What I should be doing right now - an assignment. What I am doing - walking the dog in the You Yangs. However I’m listening to a relevant audio book for my course so surely this counts as study time right? Took a little bit of hunting at GZ to find this awesome cache. A fav from me. Thanks Pac-Man!

This was my last free weekend day whilst Tarbit was holidaying overseas and so a plan was hatched to tackle some caches in the You Yangs with SirJ-Oz. As per usual I did the driving and he did the navigating. Once we realised the Circle Drive was closed to vehicles we altered our original plans and decided to walk this track. We were struggling to spot this one and so I took an alternative approach and was able to spy the cache. From there i was able to direct SJO where to go to make the retrieval. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and this series in a great location ThePacman. A hot day today but a lovely walk nonetheless.

Find #4118. Found @ 13:52 with Annoying Tarbit

The plan for today was to visit the You Yangs and surrounds with Annoying Tarbit, and have a day of caching. We didn't count on the Great Circle Drive being closed, so ended up doing (according to my fitbit) almost 20kms of walking for the day. It was a long day with AT collecting me at 8am and I got home again about 10pm.

A while back I supervised a Cub Scout Grey Wolf hike along this trail and had a half hearted quick search for a couple of the caches in this series, but found none of them. Today turned out with much better results.

This was another that I'd had a quick look for on the hike and once again, not found. Today I also didn't find it as Annoying Tarbit made the discovery. I did make the retrieval, so that is something I guess.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache ThePacman

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you ThePacmanfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Was staying in Geelong for the weekend to catch up with family and attend the few Christmas events tomorrow but I hadn't really intended on attending the nearby event today but since I was in the area for tomorrow's events, it made only sense..... That was only until I arrived at the carpark to this event, not realizing I still have nearly 500m to walk into it. With the temp still at 38 degrees and me running late, I was hoping I'd get there before the event was over.

It was an enjoyable walk along the bush path as it steadily headed up. It was with some relief to finally spot the small group of keen adventurers. So after the event it was suggested that a few of us grab a few other the nearby finds while already here. This one was grabbed while chatting during the event.

Thanks ThePacman for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Find # 7460

Found while out on a solo caching day. Plan was to, finally, grab the 2 mystery trails near Lara, as I've had them solved for some time now. And then to head into the YouYangs to grab some smilies around the Great Circle Dr and to finish off caching at an event.

Oh and grab the odd cache thay pops up on the GPSr.

With the stinking heat n gail force winds, it was quite the interesting day. A couple of snakes, lots of lizards, and quite a big fire near Little River to keep an eye on.
All making a memorable solo caching trip, around the area.

Managed to get my name in this one while the platform was full of geocachers attending "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" event.

I gave up on this cache yesterday due to the weather - by the time I reached this point on the loop, it was windy, raining and quite remarkably cold. So today I came back and had another look and found it fairly quickly. A great view which today I was much more inclined to enjoy. Thanks.

Out and about for the day with echidna44 and au.fait to do a You Yang trail. Picked a nice one with a little sun and not much wind. We shared the area with a cycle and running event so the area become very busy. Great to see so many families getting out together. This turned out to be the last for the day. Timing was important to make the retrieve between muggles. It did help that while one of us was down the others could cover. Wonderful views from here. Well worth the walk. Thanks for the cache ThePacman

22-Jul-18
Out today with xambo4u & au.fait, we had a plan to cache in the You Yangs. We did a couple, then decided it would be best to do the 12 km one way circle drive first, as there was an event on for both cyclists and runners along the way.
Having completed the YYCD series, there was time to do a few extras. This was the last for the day as dusk was approaching. In between muggles we made the find, which pleased us as it completed the YY views series. Thanks ThePacman for bringing us here and showing us the gorgeous views, we could see Corio Bay.

21-Jul-18
On a most delightful winters day I was out enjoying the You Yangs area in the wonderful company of echidna44 and xambo4u. We met up early for what turned out to be an excellent day of caching and good company. The quality of the caches was outstanding due in no small part to the work that had gone into their construction. I found 38 caches and not a single DNF which was very satisfying. We collected the final clue here before heading off to claim the final cache in this series. TFTC The Pacman

This was the first cache and an easy find as we saw in the open a little. Signed and returned to a less visible spot. Thanks

We forgot to log this 2 days ago. A DNF for us. We looked on, over and under for this one with no luck. One for another day.

We looked, waited for muggles to leave, looked, waited, looked, waited. Then we looked and looked and looked.

No joy for us today.

Possibly muggled. There is some wire twisted to the deck which may have once held a bision tube? Though the description suggests magnetic so perhaps I just wasn't sufficiently thorough in my nano hunting.

