Unfortunately this cache has been repeatedly muggled, sometimes quite quickly after replacement.
I think it's time to free up this area to see if anyone else would like to place a cache around here.
Thank you to everyone who has visited over the years, and also especially to fellow Wellington geocachers who have kept a caring eye on the cache when I haven't been around, and provided information on its status.
Thanks

I need to go check this out and see what is to be done, but can't until the New Year. In the meantime I'll put it on hold till I've decided what to do with the cache. With the amount of replacement caches needed in this spot it maybe time to call it a day and for the area to be opened up for other caches to be placed. Watch this space.
It may not be obvious from the NM log that I am a previous finder so I know exactly what and where the cache should be. Not only that but I happened to have been passing a while back and had put it back how it belongs on a day some contractors had been working and it was there but not placed how it should be. So there is absolutely no question that it's now missing, no point in looking till the CO attends to it!
mmm, I did have a fairly decent look for this but no luck. I concur with the previous DNFs.
HPS co ordinates were moving around. So said stop and think then found. Quick find but cool
Please disregard my earlier message.
It seems we have some understanding workers who put the cache back after they finished, though not at the same level! I have put it back where I have normally seen it, hope this is OK.

Found while on a nice little stroll around the city.

Found during a mini-vacation from Christchurch to Wellington. Being about 7am on a Sunday during alert level 2 meant not a lot of muggles to worry about. Thanks for the cache!
Located a couple of caches in town last weekend and forgot to log until now! Grabbed this one while I was in town, since I wanted a chance to collect this high-fave site. I was worried about how busy it was, but I was also familiar with the style of cache so it was a quick find - not as easy to replace, however, given the muggle presence. Tftc!
Visiting Wellington to spend a couple of days with student son. While he did a little study I grabbed a couple of caches.
Spent a longer than I should’ve wondering around GZ. Didn’t see any that look likely and as I thought I’d need to walk away I spotted it. A quick grab and replace. Thanks

great cache!! 8t was harder to put the cache back then it was to find it as their were alot of muggles around tftc
A few artifices around that could be the cache, quick reset had the cache in hand. TFTC!
Attending a conference nearby and during the break I wandered o er to stretch my legs. Initial survey didn't yield any obvious spots. Soon found the spot and alas I had no pen on me. Hopefully a photo will suffice.
Found on a damp morning during the commuter rush. Everybody keeping their heads down, rushing to get out of the drizzle. No problem spotting and quietly extracting the cache. Had to wait a few moments for a lull to return once signed, but all good. Surprisingly, the whole operation went a lot easier than I'd expected for such a busy spot! Tftc!
Always nice to see a new to me cache pop up nearby - a quick find on the way home from work, not too muggly despite being around 5pm - TTFC!
Thanks for the regular updates on the status of the street, and now that the street is open again I'm very happy to have returned the cache to its place. Open for business!
Walked past this afternoon. After 16 months the site is finally clear. Still a bit of activity maybe, cones blocking parking.
Thanks again robnzh.
Yep- I drove past the site a few days ago and it's still very not a cache suitable location.
We wait with anticipation for the work to finish.

I pass GZ most days.
Though there has been progress with the construction works there is still a way to go so the situation is basically unchanged.

Progress (or lack of it?) report- see attached. A picture is worth a thousand words. Seems the August deadline was unrealistic though to be fair perhaps some of the delay may have been caused by Covid lockdown.
I found on the web on page 9 of an 83 page Council document under "Brandon Street 2" that pedestrian management will be in place till 30 October for "minor excavation other" (with no mention of continuing road closure for the major work which is probably Brandon Street 1) -I wonder whether this will be as optimistic as the August completion date was
Looks like the main project could go on at least till Christmas!
So it looks like the honourable gentlemen will have to rest in peace for some time yet .

Thanks Huntleigh for the on the spot update on the ongoing lack of access to the cache. WCC website indicates that the work might be completed in August...
As I'm not in town all that often, once anyone sees the construction work coming to a close please post an update and I'll get the cache back in position.

