We continued today our tour of Queensland and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. Thanks to Vatvedt, Falla!, charlieashton2 and crfrob for the generation of this nice cache Campbell St. (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Thanks so much to Strider06 for the maintenance. As the description says, when it was published, my friends wanted to do so as the cache was on their property and as a way to meet new people. They were to maintain it. As they moved away, the cache had to be moved and maintaining it was a bit harder. Even so, geocachers have been kind to maintain it for me. Strider06 will be able to check this up for me on occation (thank you!).If maintenance at any point no longer should be possible, the cache will be archived. Still, it's nice to keep it alive for as long as possible. It's a nice way for me to remember my stay in Emerald.
Hi Cachers! I replaced the container (small Sistema) and added a new log book! It would a shame to see such a great hiding spot get archived so thanks for the hide!
Our family is in town to celebrate Mel and Declan Breens wedding this weekend. Stopped in for a quick cache. Thanks for the cache!
Seems this might be gone. If anyone would like to replace the container and log, I'd really appreciate it. If not, this would unfortunately have to be archived. The family that lived where I placed it have moved away. So I no longer have anyone to maintain it.
Didn't find it but didn't have a super thorough search. Didn't want to go gardening in the middle of suburbia.
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Visiting Emerald fir a few days, mostly to find jigsaw related caches, this was an added bonus as we passed it on our route. Tftc
During our stay at the Emerald Motel, we had the opportunity to explore the area and find hidden caches. We also had the chance to take in the sights and sounds of the local area. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Vatvedt.
A quick park and grab while in town doing some shopping to keep our streak going. Thanks for find #5028TNLN
Today we are out and about exploring Emerald town, how it come about and finding some caches too. It was great to have a break from the long drive. TFTC
This was my final cache find for the day, as I ventured back into Emerald for a good night's sleep. It took a few minutes of searching until I located the cache, with its bounding coordinates roughly 6-10 m away from the posted coordinates. My GPSr suggested the cache was at S 23 30.785' E 148 09.741' in the closest tree and logical spot. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Vatvedt for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------This 1.5 week trip, the purpose was the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster (QOGM) in Longreach, with its aim to encourage tourism and support in rural towns. Departing from Brisbane on Friday 15/09/2023, I travelled solo taking the northern route through Gayndah, Emerald and Jericho on my way to the event, and then returned through Blackall, Morven, St George, Goondiwindi, and Toowoomba arriving back on Monday 25/09/2023.My Longreach highlights included the two QOGM muster/rally days visiting Muttaburra and Isisford; the Qantas Founders Museum; Stockmans Hall of Fame; Silver Tails Rail Sunset Tour; and the general historical town vibe. Other highlights to/from Longreach included climbing Mt Scoria; Barcaldine's Tree of Knowledge and kayaking in the water park; Blackall woolshed scour; and the smaller intriguing and historical towns that I passed through.During my travel days when I was time-poor, I targeted geocaches that were older in age, high D-T, puzzles/challenges, and rare cache types. In addition, I added 7-8 visited LGAs to my statistics. The scenery was memorable with picturesque sunsets, and a diversity of flora and fauna. There were plenty of kangaroos and wallabies, emus, goannas/lizards, brolgas, hawks, and alas wild hogs, and goats.Today, a full travel day was pencilled, driving from Gayndah to Emerald via Biloela.I started the day visiting the towns lookout before attending the local parkrun. Well and truly warmed up, I closed out my Gayndah visit with a drive up to the lookout and then visited the [Upside Down Bridge](https://coord.info/GC8ZMQ3) in the town across the river - an engineering masterpiece!I tend to be far too slow in my travel days morning, perhaps stopping at geocaches more than I should, although I enjoyed my visits to various towns. Perhaps at the hottest time of the day, I hurriedly hiked up Mt Scoria, and the basalt columns were impressive.I had lunch in Biloela and completed the [Biloela My Home Town](https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/af82ce36-2dcf-4ff3-ab59-75a503cad4f2) Adventure Lab, and then I decided to take fewer stops to then arrive in Emerald just as the light was fading. Post dinner, I tried to find a few more town geocaches, visiting the botanic gardens to the south, and more of the Emerald cotton geoart.
On a slow, meandering trip out to Longreach for the QOGM 2023 event.
Cache found in the expected area, within a reasonable time, without difficulties.
But the container was broken, so I've given it a new container.
Cache now in good condition.

