. I think I was the only one who had not found this one so I went off on my own to grab it. I was hapy to go searching for it but I had to fight a lot of Cobblers Pegs in order to get it.
Staying at Bonna Burra for a few days and doing some of the walks around the National Park. Today we did lower bellbird circuit and came across this one close to the finish. It was a spectacular walk on a very good track – it has only just been reopened and has been done up quite well. The cache was in an obvious spot, well described in the notes and the hint. Log was slightly damp but very easy to sign. TFTC
Another day out caching with Peppa and a road trip up to Binna Burra to have a look around as well as grab this oldie. Found the 2 entry points, the one closest to the cache has Construction Site signs and orange tape stopping us from entering that way and the report of Gympie Gympie in the area, put us off walking the longer route. Maybe another day wearing clothing suitable for this area and not shorts.
Wahooooo Q100 time! This has been one of the 5 closest Q100 caches for quite some time. Today, after dealing with some work requirements, I set off to enjoy the Gold Coast hinterland before cactching up with other cachers that evening. Love the history here, I would love to have known what this place looked like the day the cache was placed.
Watch out for the large, prolific gympie gympie in the area. Thankfully, I was able to avoid it on the way to and from the cache. Lots of lady beetles and flowers, so a great walk.
I have also replaced the container and log - it is evident a prior cacher has done their best to replace the cache with what they had in their bag, but this replacement provides a more appropriate size reflective of the listing and area.

Staying in the area for a day or two. This oldie was close enough for a quick grab. All good here.
Today, I joined GurTheWanderer and karicka with a planned Lamington National Park hike around Ships Stern circuit. We commenced the hike from Binna Burra via the Bellbird track, which then connected into the main circuit trail, and returned via Tullawallal circuit link. We ended up hiking approximately 24 km with the short detours to Ballunjui Falls. Following our hike, I slowly returned to Brisbane, stopping in Beechmont, Witheren, and Canungra to pick up a few geocaches, and the tramway history was quite interesting.
Whilst hiking the path nearby, I really wanted to grab this oldie cache, as it was hidden in 04/2002, and is one of Queensland's 100 oldest (and active) geocaches. The other guys in the group had already found it, but they allowed my expedited detour and search, of which it was a reasonably quick find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks StewPat & Spider for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Headed up here after a waterfall walk in beechmont.
Wet underfoot and plenty of stinging trees around GZ.

Another oldie on the list found. A nice little walk down to this cache. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks StewPat & Spider. Now back for lunch and watch the paragliding.
Well we made this cache harder than it needed to be!!
Having just walked over 10km around the tracks at Binna burra, we pulled in beside a track entrance on the way out. Headed down and came to the ‘intersection’ waypoint, we continued along and then realised we were walking away from the cache! Looked back at the waypoints and realised we overshot the ‘coastal view’ wp! Back up we trudged, oh and it was well raining at this point! Didn’t find the coastal view but found the big, wide track we somehow missed, and now the gps was counting down!
As we neared the GZ we noticed a ‘big’ tree and thought yay! Started searching but no luck.... JDavs stepped back out on the track to reassess and realised we were looking under the wrong big tree!!!! Our tree was tiny compared to that big tree!
Finally at the right tree, I guided JDavs around the gympie gympie and we easily found the cache. Names now in the log we had to laugh at how difficult we made that! Back to the car wet and muddy but happy to bag another old cache.

A hasty plan was made for today, considering the previous plan to attend a rather special event got the COVID treatment, and we decided the day deserved some celebration regardless.
So after the prioritised coffee pickup, Pprime next picked up Fangsoki and I, and we headed off south to meet up with Crew153 for some Binna Burra adventure.
Having done our main little hike for the day, Pprime wanted to check in on this one, and as I was the only one in the group who didn’t have it, I was definitely along for the journey.
We found a good spot to pull up and begin our short walk down, and it didn’t long before we arrived at GZ where it was rather noticeable that a thorough search had been performed here recently. We too began our search and it wasn’t long before I noticed something a little different, and quickly uncovered the cache.
Log signed we headed back up the wall to the car and off for a few other small adventures a little further away.
Thanks for the cache StewPat & Spider.

