We continued today our tour of Queensland and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache, part of the Carnarvon National Park. The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent. Thanks to fourpathfinders for the generation of this nice cache Moss Garden (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. The temperature dropped significantly as we entered which was very much appreciated as it was a hot days hiking. Another great part of this amazing gorge. Thanks for bringing us here
I spent 4 nights in the van park and visited a few EC,s while doing the walks, this was an amazing location and well worth the walk in, answers collected and sent to the CO, photo attached.A Fave point from me for the location. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC
What a cool oasis during a hot day. But why the stairs the waterfall and the sound of trickling water was very relaxing
Visited the gorge! Marking this as a note, I will answer questions and send thru and convert to found at a later date.
I love squeezing every last second out of public holidays which usually combine with RDO's at work. So, with a 4 day long weekend in the offing, a few weeks ago I reviewed my adventure wish list and decided that a solo hike of Carnarvon Gorge and specifically Battleship Spur would fit the bill.Viko Cz subsequently messaged me to say he was back in Australia for business for a few weeks and had some weekends free for a geocaching adventure, and was also keen to visit Carnarvon. On Anzac Day, we travelled from Roma to Carnarvon and hiked out to Big Bend, visiting as many of the side attractions as we had time for including Boolimba Bluff. Yesterday, we climbed Battleship Spur in the morning and then spent a lazy afternoon enjoying the gorge at Big Bend. We got an early start this morning and refreshed with a good nights sleep, some breakfast and lighter packs, we made very good time back down the gorge. On the hike out, we had not visited Wards Canyon as it was closed, or the Moss Garden, as we were short of time and wanted to arrive at Big bend in daylight. On our return journey, we made the effort to stop here adn were very glad we did. What a magical place. Answers sent. TFTEC fourpathfinders.Pete#7,863

What an amazing place. Loved the area with miss and ferns etc. Answers have been sent so now logging. A fav point from me
We certainly needed the cooling environment after the climb up. This is the last of our walks in the gorge and as with all the sights well worth the walk to see them. Answers sent to CO. Tftec

The Carnarvon Gorge is surely outstanding, something unique. Amazing landsscape, beautiful nature and some relicts of ancient Aborigines culture. We enjoyed our hiking tour via Moss Garden, the Amphitheatre, Wards Canyon, the Art Gallery, and Cathedral Cave. We not did any of the Earthcache there because of the effort in answering all question of these caches. We're on a road trip and in between there' should be at least some moments to perceive a feeling a vacation. You surely know what we mean. Nevertheless, we did 3 off the Earthcaches there and the traditional, Takarakka Look Out on sunset. Amazing day, we say thanks you for setting up all these Eartcaches and as always TFTC, MumDad2000

An overnight group hike with Peppa, Beardman75, karicka and Davidwazza to big bend to take in all the sights of Carnarvon gorge.
After coming down off Boolimba bluff we continued on to the Moss Garden. What a beautiful and unique location, you just can’t beat a waterfall.
Thanks for highlighting this area fourpathfinders

Once again, Davinells, Karicka, Peppa, Davidwazza and I hid our heavy packs in the bush and headed in for a little detour to this beautiful spot. We would've enjoyed the serenity here if not for the screaming kids but it was a beautiful area. Our answers have been sent by Davinells. Thanks fourpathfinders for the earthcache
On a walk towards Big Bend today.
Doing all the side trips including Mickey creek and Boolomba Bluff had us at 25km for the day.
Left the heavy packs and went in to explore this gem.
Could have spent an hour just listening to the water here.
Answers sent to Davinells for all 5 of us.
Find number 29582 for me.

Finally doing Carnarvon Gorge. It's a great trek with lots of interesting places and many Earth caches. Awesome.

The tracks are open so we are going for a walk. Most crossings were wet. On the way up we were taking our shoes off but on our return it was straight through them. It was a great days walk and we are so glad the tracks opened today and we decided to stay an additional night after the road was passable after the flooding.
This was different to what I was expecting but very lovely. Great place to relax and unwind. We couldn't stay too long as it were heading out of the carnarvon gorge today.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Thanks for these great earthcaches. Found as the last on the Main track today on the way back from the Big Bend! Feet are now getting a bit tired as close to 28km today!
Loved this quiet spot. Didn’t spend as much time here as it was getting late and wanted to get a dip in the rock pools before dark! Messaged CO
This is a truly spectacular spot, a magical green oasis. We enjoyed finding out about the phenomenon that causes the oasis. Thanks for placing this EC for us to find.
We found this EC on our first day at Carnarvon Gorge, along with The Amphitheatre.

