Thanks for bringing us to this historic place. We found your cache today 21 September 2024 10:49am , while enjoying another day in our beautiful countryside. TFTC SAVI-Cache-Magnets
It's a shame the old gaol is no longer open. Love the history behind these towns. Good hide thanks
Not open, but no problem as it's still a great location here. I love historic buildings so I do appreciate this area. Cache easily located and all good with it. TFTC!
Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western Western Australia. We spent four nights in the north-west, staying at De Grey River near Port Hedland, Point Samson, Dampier and SW of Karratha to target a selection of caches in the general area. Thanks for the cache SAVI-Cache-Magnets!
Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. We camped at Point Samson last night, then made our way to Karratha, finding a few caches of interest along the way.It began raining early this morning and we are enjoying a cool day today. The cache was found in good order. I love the old buildings here. Thanks SAVI-Cache-Magnets for the cache.
An easy enough find in an interesting historic location.A shame its not open to the public.SL TFTC
Good to avenge a DNF here from my previous visit. This time I looked at the hint and made for a quick find I did want to retreat to the cool car today given the outside temp hear was 45. TFTH
Pity this place is not still open to the public. Closed permanently by the looks of it . TFTC though.
TFTC, spent a bit time wandering around confused by the hint bit found it in the end.
Karratha Day3

This is an amazing area to explore, we found a variety of cahes.
Thankyou to the CO's for hiding this cache

Amazing historical buildings here, an interesting location. Thanks for bringing us here.
What a beautiful prison building. I am extremely impressed. Thank you so much bringing me here. Nepeancacher beekeeping Geocoin visited. A favorite point from me.
Travelling from Port Headland to Karratha caching along the way. Beautiful old buildings. Previous logs helped to find this one, tftc!
On my way to Perth via Broome with a few detours for LGAs. TFTC.
A quick find at the hinted location. Nice stop. Looked like the roof is being redone.

TFTC changed my did not find to a find as I thought it was in the jail yard. The hint did help for this one
I didn't find the hint that useful, but I did find a previous comment "eye height" useful, although I would say between eye and chest height in the wall. My GPS was also about eight metres out and to the right of the vertical rail line. It was showing S 20° 46.707 E 117° 08.649 at the cache. Some nice old buildings in this town. TFTC SAVI-Cache-Magnets.
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time while travelling. We are on the road travelling up through central Australia and down the coast of W.A. I hope to grab a few caches along the way.We were lucky that there was some workmen doing some restoration on this fabulous old building, that allowed us in. After exploring the area we then made a quick find at GZ.Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can enjoy finding it.
On the road and sharing the caching finds with ilook4geo. Just picking up a couple of caches to represent each town we visit or each LGA as we travel along. Here we read previous logs and a couple mentioned "eye level" which helped a lot. Thanks for this cache go to SAVI-Cache-Magnets for placing this cache.
A not so quick find was made here and the log was signed. All was put back as found. TFTC.
Had an RDO today, so grabbed a hire car for a days excursion down to Roebourne and Cossack.
Made my way to GZ and was a bit concerned that I may spend a while trying to find the cache. I read back through a few logs and changed my focus area. After a bout 5 minutes, I plucked the necessary rock from its home and voila .. a cache cache was revealed
Really loved this old place .. can just imagine the stories to be told from those who had the displeasure of staying here

My hitchhiking journey continues after three fabulous days in Dampier. A couple driving to Roebourne picked me up and invited me in for a coffee, and they're familiar with caching. As my coffee was being made I took 5 minutes to grab this one. TFTC
Travelling through the Pilbara and soaking up the sights. Heading off from Tognolini Pass free camp to Karratha and finding a few caches along the way.
Last time I was here there were people everywhere. Today was quiet. So thankful for the hint!!
SAVI-Cache-Magnets, I found Sir John Septimus Roe today. Thanks for placing and maintaining

Out ‘n about with m4yb getting a few caches.
Hint had us confused until she spotted it at eye level. Then the hint made more sense
Thanks for the hide and SAVI-Cache-Magnets.

