Logs
Read the previous logs so came prepared with gummies. Quick find, cool container! Thanks.
Cold feet because we forgot the gumboots. Didnt manage to extract the log. Thanks so much for this fun cache.
A great day for a wade today, really enjoyed myself! I wasn't quite tall enough to reach the cache, but a few large rocks and tools I could find in my caching bag and I soon had it in hand. The log book was tricky to get out but this was also achieved with some persistence. Then the final challenge of replacing the cache also took a few attempts and some help from more things in my bag but I got it back in place. My shoes are now quite wet but its a good day for drying so all good. Thanks!
First find of 2023. Able to walk in in bare feet without getting ankles wet!! Glad I had someone taller than me to easily spot the cache
Been past this many times but this evening was time for a strike.
Disturbed one bird nesting. Found on the second sweep.

30 minutes, 20 pullups, and 2 wet shoes...can't find anything here. Great spot for a cache. I hope it is still there.
After an extended lunch, and minimal daylight left, I searched 20+ favourites...
If only I had read gummies required beforehand.
I was wearing shorts on warm winters day, so removed shoes and socks, water wasn't that cold.
Arrived at 5.20pm, so torch light was needed, looking for shadows along the edges.
After about 20 minutes, I gave up and back to the car to warm the footsies up.
I'll be back next time I'm in chch and next time in daylight.

Gummies
And that was it! I was tall enought to reach, and the rest was history.
Last entry in the cache logbook from 2020!!
If I was the CO, logs such as "saw, couldn't reach" would not sit well with me. The ones with "couldn't get logbook out" would be ok with a photo proof of the container.
But that's up to CO ️
Kia ora! Paldies!

Lucky it's a hot day. Had to put the hobbit on our shoulders to reach. Log book is pretty firmly in there so couldn't sign it.
How awesome was that! Thanks for the wonderful cache. Couldn't get the log out though.
Well, it was quite a hot day and after a full day at work too, tired feet welcomed a dip in the river. GPS was all over the place so after having a random look around I decided a systematic search was needed, with the add of a friendly stick to give me extra height.
As I'm working through my search the sun had stared to change its angle which, lucky for me, revealed just what I was looking for. I suppose, in hindsight, a torch would have been handy, but, oh well. My trusty stick came in handy, helping me reach the cache. However, then came the next challenge, trying to retrieve the log from the cache itself. Tweezers possibly would have helped but, we actually popped out with very little, naughty us. So, the inside of a pen proved useful, not just for signing the log.
This was a fun search and find. Thanks so much for the cache.

Needed to use a stick to poke around to start with but then after a methodical search we came across an odd looking creepy crawly.
I had read a couple of blogs from previous fnders so we were thinking we were in for a soaking. My phone says it is 34 degrees today so we did not mind a bit of a cooling down. Turned out that today it was not much more than ankle deep. But still enough for a wee bit of a cooling. Gk spotted what we were looking for and I was very pleased when I saw the number of legs as one particular type of creepy crawly is not my favourite. Then the next task was to get the log out. That took longer than finding it did. By the state of it we are not the first people to need a tool to get at it. Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.
Perfect cache to get on a 30 degree day. Lots of muggles about so stealth was required. Found with everdene22. Thanks for the brilliant cache.
What better to do on a 30 degree day in chch? Get in the water! Thanks for the excellent cache. Found with mangoambs.
Have been here twice before, but vertically challenged, and obviously missing the critter anyway, no go - - BUT today with a form of elevation, some other folk for reassurance, not a problem. Very happy cold feet find, spotted by coconuts3, and Supernanny. TFTC and very glad to turn green to yellow.
Had attended event this morning and discussed this one we couldn't find. Came back later with busy paws and supper nanny and the necessary TOTT. Oh yes I found it, might say legs and feet were quite numb by then but oh so worth it. Thanks for the cache TheWanglers, 3 very happy cachers now.
Had been here yesterday to hopefully find this...but was with rellies and their new dog....and was under pressure , which never works.
Such a big area to search .
So luckily for me ; while chattting at the Event, I found that some other folk were also very keen to find the creepy crawly!
Coconuts3 popped home for a TOTT....and I provided a torch.
Into the cold water again.
It wasn't too long before Mrs Coconuts3 called "found it!"
Much to the relief of BusyPaws and myself.
So thrilled and relieved that this one has been done and dusted!
It wasn't even that deep...But thanks niece Amy for shorts and beach shoes!
Favourite Point .

