Spent a good 40 minutes looking for this one after an afternoon of rock climbing with Manakitai and GeoHound. Searched in an ever expanding circle around GZ... No luck, may return for another look with more energy...
Lots of places to hide here. The most obvious has the remains of a spray can bonfire. I hope the cache didn't go up in flames.
How dry is it up here, and the fire has made it worse but the views are magnificent. TNLN TFTC
We had hoped to do the lookout circuit trail on Mount Stuart today so stopped by this one on the way up.
We were astounded at how many folks....very much fitter than ourselves.....were cycling up the mountain at 07.00am, no doubt trying to get their daily exercise before heading off to work
Another recent fire has made access to this hide a fairly easy walk, and with no mountain bikers using the track today we were able to make a quick, easy find
We then continued to the top but were disappointed to find the loop track closed as maintenance was being done on the tallest tower....creating a large 'drop zone'
At least we still had access to the amazing lookout and could enjoy the stunning views
Many thanks for hiding such a nice big cache 2N's[^]

Geomum was straight onto this one, she quickly found the right spot and our road trip for the final souvenirs (and some shopping) in Townsville was off to a good start this morning, S.L, took pathtag, TFTC and an interesting sport spot 2N's.

Must have missed Cachedin NQ by not much.
With a hint from a previous finder I concentrated my search near a big rock.
Had the sneaky little bugger in my had within five minutes.
This finishes my Road Trip souvenirs.

Found this one thanks to some help from ThreeRs nice day for a walk too, before heading south.TFTC
I've been keen to do this one for a while and with the road trip currently on, now was the perfect time to head up Mt Stuart for this one! Easy walk down to GZ, we didn't get in the way of any mountain bikers.. Looks like a great track tho so looked around GZ .. No luck.. Had to widen our search!! Talk about looking for a needle in a haystack! Nano in the scrub! But I guess that's why it's a D5.. After 40 mins and widening our search 5-10 metres away from GZ we had this little sucker in hand!! And boy was a glad to have this one ticked off!! TFTC left my pathtag.. next we were off to collect the rest of the caches up this way.. Favourite point from us
I was seeking this one out as my first rating 5. after searching a little wider I soon had it. thanks
Love it! Timed it well and was in between bikers. Loved the challenge. Thanks! Another road trip goal achieved:)
Geodog and I were needing to get out of the house for a while, so kidnapped geo-housemate, mattzeo, for a trip up to Mt Stuart in the loaned 'lego-rocket'!
This one was the last on our agenda, and took a little while in the dark! I finally had the very cute cache in hand, and felt that we had earnt more of the D5 grading than if we had found it during daylight....
Road Trip 15 D5 or T5 done - Woohoo!!!!!!!
Cache and contents in good nic. TNLN
TFTC 2Ns, and for maintaining it RobS72!

heading out of town today
but had planned to get back up here
(it has been awhile )
and do the Scenic Reserve Series
well I only did part of it - because I was running out of time
- but was still going to stop here for a look on our way down
pulled up and wandered over for a look
no bike muggles present [^]
(looks like a wild track down the hill)
thought I new what I was looking for ... but where to start [?][?]
so whilst I started searching in the wrong areas
the reluctant partner called out - found it
had me worried but we managed to get a find [^]
shame the Road Trip D or T 5 challenged hasn't started yet
but I will take the find
and will just have to find another for that
thanks for the cache
and a few TBs visited
cheers

It is the second day of my annual Christmas visit to Townsville to see the in-laws. Unlike the rest of the crookedclan, I am not yet quite in holiday mode, so being up early I thought I'd go and grab a few caches.
I have previously DNf'd this cache last year. however, this cache is a rare combination of DT that I don't have, so it was one of my main targets this visit. A short walk down the mountain bike trail (with a flip off the rock) and I was at GZ.
I was pretty sure of what I was looking for - having found this type of container before. First place I looked I found the cache - absolutely certain I searched here last time as well. That only leaves 5 DT combo's to chase......
Thanks for the cache, 2N's

We stopped here today to finally complete the Caches on Mount Stuart. After parking the car and enjoying the views we made the short walk to GZ. Upon arrival at 0m we quickly discovered the hide, some days are like that, the GPS was spot on and the Cache was found in the first place we looked. It rarely works out like this for us.
The latch on the ammo tin has fallen off and was found inside the tin, as it stands it doesn't close, the log book is still sry and useable.
Thanks 2N's

Short walk to the hiding place and after I made it too difficult for a few minutes I found it.

Found it! With exchange student - first geocache to show her
What a good cache to find to be our #100 find!
Previous logs made the find a bit easier. Very quick find.

What better way to follow up a late night of caching that with an early morning caching as well.
This cache was one that I struggled with on my first visit - mostly because of the ingenuity of the container - it was simply NOT what I was looking for! When I returned to my home in Brisbane I also found out that this is somewhat of a 'Special' DT grid find....And I missed it! D'oh!
This made this particular cache my absolute MUST find on this trip to Townsville. I left the hotel at dawn and made my way to the mountain. All looked very familiar - though it looks like some traffic calming chicanes are being set up on the road in. That will stop the suicidal road cyclists!
I parked close by and made my way in full of trepidation. Imagine my surprise when I found the beastie within just a few short minutes! That was a cruel hide indeed, and worthy of the DT rating!
Thanks 2N's - cracker cache.

