First visit to the You Yangs in many years . Lovely spot and we had a great day, sighting some Kangaroos, Wallabies, Hawks, and even some wild goats, along with some great scenery and some great caches.

Eventually found this one after giving up on the GPS which was of no use in the end. Thanks for this one ThePacman.

This was my last free weekend day whilst Tarbit was holidaying overseas and so a plan was hatched to tackle some caches in the You Yangs with SirJ-Oz. As per usual I did the driving and he did the navigating. Once we realised the Circle Drive was closed to vehicles we altered our original plans and decided to walk this track. Interesting terrain and good views along this section. We didn't get too distracted and managed to make the find here. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and this series in a great location ThePacman. A hot day today but a lovely walk nonetheless.

Find #4116. Found @ 13:15 with Annoying Tarbit

The plan for today was to visit the You Yangs and surrounds with Annoying Tarbit, and have a day of caching. We didn't count on the Great Circle Drive being closed, so ended up doing (according to my fitbit) almost 20kms of walking for the day. It was a long day with AT collecting me at 8am and I got home again about 10pm.

A while back I supervised a Cub Scout Grey Wolf hike along this trail and had a half hearted quick search for a couple of the caches in this series, but found none of them. Today turned out with much better results.

Just as I was about to start looking for the cache where my preconceived ideas were leading me, the cache appeared to my eyes elsewhere.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache ThePacman

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you ThePacmanfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Out and about today with AaronFilms and Sinornithosaurus doing some hiking around the trails of the You yangs and managed to pick up some caches on our adventure. All in all the day was really fun and we completed the Flinders Peak trail and the East West circuit also, thanks to the CO for placing this series of caches for our enjoyment!! Visited some trackables, #448

This was the first cache of the day, as we seemed to do the trail backwards but never mind, thanks for the cache!!

Out for the day to visit the You Yangs and enjoy a bit of outdoor time. After visiting the top, it was time for the circuit. We did it clockwise. Heaps of people about.
It is interesting how some caches you just cannot see and then go - ah...how obvious.... Great views over the Ankie area from this spot Thanks

Starting to wish we'd packed more food as this loop has taken a lot linger than originally calculated. It's taking longer to find the caches than we thought; especially, as we did with this one, where you walk straight past it to search another area. It's only when you turn around that you go 'Doh!'

Out for a bit of a walk around the You Yangs with friends today and we have decided to take on the West track around the hill. One of the other kids I had tagging along with me found this on. I think I may have hooked some new cachers. Great Camo on this one. TFTC

Number two find on our geocache adventure to You Yangs. Forgive me if i get some of the geocache finds confused with others. Taking a friend geocaching for the first time and giving little clues as to what to look for. On this one i might have said "it's probably on the ground" or "it's probably in a tree" was the opposite of what i suggested... which was a theme for the day.

Thank goodness i brought my handy GPS. With the phone none of the finds would have been possible. Got this one and all good with the cache.

Found It.......Found this guy while out on a day hike with our Scout Group. After walking along the trail one of the scouts said How far to the next one with my reply being oh we are here (thanks to Lucy for keeping me on my toes) then the search began and soon after the cache was spotted but was left until all of the scouts had found it by themselves, and after signing the log we moved onto the next one. Thanks ThePacman for the cache

Find #1056

1st time in the You Yangs so started with a walk around the east-west track. The cache series gave us some great spots to take in the flat landscape! coords were all good but some of the climbing was a little challenging at some due to the rainy morning. TFTseries! 8/10

11-Feb-17
Another slow find and as I now realise the cache before I crossed paths with Danozz (unbeknownst to both of us). I'm fairly sure that there is a resident creature somewhere nearby as each time I thought to veer left whilst facing the hills the creature started up quite a racket.
In the interests of GZ you might like to be a little more precise about the container type here Joe since much vegetation has been utterly flattened in the search for the elusive cache. I only found it because I rethought my approach after a good while of scrabbling around.

Took me a few minutes to find - but I was happy to finally make a discovery on this series.

We have been wanting to do this series for some time now, its so close to us but I guess we were just too lazy to get to it.
But today we changed that, in great company topped with perfect weather made this day very enjoyable.
What amazing rock formations around here, its great to be out here in this amazing place.
Thanks to ThePacman for the great cache.

This was obvious however we walked past it many times. remember to look everywhere so you don't walk round in circles. Pretty difficult.

Out for a mid-winters walk with the GeoKids. This one was very much in my face! The GeoKids by this time have resorted to trying out various Harry Potter spells and their effectiveness on reducing the time taken for me to find the geocache. They were quite happy that this one worked quite well!

We'd found all the necessary information for the final long ago, so now took the time to calculate the coordinates.

Oh you legend! One of my favourite topics, and one that is strangely not much in the public consciousness (I spent some time explaining about the western plains volcanoes to two Information Centre workers one day, in a centre located deeper in to the western plains...)
I have one point to raise with you, however. Mt Anakie is definitely a cinder cone (nice and recent), but it's my understanding Elephant Rock is old granite (like the You Yangs themselves ~4 million years). When I was quite young, my father told me the You Yangs were a volcano. I was utterly terrified about having a picnic there. Years later, I found out just about every second hill between Geelong and South Australia was a volcano, but the You Yangs were not!

