Great puzzle...lot of guess work ...it took a lot if searching to locate the evil hide...then when we did it was extremely difficult to sign the log nearly mush....Riser I do question the T and D ratings as I would have spent nearly 2 hours in total on this ..includes search and solve..not travel ...also the container and log require replacing....and the addition of a geo checker would sure help as there are other places nearby that also fit the brief...thanks for your efforts

I've solved a few pi puzzles and they are not on my favorite list as there are so many possibilities. A chance geocaching post the other day mentioned this type of solve. I glossed over it as I wasnt solving any more- well until today that is. I was confident that this was the correct method but when I couldn't find the cache at the solved coordinates I had second thoughts. Ok one last look, and I felt something. Removed and still wasnt entirely sure it was the cache but on further inspection decided it was. Certainly not a d1 hide that's for sure. Plenty of activity around here today to make life interesting. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Riser5

Well this had been a journey in the making for some time as for the past few weeks a group of us were working on puzzles in the area for a 24 hour mission (travel time included) to see what we could reasonably grab.

All caches were signed "HOAC" so as to save space in the logbook. So together with HKCB, 11HPG, kiwis69 & Alpenmilch83 we left Hamilton at 6.pm with the aim to do as many as possible before sleeping in the car, grabbing breakfast and continuing on. Plenty of laughs were had and stories told. Thanks to all the CO's for their efforts in keeping these going and taking the time and effort to place and maintain these caches.
Still collecting puzzles as we went

Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

On another HOAC mission, this time with Cats&Dragons, Kiwis69, 11HPG11, and Alpenmilch80. The mission a 24 hour blitz on Whangarei puzzles, plus a certain multi to complete C&D's 5th loop around the D/T grid. Leaving Hamilton at 6pm, with a quick stop in Auckland to pick up A80, we were in Whangarei caching just after 10pm.

During the moonlight hours the plan was to focus on the puzzles around Onerahi, and the Pokemon series, while during thhe daylight the plan was to focus on thegreatauk puzzles plus a few others we had solved. The mission turned out to be fairly successful considering the level on difficultly of most of the hides we were targeting. The logs were signed as HOAC to save room on the logs, a big thanks must go out to all the CO's for their hides.

I had solved this puzzle not long after the Pi day this was released, so it's been in the solved pile a long time. Took a while to locate the tricky wee hide.

A Friday night a bit different. I got picked up in AKL by a car loaded with Cats&Dragons, 11hpg11, kiwis69, HKCB & a trunk full of food, which could have lasted us for a week surviving in Whangarei. Started into the night with telling a lot of funny stories, enjoying laughter’s and geocaching, geocaching, geocaching.... Enjoyed the nightly stroll over to the bridge to search or the goods.
I enjoyed the time out with the HOAC crew and must say when I arrived back home I felt broken, but very happy and accomplished. TFTC and TFTTrip

A trip to Whangarei for the night to collect a few caches is totally normal right? 2 hours sleep is also normal? Our group tonight consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Kiwis69, Alpenmilch80 and myself. We left Hamilton at 6pm on Friday and we were home by 6.30pm on Saturday. Some great caches were found and some laughs were had and a lot of sugar and caffeine consumed. A lot of planning and puzzle solving had gone into the prep work so we had a good plan of what caches to attack. Logs were signed as HOAC to save room

A nice puzzle to solve and a nice cache to find, thanks for the hide.

Found during our 24-hr Whangarei caching mission. After a few weeks' planning and a lot of nights working our way through some of the more recently published puzzles, we (HKCB, 11HPG11, Alpenmilch83, C&D & myself) set off north on Friday evening with our caching wish-list. Great trip: really enjoyed exploring new areas, lots of laughs as always and good to find a few caches (although a bit more sleep would've been nice too!) before we headed back home on Saturday afternoon. All caches were signed "HOAC" so as to save space in the logbooks. Our main targets were puzzles, night caches and less common DT ratings with a spot of tree climbing thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed solving this lovely little pi puzzle, nice to collect the final tonight too. TFTC

In the town basin for lunch with the CO did a couple of other caches in the area when he said the final for this puzzle was close by. Why not do one more on such a lovely day. Tft(Pi)c

Now changing my DNF to a found it with permission granted by the C.O. Thank you for that riser5. Yes.. it was a little frustrating that each time I was able to be in the area, the cache always seemed to be gone. Loved the puzzle btw, very sneaky!