Epic fail which was most disappointing.
Thought I had made a good thorough search...but obviously not good enough.
Will try again tomo with torch....

End of week, and I needed a bit of distraction after a long week and before an upcoming conference - so I went caching of course! Nice afternoon to be walking around. Luckily my gumboots live in the boot of the car, so after parking up nearby I jumped into the water that was a bit smelly (Is it the dead fish? It's huge for such a small river in any case...) and explored the spot until I located the cache! I cannot even imagine how daughter got to it a few years ago??? TFTC!!
Been meaning to do this one for years. Finally had the right gear. TFTC plus I spotted a dead 4lb Brown trout under the bridge.
Oh boy its taken us a long time to cross this one off our list. We never had the right tools or the river was too high but today we managed to get it almost right with only 2 visits to splash around and finally get our hands on that critter. TFTC
Some time ago we could not find the cache despite being prepared (gumboots, torch, gloves) but where unable to spot it. Today with the expected rise in temperature we decided to have another crack at this cache and came prepared (well, gumboots, torch, gloves), but did not need everything. A quick find this time with maybe a more systematic search. Thanks for creating this cache and the fun.
On our second visit with Ilmari_the_Red we took a better torch. Undertaking a methodical search we finally nabbed the critter. Plenty of interesting large spiders under here, so a torch is advisable if you do not want to put your hand into something unpleasant. TFTC
Determined to get a cache for christmas, Trifolia Argentea and I went back for a second attempt at this one. The river was only ankle-deep near the cache, but there was still a lot of stu, bling in the dark before we found it. And boy, are there so many *real* creepies crawling under there... an arachnophobe's nightmare!
All in all, it was a satisfying find, though for my part I don't ever mean to go under that bridge again...

Finally, I remembered the gummies. A bit higher than I remember when I parked up next to it however there was one corner where I could get in without overflowing them and after a bit of a test of the ground underfoot (no worries) I was in. Then a bit of hunting around and looking in all the likely spots and not so likely spots and bang, there it was. Nice work, thanks for placing it here.
I brought my gumboots with me specificlly to tackle this cache. In the end the bank looked a bit slippery in the dark and the river was too cloudy to see how deep the water was. I imagined slipping over and decided not to take the chance. At least if I had gotten wet there would have been no one to laugh at me. I will be back - with reinforcements.
I brought several tools but in the end only used the pinchy pointy one to extract the original log which was full. Have replaced the replacement that had been attached with sellotape, with a waterproof log. Cap missing on container but seems to have been for years! A TOTT will be essential for extraction now as log is tight. I had brought something to help me but it was not required. Despite the rain in the past few days my sandals were fine and I could reach what I was looking for with little difficulty. Thanks for the hide.
Gummies weren't going to cut it today, it was sandals and shorts rolled up as far as I could. Cache happened to be in the deepest spot, and took some retrieving. But all good, newish log signed and replaced as found, although the log is not attached to the cache very well. TFTC TheWanglers.
Christmas Eve today, and after a few hours shopping in the morning for presents and food - it was surprisingly quiet at the mall, as it turned out - we decided to spend the middle of day doing a spot of caching. Joining Jo and I was my mum, who got a basic rundown of what it was all about and then off we went. They had to be park and grabs cos of time limitations, but we had no real targets - just anything close to our temporary base for the next week (Barrington). Thanks to all the COs, we had few issues today and a good day exploring.