Went with my friend Jamilla who was experiencing her first lot of geocaches. She's done the You Yangs many times but didn't know any caches were there. We searched for this one for a while and I thought I knew what i was looking for. After a while we were going to give up when two ladies came along and asked what we had lost. After explaining it, one of them had done it before, and they started looking too. We had to keep moving so we left them to it and told them to shout out if they found. Sure enough, when we were 300 meters down the track, the "found it" cry rang out. Good to meet some new people and find the cache. Must remember that a couple of previous DNF's on the chart doesn't mean i should give up as quickly as 10 minutes.

Nice hide. All well with the cache!

Started the sequence of 10 in reverse order... beginning with number 9.

I thought this would be an easy find, but after 15mins I gave up. I'm sure it's there. I'm going to do this walk again soon so I'll go for it again Very Happy

Found It.......Found this guy while out on a day hike with our Scout Group. After walking the opposite way to all of the other walkers due to the weather we arrived at the lookout and battled to see any landmarks due to the rain then the search began and soon after the cache was uncovered and after signing the log we moved onto the next one. Thanks ThePacman for the cache

Find #1057

1st time in the You Yangs so started with a walk around the east-west track. The cache series gave us some great spots to take in the flat landscape! coords were all good but some of the climbing was a little challenging at some due to the rainy morning. TFTseries! 9/10

Had a DNF here back in August last Year. Came back and redeemed myself of this nemesis. A Quick find. A fantastic Series. Thanks **ThePacman.** TFTC.

29-Jan-17
There's a lot of metal to check here! I felt I had a better chance by looking upwards, so I jumped the fence and wandered around the front - much to the wonder of a couple of passing muggles. "You're not going to jump, are you?" I wouldn't recommend this searching method to anyone who doesn't like being close to a long drop, or in front of children or park rangers! .. but I discovered the cache OK, and then had to educate the muggles about the hobby. Especially how caches need to be replaced exactly as they are found (and not to set a bad example to passing tourists!) Job done - and TFTC

16-Jan-17
The heat must have gotten to us at this location as we tested every bolt and looked at all the angles and after 10 minutes still hadn't located this cache! A quick call confirmed our eyes aren't what they used to be and after a slice of humble pie we were on our way again. TFTC

01-Jan-17
The Famous Geo5 decided to take a day trip up to the You Yangs and we decided to do the great East West walk. We started in the opposite direction and all the way towards the first cache we had a great view all the way to geelong and the great tree tops. When we arrived at GZ we were even more stunned at the great view but it was time to get onto the cache and stop the nature documentary. Luckily for are sake there was not a muggle in sight and we were not going to be spotted looking around on the fall for the cache. We soon found another clever cache by Pacman and we were onto the next one TFTCPM

We have been wanting to do this series for some time now, its so close to us but I guess we were just too lazy to get to it.
But today we changed that, in great company topped with perfect weather made this day very enjoyable.
What a fantastic view from the viewing platform, and some great anchors points for some abseiling.
Now to work out some calculations for the final.
Thanks Mr Pacman for the great cache.

Out for a mid-winters walk with the GeoKids. This was our second DNF for the series, but more because the muggles beat us... it was getting darker and cold by the time we got here and we had the information needed for the final. Will have to come back in order to finish off the series.

13-Jun-16
.. The second last one on our hike, the platform was very busy and had to wait out a few muggles . I should have followed the instructions on the cache description and worked out the final... Thanks for the cache here Smile

Ok - got a phone call around #6 to come home. Geokids were fighting with each other, and Geowife has had enough. Had to hot-tail it around the course, skipping #7 and #8 (you may notice, Pacman, I kinda missed #3 and #4 along the way... my geonotes weren't too clear as to which ones were East and which were West, and I can't use the Geocache app in the field, my phone sucks! To whit, all my logs are done on the PC when I get home). However, I remembered helping SueHut find #9 months ago, so could slip this on in as I ran past.
Highly recommend doing this walk at sunset!
Well done Pacman!

07-Jan-16
I had an RDO today and Neville_devil was still on leave so we decided to try and convert the rest of the You Yangs into smilies. So the west walk was the first part of that mission. Again like when we did the East walk we left Neville's car around the other side of the great circle drive and started our walk from the turntable. We were soon at the lookout and the hunt was on. We soon found what we were after the log was signed and we were on our way again towards #8.

We finally made the East-West trek through the You Yangs, with DreamyDragon. The most dangerous one of the series. Took a while to find. Had to search from a few angles. Sore knees. In the YY area, some great rock piles to be found. Lots of Bushfire regrowth evidence too. Beautiful, even in the hot dry Summer. Wonder what it looked like when the Aboriginal people where here. Reperio at 1610.

