Logs
Out for a Sunday bike run and stopped off here for a quick find, glad we'd read the logs about GZ being a bit out.
DNF'd this time last year, however reading the logs a little better this time, I managed to go almost straight to the cache...which was in the what I guess is the obvious spot. Log signed and time for one more before the event in town. Thanks for this one juanmatt....
I planned to attend only two of today's Cache crawl events, and spend the rest of the day chasing Adlabs, with just a few extras thrown in to break the journey. Nice quick find here, out of the rain as well.My thanks for the cache, juanmatt.
TFTC After searching for a while we read the previous logs and realised we were looking in the wrong place
School holidays almost at a close, so decided to take the kids out for the day while there was no rain. Weve had a lovely day exploring Mt. Franklin, having a hot chocolate at the Chocolate Mill, a lovely lunch at the Farmers Arms and some geocaching on the way back to Bendigo. TFTC - as others have said the coordinates were a little off but trust where you first think!
TFTC! I lived near here as a kid and had no idea about this old school site. Thanks heaps!
After leaving Bridgewater, it is time to start heading home. However, not before getting some more geocaches. Especially while trying to take a huge dint out of the 12 and 20 geocaches in each LGA challenge. Never cached in the Loddon nor Mount Alexander Local Government Areas, there are lots to select, but we do only have a small time window. After a lovely lunch at the Gold Exchange Caf, it was time to get back on the road.Huntress called this one while I mistakenly followed the GPS around in circles. Thanks for the cache, Juan Matt.HunterPS. After signing the geocache, we got the watch the steam train go over the old bridge.
I made a beeline for the object that I thought this would be hidden on but after a quick look we chose to follow the gps which definitely led us astray! As a few others have said the gps is out by around 9 metres. Once we returned to our original position it didn't take long for gnome5580 to find the hide! TFTC!!
The coordinates will lead you astray!! Go with your first instinct.Maybe have a seat and think about it.Thanks for the find
Found it! TFTC! Was looking around and found it down low logbook signed by Mum.
As most others I found coordinates to be out by a few metres. Trust your instincts and you will succeed. TFTC.
The co-ords on this cache are well out, by about 9 metres. We looked and looked and looked. Originally thought it was missing. Then we read some old logs and we back and had another look and yep there it was. When looking for this cache if you are feeling tired, take a seat. TFTC. SL. Left quite a few more swaps for the kids to find. Nice sized container. In good condition and log book still fine. Thanks & Cheers.
Find#6391Nice hiding place What a epic road trip exploring Australia Thanks for the cache
Bizarrely, at GZ is a bird box with no hole for a bird. As I looked closely and checked the cache attributes to see if it could be a hide I noticed it had been taken over by bees. This prompted me to check when the cache was last found which led me to the logs that identified where it was. Pretty quick find after that. TN, left a pathtag. TFTC
We just rode our bikes along the rail trail from Castlemaine to Maldon finding a few caches on the way. TFTC
Searched ground zero for a while and didnt find anything looked at the comments and found it easy. Geokid and Geopup helped out with the sniffing haha!
Had a look around but after 5 minutes I couldn't spot it so had to move on.
Thanks anyway juanmatt...
Thanks anyway juanmatt...
It took us a couple of minutes, but after I decide to read one of the messages from someone who found it three days earlier than us here’s a hints for future fellow treasure Hunters, Bird Box
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Schools always bring back memories whether they be good, bad or otherwise.
We tried here to find the cache but no joy was to be found. After a while of searching we decided to go into town to get a bite to eat to satisfy the hunger pangs and the caffeine withdrawal symptoms.
While at lunch I went through the past log entries and entry after entry said it was located well away from GZ. Then I hit the right clue that said it was located in the hut. That is 12m from GZ.
What was interesting was I went into the hut briefly for a look put my foot up on the bench to tie my shoelace.
We returned to look at where the clue said and it was right where I tied up my shoe but out of sight.
So log was signed and cache returned to location.
CO needs to redo where GZ actually is.

Coordinates off and cache needs maintenance. Bring a pen ️ as the one here doesn't work! But nice little spot after attempting the bike trail nearby.
Last cache of our adventure and it was a doozy!! Coordinates are well out, not in the scrub. Think more about the title rather than focusing on the coordinates.
We had to read the comments to find it which was a tad disappointing so hope it is relocated again to its new home.