After completing YY Views #9 Neville_devil and I headed of for #8. half way there were stopped to have a look at big rock as we had never seen it from this vantage point before (Quite impressive). When we got to GZ the GPS had us on a wild goose chase on the wrong side of the path. Once the GPS settled and we corrected where we were looking the find was made easily enough.

Reperio at 1550.

Day 9 of my great Victorian geocaching trip ahead of the Melbourne mega event, and whilst things weren't going so great having ruptured my pectoralis tendon a few days in Bendigo, I figured that even with my arm in a sling, I could still enjoy the wonderful surrounds of the You Yangs and find a few caches.

Heading on to the last couple of caches in this series, and the views along this side of the track were fantastic. I always enjoying seeing ancient volcanic rock formations.

Gratias ThePacman.

03-Nov-15
As we were finishing, there were more and more muggles coming by. We had to find, track, sign and return with caution.
Thanks to ThePacman.

01-Sep-15
Over on a quick trip to Melbourne and felt the need for a nice bush walk and having had some experience with ThePacman's talents decided that his You Yang Views series was the ideal solution.
First day of spring, beautiful weather, so recruit muggle sister (to carry lunch) and head for the hill.
Lots of muggles out and about, carpark over half full.
Had a very enjoyable walk around the hill, took a break for lunch half way, then finished time away from the big smoke with coffee next to the carpark. Nice.
And many thanks to ThePacman for another fantastic series in an excellent location, good co-ords, nice hides, what more can I say.
Keep on caching

30-Aug-15
Reading the description for this cache, I had no idea volcanic activity in this area was dormant. I had always thought all volcanic activity to be extinct. Sat at GZ and wondered what it would look like if a volcano was to erupt here. After alittle daydreaming and imagining scenes from Dante's Peak, waited for muggles to pass, retrieve logbook, signed and replaced. Great cache & another great view. TFTC Pacman.

This was a quick find for Mrs Y'stassie which pleased her immensely as she often has trouble with this type. Cache and contents were in very good condition. Clue recorded. Maybe she was feeling a little cocky and forgot the warning "Mind your footing" so ended up sliding the short distance to the track ingloriously on her backside. Fortunately no harm done and no omne around to witness the undignified descent.
Thanks for another very good cache ThePacman.

Nice easy find not too far from trail which is nice since I'm running out of puff. Thanks!!

Yet another for my muggle. Took way to long to find this one. Over thought and over shot. A pair of muggle eyes came in use. Find the stilts to find the cache!

18-Jul-15
At first out iPhone had us looking on the wrong side of the track. But it soon became apparent that that side was an unlikely hiding place and on the other side, it was very quickly found. TFTC!

04-Apr-15
I found it!! The phones were a bit all over the place. But I found it in the end. Duckling was really not pleased. So hubby told him they would go on ahead and find the next one. We were getting short on time if we were going to hit up Jb Hi-Fi and the auto part store before they closed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our "stroll" around the You Yangs today. While we were doing the walk in an anti-clockwise direction, everyone else seemedto be doing it the other way.

Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 8m N from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,

I have been waiting for just the right conditions to tackle these 10 caches and being midweek and about 20 degrees forecast all was ideal. I did my preparation last night noting that I would need clues along the way which were duly collected. The terrain was mixed but easy going with such a good track. the hides were varied and sometimes just plain fantastic.
I am enjoying the views out to the west even on such a bleary morning. This cache is hidden well away from any accidental discovery
Thanks

Had a lovely day out in the You Yangs today made better by this series of caches. Thanks to ThePacman for the effort in setting these up. A few of them were very well disguised and had us stumped for a while, in particular number three. Almost gave up and then, like a few others seem to have, just stumbled upon it. Will definitely back to this national park to pick up some other caches.

11-Nov-14
I had set today aside as a caching day with a mission, to find all the caches in the You Yangs Regional Park that I hadn't found yet, and that was about 80 caches. This included the YYCD series of caches, You Yangs Views series and the A-Zoo series. Crawling out of bed at around 6:00 am, I had a quick shower and packed the remaining things into the car before heading off to the other side of the bay. Beating the morning peak hour traffic I was finding my first cache about an hour after hitting the road. The weather was perfect and got quite warm during the afternoon.

Needless to say I was very happy when I had managed to complete the task I set out to do and by dusk I was heading towards Geelong City to find a few more caches, and even a 'horrorific' night cache before heading for home. The You Yangs provided some challenging and fantastic caches and the views along the way made it all worth every drop of sweat. The variety of cache hides was awesome and the time and effort that had gone into their construction and/or placement was very evident so a big thanks to all the CO's.

Initially I was just going to do the few around northern section then start again from the south but I ended up walking the full loop, and enjoying every second of it. Some great hides in the series and the views and terrain along the way were fantastic. I worked up a good sweat along the way too. Thanks ThePacman.

On a wonderful Melbourne Cup day, had to pass the time doing some caches.
You Yangs park was just the remedy!!
Walked along the East-West track today. Plenty of muggles around today, so had to act unnaturally to retreive, sign and return. This cache wasnt what i expected. Had mevloking in the wrong places. Just as i was ready to give up, it caught my eye!!!!
