Another find by Wombat Jnr. Was a very quiet day on the road's, which is always a plus for us geo cachers. Thanks for the hide.

Decided to head up the highway for another day and to grab those caches I've been driving past on previous trips. Started here and headed south before taking a triangle direction.
Good quick find here and the cache is in good condition.

Enjoying the fresh winter sunny day visiting family, quick grab on way past.
As I pulled up I thought, pointless drive but then I read the description, amazing. What a great way to show local history in another sense. Thanks for showing me this spot, fantastic.
So we have come to stay in Avoca for the weekend, and we planned a day of caching in and around St Arnaud. Clearly, the Mega here a few years ago has made this lovely country town a geocaching hotspot. We decided to drive up the western side of the Pyrenees to get to St Arnaud and pick as many caches up on the way as we could before coming back to Avoca on the Eastern side of the Pyrenees. Having left St Arnaud and heading South towards Avoca we decided to round out the day by picking up all the caches on the highway home. This was a relatively easy find and was in great condition. Thank you for this cache strange quark1
Welcome back from Covid. If there are issues with the cache after the length of time in situ please message me.
Due to a rise in Covid-19 I have made a conscious decision not to undertake cache maintenance as I feel that it doesn’t fit one of the reasons for being out during this pandemic. As I work in Melbourne in an emergency service but live regional I will not be putting myself or my community at risk.
I therefore am disabling all of my physical caches for the time being. The caches them self will be left in situ.
I won’t be deleting logs or anything like that and I intend to enable them again once I feel that my safety or that of my community won’t be put at risk.
I apologise for the inconvenience.

On our way returning to our camp at teddington reservoir after a day in st arnaud. Nabbed a few on the way home. Thanks for the cache hide. A nice quick find.
On our way through to SA but found time to stop to do some caching. Some great creative hides. We wish we had more time to spend in the area but with the border block to take place from tomorrow we need to keep moving. We will return to cache around here at another time. Our thanks to strange quark1 for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Fitzy_1965 and I travelled to St Arnaud with two geo-kids in tow.
Day 4 - Time to pack up and head home. Out of the caravan park by 10am and head out for a few last caches before leaving St Arnaud. Ended up taking it slow and got home just before midnight!
All caches found quickly and easily unless otherwise stated.

Day 4 - After breakfast and packing up our campsite we hit the trail for a few more caches around St. Arnaud before starting the long trip home. Next one on the list. This was a quick find at GZ. Log was signed, cache replaced and it was off to the next one.

Staying in Avoca while the mega is on and collecting caches either on the way or coming back from St Arnaud. Signed as Team JAR - joojoo57, Aussie Liahona and Richmond Lad. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining these caches for us to come and find.
Just love it when you can see something old, original and innovative. Thanks for bringing us to this location strange quark1 and for pointing out the old method of fence building.
We came to this cache as Team JARC who are JooJoo57, Aussie Liahona, RichmondLad and Crew153. The cache was found and we gladly signed the log.

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.
We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.
Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. This cache was one of these found as we headed towards Stuart Mill, and back up to St Arnaud. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks strange quark1 for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.
FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.
Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).
On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Found staying in St Arnaud for a week to attend the Mega Event, had a great time finding some quality caches around the area, this was one of them. I teamed up with My good Mate Rosstaman and Green Gecko from Brisbane. We only had a few left in a 30km circle so we headed out of town for a bit of fun in the bush. We tracked down the DGS camp and said a quick hello while we were there.
Thanks strange quark1 for the cache.

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache strange quark1!

What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.
Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.
Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.
Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.
Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.
Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.
Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

Caching day at St Arnaud during the Mega Event. Found your cache. Thanks strange quark1 for the fun and placing it.
Well the weekend is here and the hoards of cachers have been turning up all week and it is now the Mega weekend so that means lab caches, signal the frog, more events and catching up with friends and making some new ones.
After helping out at the Mega site in the morning it was time to find a few caches that I ran out of time to find when I was here in March so I hit the tracks again and off I went.
Another cache that describes a piece of the history that surrounds St Arnaud.
You never get sick of this place and fining caches along the way is awesome.
Thanks strange quark1 TFTC.

This weekend was the St. Arnaud Mega event and I was looking forward to hitting the road for a few days doing some flat out caching, visiting many new and amazing places and catching up with lots of caching friends. The event was a great success and heaps of fun. The caches provided by the local cachers were, in many cases, absolutely mindblowing (FUF009 caches most notably). All in all it was a great weekend, very warm weather and lots of caches found.