Day 9 of my great Victorian geocaching trip ahead of the Melbourne mega event, and whilst things weren't going so great having ruptured my pectoralis tendon a few days in Bendigo, I figured that even with my arm in a sling, I could still enjoy the wonderful surrounds of the You Yangs and find a few caches.

This was the final cache visited in this series, as the mystery cache had gone walkabouts...and what a view to finish off on. After visiting so many wonderful natural lookouts and rock formations, it was almost a shame to see a man made lookout here. Fortunately there were no muggles around, which afforded me the time to search around until the cache was found. Loved the walk...but looking forward to returning here again one day.

Gratias ThePacman.

03-Nov-15
We will have to return to try and find this one. Far too many peeps coming by and making it tough for us to seek this one out. Far too many options too.

01-Sep-15
Over on a quick trip to Melbourne and felt the need for a nice bush walk and having had some experience with ThePacman's talents decided that his You Yang Views series was the ideal solution.
First day of spring, beautiful weather, so recruit muggle sister (to carry lunch) and head for the hill.
Lots of muggles out and about, carpark over half full.
Had a very enjoyable walk around the hill, took a break for lunch half way, then finished time away from the big smoke with coffee next to the carpark. Nice.
And many thanks to ThePacman for another fantastic series in an excellent location, good co-ords, nice hides, what more can I say.
Keep on caching

30-Aug-15
When I arrived at this cache, I was delighted to be standing at a lookout. There was a group of climbers on the rocks below. Spent some time watching them at play, enjoyed the view of Geelong and scenic landscape. Once muggle activity passed, I set to work to locate the cache. It took some perseverance but eventually I found this micro. Was not going to leave without a find. Delighted to add my name to the logbook and replaced as found. Left with rather sore knees.

Moving on... TFTC Pacman.

This cache proved a little more taxing than expected. Cache conainer was retrieved without difficulty however when extracting the log from its protective plastic bag Mrs Y'stassie managed to drop it. Of course it fell through the metal floor of the lookout platform. How to retrieve it? Fortunately she had a walking pole so extended it as far as possible and began to carefully push it towards the walkway. The wind was quite strong so she was a little panicy that the log might get blown away. The wind did grab it but blew it behind one of the walkway supports where she could easily grab it. Sigh of relief. Log signed and book returned to bag. Oh dear! as she closed the zip lock the log fell out the, until now unnoticed, split in the bottom of the bag. Never mind, she knew how to get it back. After some careful manoevering of the log with the walking pole the book was retrieved yet again. This time it was wrapped safely in the split bag. At last the cache was back where it had been hidden.
Having just read the previous finders log "future finders BEWARE of the SPLIT in the base of the plastic bag" when you are retrieving the log book.

Thanks for a memorable caching experience ThePacman. The heart was racing at times.
PS was too busy not losing the log book to notice the view from here.

28-Jul-15
Lucky I had geohubby with me. You don't have to leave the structure unless you drop the log book through the holes in the platform, TWICE, and then need someone more dextrous and sure of themselves than me!!!!! Thanks!!

18-Jul-15
Great views but it really did take us longer than we should have! We were excited, however, to realise that we did have the answers to A, B, C & D despite not realising to look closely at #1 & 2 and missing #6. Onwards! TFTC!

Found today at 8:47am.

04-Apr-15
Found in between muggles coming and going. I was supposed to let duckling find this one, but we were getting short on time and hubby was about to give up- so I found it. Duckling was very very unhappy. He quick marched all the way back to the car. Beat us by 100meters or so to the carpark. He's still mad at me!!! But I wasn't leaving without this one! Thank you!!

For a second I thought I was going to have to rock climb down. Lucky I was wrong Smile

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there ThePacman. We found your cache "You Yangs Views #9 - Geelong" at 1:34:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 10402.
[Blue]
We thoroughly enjoyed our "stroll" around the You Yangs today. While we were doing the walk in an anti-clockwise direction, everyone else seemedto be doing it the other way.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache exactly where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,

I have been waiting for just the right conditions to tackle these 10 caches and being midweek and about 20 degrees forecast all was ideal. I did my preparation last night noting that I would need clues along the way which were duly collected. The terrain was mixed but easy going with such a good track. the hides were varied and sometimes just plain fantastic.
The last cache in the preliminary series and of course I didn't expect to see anyone here and neither did I. Good cords meant I soon had the mint tin in hand.
Now for the final
Thanks Pacman

Had a lovely day out in the You Yangs today made better by this series of caches. Thanks to ThePacman for the effort in setting these up. A few of them were very well disguised and had us stumped for a while, in particular number three. Almost gave up and then, like a few others seem to have, just stumbled upon it. Will definitely back to this national park to pick up some other caches.

A fantastic walk. Thanks for series.
Enjoyed getting the rest of the series. All were well placed, creative hides and with perfect co-ords.
