Easy find once at GZ, though getting the log out was difficult and it was a bit wet. Still managed to sign my name before heading back to the carpark. Thanks smoking gun and TaraTed.
A quick find without the hint. Thanks for another great walk that we would never have found!
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park in Bell Block, New Plymouth … decided we’d go for a drive to the Ratapihipihi Reserve & pick up the DoC Kiwi Guardian … while there we decided to walk the loop tracks & see about some caches … deceptive little reserve, with quite an extensive network of tracks which we enjoyed … this cache was easily found, log-book completed & safely returned … gets a Favourite Point from us … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,358 for us!
I've found this cache during my first day of the Queen memorial weekend in Taranaki.
Easy with a good hint.

Lovely little camo and nicely placed. Beautiful trees here and we are really enjoying our walk! Tftc
Ratapihipihi Revisited (Taranaki) was transferred from smoking gun to user TaraTed
It looks like the rain washed the cache away. We have replaced it in a pumice rock in front of the tree. Cheers K&C

Such a lovely day that it was probable the best GPS reception we could get amongst the trees today. It's still not a perfect fix but it is better.

Well at long last I get a smilie face for this one instead of the dreaded blue dot. I’ve looked several times but always at the wrong tree. I couldn’t see the horse and it was getting a bit late to be in their on my own so I’ll look for the horse another day, it’s a really lovely place to go for a stroll on a sunny day. Tftc and the extra hints
Went to check if it was there and it was!!. But we have now added more clues to the description and some more pictures because GPS reception is not good.
Had no reception and forgot to load and look at hints before we went in. So will leave this one for another day
No find here. We wold have put in a replacement, but were not absolutely sure where it should go.
Have been meaning to come back to this reserve for ages to come grab this one. Today was the day and as it hasn’t rained for a few days the track was in great condition for winter. Did the whole waterfall loop, and heard some lovely bird song. Took us awhile at GZ as GZ was actually 35m out. We looked and looked the hint photos but it wasn’t until we backtracked did we find it. Was glad to sign the log. Another dot day ticked off, thanks.
The waterfall was much smaller than I expected, maybe there’s another bigger one further along I asked...we had a big look for cache and lined the photo up side by side with every tree in the area. Jumped for joy when we found it! TFTC
I went for a walk with JrGun9 to grab this and the other near by cache on this hot day. This park was surprisingly crowded as there seemed to be an event of sorts happening.
I over shot GZ and after a back track to the wrong spot soon was at the correct spot for an easy find.

I had a DNF here on my previous visit so I was pleased to see the help since provided by the CO. I couldn't see the plastic kiwi but the photos were very helpful. An enjoyable walk on a nice evening. Thanks.

