My favourite person in the whole wide world has found this one. It's existence is to be no longer.

Bye, bye, and bring back geocaching of old!

We went through St Arnaud on our northern Victoria trip on our way home and I was looking for Multi caches. I was so pleased to find this one. I was left here to do the cache while The Driver went to do something else. The final question was the hardest to find, but I found it in the end. I sat in the shade of a nearby tree to calculate the final coordinates. It was quite close so I headed over to find it. I like an easy multi cache on a hot day to get me moving and my brain working.

With travel plans disrupted due to border closures there was an opportunity to plan a country Victoria caching trip and having been unable to attend the St Arnaud mega last year it was decided to explore this area.

Found with gwd.aussie after solving over having lunch.

Welcome back from Covid. If there are issues with the cache after the length of time in situ please message me.

20-Jul-20
Due to a rise in Covid-19 I have made a conscious decision not to undertake cache maintenance as I feel that it doesn’t fit one of the reasons for being out during this pandemic. As I work in Melbourne in an emergency service but live regional I will not be putting myself or my community at risk.

I therefore am disabling all of my physical caches for the time being. The caches them self will be left in situ.

I won’t be deleting logs or anything like that and I intend to enable them again once I feel that my safety or that of my community won’t be put at risk.

I apologise for the inconvenience.

Solved th is one after our last visit so went and made the find quickly today. TFTC

Lunch in St Arnaud and a few very enjoyable caches. We occasionally have trouble with a misplaced digit, so loved the checker, Many thanks strange quark1

Huge disadvantage of coming a month too late is that you do it all solo. Advantage is you get hints from those that have been. Loving my afternoon in St Arnaud. Thanks for the hide.

18-Nov-19
We needed to find a Multi-cache today as a qualifier for a daily Multi-cache Challenge cache and so just before leaving St Arnaud at the end of a thoroughly enjoyable Mega Event we stopped off to undertake this one. We soon had the numbers required and then with our GPS updated with the corrected coordinates we continued on towards Ground Zero where the cache was soon located. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

17-Nov-19
As per usual, I am finishing my last Mega logs just b4 the next Mega, only missed the last 20 odd caches this time. Mark and I picked this one up on our second last day in St Arnaud.
We were doing this multi while many friends from near and far were watching, offering help and advice. We certainly Marshalled the troops here.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.

We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.

Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. This cache was one of these found as we headed towards Kooreh. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks strange quark1 for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

Day 3 St Arnaud Mega
Today was a much lower numbers day as we had done all the 'mega' trails. So it was about quality over quantity and of course you have to leave some for next time, right?! I still have a few FUF T&C trails to come back for, plus way too many puzzles!
We went back for more coffees and sandwiches from the Dabbling Duck, we did like their coffee! Fueled up in town for the journey back home too.
So JJ52 and I did a few randoms and then headed into the forest to do the O&A series which was great! We had also planned on doing the TLT series but just not enough time.
Then back into town for a few more random caches, several of which JJ52 had found on a foray with other cachers earlier in the week. Then it was off to the GIFF and then the big long drive back to Adelaide. Luckily the company was good and LiB and I chatted all the way back to Murray Bridge, it was a much 'safer' drive than the one over!!!
All up it has been a most excellent weekend and I am extremely grateful to all the cachers who placed hides for us to find and the awesome Mega committee for putting on such a great 'show', brilliant.
This was the first find of the morning. TFTC and this great series strange quark1, I still seem to have several left to find!

During my holidays in Australia, I'm here in the area for the St Arnaud Mega Event. So I also searched for some caches nearby . This was one of it.

Thanks for the hide.

Had a bit of help with this one from a fellow cacher. Thanks for the heads up and also to the group of guys having lunch across the road that pointed me in the right direction at gz.

17-Nov-19
Well the weekend is here and the hoards of cachers have been turning up all week and it is now the Mega weekend so that means lab caches, signal the frog, more events and catching up with friends and making some new ones.
After helping out at the Mega site in the morning I then went out and found the new series that had been put out since I was last here then attended the GIFF and now to try and find a few close ones around town before tea.
These green dots have been been haunting me in all of the visits up here and with a load of cacher’s walking around town I wouldn’t be so conspicuous trying to find them.
I found the statue standing proudly in the gardens and after he gave up his answers I did some maths and soon tried some coords.
After getting a few different sets of coords from not sure what I was supposed to be counting I set off to check a couple of spots , I found the cache in the third place I looked with a help from the hint.

Thanks strange quark1 TFTC.

Found on day four of my St. Arnaud Mega event adventure and after knocking off all of the lab caches on offer, it was time to go grab some physical ones!

