Continuing along the WH series . Love this story and we know we can all relate to this Tftc
Out with weredunn4 in the Karoonda area continuing our effort to collect the Wandering Heroes caches plus others we come across.Slowly but surely we are inching our way along this very long power trail. All logs signed or stamped, and maintenance where possible and if required.TFTC
Tackling the Wandering Heroes series again, and surrounding caches, with Cheezel1961. All caches found and stamped. Really enjoying this series and a massive thanks too all those who created and maintain this unique trail.
Second Day up here that yielded about 118 finds. Most of the finds were along the wandering heroes series...An early 7am start with hot weather predicted. Caching with Mclookers, GoodLook and The Dame today so we had a lot of banter and fun.Lots of scrub negotiated at most caches..Some cache containers had completely perished..All logs signed Fabulous Randoms. Thanks
On a caching adventure today with feathertop, GoodLook and The Dame. Log signed Fabulous Randoms. We are enjoying the warmer weather. Thanks for placing the cache ajtmb.
Log signed "Fabulous Randoms"On a caching trip with Feathertop, McLookers and GoodLook. What a fun trip. The weather was warm and so was the company. We can really recommend staying in the 'new' Karoonda Tourist Park - the cabin was fantastic (and solar powered/kind on the environment). Thanks so much for placing this cache.---------------------------Will we see you at the Mega in Adelaide, South Australia on 29 February 2024? Check out GCA1DNA to log your will attend and to find out more.
Day three of tackling this series. Nearly gave up yesterday as scrub very hard to negotiate and caches small and hard to locate. Today was so much better. Big black plastic tubs, ammo tins and buckets. Some are brittle but so much more fun if you can find them without tramping under, over thick matter. Thank you for the change. Hope it continues from now on. We enjoyed today. Found 70 and 6 dnf. Thank you everyone.
New container thank you plesiosaur 22.

Another cache that needed replacing. Managed to obtain a few containers from CPW and replaced and logging the find today. TFTC ajtmb.
TFTC ajtmb. We are overnighting in Karoonda. After setting up and lunch we headed out, first around town with the Adventure Lab and some others in town,. The we headed out of town to attempt some of the Wandering Heroes Trail. We found 22 of them before calling it a day.

Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds.
That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series.
This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about.
Thanks for the cache ajtmb.

Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.
Back again to complete a bit more of this great trail. Thank you ajtmb for placing this cache.
Day 320 ( Tuesday 14th ) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Karoonda today. A total of 34 for the day and 6283 the trip. TFTC
Generic log:
After doing a good section of the Wandering Heroes series yesterday I decided to come back today and complete more of it. All caches were found in good condition on an enjoyable day, despite the weather pushing 40 degrees.

Hi there ajtmb.
We found your cache **"WH... SA4agers"** today. (This makes our find count 21716).
Today we headed out from Wellington to attempt the Wandering Heroes series caches we haven't yet done, as well as any others we came across on our travels.. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]
We found 49 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The containers and log books were mostly in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge in the majority of caches.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

This was our last day of being able to work on the Wandering Heroes trail with ilook4geo, but we were able to gather the smilies needed to complete this section. Again it was a mixture of conditions for the cache containers and logs. All found logs had two more lots of initials added before everything was put back. Our thanks go to ajtmb for placing this cache in the series that honours so many cachers.
The caching numbers continue to grow while out hunting with goingplaces2. The Wandering Heroes series was today's job, as well as some others and there were still plenty to find. Thank you to each CO for their contribution to the caching game. It's lots of fun.

Congratulations on being honoured on this trail.
Today I was out and about with gridge98 finding more Wandering Heroes and a few others on our journey. We stamped most logs "fabulous randoms".

A great day out with GoodLook collecting more of the wandering heroes that we didn’t collect 2 weeks ago. Overall we found majority of the caches in good quality and had to replaced 1 with the CO permission.
Signed all log books with the fabulous randoms stamp.