#6223 We were enjoying a holiday in the area with our friends and during a tour of the Mt Stuart this was one cache we had earmarked for an attempt that we just couldn't pass up. We were 1 off completing our P81 grid for the 3rd time and this was the hole that was missing. An enjoyable stroll in towards GZ was had, we could only imagine that this area could become very busy during the weekends. For us today however there was only us which was a blessing . The clouds were now disappearing and the sun shining, great cache finding weather! Luck must have been on our side today because the cache was located much quicker than we had anticipated - you little ripper . Certainly a lovely cache which we really appreciated and so a FP from us. Cheers [^]

Stopped off to give this one a try since it's a fairy rare D/T combination, and I managed to get very lucky and found a micro in the bush in the very first place I looked care of some very accurate coordinates.
the mountain bike tracks look like a lot of fun too.
Thanks

2:57:00 PM. On our way down and made a quick dash for this one. Not exactly what we thought it would be but always good to find an ammo can. No mountain bikes around this afternoon. Would love to ride down some of the tracks but slowly for me. Thanks 2N's for placing this cache.
Was walking Mt Stuart today with some friends so before everyone arrived I popped in to have another try...AND within minutes found it, swear I checked 'there' last time I visited, yay so happy now back down to the bottom to start my walk up....TFTC
Checked on the rascal today. Didn't find any needles but found two empty single use packets.
Early this morning, I decided to hit Mt Stuart and knock over the new trail as well as all the other caches in the hill. There were some cyclists near Ammo One on my trip up, so I headed straight to Ammo Four.
I took careful note of the cache name and size. Hmmm.......
I have seen these before, so I had a pretty good idea what I was looking for. After a quick walk I arrived at the big rock and started searching. Very sorry to report that all I found was various uncapped drug paraphanalia, shoved in all the various crevices I thought were worth searching. I am truly amazed and more than a little saddened that you can come somewhere like this (admittedly a bit of a landmark, but in reality just another rock on a hill covered in rocks) and be beaten there by a junkie.
My enthusiasm for the search was gone, but I persisted for another ten minutes. Then I called it a day and headed up the hill. Thanks for the hide, 2N's

Not today I would not recommend poking around. Lots of needles in amongst the rocks
I think I had my eyes painted on today, just could not locate the little rascal....maybe next time!
Pretty sure we looked there last time, must have been blind! [:o]
Didn't take geoP long to find the little blighter this time, which was just as well as geoD was dealing with a work phone call received just as he began his search.
The container was exactly as we suspected and we have one sitting at home awaiting the proper hide.

Out with a mate for some lazy morning caching. Took a ride to the summit and stopped for this one on the way back down.
The cache is definitely there, but a needle in a haystack. Thanks to the hint, we found it relatively quickly. TFTC!

Up on Mt Stuart picking up a couple of caches so dropped in to check on ours. Yep ammo four is alive and well.
Not happy Jan.
After finding all 7 on the hill I thought I would give this one a chance also. I searched for near on an hour and even had to resort to phoning geowife for additional clues through the previous logs.
Still unfortunatly I was not able to find this ammo tin.
My thoughts of this cache were wrong time and time again as I systematically searched on GZ. Owell now it gives me something to do if I ever come up this way again.
Cheers

Geohubby quickly had his hands on this one, definately an ammo tin and the size rating is pretty correct, almost a micro really. Have had a blast on the Mt Stuart scenic trail today TFTC 8/09/13 12:58 PM Find #46
LOL . We have come across these before but they are still pretty rare. LOVED scrambling over the rocks here. Thankfully the area was muggle-free. After an extensive search, we went back through the listing and realised we were supposed to be looking for a micro. Ohh, I bet it's one of thoooose. Still took many more minutes before Loki finally spotted it in a place we had both checked multiple times. Coords were spot on and we knew it 'had' to be there somewhere. It was just being sneaky [^]. Thanks 2N's

We spent a goodly amount of time searching for this one. Despite having a fair idea of what we were looking for (we have one sitting at home) we came up empty handed.

Found at 1055. Took a bit to find but I had sooner than I expected. Took a Pic of the area. TFTC.
Hard to believe it but I'm running out of caches in Townsville - when you visit once a month for a few years you eventually clean up most caches. Last time the road was purportedly closed so I didn't go up but today I had some spare time and headed along the road and parked - another MTB track - how many is that in Townsville? While it may be fun it certainly knocks around the countryside. Not far from the track I found a cache that was several sizes smaller than I expected and I had a pocket full of TBs to get rid of! Signed and replaced. Headed on up to the other Mt Stuart caches.
Thanks!

What a great hide. Was at GZ and reading past logs for clues when my husband began laughing behind me. Champs2Monkeys was right - cache did make us laugh.
At this point we realised we didn't have a pen so it was back to the car and then up the hill again. Didn't see any mountain bikers come past us.

We struggled with this one today. Cache size says micro, yet an old log says ammo box as does the title, and the 1st in the series...may need to be updated. Spent half an hour looking and wanted to get up higher for a series. Thanks anyway.
Spent the morning caching at Mount Stuart.
Had a look over the area, didn't see it at first, so had to look a little harder.
Great views all the way to the top.
Thanks for the hunt today, 2N's.
