Logs
Found while having a little tour around the area. Happened to find the old logbook on the ground. Have put it into the new container. Many thanks nickj2411 for providing this game piece for our enjoyment.Greetings from Tatura
Thanks for bringing me here. Loved The cache and it was not what I was expecting .Lucky I didnt have a 2wd , otherwise that wouldve been an interesting trip up the hill.
We were on our way back home after a long weekend down around Baw Baw, and we swung by the fire tower to have lunch with a view. And while all that was going on I wandered over to check on the cache, and the new logbook and ziplock bag is as dry as a chip, and there are a couple of new names in it that havent logged online yet.So its all good to go up here.
In the area to celebrate the suspension of logging and hopefully its permanency. I have been here as a forester, weed sprayer, fire fighter and now conservationist and was friend to Dale who operated this tower for over 30 years and for many years was the only resident at matlock that is almost now a metropolis. Sad to see Mcadmas gap looks to be closed. Now to the cache. That was awesome. Now it was always going to get a favourite being at a fire lookout and such an amazing scenery but such a wonderfully crafter hide. Absolutely loved it and got some beautiful phot0graphs as well. Roads all in good condition and suitable for your urban 2 wheel drive.
Because of other life matters, expect to be able to have this cache back on line by 31st October.
Due to other commitments I will not be able to replace the log until late August 2023.
Out and about exploring the area. As per previous finder there is no possible way to sign the log & we have nothing to replace.
Found this cache while out with the family.
There is no possible way to write or stamp the book. It will need to be replaced.
Took a photo of the cache.
A great hide indeed, would be fun to locate in the snow.

Took a bit of angling my head around to get it. It was unfortunately spilled out on the ground nearby but re-stashed it. TFTC.
Quick easy find on a weekend exploring Jameson / Woods point area with @Smithies Outback Gear, a great chance to tick off the few remaining cache we had missed out on previously tftc
Great afternoon out exploring the area with The4wdShed. This one was a well concealed cache and took a little hunting. TFTC
Cruising around some tracks today, thought I would pop up to Matlock and check out some snow, wasn't too much to look at as most of it was munched up and drilled into the mud from recent 4wders chucking burnouts.
Cache was found after abit of searching, quite a cleaver spot really. All looks to be in good order. Thanks for the hide!

Been wanting to come here for a while and finally did it. Unfortunately it was very cloudy, so not sure what the view is like, but did find a lump of snow to photograph for the kids. TFTC
Thanks Nick, camped at Thackeray( Eastern suburb of Matlock). Took my bicycle up to Mt Matlock, pushed it most of the way, in the mist. Arrived about the same time as a downpour and took shelter under some huge solar arrays. Spent the next hour cursing my phone's wet touch screen and making quick dashes in the rain to finally find the cache. Clever hide. I am writing this log in dry cloths by a fire at camp. Will go back for the view another day. A great adventure thankyou. Regards from Vic
A very warm and humid day and this cache was the perfect location today and nobody's around up here the views are quite spectacular and the cache was definitely nicely hidden found after a short search signed and replaced...TFTC
On his way to Gaffneys Creek, MontsII stooped fo find this cache. He had a very near miss with a tiger snake, which likes to hang out near the cache. I would have left, but he stayed to make the find... I worry about him. Thanks so much for placing this cache day1976
Went for my first 4WD trip in the snow... Awesome views!

Enjoying the great weather we hit the mountains on the dusty track towards Matlock , taking in the great views and various wildflowers in full bloom. The firetower was attended today obviously due to the high temperatures that could spark a fire at any time, gee what a view they must have from up there as it was breathtaking enough from ground level.
The cache wasn't spotted immediately as we were looking for something else totally, due to the description saying it was an eclipse container but after re-evaluating the hint we knew exactly where to look and bingo we found the cache which was "slightly" bigger than the evil said tin [;P]
Thanks nickj2411 for the sneaky placement , very well concealed

Now this was one out of the box, but after a change in position and the hint, we soon had the cache in hand. A great place for a cache, nice drive up to GZ too.
Thanks nickj2411 for this cache placement.

We'd been camping at Walhalla overnight after some late night shenanigans celebrating a fellow geocachers 40th birthday. We woke up surprisingly well however the weather didn't - it turned showery and what wasn't yet mud was heading that way pretty quickly. It was nice to throw all the gear in the geomobile and even better enjoying the heater whilst we were getting intermittent weather reports from the drivers seat, the external thermometer was dropping at had settled on 5degrees by the time we'd reached the firetower. Dad had to head off to GZ on his lonesome as the rest of the crew couldn't tear themselves away from the warmth. We marvelled at the firetower and the climb entailed in getting to the top, you wouldn't want to have a curried vindaloo repeat on you whilst on duty up there huh! Anyhoo the cache was found well hidden and in good condition, our thanks go to nickj2411 for bringing us here. Cheers [^]
We approached this one from the north after branching off the Mansfield-Woodspoint Road at the Devils Elbow taking Frenchmans Track west to Corn Hill "Road" which we followed south the Mt Matlock. We finally found it after using the clue and, as one log entry noted, *"thinking outside of the box"*. Great hide, great location and I reckon it needs to be added to my favourites!