Second full day on the Wandering Heroes trail with woolwood9 today.
Enjoyed getting some more of them found.
Soon located this one, thanks for putting this cache out.

Quite a lot of caches are in a rough state - nice to see a good number of plastic ammo boxes been put out.

Out for the day finding Wandering Heroes and any other caches nearby [8].
Unfortunately, the severe heat out here has killed the container , only the holes holding it together [:o)]. TNLNSL.
Thanks Ajtmb.

Today we travelled from Karoonda to Alawoona and surrounds using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way with Roostaman and this was one of them. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Found with Beaker on a long weekend caching run... 337 caches in 2.5 days! Broke some personal records, had very little sleep, lots of caffeine, a few minor injuries and a heap of fun! Some great caches found, well done to everyone involved. Thanks
Found with FerociousFlea on our 2017 June Long Weekend Wandering Heroes Caching Run. Totals included 155 on Saturday, 176 on Sunday and 6 early Monday, making for 337 caches in a little over 48 hours.
Thanks to all of the cache owners and caching teams that have this series named after them. Thanks also to those who make the effort to maintain other's caches so that people like us can do these caching runs. Apologies for the generic logs...

We have had two previous attempts at this amazing trail , so have returned this year to get some of the ones we missed previously and some that have been placed since we were last there. Lovely to do caches with names we recognise from caches we have done and people we have met at various events. Thanks for placing and maintaining this great trail Most caches were in good condition
Spending a couple of days in Karoonda grabbing a few more of the Wandering Heroes trail.
Cache all good.
Thanks ajtmb for the cache

A quick and easy drive by as we cache our way through this series. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
In Karoonda to pick up a birthday gift, so we decided to add to our Wandering Hero tally while in the area.
Only a few finds were made today, despite Mrs Gizmo wanting to tackle more.
We always enjoy our forays to this series as each hide is unique in its tribute to a worthy cacher.
A quick find was made and we were soon on our way again. Container and contents in good condition.

Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.
Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. Cache # 130 of 221 for this long weekend.
The Parrot was on a roll to try and get closer to the 10, 000 mark as this last 500 seems to be taking forever.
Unfortunately the knee didn't hold out and I had to retire from the field.
If you have stitches in your knee you really should cover them over before pushing though bushes.
I had a fantastic time cashing down some trails that have been in GSAK for far to log,
I worked on the Oz Mega, OTD, Geopets and Wandering heroes series over 2 days.

MY LAST FOR THE DAY AT 11:59pm!!
After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!
One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!
I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.
Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.
After this I cut through to Wandering Heroes and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heroes.
From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.
441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.
Thanks for all the wonderful caches around this area, and sorry for generic logs.

I had a full day planned to wander down the trail today and it was well needed, so many new cache placement since my last visit nearly three years ago. Some very creative placements found and a very enjoyable day's caching. Cheers to all our heroes, and those that have honoured them.
Thanks for this one ajtmb

I found this cache today as number 155 of 161 in company of Cold Freeze on our Karoonda Road Run III. Our first run back in 2008 was well before Wandering Heroes and yielded just 14 caches along the entire road and our caching figures were in the 2,000's back then. Our second run in 2012 brought us 160 caches where we started at Loxton and continued caching all the way past Karoonda to just before the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction. From there, we headed into Tailem Bend for Dinner and continued back from there for a few extra caches before giving up about an hour before dark. Our caching numbers were in the 5,000s at that time. Today, with caching numbers now in the 8,000s, we picked up at the point we had left off last time near the Murray Bridge - Tailem Bend Junction and headed south with the aim of finishing off all of these caches then caching our way back towards Loxton. I had not counted the caches in this section before leaving home and I thought that there were probably about 80 caches there. Once we got them all done, we found that there were just over 140 left in that area so we didn't get much past Karoonda on the way back after all. A great day though nonetheless and there looks to be at least one more full caching day to come at some stage. Thanks to all cache placers in this series today from D B-A.
On a WH mission today to try to get to 100 caches for the day. Stupidly I forgot sunscreen so was getting scorched along the journey. Drank about 5 litres of water and found 103 caches. If I'd had a co-driver could have found alot more but alas not he was harvesting. Enjoyed listening to the cds I got for Christmas on the 5 hour return trip to get to/from Tailem Bend from Naracoorte. TFTC and apologies for the generic logs.
Happy Halloween TheCatBandits out cache trick or treating. Found cache no worries TFTC
Quick find on a mission to find as many caches as we could in a day. We found 112. Thanks to everyone for hiding caches we found. Sorry for the copied logs.