I walked past GZ yesterday. It is still very much a building site. I don't see it being enabled in the near future.
As suggested by recent hunters, due to the location being enclosed in a building site the cache is temporarily disabled until construction is finished, and access is available again.
The cache is surrounded by construction and is inaccessible. Perhaps the CO should disable this cache pending completion of the construction.
There is currently a lot of construction on the se corner, this cache may be unavailable until it's completed or my geosenses were lacking today
Out today finding some caches Tim+Jedi found your cache Mr Featherston and Mr Brandon rise from the dead this is find number 1463 for me TFTH
Arriving into NZ with Itskate for a little family getaway making our way from Wellington to Auckland with a rental car. A caching / need to attend a wedding inspired holiday.
Day 1 has seen some great use of the electric scooters around town making the trip around town a much quicker than expected trip.
Greetings from Western Australia, in caches large enough we have left some Path Tags to be found.

Just about impossible to access much around GZ, so had to reluctantly walk away, there's alot of building activity going on!
Got it! Cache is a bit restricted with the construction. Recommend to grab after hours. Thx!

Today it's raining but that's not stopping us from having a grand time sightseeing and caching along the way. Our group stamps logs NZGA2019, which stands for New Zealand Geocaching Adventure 2019. We represent Puerto Rico, Canada, and my home, the USA. Thanks for adding to the joy of visiting your wonderful country with this nice hide:)

Very clever cach. With the NZGA group. Deserves a fav for the thinking that went into it. TFTC
Cruising with 32 other people, some geocachers and some not. Docked today in Wellington and in spite of the rain we had to do some caching. This was one of the finds.
Found with the NZGA group as we walked around the Wellington Harbor area. Thanks for replacing this cache but there is still ongoing construction nearby. Thanks for the cache!

Just landed back in NZ yesterday and replacement cache is under manufacture now.
Should be in situ in a few days.

I was hoping this one might be back up and running when we come to visit in about 2 weeks. Our Hotel is less than 2 blocks from this cache, I think, and we will be staying there on the night of November 1st. Hopefully you can get it up and running and the notorious muggle will not know it is back yet.
It's time to get this one working again and fingers crossed the regular mugger has lost interest.
Expect to see some action in early November.
Thanks for your patience.

Well I went into town at midnight to change the log sheet (the easiest time to do it), and couldn't find the cache- yet again it appears to have been muggled. Time to put it on hold again unfortunately.
Out for a walk after dinner hoping to find a few caches. Sunday night was a good time with relatively few muggles. Quite a quick find at gz as we have seen this clever type of hide before. TFTC
This one took us two visits as our GPSr pointed to the center of the intersection so we couldn't decide what corner to search, then it started raining. Returned today and searched them all…log is now full as we squeezed in our signature at the very bottom…TFTC!
Easily found due to another geocaching couple there at the same time needs log replacement excellent cache! TFTC!

When visiting a new city we have to check for caches around and this one was really nice. Cool camouflage but exactly where the GPS is guiding you to. Look out

This was a tough one. Even though it was a rainy, windy kind of day, there was plenty of traffic and walkers to prevent hanging around one spot for too long. We crossed the streets several times, evaluating possible hiding spots as we searched new spots on each pass. Finally we located the well hidden container! Excellent! Replacing it wasn't anywhere near as difficult as finding it! TFTC!
(Logging late since I finally found my caching notes from our vacation to NZ)

I love these types of caches! Awesome to see one down here, since there's a few in Auckland. Relatively muggleless, but still managed. TFTC, greetings from Auckland
Quick find on a busy day. Sort of guessed what it might be, and sure enough, straight to it.
This is another cache that’s been on my GPSr for some years but never quite able to get here. Today being a public holiday we’ve popped into central Wellington for an early breakfast virtually right next door, so with no muggles about this was a relatively easy find.
I believe it was originally in a far more devious location though this one still works for the high-muggle intersection. Finally it’s time to say Goodbye to Wellington and commence the long drive home to Taranaki. TFTC

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA and we have a lot of caches to get through over this 5 day affair. There isn’t a lot of down time (or sleep time) but it's great being here and meeting the locals, CO’s and other cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and anyone else that made this a memorable trip
It's finally Mega weekend!
Found while travelling with TeamBOP to the Mega event in Wellington.
Luckily a quick find with hardly anyone about.
Thanks for bringing me here.

I’ve been after this one for a while and finally managed to get into the city on a quiet afternoon. A great cache, very clever, gets a favourite from me. TFTC.
Was asked at work today if I had plans for the weekend. Told my colleague I was going to the WENZ Mega tomorrow, and explained what was planned. She decided to reactivate her geocaching account and was keen to grab a couple of caches today. Quick lunch time run to grab two caches close to work, including this one which has eluded me for a while.
Met a couple from Invercargill at the GZ - here for the Mega.