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. A quick find here. A couple of caching days planned in and around Emerald to clear out the remainder of caches that we’ve been tackling over the last few years visits. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Easy find, haven’t seen a container like that before!! Haha
Found on part of our ‘north for warmer weather’ trip from North East Vic to Central QLD via Curtis Island! Today's leg Comet to Barcaldine.
Thank you to all the COs who maintain the caches along the way.

Late afternoon hunt for a couple of finds on our way through town and grabbed this quick find with a cheeky friend (snail) along for the ride on the cache! TFTC
Quick find on a Sunday arvo, very kid friendly. Would be cautious on a school day though!
Yay the hint led us directly where the cache was. Only problem was trying to find the location but the photos were much help
Our 2,000th find and we'll probably remember it for a bit. It's the first time in 3.5 years living in Straya that we've been swooped by a magpie, he was watching us sign the log too and made sure we were gone. Put in new log paper as the old was just torn into pieces.

Early morning tip for International Geocaching Day. Log is in a bit of a mess and I did not have any paper to replace it. Thanks.
If anyone can replace the log/container on this, it would be VERY much appreciated. If not, it would unfortunately have to be archived. :/
Found quickly but had trouble signing the log, it is in pieces and needs maintenance.

Scraps of paper were all the log was. I put CVx2 on one scrap for Crustyvarmint and Cybergran V.
We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.
Day 9 Today was spent in Emerald collecting all the jigsaw puzzles solved awhile ago. Never thinking we would actually get up here it was great to be able to put a smiley against the jigsaws. Nice tour around the area seeing a lot of cotton fields and the weather was great.
Picked this one up as well on our travels today.
Thanks for the hide Vatvedt, Falla!, charlieashton2 and crfrob

Today we are making our way towards Rocky as Diane as some work to do there on Monday and of course we aren't in a screaming hurry so we will be stopping and picking up as many caches on the way across as we can.
Travelling through Emerald we thought that we would stop and grab a cache just to break up the drive and this one didn't seem to have any Dnf's on it so we chose it.
We pulled up and followed the needle to gz where happily the cache was a nice quick find although we weren't one hundred percent sure that we had found it until we opened it. We haven't seen one of these containers used before.
We added our name and returned everything as it was.
Thanks for the nice quick park and grab.

Our road trip encountered another speed bump yesterday when we blew a tyre about 5km out of Emerald. So today the sightseeing of the town includes the tyre shop!
While waiting for it to be repaired LDavs went for a walk to collect a few nearby caches.
It was good to stretch the legs walking to this one. At GZ the hint was very useful and a quick find was made. Tftc

Well that was not the container I was expecting. Great idea!
There was a muggle working in his yard across the road so we had to be quick and sneaky. Found it quickly but needed a TOTT to get the log out.

Day 5 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
With two nights in Emerald, our daytime adventures focussed on this cotton series and others in the area. We had worked on all these puzzles during lockdown and never thought we would actually get here. But the lure of the Townsville Mega changed all that so here we are. We certainly had a fun day full of caching. Not too hot and no rain!
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,521. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 5 of our Townsville Trek, and we spent a full day and two nights here in Emerald to concentrate on this Cotton series. We spent a lot of time during Covid lockdown doing jigsaws, including this extremely well set up series (not knowing if we'd ever get up here - thank you CacheQLD Townsville Mega for the excuse to come here !). Most of these caches were quick finds, with just a few misleading us as to which side of the road it was and a few quite tricky hides. However we found them all which was the object of our visit. Thgis was a short detour to grab while doing the Cotton series. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.
Thanks Vatvedt !!