"Sneaky Squeaky™" Woz ere.Out today doing some caching with friends. found this cache in our travals so put a smiley in the logbook. thanks for the effert you put into hiding this cache and thanks for bringing us here also. I was very happy to get this cache off my todo list. From Me To You From SQ72 T.F.T.C
Mr M-SEZ spent the day caching with SneakySqueaky. We left town before sunrise and headed for the Karoonda Highway to take care of some Wandering Heroes caches and beyond. We had a great run. By lunchtime we had cleaned up all of the WH caches team I left behind on previous trips.
After that we spent some time exploring the dirt roads off the highway finding some of the more isolated caches before heading back to the Sturt Highway via Loxton and Moorook. All told we added 81 caches to our tally.
Thanks again to CP Wanderer for starting the wonderful WH series, and thanks to all of the cache creators for adding your creations to this series and the surrounding area.

It's been over three years since I visited The Wandering Heroes series, was very close to having them all then but it's certainly grown quite a bit since.
Started today at Sandalwood and managed to find all outstanding back to Karoonda and a little beyond before the car door hinges cried enough, lets go home.
Loved the variety of hides and am now looking forward to reading about all the teams featured.
Love the concept, thanks CP, the execution and maintenance of this outstanding series.
Thanks for this contribution from ajtmb

After visiting my brother in Murray Bridge I am now actually heading for Queensland for the Mega and picking up the rest of the Wandering Heroes series that I haven't yet done with a few others along the way.
Had a very good day with only a couple of no finds and a couple near Karoonda where muggles were everywhere for the farm day so stopped me even looking.
No problems with finding any of the caches that I did find.
Thanks ajtmb for the cache.

Project “Centroid” was on. After a bit of planning Fleabag and I decided to head towards Adelaide again for the long weekend to get 500 or so caches to move our centroid far enough away from home to complete a challenge cache in Melbourne. We managed to get 501 just for good measure.
At the same time we tried to get a few areas of Victoria done on the way there and back to start working on another challenge cache back in Melbourne.
Today was a wandering heroes day until we had to head into Murray Bridge to pickup some replacement caches from the CO to replace a number of the Oz Mega series that are missing which we will fix up tomorrow.
Thanks for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

Spiffy- and I were on a project to get 500 caches in 4 days that were over 100km from our home locations. I reallly enjoyed this series and the themed hides. Great idea and a nice tribute to all the cachers. With each cache we would recall if we had met them at events and what caches they owned. A long and tiring but very enjoyable day. Thanks for the cache.
Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.

Yep always good to remember the person you need to blame for a huge fuel bill, we blame our son, Ride The Tiger, he got us hooked.
Starts off as a bit of something to do on a weekend, then the odd find during the week then everytime the notification on our phone goes off we pounce on it just in case its a new publishing, haha.
Love the WH series, its a great chance to learn a little more about our geocaching community.
Thanks ajtmb for the cache, signed log and replaced as found.

Our third attempt at completing the WH series, and we still didn't manage to finish it... So I'm secretly excited to have to organise yet another caching expedition with mum and dad Sylken to run to the finish line (at least until someone publishes some more new ones .
We had a much cooler day for our outing this time, but the wind was pretty ferocious! Nevertheless, as always we had a ball.
Thanks to all the cache owners in the series. Your efforts at placing and maintaining the caches in the series are greatly appreciated.

Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here in Murray Bridge for our third assault on the WH series. We had cached as far as just north of Karoonda and felt we may be able to finish the rest of those published to date, as far as Loxton. We were very wrong...we left Murray Bridge at 07.30 and finished caching at about 17.45 and by then we had still only reached Alawoona. We still have over forty to find
We had a howling wind all day....a lot of the time spent bending into the wind to stay upright while searchng for caches. Let's not even discuss what it was like to open and close 4x4 doors with a gale blowing up our rear end, we all now have overextended arm muscles At least on the way there we had great fuel economy. We won't talk about the (non)economy we had on the way home
We found about a hundred caches and had no DNF's at all. We found some really nice caches, dedicated no doubt to some really nice cachers. We have found several more caches in one day in the past but are using the appalling wind as an excuse for not finishing the series today.
We saw very little wild life...some shinglebacks, one roo and two echidnas...oh and a bunny who took off like the proverbial...rabbit?? We actually saw a couple of his mates too, but they were many metres away instead of only about three metres with this little fellow. Thankfully we saw no snakes...they obviously don't like strong wind either
We stopped at the Karoonda pub for dinner....very basic ,but filling, and arrived back at base after dark and somewhat exhausted
Many thanks for the hide ajtmb[^][^][^]

We had planned a family geo trip a few weeks ago and I left it up to the geo wife to decide where she wanted to go. Murray Bridge was one of three places to visit. Lucky she decided on this area, so we could try for 200+ in a day [^] Sometimes the parking was very difficult being double white lines and plenty of passing cars, having a companion to drive / swap with made this series that little bit easier. It was a very hot day & plenty of hours were spent in the car with much water needed. We found some great containers & loved the idea of this series. Now to rest the wheels....
[blue]Thanks for this cache, ajtmb & to everyone for the series TNLN[/blue]

Found with the WAFF group - teams [blue] Waldron & Astro, four-fun and Freddo [/blue] on a weekend full of fun, dust, plastic, and clear blue skies. The boys used their combined geo-skills to locate and carefully replace this cache and some of the others nearby.
Thanks to ajtmb and clear skies from TeamAstro.
Seen many logs from these cachers. Nice to see their cache.

We headed down to South Australia for a few days of caching, and the Wandering Heroes series was next up on our list, with a few other caches in between We started off nicely and early today before hitting the trails, and after a slow start, we soon picked up the pace, and were on a roll Many of the them were quite unique, and as most had good hints and obvious hides, we managed to get them knocked off quickly We enjoyed these caches, as they were all pretty straight forward, and it never took long to find each cache We managed to finish off the day with only a few dnf's too

Coming back to the Wandering Heroes is now a permanent fixture on the itinerary for each of our visits to South Australia. The series is so dynamic with a significant number of caches being added between each of our visits. We have learnt so much about other cachers. Thanks CPwanderer for starting this series and for your ongoing oversight and support.
South Australia4agers began their caching life in January 2011. As well as having found almost 1500 caches in South Australia and hidden 3, this team appears to be responsible for ajtmb’s addiction to the game. We have yet to meet this team but have found one of their three hides, “GC448BV Kalimna Ford” near Nuriootpa, last year.
Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache ajtmb.

Found this whilst on a caching run with McPhan to SA, leaving our 'McWin' stamp as we went. This was unfinished business for us, having passed through here last year and missing the Mega this year.
A somewhat generic log for these, sorry, though the caches were certainly not generic. Definitely a lot of effort and imagination gone into these tributes, and only a few DNFs for us.
Thanks ajtmb for the cache.