31-Dec-17
I came up to Whangarei to do some cache maintenance and also get a FTF. Along the way off course, I was encouraged by a recent 'found it' but I'm assuming now since I never found the cache today, that they were given the nod to log even though no cache was found! Wonder if the C.O might be so benevolent to me! Anyway, my 3rd visit and no cache today....... SadSadSadSad

Spent a long time hunting in the cache zone, trying a spot multiple times we thought had to be it. A quick check with Riser5 who confirmed we should have had cache in hand. Thanks heaps for your support!

Need to replace

11-Aug-17
To keep our puzzle streak going we decided to make an overnight visit to Whangarei. We arrived late afternoon, and thought we might try a night cache. But after failing to find that cache tonight, we had to head for our second option, and get a Piece of Pi. We had already had one failed attempt at this one, largely because of the high number of muggles at that time making searching awkward. Muggles were few and far between at this hour of the night, and as luck would have it the cache was found in the first place we checked. Very glad to have finally signed off on this one. Thanks for the puzzle!

Found with my crew. Argh. TFTC.

16-Jul-17
Found this treasure with the pirate crew while attending the near-by AHoy geocaching event. Thanks to the CO for his extra hint to help make the treasure hunt a success.

16-Jul-17
Solved this one a few weeks ago and with today's Pirate event being held not too far away, decided it was a good time to look for it. Had limbered up and was having an initial look in the hint location without success. A quick call out to the neraby CO confirmed I was in the right spot, but just not applying the hint fully. Once I did, the cache was soon in hand. TFTC

16-Jul-17
Solved the Pi portion a few weeks ago, and waited for the find until today. It was nice to have the pirate crew along to help with the search....though we still needed a hand from the CO for the final success! Thanks for the fun.

16/07/17 14:25 Was marooned due to being a shanangled by a bunch of pirates. Signed the log with the assistance of the crew and resolved to solve. Will write a note when done so. I'm honest like that... Thanks for that, a cache that says you can have your cake and eat it too. Or was that pie? Cheers, GC

Solved this puzzle prior to our trip to Whangarei. Agility was a definite advantage in finding this cache. We were the first to sign the new log - thanks for replacing this one!

Nice easy puzzle but couldn't find the final cache.

28-Nov-16
Had fun solving this one, and thank you to the CO for confirming I had the correct co-ordinates. Beautiful spot to hide a cache, lovely sunny afternoon with muggles all about. Sat to take in the views, and made a quick reach, and soon had the cache in my hand.

Thank you for creating, and an added bonus of another Pi themed cache Big Grin

#10996. This was the turnaround point of our walk. We had muggle problems, and as soon as the coast was clear I nipped in for a close look. TFTC.

22-Jan-16
Our first full day in Whangarei and after a big trip yesterday, we were keen to do as little driving as possible, so we decided to head to the city centre and have a stroll around there.
It was very muggly at GZ and we had to wait for a group of cyclists to depart before StreetWalker found the very well hidden cache. Can't believe this is a rated 1 diff: puzzle to solve + muggles to contend with + tricky hide = 2 diff at least, IMO.
Anyway good to get a solved puzzle smileyfied, TFTC.

Had another enjoyable walk to Gz and not to many muggles to wait to pass. so now a nice quick sneak and yip was just where my BLIND eyes had looked before. hmmm silly me. Sorry about the late log too. Just catching up on a few that I have overlooked and have the time today. Neat puzzle and fav point thx.

#470 Group FTF - well sort of... Be stealthy. High muggle zone with cache at risk of future muggling. TFT(Pi)C.

Luckily this was published during the Pi event, so there were plenty of other good brains, eyes & devices to solve this one quickly; since I forgot my glasses, needed a new pen ( & forgot the pencil holding my bun up) - should have ordered a cup of coffee to kick-start the old noodle! Big Grin LOL Have been cursing the (cr)app & still prefer my GPS, but am glad I figured out (finally!) how to add a waypoint to multi/puzzle caches just the other day... Bangorang had the brilliant idea of a spur of the moment CITO; amongst the collection were a baby bottle, Regency Pie bag, and some of the caches camo - evidence it had been muggled. But a great collective search & "find". Thanks!

Solved this one in the car on the way to the PI event.......a quick sign of the log and PI day is done. TFTC

Again we kind of found part of it as a group. This area has improved so much since I lived here - only 3 years ago. Looked at the puzzle just now. An easy solve. Will pop in and sign the log next time I'm down. Thanks for the fun and letting me quiz you on all my OC puzzle problems Riser5. It was a great morning. TFTP Smile