Tftc. Rather moist log so have taped a wee bag to the outside. Very fun wee catch
Sweet lord. Came ages ago with hughdg, looked in the dark. Couldn't find... back again with jandal (too deep for gummies)... success after 30 minutes of methodical searching. Hughdg bought a headlight which helped a lot, even in the day light. Cab165 bought motivation ...
Found it on second visit. Been raining so the water is a bit higher than last time, but armed with short shorts and tevas managed to find it with odgersaj. TFTC
Together with Fenz i had the pleasure to visit New Zealand. We were traveling around for quite some time and thought: Why not combine that with some geocaching! That doubled the fun and we found a lot nice places we wouldnt have, if we werent looking for the boxes invisible to the other tourists. For details on our cache finds see the logs of Fenz. We want to thank all the owners for their effort, the nice hides and the fun we had on our journey! Definitely gonna come back to you Kiwis, greetings from the other end of the world, keep it on!
Nice one! I really enjoyed this cache. After having a look around with AntiTerrorist I spotted the thing and he could gab it. Almost lost one flipflop in the water. Logbook was wet or full? Can't remember anymore Thank's for the great cache
Ideal conditions but nothing found... can CO verify before I come back with fins and a wettie please?
Needed a wet suit and SCUBA tank today!
Had to give it away or end up swept away!!

Had been here before and not found it. Spotted the little critter after a bit of a search today. However the water was above gumboot level. Injeanious had to reassure me that nothing would try and eat me as I took my gumboots off. In the end it was a team effort with injeanious giving me a needed boost to reach the cache, and the cool water was nice on a hot summers day. Log book very full. Tftc!
We were defeated the last time we came here, so this cache has been playing on our minds. Jess.daphne and I put on our appropriate footwear and headed to GZ. We searched the places where previous logs suggested the cache was, but had no luck spotting it.
Just when we were questioning our caching abilities I spotted something. How could we not have seen that before? We hadn't done a good search of that area because the hints suggested it wasn't there. How the heck did someone get that without getting their feet wet?!
Jess.daphne went in first and soon had gumboots filled with water. We both took off our footwear and headed over. Jess.daphne used my knee to her advantage and we soon had the cache. The log is rather soggy but we managed to get our names on there. Very glad to cross this one off the list. Tftc.

Had an awesome time scrambling for this under the bridge awesome little hide. Log was full so we couldn't sign tftc
Clambering around under the bridge. I got my feet wet but quickly found the creepy crawly TFTC
Vamber, kiwifruitsnz and I spent our final afternoon picking up some of the more unusual types and interesting finds that we have run out of back at home. This was close to other caches we were finding so we had to grab it, quite a challenge but great hide. TFTC

Finally caught up with my geo friends over the MEGA weekend for a day of caching in and around Christchurch. We decided to take a little drive over to this side of town and collect some Wherigos. While some of the group were busy figuring out how to transport rice and foxes, one half of Vamber and I tackled this one. Nice day for wading and finding creepy crawly things - fun cache hide, fav point added.

Day Three of the Christchurch Mega, so we had some time to kill before our flight out this evening, back to Auckland. While one half of Vamber was figuring out conundrums involving chicken, grains and foxes, the other half took a walk to do some wading and crawly. Took awhile to figure out our point of entry, but soon our feet were wet and the cache was quickly in hand. A great cache, thanks for hiding! +1 favourite point.
This was the tenth day of my fifteen day trip to go to the Christchurch Mega, and the first day of the Mega, so I was out with kyb3r, IF and mtbikeroz picking up the Lab caches and others. TFTC.
After a visit to the port Hills, decided to visit some caches with high favourite point counts which brought us here. We were stumped for so long until If spotted the creepy culprit. The water is cold, not that I needed to get wet...
Four of us headed to the creekside to look for this cache
After much umming and ahhing, MtBikerOz bravely jumped over to the 'island'.
With no quick find to hand, kyb3r went into the creek barefoot !!
I followed in me hiking boots (I'm not getting me feet wet !!)
Azolo stood guard on the river bank in case any of us (or a sock) were washed downstream
It must have been 10 minutes and nobody had found any sign of the cache !! [:o]
Ergo ... it must have gone
'Bout then me eyes had adjusted to the gloom sufficiently to see the cache from about 10 feet away !!
I cannot believe none of saw that for so long
Brilliant camo and a great container too
TFTC.
Fave dance time !!

Favourite cache yet!!! Great work!! Got a bit wet but was all fun
Paper is getting pretty low and unsure if there was meant to be a cap for the cache but there is not one now
Thanks!!!