Another of the great hike's ticked off today. A very early departure from Brisbane ( 0430 ) had us at Binna Burra , kitted up and ready to go at 0630. First stop Mt Hob Wee then onto Mt Merino. We decided to head back to Binna Burra via the waterfall track ( Coomera circuit ) which showed us some great waterfalls and swimming holes. This track was far more challenging with the ups and downs and creek crossings but well worth the effort.
As Beardman mentioned , multiple geocacher's searched thoroughly for this cache with no luck. Having disturbed the nearby ants nest's and dodging the stinging plants for long enough, it was decided to leave a replacement cache at GZ before heading back home to Brissy.

Come for a walk he said, you’ll enjoy it he said. What was a planned 22k walk turned out to be 30k. I will admit it was a great walk and I will be feeling the effects for a few days to come.
We started at 6.30am with a gradual climb to MT. Hob wee then over to Mt. Merino, some nice trails and some spectacular views along the way. There was the usual banter and a lot of laughs to be had as the trails did not really push us much on the way up. We found the info for Hob Wee and worked out the finals.
Over at Mt. Merino we could not find the tag and message the CO. Then started our return to Binna Burra, the paths we took were via a very stunning waterfall track (the Coomera circuit) and this was an amazing walk, but with all downs there has to be an up and sure enough the ups soon started and zig zagged up the mountain side. The distance away from GZ was 1.8k’s however that was by geobird and not by trails and that 1.8 took what seemed like hours.
Reaching a junction in our walk we bumped into the CO’s who kindly helped us with the information we needed for the finals for Mt. Merino.
It was truly a rewarding day and I must go back, those waterfalls are really awesome. A big thanks to those who organised the day, our tour leader Beardman75 and the CO for replacing the caches in time for us to find.
On our way home we decided to grab this one as we hadn’t had enough walking for one day. We spent over 30 minutes here till it was called and a replacement cache was placed. I got hit by an ants nest and then a quick touch by the Gympie Gympie tree, ouch.

Had a great time climbing Mt Hob-Wee and Mt Merino today. Been wanting to tick this oldie for quite awhile. Glad I'm with like minded friends to look for this one. We spent quite some time looking, poking and reading. In the end a unanimous decision was made.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here StewPat & Spider.

We did a 25km hike from Binna Burra this morning and decided to stop and grab this one before leaving. I was worried about the track being closed but the sign at the trailhead made it clear that it is only the Great Walk portion of Lower Bellbird that is closed. On the walk down to GZ, I was relieved to see that the fire hadn’t reached this area and I was hopeful of finding the container despite the 15 months since the last find. At GZ, we made a methodical search of the area around the tree, carefully raking back the deep mounds of bark and leaves back to bare dirt on all sides of the tree. We also search a few metres out from the tree in all directions. I was stung several times by the Gympie Gympie but I think everyone else managed to avoid it. After about half an hour of searching, we all came to the conclusion that it must, somehow, be missing. We decided to leave a small container with a log to keep this one alive.

First to find for many months! Certainly buried well under lots of tree-bits and bark! TFTC
On a day trip to Binna Burra with Nobby's Nuts and this was the target cache for me today.
Nobby and I took the stroll down the hill and it wasn't long before we had both brushed the Gympie Gympie bushes near GZ. Luckily it was only slight touches before I realized what it was and we avoided any further contact while we searched.
It took a while for us to search a lot of different spots without finding the cache and we were both getting frustrated. The sting from the tree was not helping ou disposition but I was determined that we should find the cache.
It was Nobby who managed to stand in the right spot so that his foot removed some of the covering from the cache.
Another of the oldest 100 caches ticked off my list.
We headed back out but not before I briefly brushed a knuckle against the nettles again.