On our way home from a road trip to Bendigo to see the relatives and today we went via Castlemaine to endeavour to put some more smiley faces on the map. We did briefly search here yesterday without luck where the GPS took us but as previous logs stated the coordinates were out. Unfortunately the information on our GPS did not go back far enough for us to gain any further insight. After checking previous logs last night we returned today and it wasn't long before Mr. Pooky made the find in the area where we thought the cache may have been relocated to. TFTC, the information and showing us more of the area. TNLN.
Ocw the Bebes. We came to Castlemaine on our way around Australia. Had to pick up a few caches of course. Tftc
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa
Arrived in Newstead for a few days, headed towards Castlemaine to explore a little.
This was our first caching stop. As others mentioned coords are a little out but previous logs soon put me in the right spot.

We looked where the coords took us but no luck. After reading a couple of logs, we used them as our hint. Geoturtle37 made the find straight away and I retrieved, signed and returned the cache whilst she went chasing feathers. Picked up the two TB's. Thanks for the cache.

*Cache find 1218*
I have been working on my ‘Centroid’ challenge, which requires you to move your centroid to >100km from your home base. Then you have to find a cache that’s closest to your centroid. My centroid is currently 119km from home which places it near to Castlemaine. So there was nothing to do but to catch a train to Castlemaine for the day and find some caches. Mission accomplished.
Number 3 cache for the day. It was warming up out there, and given I was walking I used the nearby hut to take a rest and some shade. I read some old logs which turned out to be quite useful, as I only had to move about 5 metres to make the find. Dropped two trackables here.
Thanks for the hide and the chance for another smiley juanmatt. Cache on
**The Cache:** Good condition. TN, dropped 2 TB. Signed log as Let Them Eat Cache, LTEC, or something in between. Replaced as found.

*Cache find # 13960.*
Today I headed out this way as I was needing a few more cache finds in the Mount Alexander LGA for a certain challenge cache.
On my tour of a very interesting area, I stopped at this one to make the find.
Well the coordinates aren't flash on this one, they had me at the very small stump which obviously the cache is not.
I headed over to the shelter to get out of the sun while I read a bit more info, turns out the cache was right beside me in the shelter, nowhere near the stump.
**Thanks to juanmatt for placing this cache.**

Couldn't find it where the GPS had led us so sat in the hut to read the previous logs. Yesterday's cache finder left a hint to read a log from last year. After that we looked under our bums and bam! Sitting right on it! Thanks for the cache!
TFTC if you're struggling as its 10-12mtrs out read 30/12/2021 post but it will reveal the location.
For once my GPS being almost constantly 10m out helped me here. I had no idea there had been another Winter's Flat school. Geocaching is soooo much more than I expected. Many thanks
I should have read the previous logs early than I did. I spent my time digging up everything to realise I was out by a good 15m. All signed and replaced where I found it.
Thank you
Thank you

Having finished work for the day in Ballarat I thought to myself why not go out and camp the night somewhere and run an event in Bendigo. We'll with that all planned I decided to make a weekend of it. Exploring parts of the state I hadn't visited before today I had a great time driving around and can't wait to be back again. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

You need to read previous logs to help you find this cache as it is 20 meters from GZ. The log from 30/12/2021 is most helpful.
The coordinates were wildly, wrong, and reading previous comments, helped us to an ultimate easy find. The container is in good shape. TFTC
A nice easy find after we read previous comments which alluded to the coordinates being slightly out. The cash owner needs to edit the description for accurate coordinates. TFTC call
After enjoying a hike around Sailors Gully and Forest Creek with her friend wendyb, Chook had a quick stopover to pick up this cache on the way home. Initially confused by where the GPS was taking her, a previous log from Dec 2021 put her right. TFTC juanmatt.
Found as described in log dated 30/12/21.
Really needs the CO to fix.
Thanks for the cache and the adventure.
Greetings from Tassie.
Cheers, EPs.

really really hard to find not sure how are you could possibly fly and it would need to be a lot smarter than me
As previous finders mentioned, the Coordes are a little out. But found in a lovely little spot. TFTC
Found still in its temporary home 20 or so meters from coordinates. Thanks for bringing us here.
On our way to visit friends in Castlemaine we had time to stop for this little gem. We found an access gate, and the cache where an earlier finder had hidden it. Thanks juanmatt.
After an overnight with friends in Castlemaine, a morning parkrun and breakfast it was time to head for home. A short divert to this cache and we found it exactly where a previous finder had hidden it. Thanks juanmatt for bringing us here today.