[green] What a day. Out on the bike again, hoping for my target of 40 caches. Wasn't looking like I was going to make it - multis, wherigos and DNFs slow you down. And I had a LOT of DNFs today - one had even been archived just a few days ago. But I got my 40, although I arrived back at the backpackers an hour later than hoped. Hot, tired, sweaty, smelly, happy. And sun burnt. Better pack the sunscreen tomorrow.
Two DNFs so far and then this cache. No wonder my find rate is plummeting. And yet - after spending way too much time under the bridge I discovered it was obvious! I now back a towel in my cache kit. For drying out caches. And feet.

Woohoo! The "gummies" were in the car as I was up the hill fixing a fault this morning for work, so had to take all precautionary equipment. As it happened I got stuck in snow, but was able to get to the site by walking. As for this treasure, armed with river protection, I was soon in site of the great hide. Definitely a great spot and a favourite. No trolls to be seen either. I'd hate to be under here when a storm's worth of deadly water is pouring through here!
This cache was one of 350 found on a short trip back to New Zealand, which was principally organised so that I could attend my Great Grandmother's 100th birthday.
I have a great time and enjoyed a great variety of caches, most of which were new (ie published in the past couple of years ).
Thanks for all the great caches.

This morning we came prepared with gumboots and torch, but the only find was a dead fish. So another cache for the watchlist - hard to believe that it was DNF considering the time we spent here.
Great fun with this hide! Luckily it was so dry lately; I had an island to help me retrieve the cache sans wet feet. Tftc ♡♡
Got quite confused at the start, but made a lot of sense. Also ran into some other people looking for it! TFTC
loved it, nice easy find once we realised where it should be. Thanks for the cache =)
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Mallorcatommy and I were travelling through the southern island of New Zealand. What an amazing, breath-taking landscape! On our way we did some nice walks, enjoyed ourselves and found great geocaches. Thanks to all owners for nice hiding spots... We wouldn't have been to a few places without these little boxes!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I used old sneakers instead of gumboots. Great spot for a hide. I'll think of it every time I drive over. Love the "creepy crawly" container. Did not have tweezers for log removal, so could not sign sorry.
I'd had a search for this cache when it was first published, without success. Decided today was such a nice day that a chance to get my feet wet was too good to pass up. Cache was spotted pretty quickly which was a relief. It seems a previous cacher has signed the outside of the container? Thanks for the cache.
TFTC. Today with hot weather and very little rain lately I had no problem to log this creepy thing. I enjoyed my first taste of this river. I could not pull the logpaper out of the container, so I signed a small piece of paper and put it into the cache. Many thanks, this might be my last TheWanglers cache for this visit to NZ. Hopefully I will be back in a year or so.
Hahaha I think they were thinking that I was walking there because I was hot. Lucky at such a moment that the doggies are playing and running around as there were a lot of eyes, cause there was a cycletour going on.
Was happy to see the animal sitting a bit further away so I could approach him, so he couldn't give me the surprise to fall on top of my head hahaha
Give this a favourite. Simple and so appropriate for this spot and that in the middle of the city

#8884. Troodles knew where to direct me and it didn't take long to spot the cache. Nicely done! TFTC.
Me thinks the CO has a thing about bridges as we have found quite a few caches with a bridge theme lately
StreetWalker popped on his sandals and we had a recce. Hmmm, only one place looks suitable as an approach. A bit of a geotrail to follow to make it obvious as well. There was just the one place that the water was more than a few inches deep and that could probably be hurdled. Any way, I remained safe and dry on the bank while StreetWalker fetched the cache for me so I could sign the log book too . And an appropriated cache container. TFTC.

As I was returning from a short tramp up Worsleys Track and driving down Centaurus Rd heading for home I realised that I was today better equiped, footwear wise, to go sign off this cache. A quick stop and re-donning of my gummies soon had me at GZ with the cache in my hand. That makes 3 of TheWangler's watery caches signed out of my unfound list today. Thanks foranother fun cache. +Fav.

Until today, the stars just didn't line up sufficiently to warrant an attempt, but today there was no excuse. Having just got my feet wet at another cache nearby, I just had to do this one. Cache soon spotted but it took a while to extarct the log. TFTC - another favourite.

I really enjoyed this cache today. It was a lovely day for some geocaching and the water was nice and low. I didn't have my gummies with me but I could see this cache and needed to get it. A little water never hurts I was able to jump over the worst of it and sign the log. Getting back was a bit more entertaining but I was able to make it over the stream with one well planned jump. Favorite point from us.