Good spot just be mindful of stinging plants while in the scrub. Got us bad and ruined the end to a good walk.
Finally after a long stretch we had arrived for today's target cache. After our last visit to Canungra we made a plan to revisit to grab some older caches but still make it back to the pub for a pizza lunch.
Entering the trailhead I was confused by the feet spray apparatus as I hadn't come across one before. Not being one to buck the trend we both sprayed our feet hoping it wouldn't make them slippery. I had already introduced my bum cheeks to the ground a couple of times already this morning.
The birds were chirping and we made our way down to the cache. It was hanging out a bit so we made a quick find, covered it a bit better and started our walk back to the car. The walk down didn't seem steep but out of nowhere my son and I were looking at each other huffing and puffing. I don't think the hill was that steep but we were suddenly focusing on a feed and were walking a lot quicker than normal. Sometimes patience is a virtue and sometimes it just gets in the way of a belly-full of food. tftc

A fun little hike to the cache. Saw a couple friendly wildlife. Love GZ — especially since the sun was sinking and the shadows were large. TFTC
Out with Selva Girls collecting some fine old caches in the area today. We made the short walk in to this cache, enjoying the birdsong as we went. Not much in the way of views since the trees have grown, but plenty of wildlife around to admire. I approached gz and made a grab for the cache, only to have a nest of ants pour out of the space behind it. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough and one got me on the ankle before I could brush it away. Very painful bite that was hot and swollen for a couple of days and itchy for the rest of the week. Be careful future finders! I added my name to the log from the safety of the track an made an extremely quick return. Tftc StewPat & Spider
Well I didn't expect the welcome I got at this cache, some damned little freeloaders attacked both me and Muggle son and we couldn't get away fast enough. Some 8 hrs later and we still have vivid memories of the little pests but am I pleased to have that "Oldie" signed and replaced. Beautiful area otherwise. TFTC
Another one to tick off the target list. A pleasant stroll down going past a pretty big Lizard that we stopped to admire for a short time. The bird calls in here were pretty cool sounding as well.
Another old cache on our target list for the day. Easy stroll down to the cache, a bit more energy required to get back to the car! TFTC.
It was a lovely quiet drive up here today and I really enjoyed the walk to get to GZ whilst admiring all the plant life along the way. The cache was found in good order and I picked up a TB to move on.

What a beautiful location and the size of that tree is huge! Ended up swapping Monkey with Rio to join us on our ongoing caching adventures. Thank you StewPat & Spider for the cache
After the lengthy but thoroughly enjoyable Ship's Stern walk, we decided to pop in here to add another to our respective Oldest and Finest lists. Super Seff had done all the hard work on his last visit and today we reaped the fruits of his labour.
Although we had to watch our step for stinging plants, the cache looked good enough to have been placed there yesterday. Great to see this one alive and well, and worth that final hill back up which tested out my sore knees at the end of a long day.

I am finally able to say I have found this one. Every time I come to this area for one of the bigger hikes, I see this one and think that I must do this one on the way home. By the time I finish my other walk I am far too tired to attempt this one. Fortunately today I am joined by a few others who like the older caches. We took the time (after a 24km trip around Ship Stern) to grab this one!
Thanks for the cache!

Saturday. Slow Puncture made a trip out today with Swellerfungus and friends. Primarily to get Ship's Stern but this one was on the way back, so why not? .
After hearing there was an oldest and finest right near where we were, Slow Puncture jumped at the chance to collect this one. Walking down the pathway, we went past lots of wild raspberries and also the most gympie gympie bushes I have ever seen. Some bushes were no longer bushes, but large trees! Good reason to stay on the path… Cache was quickly located, signed and replaced. Another smiley for today. I managed to pick up some unwanted wildlife collecting this cache, but managed to ditch them all when getting back into the car. Very nice location up here.
This was the 2nd of 2 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***StewPat & Spider***, for showing us this place.