We are on a 2 month trip from Portland via the Mundi Mundi Bash to a wedding in Brisbane and then out west for QOGM in Charleville.
We are camped in Carnarvon Gorge for a couple of days - a spot everyone says we have to visit. Mr Morris headed off for the day to visit the gorge and many of the side trips - all in all a pretty spectacular but tiring day. All up he walked 22.11kms for the day.
Answers will be on their way shortly.

Photo is attached. Thanks for the earthcache at this beautiful spot. It should be an additional county to add to the list. I will not forget the Moss Garden in the future.
Amazing place. With the weird afternoon light the ferns and moss appeared somewhere between green and golden. Very tranquil as only us around too.
Visited on the second day of our 4-day trip to the Gorge. Beautiful spot. Answers sent to CO. TFTC!

What an amazing place and so green. Truly an oasis. Thanks for the information and for placing earthcaches in CG.
We loved Carnarvon Gorge, the hike and camping nearby. Starting out at 6 in the morning, we visited Moss Garden on our way back to camp just as the day was heating up. It was so cool and peaceful in the garden. Thanks for another great Earthcache. Answers have been sent.
Moss Gardens were certainly a highlight for us. this was our last Geocaching stock on the day, and our last detour off the main track.
We thought GZ was spectacular, cooling and very peaceful.
Who could imagine that sandstone would provide such a sponge for so many plants to grow. We just sat in awe for a long time watching the tiny drips falling while not too far away a waterfall also continued it’s own journey.
This was certainly something out of the ordinary and very unexpected for us. As we arrived at GZ, it almost looked like someone had manicured this garden. But of course it was just nature at its absolute best.

First stop. Last place to visit.
Have talked kungfuchickendingo into revisit here - the Gorge - again.
Still sore after 35km hike the day before.
Packed up camp, tent went up top on the roof rack, as it was damp from morning dew.
Cheeky apostle birds, also known as happy family visit our camp.
Saw a sugar glider last night too
Easy walk this one, thankfully.
Met some old folks here, answer the questions - await response.
Took a slow motion video of water drip over the fern. Turned out pretty cool.

Wonderful time with the Carnavon Crew (Car∅, Snickersallan and Kestal).
After climbing the bluff at the crack of dawn, we trekked to see the Moss Garden. Great company made the walk very enjoyable, we didn't notice the distance with lots of jokes, stories and matchmaking

TFTC! Logging this for 01/09/21 now that we are back in reception ... Our day with a 4 year old where he walked 16km! This was the first of our stops. Carnarvon still is one of our favourite national parks.
What a beautiful place, second time I have done this walk and would do it again. Tftc
Tear to see. Beautiful spot, and thanks to geocaching I would not have noticed the way the water comes out between the two rocks.

Our last stop on this walk. The stairs on this one are a killer, especially when feeling exhausted after making our way up to Big Bend and back.
It is definitely worth the pain thought. Such a peaceful and serene place to sit and rest for awhile. I could certainly have something like this in my backyard.
Another favourite point from me.

My husband and I spent 2 days at Takaraka camp site thankfully in air conditioned cabin as it reached 40 degrees on both days . The first day we went to carnarvon cliffs, Takaraka lookout and A matter of time and the second day we walked to cathedral cave and did all the off shoots bar bulimba bluff. We left at 5.30 and after 22 km and just over 7 hours we made it back to the car exhausted and hot but very happy. This was our first stop and such a lovely spit and nice and cool here. We took a seat and admired the view. Thanks for taking us here and for placing here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy
Regarding Moss Garden (GC4GCH9):
We spent a couple of nights at takkarakka at the end of our road trip so that we could do Carnarvon Gorge. What a grand finale!! It really is spectacular! In one day our family did the four main sites, covering 14km over 7hours, so we fully stopped to enjoy each point of interest. This was our first and it didn’t disappoint. The coolness certainly helped to refresh us too. Really interesting when you take the time to observe and appreciate nature. Thanks for putting this earthcache here