The cache is still there. However the GPS coverage is so flighty in this valley that we have added a few photos to help you. There is now a small plastic kiwi nailed to a small tree low down on the opposite side of the track to the cache.
Lovely walk in this reserve today. My co-ordinates were way out, so the directions and hint were very helpful. Thanks for bringing me here, TFTC
Directions were spot on, found and signed the log. Very nice walk had as well, good use of Waitangi Day.
So great to turn a blue face into a smiley! The help of the updated clues made a big difference, and knowing the gps was out by 30m did too (didn't help last time we were searching the wrong tree! Swag swapped TFTC
The gps co-ordinates are off by 30m but keep walking. It's an easy find in the right place.
We thought that it had gone but then carried on down the track and came across the cache. The place has changed so much , with the big tree that has fallen across the track and that the landslide ( that was there when we created the cache has disappeared ) under the undergrowth. We hope that the clues we have added help you. Cache is in good condition.
To many little logs all over the place. Someone left a plastic bag stuffed in tree and it got my hopes up
Had a decent look but dnf. Pretty sure we had the right spot, but just couldn't get it. We will be back!
Last time hunted and hunted and couldn't find it. Came back a 2nd time, followed the description and cache was quickly found. GPS off by quite a bit. Left silver bear and took silver bangle. TFTC, cool walk with the kids!
I found the slip, I found the tree, I found the sawn log I think, but I didn't find the cache, but I did do a lot of bush bashing, clambering around, maybe better luck next time, tftc, I love this spot
GPS has taken me the long way home from the Mega. Finding some good caches along the way, TFTC
Tried a decent amount of time on this. GPS all over the place, and sawn logs everywhere. Maybe another day.
Found 1st cache but had no luck with this one. GPS all over the place and approaching from wrong direction did not help us (or ignorance of tree names).
Fantastic walk in a lovely bush remnant. Co-ords a little off for us +/- 30mtrs but good clue got us to the spot. Fav point given. TFTC
Found with Tony today. Bit if a walk. Will be back to find the other cache another time. Left a diamond. Thanks for the cache
Found with kids. Cache still dry. Sadly doesn't seem to get visited very often. TFTC.
Found the cache while walking the Nikau Loop. Excellent hide. Took Langford Goat TB to new pastures. TFTC
Found cache with osbourneroadoddballs. Great cache, fantastic place to visit! Grabbed Britts Discovery, hoping to help it on its journey!
Slightly off. Face the slip up the hill and look to the left.
Cool container and cool to take a t bug for a walk. Great adventure with the cousins evisser8. Tftc.

Found it after searching at the first big buttress tree for ages. Lined ourselves up with a previous log photo, and eventually found it at the second big buttress tree. Dropped 4 tbs so cache now very full. Tftc
Is a bit farther than what co-ordanates show but well worth it, cool place to go! TFTC
This was another of my 'workplaces' when employed by Lands & Survey Dept back in the 80's so I know the area well. Kept these two caches back for today's orienteering event in the immediate vicinity. Easy grab. Lovely area. TFTC Found FarmtagZ Number 3 and will move her on to Canterbury in a fortnight.
A beautiful scenic reserve, remember finding another cache here many years ago. Enjoyed our revisit to Ratapihipihi, TFTC.
Up visiting my mother and time to cool off in this cool little reserve in a very hot New Plymouth today.

Was taking advantage of daylight savings and brought the family for a walk around the reserve... After nabbing the other cache nearby I had to come back and sign the new log book on this one after being the original FTF
Took ladybug and grasshopper TB and left purple figurine and sheep TB

Thanks smoking gun for a chance for a revisit it's such a lovely place. Took the lady bird for a walkTFTC
Sun's finally shining, although it's still pretty wet underfoot.
A nice little track. No muggles to be seen, although I see Juty bug beat us to the TB today.
Left a TB & a pet rock - a ladybug

had to re visit this beautiful reserve.....well kept paths kept in their natural manner..Didn't see many birds on this visit. wasn't sure whether we were suposed to go on the waterfall loop or not but Gps lead us there so we followed and found cache. Met "priceless time" on his way down to the cache. had lunch up at car park in the warm sun! did a spot of CITO... thanks for giving us a good reason to go back to this lovely reserve. just fitted in a flat TB....

Second time into this lovely bit of bush. Very good information at various trees along the way. Meet up with Wil677. First time meeting a fellow Geocacher. Removed Hops the Frog. SL. TFTC.
Once again, we did things the hard way. We got to the reserve a little after 5 o'clock, and decided to have an evening walk first. Had absolutely no luck in getting a GPS lock the entire circuit and ended up back at the car to get a fix, then headed back into the trees for the cache. We got to Ground Zero and found the GPS was very sketchy, and had us the wrong side of the clearing area. After having another look at the directions, we moved another thirty metres along the trail. By this time it was well dark, and we were doing everything by torch light, but it didn't take long to find the cache.
Took it to pieces slowly, signed the log, and reassembled it again. Thanks for getting us out here again, we wanted to make a return visit and this was a good excuse.

An earl morning stroll to find this one... Will have to come back and do the walks justice... Had a bit of trouble getting a fix but the description helped... Signed log and rehid the cache. TFTC