This is one of those caches that you are always meaning to do but never quite get around to it. I have been in numerous long walks around the Binna Burra area and have always meant to stop off on the way home but whenever the time comes it's always "well I'm a bit tired/sore/stiff, I'll get it next time". Inevitably, next time is always the same excuse. Today's walk to Bogabahn Falls cache meant that our route took us within 300m or so of this cache. One again the excuses were ready to flow, but some encouragement from my fellow walkers meant I ducked off to grab it while they chatted up some other walkers heading along the track. I arrived at GZ and couldn't initially locate it. With logs showing an easy find I was becoming dismayed and with my fellow walkers still waiting I was getting antsy. Finally I located it and was able to place my name in the log at long last. TFTC
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
We set off today in search of a few of Queensland's Oldest Caches and this one was first up on the list for us. We headed south and soon found ourselves at a familiar parking spot where we headed down the trail and followed the 4WD tracks all the way to GZ. A quick search of the area and we soon had the cache in hand and added our name to the logbook [^]

A second long walk while we're here celebrating our wedding anniversary. Started a bit late on this one so was a bit worried about getting back before dark. Picked this cache up along the way - thanks.
I have left this cache for a day when I did a half day walk from Binna Burra. Having had an early start and made good time out to Araucaria Lookout and back this morning, I was heading back down the hill before lunch and decided it was time to stop for this oldie.
I followed my nose and soon enough was looking at a grand old tree. It took me a couple of circles around it to find it - a bit cache blind today. Many thanks, StewPat & Spider

This was the last cache that NurseyJulie and I were targeting for the day. As one of the older caches, it was definitely a "must do". We parked on the side of the road just near the trailhead. We cleaned our boots at the cleaning station before we continued along the trail. I have never seen one of these before, but think it is a great idea to help protect our vulnerable flora and fauna. Further along the track, we came across an area that was being regenerated. Near there, we were able to see the new accommodation at the Binna Burra resort hanging on the side of the mountain! Once we passed the regeneration area, we realised that we had missed where we should have turned off. We carefully cut through the regeneration area and soon found ourselves at GZ. The cache was quickly located and the log signed. We took the time to admire the views to the Gold Coast before heading back to the car. Thank you for bringing us to this lovely place
Out for the day in the Canungra area picking up some older caches with SelvaGirls. We parked on the roadside and made our way in through the path - carefully washing our feet and the cleansing station to reduce our pathogens - what a great idea! As we walked on down there was alot of new regeneration going on and we gently walked through this and to the GZ. The cache was found spot on in GZ. A lovely spot too and great views across to the Gold Coast. TFTC StewPat & Spider
Glad the caching community has managed to keep this lovely cache going. It is always nice to visit a spot that has been visited by cachers for a lengthy period of time. I set off down the track and the meters weren't going up or down. I started to run as I knew this was the last one for the day and the kids were in the car (with Mr EMC) tired from me having walked them about 8 kms (they are only 4 & 5). I ran and ran and realised I had overshot the mark as the meters were going up. I started plugging in the extra co-ords from the log sheet into the GPS and found myself back where I had just past. I was making a real mess of this in my haste. I stopped. Breathed and slowly added all co-ords and carefully read my instructions. This worked well as I was soon counting to the big tree and in no time I was holding a cache. I quickly did some swaps, signed log and ran all the way back to the car. Our last cache for the day. Binna Burra is just beautiful. Thanks for cache!
Early morning trip down from Toowoomba with kestal and firebreather03 to meet up with IolantheK in Browns Plains before heading up to Binna Burra. I have been looking forward to caching here for ages...and was simply the chauffeur today, happy to go anywhere and had no part in coordinating the day...but loved every minute of it.
After walking many kms we were by now a little weary but this was a must do while in the area as it is one of the 100 oldest active caches in Qld. A great feeling to finally tick this one off. Thanks StewPat & Spider.

Out and about with Mrs Esky, firebreather03 and IolantheK venturing to Binna Burra. After a couple of messages back and forth a plan and list was made. Departing Toowoomba just as the sun was rising, Mrs Esky, fb03 and myself made our way to stop off number one to grab IolantheK. Just as we were discussing how we would meet up, the little bumble bee was right there in front of us. With the car all packed with everything needed for a decent stroll we were off. After a quick stop off to grab a coffee we made the final stretch to Binna Burra. Pulling up all bags were packed, sunscreen on but I forgot the bug spray! Not one, nor two but three little suckers were removed before the end of the day!!
Coming closer and closer to the end of the day and legs and feet were a little sore but this one was on the must to list. Hoping out of the car we headed down and down and down some more. Many new trees have been planted here. Lucky for us we only had a short search at GZ. TFTC StewPat & Spider

Thanks for the replacement cache. All in good order (card taken ). Replaced as found.