Day 3 of of a Queensland road trip with EatSleepCacheRepeat and JACS Team. This day was all about walking the main track in Carnarvon Gorge. I had done this previously, but the weather at that time was bad, and the river quite flooded. Entirely different experience today. We walked to Big Bend, then came back to the camping area doing all the offshoots. The bits I had seen before were just as amazing as last time, and the new area (Wards Canyon) impressed me even more. Such range of unique areas to enjoy. Favourite points all around. TFTC!
We drove here from Brisbane and were lucky enough to get a camping spot in the national park where our walks turned into laughing about our sore muscles over our camp cooked dinner, and then quiet nights turned into waking up to the sounds of the birds in the morning We spent three days exploring the trails (even the ones without geocaches ) I’m generally not a huge fan of the heavy touristy tracks, but this one is a must-do. Everything we saw, I loved. Especially the Aboriginal Art. Added extras on the hike were some wildlife spotting! We saw wallabies, a sugar glider, platypus, and an echidna as well as some amazing bird varieties
On Day 1 we did Boolimba Bluff lookout then set up our camp site Within our 3 days, our biggest walk was 30km on Day 2 where we made our way to the Big Bend, then did ALL the offshoots on the way back. The 20ish rock crossings were lots of fun, I couldn’t help kick off the hiking books and do two crossing bare foot on day 3 ️ which is where we did The Mickey Creek, rock pools, and cliffs
This weekend I also collected my 5000th geocache which I was pretty excited about! sharing the adventure with friends made it all the more enjoyable!
Now with tents packed we are off to find our next camp site! TFTECs

Last Earthcache for the epic journey. My legs were really feeling it here. Still we sat and took in the amazingness of the place. Such a contrast to what was a mere 30m away.
Such an incredible spot. We have been camping in a nearby spot and did the walk today. Art Gallery, Ward's Canyon, Amphitheatre and Moss Garden.

This is the only place at Carnarvon Gorge we've been to before. Like last time, we arrived after lunch and only had time for a short walk, that is short in terms of Carnarvon walks. Stunningly scenic and cool, just as we remember it. TFTEC fourpathfinders, fav point.

Brad and Janet are on an epic trip up through central Australia and across Queensland. Carnarvon Gorge has been a target for the trip but unfortunately some ealrier issues means not as much time as we wanted was available to visit. We have to get the house on wheels into the Sunshine Coast for its service on 7 OCt. But we were able to do a day stop an a bit of exploring. Answers sent. We will be back as this place is beautiful

We did a wonderful walk with the Takarakka guide and saw many things and heard many stories we would not have known about had we done this on our own. This was one place we visited. Amazing early morning walk before the heat hits too much for the geokids! Loved this spot and always great to learn a little more!! TFTC love Carnarvon Gorge!!
Away on holidays and decided to revisit Carnarvon Gorge 20 years after the first visit. We were not disappointed!
A recent fire through the gorge left lots of features exposed which I dare say would’ve been hidden from view under greenery prior.
Got up early and set off at 6am for a hike up to The Art Gallery, enjoyed a rest while taking in the artwork then made our (Dad & myself) way back out of the gorge stopping at the highlights.
This was our last stop on the way out of the gorge today. It sure was starting to get real hot but we were looking forward to the Moss Garden being nice and cool. It wasn’t too bad. It after 15mins the mozzies found us so we had to retreat. Those steps nearly killed us lol. But once again worth the walk. TFTH

The family love road trips and this one was done a little while ago. We love travelling around our amazing country. This was a fair walk but well worth it with the beautiful scenery along various parts of the gorge and seeing lots of birds along the way. It really is amazing what you can find if you want to explore. A place we would definitely come back to anytime. Answers sent to the CO.

Why walk 15.5 KM's, when you can do in 31km's, to get the exact same number of Earth Caches.
What I'm I talking about? The first day I walked to the end or as far as I planned to go, which was "Art Gallery".
What a wonderful track, but a major disappointment when I found I didn't have "ANY" of my Geocaching stuff with me.
Back home or rather to our cottage, I went. Sigh!!!
The following day I was up earlier and off I went again, same track.......
Saw different animals and birds this day, which is a plus...

**Day 3 - International Earth Cache weekend - Carnarvon Gorge*
When Nyssaflutterby mentioned this International Earth Cache weekend some months back it was always going to happen. This place has been on my bucket list since the first time I looked down from above while flying over the area many, many moons ago.
After a 2 day road trip (including caching to get here we are finally at the gorge
So today accompanied by 1MinnieMoo, Lady membsec, mnance101, Slow Puncture, and Nyssaflutterby we made our way up to Cathedral Cave ( well the narrow gorge just past here) to seek out all of the brilliant Earthcaches in the area.
Each and every one of these caches is equally brilliant We will sleep well tonight.
