#18660 - 10:40:00 AM; Day 40 of the European Road Trip and our last day in London, before we take to the skies and head for Singapore this evening. This was one of the caches on my "to do" list for London, so with time running out, headed off for the find. Unfortunately the pub wasn't open when I got there, but information gathered and answers sent to the CO to get the OK. Amazing that it has been left standing after all these years. A fave for bringing me here! TFTV The Wombles
Greetings from Australia! found it easily enough but being colour blind I am claiming an extra D star. Enlisted the help of a guy next door so I will have to share the smilie I guess.
Thanks for placing this cache The Wombles.

We were on a mission to drop off a couple of TB in a nearby traditional but no harm seeing a few sights along the way and what better way than following the GPSr.
As we rounded the corner we spotted the sign over the entry to the alley and in we went. What a fantastic pub. No time for a pint - maybe next time, just photos.
CO has confirmed our answers - thanks
TFTC the wombles and greetings from Australia. The pub was in operation before Capt Cook arrived down under.

I was in London for an interview and had an hour to spare so thought a few caches were in order!
An old, old pub and an old, old cache. Couldn't resist stopping by on my way. I finally found the pub after much searching! TFTC +fav point for age!

Love the idea of running a pub that's only open mon-fri. Will send over the answers when I get onto a PC. TFTC
Walking around this end of town before a poncy dinner tonight I found the pub packed with businessy types hard drinking after a hard (tuesdays) work. They had helpfully put a sign out the front though I can see how you'd miss it if you wernt looking! A great old place, I will have to pop in for a pint one time its not so packed! Cheers from Australia.
Found my way to, and in, the pub on a Friday about lunch tme. Decided to sit and have athink about the caches for the day and have a bite eat..
A great location and great atmosphere. Answers e-mail and a kind, quick reply was received in the affirmative.
Thansk again The Wombles, good fun this one.

Found the cache location, answered the clues, sent of the email -all on or about 19th April, since when I have completely forgotten to actually enter the log! Humble apologies, and thanks for a good cache - wish I'd had time to stop for a pint. TFTC, AH.
What a hidden delight. Will certainly partake in a beverage next time we are in London. Thanks for letting me discover it even if it was closed !!
A well hidden little ale-house it is... I thought for a moment it was going to be somewhere bizarre like inside Boots or something... Being early evening it was well humming and it was tricky getting to the sign in question, then my eyes went funny while counting... Many thanks for bringing me here.
What a fantastic wee pub! Having located it, I had to pause for a rather excellent pint or two. TFTC.
Took my lunch at this very very cosy pub....fantastic, it gives you the idea of a long gone days
Thanks for the quick log release

My GPSr suggested a likely location for this pub, however it turned out that that wasn't it. Tried another, and there it was! What a great pub, would love to visit when it is open. TFTC and G'Day from Australia.
E-mail sent, what a great find this place is, so glad you brought me here. TFTC

Not exactly the most easily found pub in Britain. I could hardly believe my eyes when I found the little place in the middle of the financial buildings. Thanks for showing me this place. Next time I will take the time to grab a beer here.
I was wandering up the street looking left and right for this one and thought the coords must be wrong or the canyon effect was really bad cause all I could see was swanky shops.
Then I spotted the sign and the alley tucked away and wandered in. Very cool little spot that would have gone unfound if not for caching. Many thanks again Wombles.

Found this one in the early evening, unfortunately construction work made obtaining some information impossible. I do suggest however not to attempt to enter the pub at 6:30pm on a Friday evening as there are hundreds of business people crowded into every alley and free space.
Great cache and thanks for the history lesson.

Found it and sent the requirements to the owner. My wife and I were over visiting from the USA. The pub was closed (Saturday) and when we went to get the required "text", an alarm went off. We hurriedly scribble the information and got out of there! Very interesting!
Found quickly in a short stroll from Farringdon Station

Found by Mary & David from Australia at 1415. A quick walk around the corner from St Etheldreda's and we were looking around this lovely little old pub. Judging by the numbers here today, it has plenty of life left in it yet. Our thanks to The Wombles for giving us the directions.
A great pub! We were a wee too early for first rounders, though, and our return loop through old London didn't come near again. But I did get several nice photographs of both the inside and outside of this amazing building.
Email sent.
Cheers

Couldn't find this at first, so we went off to St Etheldreda's (GC4201) and came back by a different route, then finding the pub straight in front of us.

Well, I was meeting friends up in town, not that far from this cache, and I was a bit early, so I nipped round to have a look. It's a busy place on Friday evening. Details in email. Cheers!