Swung by this one whilst waiting for the sun to go down to meet up with Canberra geo buddies for a night cache. Worked out the info and calcs needed for this one nice and quick. A short drive to GZ and the quick find was revealed. What a pretty little park! Lovely!

Thanks for the hide, strange quark1 Cool

Fitzy_1965 and I arrived in St Arnaud yesterday afternoon. Tagging along were two of my geokids, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

Day 2 - Up early for breakfast, registration and a fast paced pathtag swap before heading out to pick up lots of smileys. Stopped for the GIFF event, now to keep caching. Quick find here today after doing recon yesterday.

Our last day in St Arnuad as we head out in the morning to melb to fly back to Tassie, so it was grab a few of the local caches we had overlooked and a couple of series's we had heard good things about.

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

Found on 17/11/2019 at 9:11:00 AM
The best caches I have found so far by type are:-
Traditional [Moorgreen P3:1, Penny Pincher](http://coord.info/GC32Z5B) By [Sven&Cup](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=6596795)
Multi [CoaledHearted](http://coord.info/GCKGZ5) By [CraigRat](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=256663)
Unknown [Men In Black Holes](http://coord.info/GC1DVB0) By [SG-3](http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?A=918045)

Sunday was our last full day so before meeting Tassie Trekkers to do the fantastic TLT series we popped out and collected a few puzzles, traditional and wherigos but not before we picked up a coffee!
It was quiet out on the streets around town but we did meet up with a few others as we went further out of town.
I like multi caches and there were plenty here to satisfy me. The history involved is interesting and always make me think about the past.
Thanks strange quark1

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.

FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.

Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).

On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

19,528. Found with minniek during our epic visit to the St. Arnaud region for the 2019 Victorian Mega Event.

Day 2 - We headed out after breakfast for what we knew would be a great days caching. After the GIFF Event we continued on caching. The drive around the area was a lot of fun today. This was a nice simple multi. Answers gathered, coords calculated, and a quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Thanks strange quark1 !!

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache strange quark1!

I was visiting St Arnaud for the Mega. After a busy morning I headed into the centre to look for a few of the other caches that were here. As I usually do with multis I got one number wrong but soon realised the error of my ways. Once armed with the correct coordinates it didn't take long to find the nicely hidden cache. Numerous trackables were visited today. TFTC!

No problems with math, but reading comprehension was less than adequate. However, solved correct coords in the hard way and found cache itself easily. Interesting piece of history.

A weekend of caching with AlphaDeltaIndigo and Ying-Yang in St Arnaud, along with a heap of other people. We stayed at Wedderburn, and commuted to St Arnaud each day, and what an amazing area this was to cache in! We very much enjoyed our trip to the Northern Grampians Shire! My fifth Victorian Mega (sixth overall) and can't wait to come back next year and do it again!

Find #3999
Multi Find #356**

St Arnaud MEGA Day 1. An early, but not too early start for the first day of this Mega. More excellent caches around St Arnaud to be found and this was one of them. SteMicMitSar and I joined forces and we set off together to tackle those caches which we didn't have time to find over the Grand Final long weekend.

**Thank-you to strange quark1 for placing this geocache**

It's that time of the year again, Victorian Mega time, so its off to St Arnaud for myself and the ladies of FurfacesLL. A long road trip ahead, heading off Friday morning and getting home late Monday night and a fun filled weekend. We found many caches of all kinds of variety.. Trads, Multis, Puzzles, EC's, Virtuals, Letterboxes, Wherigos, Events, Cito's and of course, the Mega itself. We enjoyed the weekend and there sure are some unique caches here in St Arnaud, we still have plenty left to collect, so may need to coordinate another trip this way some time.

Today was the day of the FROG.... 4 teams who have joined up to attack some of the trails consisting of FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, Ozibags and GoodLook, making up F.R.O.G. We have signed the logs as FROG to save room in the logs.

Didn't take too long to work this nice multi out, very informative, thanks [^] No issues at the GZ, quick find and quickly replaced.

Thanks for the hide strange quark1 Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another amazing trip away Big Grin

We teamed up with Rapidlywild and headed down from Canberra for another Geocaching Victoria Mega, we arrived at our accommodation in Bendigo on Friday afternoon / evening and checked out a few caches in the area before retiring for the evening. On Saturday morning, we had a pleasant drive across to St Arnaud, arriving at the event as the opening ceremony was wrapping up, and the lab caches were released, so we joined the frenzy with the masses solving the cleverly constructed lab caches.
We made arrangements with GoodLook and Ozibags to meet up and attack some of the trails around the area. So today we signed all the trail caches as F.R.O.G this consisted of 4 teams FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, Ozibags and GoodLook.
We saw some great caches this weekend, well done to the owners for the variety and thanks for the fun team.