[center]7877. [green] Apologies to all the hiders, many of which have gone to great lengths/effort to theme their tribute caches as a true homage to the recipient of such a worthy tribute, for the generic log. I have avoided doing copy and paste logs as long as I could but when you end up doing over 800 in six days and covering (very) conservatively 1700kms. (Winglen can most likely update that).
Congratulations to all the recipients for being worthy of a tribute. (McPhan and Winglen are very open to accepting a cache in this trail..... )
A fun second run along this trail which was a lot less tiring that the first foray where we whipped up over 270 for the day. Today we managed a 201 cache day - hence the genericism.
Thanks for the cache [blue]ajtmb[/blue] and the gatherers.[/green][/center]

On the way to Loxton - enjoyed search, found and signed the log. Thanks to who organising the cache and hide...
After spending one night at Tailem Bend I was then off to finish the Wandering Heroes Series. Thanks to all who put the caches out to honour the heroes. Some of the containers are brilliantly created.
Thanks ajtmb for the cache

One of my challenges I set myself for my trip to the SA MEGA was to see how many caches I could find in 24 hours.
Today was the day. I parked the car the night before out at the furtherest point of the caches of the OZ MEGA 2014 and slept the night there with the alarm set for just before midnight.
My aim was to complete the OZ MEGA 2014 caches then start along the Wandering Heros series and see how far I got.
At midnight I started. With no one else on the roads I moved quickly along each of the roads looking for those little 'suspicious piles of stones'. By 6 am I had just the arrow head to go. I stopped the car and changed clothes as I was getting hot in the thermals. ... and the car would not start. 2 hours later the RAA turned up and said I had a flat battery. [?] [?] [?]
Found the remaining caches (except the couple that are now missing) and headed south for the Wandering Heros series finding the odd one along the road.[^]
The Wandering Hero series are different containers at different distances from the road so they were a little trickier to find at times and my find rate slowed down a little. Slowly the day continued and my count continued to grow, passing 200 and 300. Just after 7:30pm I passed 400 caches and I eventually stopped at 8pm exhausted just before Mindarie.
20 hours and just over 400 caches.
Apologies for the cut and paste logs.

The journey continues, together with Suscoe we are trying to track down more of the Wandering Heroes. It seems to be an unachievable goal as the number of heroes keeps growing. We enjoyed reading the cache notes and predicting a hide which would match the characteristics of the hero. Some of the cache hides are very well matched to their hero.
Thanks to ajtmb for the cache.

Suscoe headed out today for a long day of caching in the company of Phetlern to both the south and north of Karoonda.
We had a great day caching, chatting and fun with Pheltern.
After a very quiet night out here in the Mallee area we were ready to take on this challenge.
All up today we were able to reach 150 finds, a very satisfying number.
Our logs were signed in our fast mode with "S and P".
We had decided to do these caches in safe mode with an outbound and an inbound order which ended up to work pretty well and mostly avoided the worry of crossing the road.
Thanks to ajtmb for placing this cache.

Found this cache while In SA to attend Oz Mega. Travelled today from Tailem Bend to Sandalwood.. Enjoyed the variety of caches along the way and the many novel hides. Thanks for your cache ajtmb
Found by Mary & David at 1411. It has been almost exactly two years since our first encounter with the Wandering Heroes, and many more have been added since then. Today we are revisiting the section south from Borrika. We haven't met SA4agers yet, but we have found 2 of their caches. Our thanks to ajtmb.
Out and about on this fine day with fellow cacher friends Liz and Bruce doing a lot of the Wandering heroes caches and close by ones. Many thanks to all that hide them and for there upkeep. Sorry for the late log and copy and paste.
The Mega Event has come to an end Now it is the long drive home and back to work At least there are a few caches to be had on the way home Thank you for placing this one!
With the main activities of the mega out of the way but also well into the day we headed out with Goblindust, our visitor from Seattle in the USA to find as many caches as we could before dark. We found a few caches before hitting the Wandering Heroes trail. Each time we came across a name we had some history with we reflected on the wonderful time we had shared with this geocaching team. When we stop geocaching (one day) I am sure it will be the people we remember rather than the geocaches [^][^]. Nice one. Thanks to ajtmb for placing this cache.