I went to St Arnaud with SteMicMitSar to make some inroads into the caches here prior to the Mega.
Almost all the caches we found were in interesting places and logical spots, but not obvious to muggles. An abundance of regular size containers, well stocked with swag for junior caches made for a pleasant change from the plethora of micros that dominate the city and suburbs.
Apologies for the generic logs but with over 250 finds for the long weekend, they all tend to blur into one another.

Well it’s getting closer to the St.Arnaud Mega Event and as I may not have a lot of time to find caches that weekend I decided an earlier trip was warranted.

Missed the last cache before noticing this one pop up. Rob had found them so he wasn't looking for them on his GPS screen. Not only did I miss the last cache but also missed seeing the fence that is the focus of this cache. Will try harder next visit, to spy it on the way past.

Found at 10:26 AM GAFF1.
That's a Cole Porter song made famous by Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters -
"Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don't fence me in..."
Never seen a "chock and log fence" before - what is the purpose of it? Doesn't look as though it would contain any animals.

The forecast was for 44 degree weather today, so we decided to travel in the late afternoon. On our way to Saint Arnaud for the '10 Months to the Saint Arnaud Event' event, event weekend... event. The 'cut off' for dinner at the pub in Saint Arnaud was approaching, we grabbed a few more before heading into town. Thanks for the cache strange quark1.

TFTC. We left St Arnaud this morning after a weekend filled with caching and socializing. Did not really want to leave as there are more caches to do. But leave we must. We were only driving to Maryborough so had a chance to stop at a couple of places. Would have stopped for more but the iPhone was having a hissy fit.
On the way to St Arnaud with 08151605 for the weekend events and this was the last on the highway. A quick retrieval. Didn't notice the fence opposite but will have a closer look next time. Thanks strange quark1
Get out of jail card is in play, we have taken two weeks off from the farm. Mini tour from Porepunkah to where-ever and back catching some caches on the way
Day 8 - Kara Kara National Park, near Stuart Mill
We were able to drive to this one in the rain from our campsite "lakeside"
Quick find on busy road. thanks strange quark1

Found it. With no phone connection lol. Again another i didnt get out of the car for retrieval and my walker friend grabbed it for us. Just didnt think it was safe to get my chair out when we had parked on the other side of the road.
Today I turned my attentioned to the southern region of St Arnaud, to do some geocaching.I started out on a bright sunny morning.. I found this cache and 17 others before the weather turned. Cache OK. TFTC.
Another good hide we made a quick find as we head to the Event in St Arnaud.
Signed and replaced. TFTC.

First cache for the day. Pleased I pulled over here and didn’t have too much traffic pass by. Found the cache rather quickly. Onto the next one. TFTC.
Another cache to the collection as I am trying to get geohubby to navigate and locate caches on the map. That’s harder than finding the caches!! Tftc
We were pleased to see that there was a cache here to bring this fence to the attention of fellow cachers. Thanks for the cache and making us aware of this fence.
Today papi4506, the occasional geoturtle37 and BeckNmonts joined forced, and decided to do some caches on our way homewards bound. Thank you for placing the cache. Along the way we learnt some history, saw some historic features, or simply good artwork! It was a great drive homewards with rewarding caches. I loved the fence here. Favourite point for showing it to me. TFTC strange quark1
Another awesome weekend in St Arnaud with CybergranV and her Muggle Hubby chasing some of the best caches this country has to offer. [^]
Found it. Got it. Signed it. [^]
Then handed it over to the happy snappers to make their mark.

Headed to St Arnaud for the weekend and despite leaving work at 2.10pm it was still 7.20pm when I arrived at the Friday Night Picnic Tea in the Park #3
Bloody errands that needed doing... you know, important stuff like a haircut and shopping for food!
I found only 1 cache on the way to the event but made up for it afterwards accompanied by the lovely [:X] ageing Bushfire until 2.20am [^] For an ageing Bushfire, he still burns bloody brightly!
The day's total finds (my last cache was found at 2.27am) was caches found 17 and event attended 1
I am still astounded that items built years ago often last longer than items built today
Where did we go wrong[?]
Thanks for highlighting the fence style

What a wonderful old fence, amazing so much of it is still intact. Muggle Hubby took some photos of it whilst dalerious retrieved the cache for us to sign.
Thanks for another bit of local history, and more happy faces on our maps.

Today we cached around St Arnaud, taking time off for the lunch event back in town.
Along the way we found some great caches. Some new ones, some old ones, and some we'd solved a while back.