Found this one in the dark this evening while up this way for a change. I'd love to come back one day and have a good look around in the daylight. TFTC
Found when we were at the right angle, looking in the right direction! Hint confused me, but it’s eye level. Thanks.
Poked around a bit inside the fence before thinking that outside the fence is more likely! Spoke to Sue inside the centre, who knew about geocaching but had no idea there was one there. Geo-hubby found it (which I'm pleased about because he's not much of an enthusiast), and I let Sue know the cache is still active. If you can't find it, she can now help!

On the way home from an extended stay in Marble Bar with axell33, we were on a mission to keep moving, so after finding the cache and having a quick look about I think we need to revisit another time and have a proper look at this fabulous history here. I loved the read on this cache. Our pioneers were incredible people. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Baldivis.
On the road home after being flooded in at Marble Bar for over a week. We stopped to hunt for this one and made our way past some great old buildings on the way to gz. Once there we searched for a few minutes before we finally found the right spot. We added our mark to your log book and returned your cache back to its place of residence. Always good to do a welfare check on one that hasn’t been found for awhile and happy to report all is good with this one. Loved the history that surrounds this cache. TFTC SAVI-Cache Magnets.
In the area briefly for work (from Queensland). Had a day off today so decided to go for a bit of a tour around. I always like to visit the historic sites and imagine what it was like back in the day. Its good to.see works being carried out to restore the old buildings. Hopefully one day I will be able to bring my parnter back this way for a holiday and we will be able to see it all restored.
For me, the hint was more misleading than helpful and inspect a long time looking in the wrong place. So I broadened my search and finally saw the little hide hole behind a couplenof well placed stones/rocks.

We stopped here for the nice little museum and the aboriginal art center, where I bought a nice T-shirt. The cache could be find exactly as described.

Outnabout after finishing the work we needed to do. Great to have time to meander and see more interesting sights because of geocaching. Nice quick find. TFTC
Took the drive from Broome to Karratha today, after a nice breakfast we decided it was time to head off on the 850km journey. Only had two stops on this journey for caches - both dnfs from my trip to Cravo to the northwest in 2017. Managed to make amends for both and moved into Karratha.
Used Richlinks co ordinates here and that narrowed the search area significantly which was very welcome as it was over 43 degrees today
Had three weeks holiday so decided on a massive road trip to the most northern part of the state - the Kimberley. An area we have never explored, but had always been on the to do list. We travelled through the towns of Mount Magnet, Newman, Port Hedland, Broome, Halls Creek, Kununurra, back to Broome, Karratha, Exmouth, Denham, Geraldton and back home to Perth. It certainly was a very quick trip for the distance covered, over 8,000 kilometres in total, we saw a lot in such a short space of time, but barely scratched the surface of what’s out in these parts.
We would like to thank the individual COs for hiding the caches throughout these parts, from the towns to the highways and byways. Thank you for choosing to share these locations with us and we appreciate the effort you have gone to. Thanks for the fun.

It was 30 years ago that we last visited Roebourne. We were amazed at the transformation from the wild town we encountered all those years ago. Made a quick find after extending our search. Container found at 707 & 651. Thanks to the CO.
Found during my half lap advanture from Adelaide. Container and log book in good condition. TFTC.
I am currently visiting Wickham/Roebourne on a geocaching trip
Today is my last day in Wickham/Roebourne
I have had a busy morning doing some housekeeping getting ready for my flight home tomorrow morning
First was a load of washing and while I was waiting for that I ducked out to grab a few caches around town I had not got to yet
Spent a bit of time looking in the wrong place until I realised I had not navigated close enough to GZ
After a short search in the correct area thanks to the hint I soon had the container in hand and signed the log
The old prison was all closed up today, maybe I can get to look around on my next visit to town

Picked up a bit of trash while here

We dropped in to this location hoping to see inside. Unfortunately we hadn’t realised that it was only open for guided tours, so could only glimpse it from the outside. Fortunately all was not lost as there was a cache to find! TFTC
Found with muggles behind us not paying any attention to us .All is good with the cache on a road trip from Tassie TFTC
Good location to hide the geocache. Old Gaol was great, highly recommend going there. TNLNSL. TFTC
The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 21. Having traveled so far yesterday, I had plenty of time to visit Cossak & Wickham on the way to Karratha for the night.
This was another cache I did not find two years ago. I had plenty of time today and poked around in the same old spots. Then I noticed something key, another item that fitted the clue, leaving two more areas to hunt. The one furthest from GZ produced the goods. At last.
Thanks.