Blacklegend, Scotty Neville & I were up the mountain today looking forward to a great day walking thru the rainforest and picking up a few caches on the way.
It was COLD with outside temperature of 13 degrees but we knew that we would heat up as we walked and nothing was stopping us from grabbing some great caches!!!
We were now heading back down the hill and this was so close to the road we just had to add it to our total.
Because it was so close we decided to leave our packs in the car and headed on down and were soon at GZ.
We all looked around GZ for some time and came up empty handed, we were sure that we had true GZ and there were a few spots it could have been so it was quite sad not to find it.
We really didn't want this great old one to die and we had no idea who the CO was so we decided to replace the cache.
We had brought a good sized cache that we had intended to replace another cache down the Border Track but we had changed plans so we still had it.
Then we realised that it was back up in the car!!!!!! BL volunteered to head back to the car to grab it while Scotty and I scanned the outer area in hope that the cache had been thrown away after it was found.
BL soon returned and we placed it in the safest place we could keeping the integrity of the cache and added some camo to hopefully hide it well!!
Please ensure you rehide it in the same manner so we don't loose it again!!
Thanks StewPat & Spider

Wonder what's happening to the caches in Binna Burra. This is 0 for 3 for us this weekend. Either we have really lost our touch, or someone is taking all the caches in Binna Burra.
Out on a field visit to Lamington National Park and decided to take a small detour to find this during lunch. TFTC
Wow, thanks for this cache! We found it while spending our day in the Lamington NP
Wow that's an old cache. Not a good area to promote the national park. So many weeds and actually thought I had wondered onto someone's drug plantation.
On the way in found a lace monitor eating a dead wallaby. The stench was so bad it made me throw up.

I was headed down to Canungra today to attend an event, and had spotted this cache on the map a little while ago. Being that I was coming as far south as I was, an extra 40km loop below wouldn't take to long
It was a nice drive along the road down through Beechmont and on towards Binna Burra. I picked up a couple of cache along the way and soon found myself at the nearby access point to this cache.
I got parked and set off down the trail, down literally, so I was not so keen on the walk back. Although it is only a short way in, but still feeling pretty worn from the week that was. So I soon was rather happy to find that where I needed to leave the path was a nice grassy area rather then undergrowth. Soon enough the cache was spotted and in hand with the log being signed.

On the way down the hill we found a nice place to park and wandered in, on th last little section of hill, I slipped nd got a nasty scrape on my knee, ouch. Oh well, off to find a cache, a nice quick find. Now to hobble up the hill with a sore knee. Tftc
On the way down the hill from the g20 event we spotted an entrance to retrieve this one nice and easy except poor lisylou slipped and scraped her knee on the gravel it looked very sore
Searing hot day. This was our first cache however and we were yet to find out how hot it would get. Not as easy as you'd think. 5 of us looking and the jungle soldier found it.
It was really starting to warm up as we headed down to find this cache! It took us a while but Geo Hubby finally had his hand on it. Well hidden little beast, I'd never have looked there! Thanks and we did hear a few Bellbirds, I really like their song but I think it was even too hot for them.
Out for a day caching with gulliver's travel 54, diamonjs and joojoo57. Took a couple minutes but after a few minutes Joojoo57 soon had this one in her hot little hands. TFTC
cache find #1845. With five pairs of caching eyes, it still took some time to locate the cache. It was JooJoo57 who made the find. A nice stroll to and from the cache. TFTC.
Out for the day with Gullivers Travels54, JooJoo57 and Rusty85. Hmmm this was elusive to us for awhile and then turned up in a very unlikely spot. TFTC

Not sure how this one had escaped my radar, but after discussions with Pprime and Nyssa they persuaded me that I needed to visit this one. After camping the night at Binna Burra and walking the Binna Burra Caves circuit, I soon found myself near this one. I have to admit I had a little trouble locating this one but wasn't going anywhere until I did locate it...and locate it I did.
Not the original container I know but still good to visit one of those oldest active cache locations in Queensland. Thanks to Nyssa for replacing the container on this one.
I would say thanks to StewPat & Spider, but it appears it would fall on deaf ears as they have not been on GC since 2002! Thanks for Fangsoki for bringing me here I will say then.lol.