Between trials we decided to call past this one. Quick find and sign and on our way.

Thanks for the hide strange quark1

Staying at the nearby Mega, we ventured out for some lunch and a spot of caching. Out with the whole fam plus muggle friend on this beautiful sunny day.
We had a nice lunch at a nearby establishment after which we ventured over to the statue to collect some information to complete this cache.
Not being good at maths whatsoever, geo hubby was left in charge to do the calculations. After a short while and a few mistakes, we finally made it to GZ where a quick find was made.
Log book getting very full with only a few blank spots left to sign.
Enjoyable walk through the park, stopping by a magnificent Bunya Bunya Pine tree ??.

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud mega. It is highly satisfying to have found this one! Yesterday we attempted to solve the multi and our good friend Loci612 came over to assist us while he was getting some lunch nearby - despite our efforts, our coordinates kept coming out incorrect or impossible (ie. decimal numbers). Later on last night we got a couple of hints from some previous finders and soon enough, we and Loci had calculated the correct coordinates - woohoo! Today we (no Loci) visited GZ for a quick find - the lid of the container is no longer there, but all was dry and fine. Awesome statue to visit and a lovely park to explore - TFTC strange quark1!

We were the only ones here when we started working on the co-ordinates but by the time we made some wrong observations and did some stupid maths errors we were joined by more caching teams, all like us who couldn't get a green checker. We were fairly confident about one part of our co-ordinates and that's how we found the cache. Thought we'd marshal the other solving troops to give some help but found they'd all left.

The log was full so we added a logbook from the Millicent Event here this morning. TFTC strange quark1.

**This Cache:**

I bumped into toy hunters yesterday attempting this multi, as we were eating lunch across the road. So I ran over and joined him, but we couldn't get the checker to give us a green light.

So that night at the dinner event we got some help from a fellow cacher, and turns out we had misinterpreted one of the questions!

So with coords in hand this morning, we grabbed it before the Vision 2020 event in the park

Thanks!

**Today:**

Day 3 of the St. Arnaud mega with DSD and ZQX!

Today's main goal was to complete all of the lab caches, swap pathtags, complete our registration, hit some of the traditional trails, some more letterbox's and of course the two events + CITO. We also ticked off a few more solved puzzles that were on the list! A 12 hour day between the first and last find!

Thanks again to all the CO's for your efforts Smile

As we gathered around the statue to commence this multi, a very nice geocacher gave us an answer to one of the questions, that apparently people were having a few problems with. So calculations complete, and the geo checker giving us the green tick, we were off to GZ for a nice quick find.

Thanks strange quark1 for the cache, and thanks to the anonymous cacher for your help.

Driving around St Arnaud today, collecting some of the smiley's that papi doesn't have. I am logging some of them as it shows me where I have been. All caches were in good condition unless otherwise stated. Although it is a shame that some of the previous finders didn't take a little more care in their replacement of logs, caches and cammo.
Thanks to all the CO's that have placed all the caches, giving us a great day out.
THANK YOU.

Took much longer than it should due to our, er, suss mathematics.
Got there in the end, aided after dark by a local with a powerful spotlight on the front of his 4WD.
Thanks, mate ????

Well math never was my strong suit in school, even though I did enjoy it.
After thinking we had the right numbers we just couldn’t get the right cords. A bit of a shuffle and some double checking had things looking better.
At GZ we had some assistance from a complete stranger who had no idea what we were doing and just wanted to lend a hand and some very bring car spot lights. Much Appreciated ????

Staying in St Arnaud for the week for the mega.
This afternoon I headed out solo to find a few local caches I’ve not yet found. This was a fun multi. Bumped into spiffy who waited while I gathered the info and then headed to gz to sign the log.
Thanks for bringing us here by placing and maintaining this cache, strange quark1 ??

Trying to make this faster, because I knew I had limited time over the weekend, I looked online to answer some of the questions, but realised that I couldn't answer one of them...I guess you have to be there?!
Anyway, the required information was easy to spot, and after some hefty calculations, we managed to find the cache. Thank you Strange Quark1! This was a fun one!

Found at 8:30 am.
I arrived the day before the St Arnaud Mega so I didn't have to rush to find everything I had targeted and it made it so much better with 3 days and not just 2. Today was about finding a few solved puzzles, looking for all the challenges and starting on the star puzzles.

After a long day and some dinner there were heaps of people doing this cache so I joined in and had a fun time.
Thanks strange quark1 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Day 2 Natimuk to St Arnaud

stopped and worked out some numbers. targetting multis to get my count up for the sfe 500 multi challenge. Multi's take longer, found after the nearby event. Found with jj52 and mogni under torch light. this one took ages to find.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.