Interesting place and worth a visit, didn't get a view as we were in low cloud so we'll have to re-visit in the future. Great hide too and I've given it favourite.

Came here Anzac w/e. I really wanted to visit this fire tower as I had heard a lot about it. My ex from a few years back used to be the fire spotter here in the 90's and had many stories, one of which I feel compelled to share. He had a big black line through his teeth and on further questioning informed me that whilst he was fire spotting one time, he sneezed and his false teeth popped out and dropped to the ground. They cracked through in half and being so isolated he needed a quick fix...superglue. Over time the line of glue blackened!
Took a few minutes once we found GZ....using the hint and thinking outside the box, the cache was in hand. Great spot. Well done and thanks for this cache.

The forecast was for showers but Mother Nature had other plans for the day. Torrential rains, howling winds and bitter cold was the ultimate outcome. But what a great day. Venturing into landscapes not visited before, exploring new areas of this great state of ours, what more can one ask for. The hard asphalt roads would soon turned to rutted and corrugated dirt, the icons on the dashboard danced to and fro as they had to accept the fact the final part of the journey wasn't going to be smooth trailing.
I missed the turn off up to the fire tower, but managed a u-bolt and was soon making my way up the rough muddy and stony track. Arriving at the top the tower was shrouded in thick rolling clouds, making the scene quite mystical. Parking next to the trig point, I made my way to GZ. A bit of searching was involved until I eventually located the craftily hidden cache.
Thanks nickj2411, a fav for me and awesome location.

A nice easy find Today with a couple of friends whilst out 4wd driving showing our Canadian friends our high country
2 years later and we were back. this time there wasn't a toyota club parked on top of the cache so it was an easy find for minons. Nice hide
Wow what a tower ! I was surprised the view wasn't as good as I thought it would be ! I'm sure it's fantastic from the top of the tower ! Nice quick find love the position. Tftc a nice day out in the surrounding areas !
Decided to take the Subaru 4WD. Found this one easily though changing angles helped, geokid made a swap and we were on our way. TFTC
logging in retrospect had found this cache a few months ago but forgot to log TFTC
Working my way up to Sydney via Woods Point, Jamieson, Craigs Hut, Mt Howit, Wonnangatta Station and Mt Buffalo. As well as seeing the sights. I wanted to knock off some of the caches along the way. With a lot of rough km's ahead of me i was unable to stop for them all. But i think i found a good few in my journey. Thanks all for placing them.
Travelling today from Goughs Bay to Kilcunda for a meeting in San Remo tomorrow and so have made a real day trip of it. I set out this morning at 8 am and arrived in Kilcunda at 7 pm travelling via Jamieson, Woods Point, Matlock, Aberfeldy, Moe, Mirboo North and Wonthaggi. This included 6 hours trough the hills chasing the odd cache.
Nice hide, quick find. Boy is this place loaded with gadgets.
Thanks for bringing me here and thanks for placing this cache nickj2411

Replaced and relocated cache to provide better all seasons access. We moved it some 100m from the original GZ and raised slightly off the ground to assist with cache integrity during the winter months when this area can be covered in snow up to 45cm deep!

Thank you for letting me know. We have been exceptionally busy this last month and have not been able to get up to fix it. I will able to rectify in the next few weeks.
We did see that this has been taken off-line but we were here playing in the snow so we just had to find a cache! Yes it is too wet to write on but such a great place to visit TFTC
Hi there fellow Geocachers. I am taking this one off line for maintenance. Should be back on line in a couple of weeks. Nickj
4*, blowing a gail and rain ideal conditions for geocaching been here many times before great spot in the bush thanks
Found It!! Found it while camping down at Gaffneys Creek for a few days and after doing one of the AWGS Explorer series found the cache quickly and singed the log TFTC

Find # 3194

After logistics prevented me from being able to attend Philipp's "Winter Camp" event and be back home in time for my basketball final on Sunday, I decided to head out anyway and find somewhere I have not been to and find some caches while I was at it. The weather was looking very promising, so a night under canvas would be the order of the night.
I was yet to get a FTF this month, so made this one of my early targets of the day. It was a fairly easy drive to GZ today with reasonably dry roads. Great Views from GZ.
Thanks to nickj2411 for the cache.