Had a planned walk near here today, but this one was very much on the Prime radar as well. Being one of Queensland's oldest 100 caches still alive it has a special place in our history. And it's handy for a certain challenge cache out there. And it's in a nice place with a short walk to stretch the legs first up. What's not to like? I had a Ruzzelz with me but it's been a while since he'd visited. Things change. For one, the nicely mown grassy walkway across the hillside to GZ. For another the looming presences of 3-4 storey houses up the cliff face peering down at us. Not too sure why the area was all grassy and mown - picnickers perhaps?
Cache found after a short search - it too has changed in recent years - but was in good health and placement.
Thanks for placing this cache, StewPat & Spider. Found in good condition.

I was up at Beechmont for a short while this morning and decided to do this one. I looked out longingly at Egg Rock and Ship Stern but must just do what I can. Thanks StewPat & Spider.
Heading out for a stroll round the Ship's Stern circuit today. Not too early a start so it was not too cold up here at 7:30am. A quick walk down to GZ.
Bell birds must like to sleep in because I did not hear any this morning. A few others chirping away though.

The first time George walked through here there were farmers called Rankin. Since then it has become National Park, and weeds have been allowed to grow. Mrs George reports that an effort has been made to clear some of the feral weeds, and regenerate the forest near the cache, but clearly any work is on hold today anyway. Cache found in good condition, and we came away with copious pegs of bootmakers attached to our clothing. TFTC.
Today I am on my way up to Binna Burra to do a hike around the Ship's Stern circuit with IolantheK and T-tech.
With the start of 'the Ship's Stern' circuit closed we had the start along the 'Lower Bellbird Circuit' track.
This added almost 2km to our hike today, but we did get to grab this cache as an extra find for the day.
Thanks for the cache

Well what a morning, I was up nice and EARLY to grab FTF on a cache over in the rainforest and with some time up my sleeve still a few more on the way to work won't go a stray.
I managed to find a fairly direct approach to this one from the main road.
Scrubbed my boots clean again and headed off down the dirt track. After just walking through the hard packed track of the rainforest it was a nice feeling walking along the freshly mowed grass track. A short walk and I was soon searching and found the new cache. Another name added to the list.
It an amazing view looking back up the cliff towards the mountain lodge.

Off for a type "two fun" adventure with IolantheK
(See for the FUN scale kellycordes.wordpress.com/2009/11/02/the-fun-scale/ )
IolantheK was out to get some of the Herbz Challenge caches done before a certain date and I was clad to accompany her for the journey (and collect a couple of caches)
Early start at 6:30 from North Brisbane, arriving at Binna Burra at 8:30 approx.
via "Hob-Wee" to "Way-Gawn", then "Numinbah Views" and "Morning Tea" [^]
On our way back down the hill we stopped off to grab this one. Sterilized our feet on the Scrub-o-matic and made our way past the lantana, cobblers pegs, pasture grass, and an assortment of weeds thinking that the Scrub-o-matic was a bit late for reducing the weed infestation issue
Arrived at G.Z and began our search, fortunately I spotted something a bit out of the ordinary which ended up being the container [^]

After a very loooooong hike in the rain to get a few of the high terrain caches in the Park with T-Tech, we finally returned to the carpark late this afternoon, very wet, cold, weary, and rather leech-laden Ghastly critters!!!! We got into clean dry clothes, and had coffee and cake at the Teahouse, then made our way around to this one, as I wanted to get it for a Challenge Cache I am working on. A bit of a walk to GZ (the legs were beginning to object!) but we finally found the right spot. I went around once and missed it, but T-Tech poked around with a stick and heard the right noise. I think I was expecting something just a tad bigger Note to future seekers, it's now a small container. TFTC, StewPat & Spider, and thanks Nyssa and Terror for doing the maintenance. Good to see it's still up and running [^]
With a beautiful day at hand, what better way to enjoy it then head out into this gorgeous part of the universe and find myself a few caches. Captain Terror had mentioned he wanted to get out this way so off we drove in old trusty Spangle. I loved the drive up and enjoyed the mountainous views. Arriving at the entrance to the walk we kitted up and then head off towards the track. Oh wow, one of those new, you beaut, clean the cr...rubbish off your shoes contraptions. I had only just the other week seen one of these being erected in another park. Of course we gave it a go!
On the path down to GZ it seemed that there were possibly quite a few nasty, bitey plants about. Not that either of us were game to test the theory out. I remember the last time I had a play with a pretty, half dead Gympie Gympie leaf not in the top ten things I'd like to do again.
We arrived at GZ and had a good idea about the cache after reading previous logs and the hint. We hunted about for a bit and then the cache was finally found. Unfortunately, it was in terrible condition. Well maybe not terrible more like, destroyed Having come all this way, I thought that I wouldn't want others to find it in such a condition after the long drive out here. I suggested we head back to Spangle and see what cache containers I had spare floating around in her. Success, back at our vehicle we found a small container and a log book to replace the one that was wrecked. Another short walk down to GZ and the cache was once again in a fit state to be found and logged.
Thanks for the cache StewPat & Spider

Binna Burra has been too long untouched by me and thus I have decided to make a start getting the caches here. While today's date was being celebrated elsewhere, Nyssaflutterby and I decided to escape into the rainforest and dip our toes in this part of the National Park. Knowing this walk was a bit shorter, and had been a while since it was last found seemed like the perfect starting point.
I loved the drive up here from Beechmont - not a road I've ever driven before and without being too windy as mountain roads tend to be, there were magnificent views to be had and many green things to look at along the way. I had noted a shorter route into this cache than the one described so figured we may as well. I parked us at the head of that trail, not very far from the cache at all if the track is direct and backpacks were slapped on, bootlaces tied, car locked and we set off.
At the start of the walk is one of those fang-dangled new boot cleaning stations to reduce the spread of pathogens and the like. Good fun to use and get sparkly boots with. The track did go pretty direct but was a joy to spend time on. The bright green of the foliage up above shed light down to the various plants at eye level, home to many birds and bugs that we could see.
Thankfully the day wasn't too hot as we walked. The path is a bit overgrown and lots of broad-leafed branches overhung. Not being 100% sure that they weren't Gympie-Gympie we dodged around branches a few times. Surprisingly quick we popped out at the cleared area around GZ and I was again impressed by the views outwards. Paths had been slashed through the grass so we followed those to the right spot.
The GPSr agreed with the hint and previous logs so we began looking. It was obvious nobody has been here for a while. We searched all around and eventually, found the cache. Reports of the broken and wet container were right, only things had gotten much worse. The container looked like a herd of elephants had trampled over it, followed by the Pacific Ocean passing through the logbook. It was totalled. Hmm.. what to do?
Nyssa mentioned she likely had a spare container in her car and we agreed rather than leave a decrepit cache here, we ought to replace it. So.. back to the car we went, old cache in hand. Sure enough, a small container and a logbook were found in the back of her car. And so we grabbed that and hiked back to the cache location. Just as well we took the shorter route and it wasn't too far - even if uphill one way. At GZ we signed the new logbook and hid it in a safe location at the same co-ords. It is a bit smaller than the old, but the best we could do and will no doubt serve the purpose for a while longer. Now, just back to the car again. On the way this time we saw a Land Mullet and a crazy hover-beetle.
An excellent little walk into a magnificent part of the world. A small shame the cache was ruined, but all fixed up now. Thanks for bringing us here, TFTC StewPat & Spider

Found but the cache is saturated and needs a new log and container. TheoreticalJazz with miss13 and tea_ninja
Needs maintenance !!!

Log book is wet. It's still just possible to sign it but any more rain might make it become a sloppy mess.
